Create with Connie and Mary 227

Happy Thursday! I hope that everyone is enjoying their week. Work is a little hectic and will be until the end of the month. I will be happy when December gets here! Thursday also means that it’s Create with Connie and Mary time! This week we have a shaped card to make. I think this is my first shaped card and it was fun! Here we go…

As soon as I saw the Blossom in the sketch I knew exactly what I was going to do! My card starts off with a base of Basic Black Card Stock. I cut two of the largest Labels Collection Framelits Dies and scored about 1/4″ on the top of the back one and adhered the two together with a little Sticky Strip. The background layer is a piece of Pool Party that I also cut out with the Labels Collection Framelits Dies and embossed with the Chevron Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. Before I adhered it to the base I cut two piece of Basic Black 3/8″ Taffeta Ribbon and adhered them around the back with Sticky Strip. The stamped image is the new Single Stamp Bold Snowflake that coordinates with the Blossom Punch. I stamped it in Pool Party on Whisper White. For the middle image I stamped the snowflake stamp from the Mixed Medley Host(ess) Stamp Set in Versa-Mark on Basic Black and heat embossed it with Silver Stampin’ Emboss Powder. It is then punched out with the 1 1/4″ Scallop Circle Punch. Both if them are adhered to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. The greeting is from the More Merry Messages Stamp Set and is stamped in Basic Black and “fussy” cut out with my Paper Snips. Some Stampin’ Dimensional pieces adhere it to the card. I love the Pool Party and Basic Black together. They give the card a bold frosty retro look! I hope that enjoyed my Guest Designer card for this week’s Create with Connie and Mary Sketch Challenge. Hello peeps! How was everyone’s Monday? Mine was ok, I had a lot to do and got it all done! I think that’s a first for me especially on a Monday! Today’s post is for this week’s Mojo Monday Sketch Challenge. This week Juliee Tilman has given us the following…

I really like the layouts that they come up with over ay Mojo. I have been on a bit of an ebay kick lately and I found this retired wood mount stamp set from 2008 called Glad Tidings. It has some great simple greeting stamps. I used three of them from the set. The base of my card starts off with a piece of Lucky Limeade Card Stock. I added a piece of Very Vanilla and stamped the top and bottom with Merry Christmas in Early Espresso. On top of that is a piece of Candlelight Christmas Specialty Designer Series Paper and a piece of Lucky Limeade that I embossed with the Lacy Brocade Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. The panel in the middle is a piece of Very Vanilla and is stamped with another greeting from Glad Tidings. The left side has a piece of the velvet textured Window Sheet from the same DSP. On the right is a piece of Real Red 1/4″ Grosgrain Ribbon that I recently acquired from the Clearance Rack. A piece of Early Espresso that I cut with the Finishing Touches Edgelits is adhered to the back on the right. A Brights Collection Designer Button with a Basic Jewels Pearl in the middle is adhered to the ribbon with a Mini Glue Dot. The last greeting is stamped in Early Espresso and punched out with the 1″ Square Punch, I backed it with a piece of Early Espresso punched out with the  1 1/4″ Square Punch. Both panels are adhered to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. I really like the colors together with the vintage (sounds much better than retired! LOL!) stamps. Freshly Made Sketches #60

A very good morning to you all! I have some awesome news… I got my power back last night after almost 10 days without it! I cannot tell you how happy I am! It’s so nice to sit at my craft desk and not shiver! LOL! I hope that all of the other people get theirs back soon. There are still about 260,000 people without power on Long Island. It really is terrible that it is taking them so long to fix all of this especially when we are lucky enough to have all of these people from other states here helping us. A big thank you to all of those that have come from all over the country! I also want to take a moment and thank all of you for your wonderful comments. You guys are the best!

Now for today’s post which is for this week’s Freshly Made Sketches. This week we have a great simple sketch from Tui…

I was in an exceptionally great mood last night when I made this card so I needed something equally as happy to be the main element. I love the santa from the Jolly Old Saint Nick Stamp Set. He is retired but he reminds me of the Coca Cola santa from years ago. The base of my card is Cherry Cobbler Card Stock. I embossed a piece of Whisper White with the Woodgrain Textured Impressions Embossing Folder using no tabs so it was a little more subtle. The two shorter strips of card stock are Gumball Green and Cherry Cobbler. I used a piece of Silver Glimmer Paper in the middle for some sparkle. The main image is the happy santa from the Jolly Old Saint Nick Stamp Set (Retired). I stamped him in Basic Black and colored him with Blush Blossom, Cherry Cobbler and Pink Pirouette Stampin’ Write Markers. He is cut out with my Paper Snips and adhered to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. The greeting is from the same set and is stamped in Gumball Green. I double cut it out with the Labels Collection Framelits Dies and also cut another one in Gumball Green to back it. Stampin’ Dimensionals also hold it to the card. I really love the classic look of the santa and the sparkle of the Silver Glimmer Paper. I hope that you enjoyed this week’s Freshly Made Sketches card. Create with Connie and Mary Color Challenge 226

Good morning! Well, someone in New York must have really annoyed mother nature! We got 3 inches of snow today and some more howling wind! Because hurricane Sandy wasn’t enough! I hope she’s done with us for a while. I stopped home last night and it was 38 degrees in my house, now that is a little cold! Yes, there is still no power. But some more people that I live near got theirs back tonight so maybe tomorrow. 😛

Today’s post is for this week’s Create with Connie and Mary Challenge. This week we have a very nice color combination…

I love Midnight Muse. I wasn’t quite sure what I was going to do. At first I was thinking fall and then I thought no, a Christmas card. I do love non-traditional Holiday colors so this is perfect! The base of my card is Midnight Muse Card Stock. I embossed a piece of Cajun Craze with the Northern Flurry Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. Then I adhered a piece of Midnight Muse 3/8″ Stitched Satin Ribbon around the back with Sticky Strip before I adhered it to the base. The stamped image is from the Snow Swirled Stamp Set and is stamped in Midnight Muse on Whisper White. I stamped one the of the snowflakes in More Mustard and punched it out with the 1/2″ Circle Punch and adhered it with a Stampin’ Dimensional. Some Basic Jewels Rhinestones give it just a little sparkle. The greeting is stamped in Cajun Craze. I backed them both with More Mustard and adhered them to the base with Stampin’ Dimensionals. I love the elegance of the tree and the sparkle from the rhinestones. I hope that you enjoyed my Guest Designer card for this week’s Create with Connie and Mary Challenge. Mojo 266

Good morning everyone! How are you all doing today? I’m ok, still no power and it’s getting a little chilly here. I’m one of the lucky ones that has a nice warm place to stay. I really feel for the people that don’t. It has been exactly 7 days since we had power at my house. On a positive note I have seen tons of electrical trucks so I’m hoping again that today will be the day. They have come from all over to help, I even saw a few from Joplin Missouri, they had an incredibly tough time with the tornado and it’s great to see them here able to help us now. So a big thanks to everyone that is doing what they can to get us back to a civilized life here in New York. I won’t even comment on the gas issue, that has gotten way out of hand!

I’m loving the flagged items as always! My card starts off with a base of Early Espresso Card Stock. I used the Woodgrain Background Stamp inked up in some Illuminate Glimmer Ink. I find that it takes a while to dry but the end result is worth the wait. A flagged piece of Primrose Petals makes the next layer. The next two layers are pieces from the Candlelight Christmas Specialty Designer Paper Pack. The top most layer is backed by a piece of Very Vanilla. I cut a piece of Brushed Silver Card Stock with the Snow Flurry Bigz Die. For a little change of pace I stamped a butterfly from the Papillion Potpourri Stamp Set in Primrose Petals and punched it out with the Elegant Butterfly Punch. Both are mounted to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. The greeting is from the More Merry Messages Stamp Set and is stamped in Primrose Petals. I flagged the end and used a Vintage Faceted Designer Button with a piece of Silver Glimmer Paper in the center on the left side. Paper Players #120

Monday is here again and I am still without power. I did sneak home during “generator time” to make a card. I have been lucky enough to stay at my friend Louis’ house since Friday. My parents are also high on my awesome list as they took gas cans to the station when they got gas an got me 10 gallons! Like I said… awesome parents! The gas lines here on Long Island are still 2 to 3 hours long. There are so many people still without electricity. For all that we have accomplished in the past decade we still can’t manage to keep the lights on? Oh well, maybe someone will come up with a way soon. My thoughts and prayers are also with all of those that don’t have a house left to get lights in. It’s a tough time right now but we will all get through this and come out better!

Now on to happy stuff. Today’s post is for this week’s Paper Players. This week we have a “Give Thanks” challenge from Ann…

It’s a fitting challenge for our current situation. My card starts off with a base of Whisper White Card Stock. I used the Fancy Fan Textured Impressions Embossing Folder to emboss a piece of Island Indigo for my background. The large image is from the Quint-Essential Flower and is stamped in Pool Party and punched out with the 2 3/8″ Circle Punch. The greeting in the middle is from the Blooming With Kindness Stamp Set and is stamped in Island Indigo and punched out with the 1 1/4″ Circle Punch. The smaller images are from the Circle Circus Stamp Set. The ones that are punched out with the 1 3/4″ Scallop Circle Punch are stamped in Pool Party and the tiny ones are stamped in Island Indigo. I thought that it needed a little more so I used some butterflies cut out with the Beautiful Wings Embosslit in Whisper White. All of the elements are adhered to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. I needed a happy card with some brighter colors and I think this fit the bill. I have a lot to be thankful for, my friends and family that have all been great! I’m a very lucky guy and I know it. Naturals Evergreen Cheer Christmas

Hello peeps! How are we all doing today? Still no power at my house. Sigh… being cold inside the house has lost it’s appeal! LOL! Do you know when you get that internal cold that you just can’t get rid of… I have that. Still, better of than so many others so chin up and and on we go. Today’a post is a nice simple Christmas card. I made it a little while back and the more I look at it the more I like it. It starts off with a base of Naturals White Card Stock. The bottom half of the card uses a piece of Be of Good Cheer Designer Series Paper for the background. I cut out a piece of Crumb Cake and rounded the corners with the 3/16″ Corner Rounder. The tree image is from the Evergreen Stamp Set and is stamped in Early Espresso. The greeting is from the More Merry Messages Stamp Set and is markered in Cherry Cobbler. I used my Stamp-a-ma-jig to line them up. To give the card some dimension I tied some Linen Thread through a Naturals Designer Button and adhered it to the card with a Mini Glue Dot. Freshly Made Sketches #59

A very good Friday morning to you! I am always a happy boy on Friday. We still have no power and it’s getting a little colder each night. Hopefully later on today when I get home all will be back to normal. Today’s post is for this week’s Freshly Made Sketches Challenge. This week’s sketch is provided by Cindy…

Funnily enough at the beginning of the week I was thinking that I wanted to do something with the Postage Due Stamp Set, I even had the images stamped and Cindy must have read my mind! The base of my card is Old Olive, a color that I haven’t used in a while. I used a piece of Bravo Burgundy for my background panel and adhered a piece of Retired Very Vanilla 1/4″ Grosgrain Ribbon with a Round Designer Ribbon Slide to it before mounting it to the card with SNAIL. The Delicate Designs Textured Impressions Embossing Folder is used on a piece of Old Olive to go across the middle of the card. The 2 cent images are from the Postage Due Stamp Set and are stamped in Bravo Burgundy and Old Olive and the 25 cent stamp image is from the Merry and Type Stamp Set and is stamped in Old Olive. They are all punched out with the Postage Stamp Punch. I used some Stampin’ Dimensionals to mount them to the card. I really like the sketch and the one stamp makes this a great quick Christmas card. Good morning! How are we all doing today? I’m doing ok. The no power and generator thing is getting old fast, but there are people out there a lot worse off than me so I guess I really shouldn’t complain. Sandy definitely left her mark here and it will be felt for a while I’m sure. Thank you to all of my readers for their concern. I really appreciate the comments! You guys rock!

It’s Thursday so it’s Create with Connie and Mary time! This week we have a nice simple sketch…

I changed it up just a little bit but most of the main elements are the same. The base of my card is Cherry Cobbler Card Stock. I adhered a piece of Be of Good Cheer Designer Series Paper to the front so that it would be there for when I attached the top piece. A piece of Very Vanilla has the negative tree image cut out with the Holiday Collection Framelits Dies. I stamped the greeting in Cherry Cobbler from the More Merry Messages Stamp Set. Some Stampin’ Dimensionals pop it up on the Cherry Cobbler base. A piece of Gumball Green 3/8″ Stitched Grosgrain Ribbon is adhered around either side on the back with Sticky Strip. I used the Ticked Duo Builder Punch to punch out a piece of Gumball Green and adhered it to a pice of Cherry Cobbler that I used the small circle punch from the Itty Bitty Shapes Punch pack to create the ticket corners on. Two Champagne Glimmer Paper trees punched out with the Merry Minis Punch Pack are adhered with Stampin’ Dimensionals and give the card a little bling. It’s not a very complicated card to make and I am really liking the negative tree with the DSP behind it. I hope that you enjoyed my Guest Designer card for Create with Connie and Mary this week. Lots of elements and room for interpretation. My card starts with a base of Always Artichoke Card Stock. I embossed a piece of Crumb Cake with the Northern Flurry Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. Across the bottom is a piece of Riding Hood Red that I stamped with the Good Cheer Builder Wheel in Riding Hood Red. A piece of retired Riding Hood Red Satin Ribbon goes across the middle. The image is from the Winter Memories Stamp Set and is stamped in Basic Black and colored in with Riding Hood Red, Always Artichoke,  Marina Mist, Rose Red, Perfect Plum, Crumb Cake, Pretty In Pink, Bashful Blue and Soft Suede Stampin’ Write Markers. I cut it out with the Labels Collection Framelits Dies, turning it a second time to get the squared shaped. Some piercing with the Festive Paper-Piercing Pack and Paper-Piercing Tool helps dress it up and it’s adhered to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. The Merry Minis Stamp Set and the Merry Minis Punch Pack make the little banner stamped in Riding Hood Red and Always Artichoke. Some Whisper White Bakers Twine strings them together. The greeting is from the Winter Memories Stamp Set too and is stamped in Always Artichoke and underlined with the Always Artichoke Marker. I edged it with the marker to before I adhered it to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. The button is a Naturals Designer Button with a Whisper White Bakers Twine bow. I adhered it to the card with two stacked Stampin’ Dimensionals. I love the homey warm feel of the card, it makes all of the coloring worth it!
