PPA 123 & Sneak Peek

Hello everyone! This weeks Pals Paper Arts Challenge was to get dressed up like Fred Astaire…

I decided that I would do a Valentine’s Day card in a rich color, but not your typical card. I give you the 3D box card. The card is cut from a 12 x 5 1/2 piece of Whisper White Card Stock. The windows were cut out using my trusty Paper Cutter. It folds flat and can be put in a standard A2 envelope. I used the new Take It to Heart Set  for the far image from the Occasion Mini Catalog that you can order from starting January 4, 2012. I stamped it in Rich Razzleberry and also used the same color Card Stock. The Silver Glimmer Paper was cut out using the new Framelits Hearts Collection also from the new Occasions Catalog along with the sentiment from the P.S. I Love You Stamp Set. Finally I used the new Adorning Edge Textured Impressions Embossing Folder for the hearts along the bottom of the card. For the perfect finishing touch I added some Basic Jewel Rhinestones to the top left corner. I am very happy with the way this card came out and hope that you like it too! Thanks for stopping by.

Mojo 218

For this weeks Mojo Monday Sketch Challenge I decided to do yet another Holiday card. I’m actually kind of upset that Christmas is almost upon us and soon we will be making Valentine’s cards instead. I’m sure that I’ll get over it quickly though, especially with all of the cool new stuff in the Occasions Mini Catalog! For this card I used some Brights Stack Designer Series Paper for the background. I punched the edge of some Marina Mist Smooth Card Stock with the Scallop Edge Punch and the scored some lines in it using the Simply Scored. On top of that I used the Perfect Polkadots Textured Impressions Embossing Folder on some Whisper White for some dimension and to tie it in with the dots on the background. I stamped the Noel from the Warmest of Wishes Clear Mount Hostess Set in the Holiday Mini Catalog and then punched it out with the Decorative Label Punch and popped it up on Some Stampin’ Dimensionals. I punched out some circles from the Frostwood Lodge Designer Series paper and used a Stampin’ Marker to put in the “string”. I love playing along each week and hope you enjoy the card. Plant Christmas

Good morning everyone! I hope that everyone is having a nice weekend. It’s a little chilly here in Blue Springs, MO today! For today’s card I used the Plant Hope Stamp Set with Early Espresso, Garden Green and Whisper White Card Stock. The set comes with three images and a saying. The three trees together are perfect for a Christmas card. I used markers in Garden Green and Early Espresso to color in the stamp. It’s one of my favorite techniques, it’s simple and the results are really nice. The Snow Burst Texture Impressions Embossing Folder gives a nice little punch of texture and I finished the card off with the Christmas Greetings Wood Mount Stamp Set. You don’t always need a holiday stamp set to make some nice holiday cards. I hope you enjoyed the card and that you have a nice day!

Butterfly Plaid Christmas

Sorry for my lack of posts of late, I’m away with a friend of mine visiting her family. We drove from Kansas City, MO to St. Louis, MO with her sister today. So, I am posting this tonight from the lovely city of St. Louis! This holiday card has my mother’s favorite embellishment on it… butterflies. I used the Beautiful Wings Embosslit to cut some butterflies out in Cherry Cobbler card stock. I thought that the Garden Green in the plaid from the Frostwood Lodge Designer series pack makes for a nice background and the Dotted Scalloped Ribbon Border Punch added a nice line to the middle. The sentiment is from the Delightful Dozen Stamp Set. I hope you enjoy the card and thanks for stopping by!

PPA 121

This weeks Pals Paper Arts challenge asks you for a clean and simple design and to add some pearls. I never thought of using the Button, Button Clear Mount Set with the Stitched Stockings before but I really like the way the two look together. I do love me some punches and the Stocking Builder Punch and Circle Punches coordinate with the two stamp sets. I used Rich Razzleberry, Sahara Sand and Whisper White Smooth Card Stock. I love making Christmas cards that don’t use the traditional red and green. The Stitched Stocking stamped in Rich Razzleberry looks elegant and the Basic Pearls on the snowflake in the middle give it a nice finishing touch. Using the Simply Scored to add some lines to the background is a fast and simple way to get an embossed look and give the card some texture. The greeting is from Petite Pairs which is another great set to have because it has an inside and outside greeting. I’m happy with the way the card came out and I think I’ll make some more of them for my Christmas cards. Thanks for stopping by and have a great day!

Mojo 216

For this weeks Mojo Monday Sketch I am keeping on with my Christmas cards. I’m still a big fan of the Letters to Santa Designer Series Paper. I like the colors that it coordinates with and the ornaments are so pretty. I used some Early Espresso, Marina Mist and Old Olive Smooth Card Stock to create this card. I used quite a few tools to put the whole thing together. The background is embossed with the Perfect Polkadots Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. You can barely see the “ribbon” but I did use my Color Spritzer Tool that I often forget that I have. I cut out the “25” from the Merry and Type Stamp Set, I should cut out a little more often, I need the practice! The circles were punched out with just about every one of the circle punches that I have. Stampin’ Dimensionals give it a little depth, I like some 3D! Finishing off the card is Merry Christmas from the Petite Pairs Wood Mount Stamp Set. I think it’s a must have for any stamper as it contains every greeting that you will ever need. PPA 120

I love playing along with the challenges at Pals Paper Arts each week. This weeks challenge is a sketch. I’m in love with the Christmas Lodge Stamp set from the Holiday Mini Catalog. The tree, as I have said before, creates such a nice crisp image. I decided to try a new color combination so I used Always Artichoke and Cherry Cobbler. I love the muted green shade of Always Artichoke, it gives the tree a vintage woodsy feel. The Snow Burst Textured Impressions Embossing Folder looks great on almost any color card stock. For the greeting I used my old standby Christmas Greetings. I hope that you enjoyed the card and that have a nice day!

Mojo 215

This weeks Mojo Monday Sketch Challenge is rectangles. For my card I decided to showcase the Holly Berry Bouquet-Etoile de Noel (Pines & Poinsettias) Product Suite. I used a base of Early Espresso Smooth Card Stock and put down some of the Holly Berry Bouquet Designer Series Paper. I then used the Perfect Polka Dots Embossing Folder on some more Early Espresso. I then stamped some Garden Green for a DSP look. I chopped off the greeting and it still looks nice and mounted that on some Cherry Cobbler. I markered another stamp from the set and punched it out with the Decorative Label Punch and used one of Mary Fish’s tricks to give it a border. Stitched Stockings Jingle Bells

To continue on with my Christmas Cards I made a note card size card with the Stitched Stockings stamp and the Stocking Builder punch. I used the Snow Burst Textured Impressions Embossing Folder and some Cherry Cobbler and Garden Green card stock with the stamping done on Whisper White. I was going to glue the Jingle Bells on and then I decided to use some linen thread to hang them from the stocking instead. The Christmas Greetings stamp provides the greeting. I am loving the holidays this year, probably because I started making my Christmas cards last month and it really has had some time to sink in! Thanks for stopping by and enjoy your day! 🙂

Cherry Cobbler Friendship Note Card

I have been in the Holiday mood when it comes to making cards lately and I thought it was time to take a little break. I couldn’t go that far away from the Holidays because I used Cherry Cobbler Smooth Card Stock! I love it when there is a stamp set and a coordinating punch. One of my favorites is the Bird Builder and The Language of Friendship. The bird has such great detail that you can even see it when it’s stamped in Basic Black on a dark color like Cherry Cobbler. I used the note card size just for a little change of pace. The Perfect Polkadots Embossing folder gives it just enough texture that it doesn’t take away from the rest of the card.
