Pals Paper Arts 147

Ahh… the weekend, how I love thee! Happy Saturday! I’m off to Manhattan to see some peeps and have some diner breakfast! Hopefully traffic will light, I can dream can’t I?! What are you all up to this weekend? I will be in Holiday card mode tomorrow, I haven’t started my cards to send out yet, yikes!

Before we get to today’s post Stampin’ Up! had a bunch of announcements the other day. The first one and the one I found the coolest, they have an App! That’s right, go on over to the iTunes App store on your iPhone and download the new Simply Sent App for FREE. You can create cards and send them or post them to Facebook and Twitter. It’s a neat way to take Stampin’ Up! wherever you go! You can find it by clicking here:

The next big announcement is that for a limited time you can buy the Sizzix Texture Boutique directly from Stampin’ Up! This is a great tool for those of you not ready to commit to a Big Shot but still want to be able to emboss. See the flyer below to see the 2 great ways you can get it:

Finally, here is another really cool way to add something extra to your cards and other projects. It’s called Talking Tag. You purchase the Talking Tag Message Tags and adhere them to your project. To make it work you download the App from either the iTunes App Store or the Google Play Store and use it to record your message. When the recipient gets the card there is a QR Code for them to scan that will take them to get the app and then it will play back your message or short video to them. What a neat way to marry traditional card making with a little technology! See below for more info.

That was a lot of news for one day! I hope that you will take a look at all of the offers and pick one or all up for yourself! You can order by clicking on one of the catalogs to the right!

Now for today’s post, it’s for Pals Paper Arts. This time we have a nice sketch with panels…

I decided that I wanted to use Pool Party and Primrose Petals, They are my favorite In-Colors. Something a little odd happened, but we’ll get to that at the end. The base of my card is Primrose Petals Card Stock. I embossed a piece of Pool Party with the Northern Flurry Textured Impressions Embossing Folder and sliced off a piece of the left side. I then adhered it to the card front leaving a little space between the two pieces. A strip of Silver Glimmer Paper goes down on the right side. The panel with the greeting on is stamped with the pine needles from the Watercolor Winter Stamp Set in Pool Party. The greeting is from the More Merry Messages Stamp Set and is stamped in Primrose Petals. I backed it with a piece of Primrose Petals and used some Stampin’ DImensionals to adhere it to the card. Some more Silver Glimmer Paper is punched out with the 1 1/4″ Scallop Circle Punch. The image is 2-Step Stamped in Pool Party and Primrose Petals, also from the Watercolor Winter Stamp Set and punched out with the 1″ Circle Punch. I used Stampin’ Dimensionals to adhere them to each other and the card. Now for the odd thing, if you look at the pinecone it kind of looks like its 3D, like old 3D on a TV. Kind of cool! I hope that you enjoyed my Pals Paper Arts Sketch Challenge card. Thank you for checking in with me today. I always appreciate your visits and love reading your comments. Oh, one last thing before I go, if you look in the Talking Tags flyer you will get a sneak peek at a new product from the upcoming Spring Catalog. Can you tell me what it is?!?! Have a great Saturday! 🙂

Create with Connie and Mary 227

Happy Thursday! I hope that everyone is enjoying their week. Work is a little hectic and will be until the end of the month. I will be happy when December gets here! Thursday also means that it’s Create with Connie and Mary time! This week we have a shaped card to make. I think this is my first shaped card and it was fun! Here we go…

As soon as I saw the Blossom in the sketch I knew exactly what I was going to do! My card starts off with a base of Basic Black Card Stock. I cut two of the largest Labels Collection Framelits Dies and scored about 1/4″ on the top of the back one and adhered the two together with a little Sticky Strip. The background layer is a piece of Pool Party that I also cut out with the Labels Collection Framelits Dies and embossed with the Chevron Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. Before I adhered it to the base I cut two piece of Basic Black 3/8″ Taffeta Ribbon and adhered them around the back with Sticky Strip. The stamped image is the new Single Stamp Bold Snowflake that coordinates with the Blossom Punch. I stamped it in Pool Party on Whisper White. For the middle image I stamped the snowflake stamp from the Mixed Medley Host(ess) Stamp Set in Versa-Mark on Basic Black and heat embossed it with Silver Stampin’ Emboss Powder. It is then punched out with the 1 1/4″ Scallop Circle Punch. Both if them are adhered to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. The greeting is from the More Merry Messages Stamp Set and is stamped in Basic Black and “fussy” cut out with my Paper Snips. Some Stampin’ Dimensional pieces adhere it to the card. I love the Pool Party and Basic Black together. They give the card a bold frosty retro look! I hope that enjoyed my Guest Designer card for this week’s Create with Connie and Mary Sketch Challenge. Don’t forget to visit the blog and see what the other talented ladies have come up with. While your at it, make one and post it so I can see your work! Thank you so much for stopping by. Have an awesome day! 🙂

Mojo 267

Hello peeps! How was everyone’s Monday? Mine was ok, I had a lot to do and got it all done! I think that’s a first for me especially on a Monday! Today’s post is for this week’s Mojo Monday Sketch Challenge. This week Juliee Tilman has given us the following…

I really like the layouts that they come up with over ay Mojo. I have been on a bit of an ebay kick lately and I found this retired wood mount stamp set from 2008 called Glad Tidings. It has some great simple greeting stamps. I used three of them from the set. The base of my card starts off with a piece of Lucky Limeade Card Stock. I added a piece of Very Vanilla and stamped the top and bottom with Merry Christmas in Early Espresso. On top of that is a piece of Candlelight Christmas Specialty Designer Series Paper and a piece of Lucky Limeade that I embossed with the Lacy Brocade Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. The panel in the middle is a piece of Very Vanilla and is stamped with another greeting from Glad Tidings. The left side has a piece of the velvet textured Window Sheet from the same DSP. On the right is a piece of Real Red 1/4″ Grosgrain Ribbon that I recently acquired from the Clearance Rack. A piece of Early Espresso that I cut with the Finishing Touches Edgelits is adhered to the back on the right. A Brights Collection Designer Button with a Basic Jewels Pearl in the middle is adhered to the ribbon with a Mini Glue Dot. The last greeting is stamped in Early Espresso and punched out with the 1″ Square Punch, I backed it with a piece of Early Espresso punched out with the  1 1/4″ Square Punch. Both panels are adhered to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. I really like the colors together with the vintage (sounds much better than retired! LOL!) stamps. I hope that you enjoyed my Mojo Monday Sketch Challenge card and that you are all set to have yourself a great day! Thanks for visiting!

Paper Players #121

Monday here again so soon, I really do wish the weekend was just a bit longer. Things seem to have returned to normal here on Long Island. The mass hysteria about gas has subsided and most people have power again. My heart still goes out to all of those that lost so much more than power. The only thing to keep in mind is that time erases most things, in time all will get better.

Today’s post is for this week’s Paper Players Challenge. This week the wonderful Anne Marie has give us a color challenge to play with…

As soon as I looked at it saw a nice Holiday card. We have some red and green, even some gold! The base of my card is Very Vanilla Card Stock. I used my En Français Background Stamp inked in Old Olive for my background. The flagged pieces consist of a layer of More Mustard embossed with the Lacy Brocade Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. On top of that is a piece from the Brights Collection Designer Series Paper Stack. The final layer is Very Vanilla stamped with a greeting from the Word Play Stamp Set in Bravo Burgundy. The image is from the Bells & Boughs Stamp Set and is stamped in Basic Black. I used my More Mustard, Bravo Burgundy and Old Olive Stampin’ Write Markers to color the image in. It is then cut out with the Window Frames Collection Framelits Dies and pierced with the Festive Paper-Piercing Pack and Paper-Piercing Tool. I used the Window Frames Collection Framelits to cut out a piece of Bravo Burgundy to back it. Both pieces are mounted to each other and the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. I like the vintage feel you get form the Bells & Boughs Stamp and the En Français Stamp. I hope that you enjoyed my card for this week’s Paper Players Challenge. Thank you for visiting today and have great Monday! 🙂

Fab Friday 06

Hello everyone, how are you today? I’m doing well, looking forward to the nice weather we are going to have for the next couple of days. Today’s post is for Fab Friday. This time we have a color challenge…

There are two of my favorites, Midnight Muse and Crumb Cake, in there. The base of my card is Midnight Muse Card Stock. I embossed a piece of More Mustard with the Holiday Frame Textured Impressions Embossing Folder and adhered it to the card with SNAIL. The stamped image and greeting are from the Joyous Celebrations Stamp Set. I stamped the oval in Midnight Muse and the reindeer in Crumb Cake. It’s punched out with the Extra Large Oval Punch and backed with a piece of Cajun Craze that I cut out with the Lots of Tags Sizzlits. The greeting is stamped in Cajun Craze and I flagged the ends before mounting both of them to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. It’s a nice quick simple non-tradiotional holiday card but if you look at it you can see that the More Mustard as a gold and the Cajun Craze as a red. I hope that you enjoyed my card for the Fab Friday Color Challenge. Thank you, as always for visiting and especially for all of your comments! Have a great day!

Freshly Made Sketches #60

A very good morning to you all! I have some awesome news… I got my power back last night after almost 10 days without it! I cannot tell you how happy I am! It’s so nice to sit at my craft desk and not shiver! LOL! I hope that all of the other people get theirs back soon. There are still about 260,000 people without power on Long Island. It really is terrible that it is taking them so long to fix all of this especially when we are lucky enough to have all of these people from other states here helping us. A big thank you to all of those that have come from all over the country! I also want to take a moment and thank all of you for your wonderful comments. You guys are the best!

Now for today’s post which is for this week’s Freshly Made Sketches. This week we have a great simple sketch from Tui…

I was in an exceptionally great mood last night when I made this card so I needed something equally as happy to be the main element. I love the santa from the Jolly Old Saint Nick Stamp Set. He is retired but he reminds me of the Coca Cola santa from years ago. The base of my card is Cherry Cobbler Card Stock. I embossed a piece of Whisper White with the Woodgrain Textured Impressions Embossing Folder using no tabs so it was a little more subtle. The two shorter strips of card stock are Gumball Green and Cherry Cobbler. I used a piece of Silver Glimmer Paper in the middle for some sparkle. The main image is the happy santa from the Jolly Old Saint Nick Stamp Set (Retired). I stamped him in Basic Black and colored him with Blush Blossom, Cherry Cobbler and Pink Pirouette Stampin’ Write Markers. He is cut out with my Paper Snips and adhered to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. The greeting is from the same set and is stamped in Gumball Green. I double cut it out with the Labels Collection Framelits Dies and also cut another one in Gumball Green to back it. Stampin’ Dimensionals also hold it to the card. I really love the classic look of the santa and the sparkle of the Silver Glimmer Paper. I hope that you enjoyed this week’s Freshly Made Sketches card. Thank you for stopping by and for your comments. Have a bright and warm day! 🙂

Create with Connie and Mary Color Challenge 226

Good morning! Well, someone in New York must have really annoyed mother nature! We got 3 inches of snow today and some more howling wind! Because hurricane Sandy wasn’t enough! I hope she’s done with us for a while. I stopped home last night and it was 38 degrees in my house, now that is a little cold! Yes, there is still no power. But some more people that I live near got theirs back tonight so maybe tomorrow. 😛

Today’s post is for this week’s Create with Connie and Mary Challenge. This week we have a very nice color combination…

I love Midnight Muse. I wasn’t quite sure what I was going to do. At first I was thinking fall and then I thought no, a Christmas card. I do love non-traditional Holiday colors so this is perfect! The base of my card is Midnight Muse Card Stock. I embossed a piece of Cajun Craze with the Northern Flurry Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. Then I adhered a piece of Midnight Muse 3/8″ Stitched Satin Ribbon around the back with Sticky Strip before I adhered it to the base. The stamped image is from the Snow Swirled Stamp Set and is stamped in Midnight Muse on Whisper White. I stamped one the of the snowflakes in More Mustard and punched it out with the 1/2″ Circle Punch and adhered it with a Stampin’ Dimensional. Some Basic Jewels Rhinestones give it just a little sparkle. The greeting is stamped in Cajun Craze. I backed them both with More Mustard and adhered them to the base with Stampin’ Dimensionals. I love the elegance of the tree and the sparkle from the rhinestones. I hope that you enjoyed my Guest Designer card for this week’s Create with Connie and Mary Challenge. Don’t forget to visit the blog to see what all of the other talented designer have come up with and be sure to check out their Card Create-tions subscription for some great holiday card and gift ideas. Thank you so very much for stopping by today and I hope that you have a warm and cozy day! 🙂

Paper Craft Crew Sketch 15

Happy Wednesday! I hope that you are all well today. Yes, I still have no power, it’s been over a week. Sigh… it’s getting colder and electric would be nice! I hope that all of the other people have found a warm place to stay, I’ll be at Louis’ again. I’m sure that he will eventually tire of me! LOL!

Today’s post is for this week’s Paper Craft Crew. This week’s sketch is pretty neat. I liked it so much that I didn’t change anything! Here it is…

My card starts off with a base of Lucky Limeade Card Stock. On the right side we have a piece of paper from the Festival of Prints Designer Series Paper Stack. On the left side I took a piece of Crumb Cake and cut the edge with the Adorning Accents Edgelits Dies. I then ran it through the Big Shot again with the Delicate Designs Embossing Folder. Both of the background pieces are adhered to the card with SNAIL. The next element to go on the card are the fagged pieces of Lucky Limeade and Cherry Cobbler. The Very Vanilla piece is stamped with the Teeny Tiny Wishes Stamp Set in Crumb Cake and mounted to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. I cut the heart out with the Hearts Collection Framelits Dies and then embossed it with the Adorning Accents Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. It too is adhered to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. The cute little gingerbread man is from the Scentsational Season Stamp Set and is stamped in Crumb Cake and cut out with the Holiday Collection Framelits Dies. I love the gingerbread man with the heart behind him, he’s a very happy guy! I hope that you enjoyed my card for this week’s Paper Craft Crew Design Crew Challenge. Don’t forget to head over to the blog and check out the other designers cards and enter one of your own! Also, come back later today, we will be announcing the winner of our respective blog candy! Paper Players #120

Monday is here again and I am still without power. I did sneak home during “generator time” to make a card. I have been lucky enough to stay at my friend Louis’ house since Friday. My parents are also high on my awesome list as they took gas cans to the station when they got gas an got me 10 gallons! Like I said… awesome parents! The gas lines here on Long Island are still 2 to 3 hours long. There are so many people still without electricity. For all that we have accomplished in the past decade we still can’t manage to keep the lights on? Oh well, maybe someone will come up with a way soon. My thoughts and prayers are also with all of those that don’t have a house left to get lights in. It’s a tough time right now but we will all get through this and come out better!

Now on to happy stuff. Today’s post is for this week’s Paper Players. This week we have a “Give Thanks” challenge from Ann…

It’s a fitting challenge for our current situation. My card starts off with a base of Whisper White Card Stock. I used the Fancy Fan Textured Impressions Embossing Folder to emboss a piece of Island Indigo for my background. The large image is from the Quint-Essential Flower and is stamped in Pool Party and punched out with the 2 3/8″ Circle Punch. The greeting in the middle is from the Blooming With Kindness Stamp Set and is stamped in Island Indigo and punched out with the 1 1/4″ Circle Punch. The smaller images are from the Circle Circus Stamp Set. The ones that are punched out with the 1 3/4″ Scallop Circle Punch are stamped in Pool Party and the tiny ones are stamped in Island Indigo. I thought that it needed a little more so I used some butterflies cut out with the Beautiful Wings Embosslit in Whisper White. All of the elements are adhered to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. I needed a happy card with some brighter colors and I think this fit the bill. I have a lot to be thankful for, my friends and family that have all been great! I’m a very lucky guy and I know it. I hope that you enjoyed my card for this week’s Paper Players Challenge. Thank you so very much for visiting and for all of your comments. You make everything better too! 🙂

Pals Paper Arts 146

Wee, it’s the weekend… boo, I still have no power. In all seriousness no power is a small problem compared to what so many other people are going through. My heart goes out to all those that have suffered a loss. We also have this great gas issue to deal with which is definitely not bringing out the best in people. I have none left so I’ll be in for the weekend. I stayed at my friend Louis’ last night so no cold nose this morning. He was nice enough to come and get me! Friends really are the best remedy for almost anything!

Today’s post is for Pals Paper Arts. This time we have a color challenge…

The color combination would be nice for so many things but I immediately thought holiday card. The base of my card is Crumb Cake Card Stock. I embossed a piece of Riding Hood Red with the Lacy Brocade Textured Impressions Embossing Folder for the background and I tried something a little different, when I ran it through the Big Shot I did it on no tabs to give it a little more subtle look. All of the stamped images are from the Open Sleigh Stamp Set. I stamped the sleigh on a piece of Very Vanilla in Crumb Cake and then again in Riding Hood Red. Using my trusty Paper Snips, I cut out the red sleigh. The Merry Christmas is stamped in Riding Hood Red. I flagged the one end and used the Essentials Paper-Piercing Pack and the Paper-Piercing Tool to pierce the 3 sides. The greeting and the phrase are stamped in Riding Hood Red and I used the Postage Stamp Punch to edge them. I mounted all of the elements to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals including the sleigh. I love the vintage look of the card and the simplicity makes it a great card to duplicate. I hope that you enjoyed my Pals Paper Arts card. Hopefully you are all warm and will have a good day! Thank you for visiting!
