SIP Challenge 70 – Tic-Tac-Toe!

It was so nice to have an actual day off yesterday, too bad it was to say goodbye to Heather’s Dad. The church service and the service at the cemetery were very sweet and thoughtful. After, all of us went to a restaurant called Paddy’s Loft. Heather’s Brother Scott spoke of their Dad and it was great to hear his memories. We all had good time and remembered him for the wonderful person that he was. In the end it was not sad but rather a lovely day dedicated to his memory. I was unusually tired when I got home and after I had dinner and FaceTimed with Andrea for a bit I took a two hour nap! Not like me at all! It did feel good but that resulted in me staying up much later than I wanted to! Today I’m flying solo at the Stamp, Ink, Paper Store, Renee has the day off. I’m going to make it a very productive day!

It’s Tuesday and that means that we have a new Stamp, Ink, Paper challenge for you…

I went diagonally from top left to bottom right! This card was sort of an evolution, more on that in a bit! The card base is Neenah Solar White 110lb Card Stock with the front covered in a piece of Dark Molasses. My piece of patterned paper is from the Authentique Fresh Collection 12×12 and the greeting from the Hero Arts Grateful Leaves Stamp & Die Combo is heat embossed in Hero Arts Copper Embossing Powder. I die cut the Hero Arts Branch Wreath Fancy Die from some Gold Mirror Card and adhered it to the card with Multi-Purpose Spray Adhesive. The leaves are also from the Hero Arts Grateful Leaves Stamp & Die Combo and are stamped in Hero Arts Vintage Metallic Ombre Ink. I heat set the ink, because I have no patience to let it dry (LOL) and then heat embossed the veins in more Hero Arts Copper Embossing Powder. They are adhered to the card with 3D Foam Squares. A piece of May Arts Natural Twine is tied in a multiple bow and adhered to the leaves with a Glue Dot and the card is finished. Or so I thought, the more I looked at it the more I felt it needed something more. So I used the Hero Arts Cardinal Stamp & Die Combo and some Wet Cement, Forever Green, Red Raspberry and Black Ink to make a female Cardinal. I Googled to see what they looked like because I didn’t want a red Cardinal and I think I got pretty close. Her is a picture for reference…

I cut her out with the Coordinating Frame Cut and adhered her to the card with more 3D Foam Squares. Some Black Gelly Roll Pen and Signo White Gel Pen is added to the eye for a little extra detail and a few Pretty Pink Posh Raspberry, Rose Gold and Gold Sequins for some sparkle and the card is finished! I think that the female Cardinal is just as pretty as the male in her own way and the card definitely feels more finished with her added! Mojo Monday 470

Well that weekend flew by! I woke up really late yesterday morning… again. I think that the toothache is wearing me out! I did get to the Stamp, Ink, Paper Store on time and managed to get to work as soon as I got in! I got my Newsletter finished and then worked on some projects. I did get a nice surprise visit from my friend Sandy who stopped by to get a few goodies! After work I had dinner with my Parents and then fished up my card for today. I won’t be at the store today as we are saying a final goodbye to Heather’s Dad Arthur. She will have her friends and family there with her. Her memories of him will get her through this difficult time.

On a happier note it’s time for this week’s Mojo Monday sketch…

I guess I really like the Concord & 9th Lacy Leaves Set, I just can’t stop using it! The card base is Neenah Solar White 110lb Card Stock. My background is a piece of Moonstone Blue, I cut off the top left corner on an angle and then tied a piece of Hemptique Black Hemp Twine around the corner with a bow. The background is then adhered to the card with Fun Foam and E-Z Runner. Next up I stamped the Concord & 9th Tree Ring Photopolymer Stamp in Onyx Black onto a piece of Solar White 80lb and cut it out with my Scissors. The panel is a piece of 48lb Vellum, I heat embossed the Lacy Leaf Stamp in Hero Arts Platinum onto it and then used a Mini Ink Blending Tool to apply some Avery Elle Sapphire Pigment Ink to color the Vellum. Across the top is a piece of Silver Glitter Paper with the left side flagged. I cut my greeting out of more of the Silver Glitter Paper and two pieces of Solar White 110lb using the Concord & 9th Grateful Leaves Die. Some Multi-Purpose Spray Adhesive adheres them to each other and some Multi-Matte Medium adheres it to the Vellum. I adhered the flagged strip with 3M Foam Tape and then added more Foam Tape to the back of the Vellum behind the flag and greeting to adhere it to the card. One of the small leaves from the set is also heat embossed and cut out with the Coordinating Dies and adhered to the flagged strip with more Foam Tape. A little sprinkling of Pretty Pink Posh Pewter, Sea Breeze and Silver Sequins competes the card. I really do love the Lacy Leaf Set and the Pigment Ink was a cool way to color the Vellum! City Night Sky Santa

It started off chilly here in the morning but warmed up as the day went on. The Stamp, Ink, Paper Store and Scrap-A-Latte were filled with peeps having fun with Renee’s wine glass candle holder projects! Taylor came up to the store and hung out for the day too! I got a few cards made and that is always a good day! After work my friend Marianne followed me home and we went up to IKEA. I had to get some pillowcases, I really like their sheets, they are 100% cotton! I also ended up getting a new area rug for the living room and Marianne picked up a few more things than she planned. After IKEA we went and had a little dinner at Noodles & Company. From there is was off to A. C. Moore, Marianne had a few things that she needed to get. When I got back to my house I sat down in the Stampin’ Galley and worked on today’s card! Today I have a bunch of things to get accomplished at the Store, I’ll be off tomorrow for Heather’s Dad’s funeral.

There was a nice little surprise waiting in the mailbox for me when I got home yesterday, the My Monthly Hero Kit finally arrived so of course I had to have a little play with it! The card base is the usual Neenah Solar White 110lb Card Stock. I covered the front in a piece of Black. To create my background I masked off about 1 1/4″ of the bottom of a piece of Solar White 80lb and used my Mini Ink Blending Tool to apply some Hero Arts Cornflower and Navy Ink. I then moved the mask and applied Grape Juice and Navy to the top part. I took a picture of the panel when I had finished my ink blending. You can see how it looks a little blotchy…

As you will see on the final card the ink evens out nicely after about 20 minutes! I used my heat tool to make sure that the ink was completely dry, I wanted to heat emboss the Santa and sleigh from the October My Monthly Hero Kit with some Onyx Black and Hero Arts Clear Embossing Powder. Next I die cut the cityscape and bridge from the Hero Arts Skylines Fancy Dies. The buildings are cut from Black and the bridge from Ionized Curious Metallic. I adhered the buildings with Dot Runner Adhesive and the bridge with Black 3D Foam Squares. My greeting is also from the stamp set included in the kit and is heat embossed in Hero Arts Platinum Embossing powder onto another piece of Black. The left side is flagged and more Black 3D Foam Squares adhere it to the card. The sky needed some stars so I picked a few out of the Little Things by Lucy Platinum Mix and adhered them with Multi-Matte Medium. I really do love the way the Hero Arts Inks blend, just a little patience and you get amazing results! I hope that you enjoyed my little city Holiday card today! Freshly Made Sketches 258

I have heard rumors that it’s going to be in the high 70’s next week! Yay for Indian Summer! So let’s see… yesterday at the Stamp, Ink, Paper Store I had a customer come by to make a few cards that she wanted to copy of mine. We had fun making them! Her name is Michelle and she is new to stamping so she picked up a few supplies and will be back for more lessons! Renee had some peeps come by to help her with her little wine glass project that will be on for today at the store. It’s also release day for Mama Elephant and the new sets that came in the other day will be available for purchase! I had to make some sympathy cards, not anyone’s favorite thing to do. I’ll send them out today. The services for Heather’s Dad will be on Monday. I hope that he gets a nice day.

My little bit of craftiness that I have to share with you today is for this week’s Freshly Made Sketches challenge! Before we get to this week’s sketch I want to thank Karren for selecting me as her Perfect Prince from last week’s sketch! You can see the winner’s post HERE and my original post HERE! Now for this week…

I used some more new goodies from Concord & 9th for my card! The base is Neenah Solar White 110lb Card Stock with the front covered in a piece of Kraft. I stamped the heart from the Concord & 9th Cozy Up Photopolymer Stamp Set in Vintage Sepia onto another piece of Kraft. The Coordinating Die is then used to cut out the negative heart from a piece of Herb Garden and that’s adhered over the Kraft. A strip of Chinese Red flagged at the bottom, goes down the left side. The two cups are from the same set and are heat embossed in Hero Arts Brass Embossing Powder onto some Dark Molasses and they are cut out with the Coordinating Dies and adhered to the heart with 3D Foam Squares. I stamped part of my greeting onto more Dark Molasses and the rest onto the card base, they too are both heat embossed in Brass. The stay is then partially cut out from the strip, leaving it hanging over the top and bottom, and adhered to the card with more 3D Foam Squares. I added just a few Pretty Pink Posh Metallic Red, Rose Gold and Gold Sequins to finish off the card! I love the wood heart, so cool and different and I also really like the effect of the greeting partially cut from the strip! Fab Friday 98

I got my new Concord & 9th and Mama Elephant yesterday at the Stamp, Ink, Paper Store and got it all checked in. I couldn’t wait to play with the new Concord & 9th as you’ll see by today’s card! I did get some very sad news, Heather’s Dad Arthur passed away. Unfortunately Heather was in Boston when it happened and had to come home but didn’t get to the hospital in time. She was very close to her Dad and is very upset. He was a very nice man with a great sense of humor. I was lucky enough to get to know him through family vacations and holidays. He will definitely be missed. My toothache is no better, I think I may ask someone to run over my head and that’s where I’m at! 😀

It’s an extra good Friday because it’s a Fab Friday. This time we have a timely color combo…

Like I said, I used some new Concord & 9th goodies on today’s card! The base is Neenah Solar White 110lb Card Stock with the front covered in a piece of Black where I heat embossed the greeting from the Concord & 9th Happy Words Photopolymer Stamp Set in Hero Arts White. To make the shaker I used the new Concord & 9th Happy Card Frame and Mistletoe Card Frame Add-On Dies. It’s cut from Crisp Green with the bow from Purple Hearts and the berries from Candied Yam. I backed it with some Acetate and Foam Tape. My shaker filling is Spring Green and Purple Velvet Sequin Mixes from Little Things by Lucy. I added it to the card font and then adhered the window to it. I love the way that the Card Frame Dies work! They are so cool and I can’t wait to see what additional dies they come out with. Mojo Monday 469

I hope that your weekend was as nice as mine! Yesterday morning Heather and I went to the Deli and had flagels for breakfast before heading over to Valley Stream to pick up her brother. The traffic wasn’t too bad heading into Manhattan but once we got in boy was there a lot! It didn’t take us too long to get to the Javits Center and drop off Russell at Comic-Con. But it took us an hour to get from the Javits Center over to 72nd and Lexington. I got to Jim and Diane’s at 11:00 and Heather had to head back to Valley Stream to stay with her grandmother because they had to take her Dad to the Hospital again. I had a nice visit with Jim and Diane and I got to meet their Daughter Wendy and her daughter too! Around 1:00 I was going to head back to Penn Station when Kim called me and asked if I wanted to meet her for lunch, of course I did! We went to 5 Napkins Burgers and boy were they delicious! The fries were excellent too! After lunch we took a walk over to the Nespresso Store on Madison seeing as the rain finally stopped. We tried a few different kinds of espresso and I bought a few sleeves of pods to take home. I left Kim at 60th and Lexington to get the N back to Penn which took forever to come. Once I got to Penn I had to figure out how I was going to go to get home. There was a derailment on the Ronkonkoma line, the one I usually take, so I had to take a train to Massapequa and have my Parents come and get me. I saw Taylor for a little while when I got home, her mouth is feeling much better. I straightened up a little and made a plan of attack to get the rest of the house cleaned up before calling it a night. Back to the Stamp, Ink, Paper Store this morning, I have a bunch of projects to finish!

Monday so it’s time for another Mojo Monday sketch challenge…

Today’s card starts off with a base of Neenah Solar White 110lb Card Stock, the front is covered in a piece of Herb Garden. I used the Concord & 9th with Simon Says Stamp Cozy Christmas Photopolymer Stamp Set for all of my images and greeting. The outline image is stamped in Altenew Dark Chocolate Ink onto a piece of Kraft to create my background. Next up is a piece of 48lb Vellum that I cut out with the Lawn Fawn Dotted Circle Stackables Lawn Cuts. A panel and a strip with the end flagged of Dark Molasses is added next. My greeting from the set is heat embossed in Hero Arts Copper Embossing Powder onto more Herb Garden and adhered to the card with Fun Foam and E-Z Runner. I stamped the pinecones twice using my Mini MISTI and more Dark Chocolate Ink to get the layers perfectly aligned. They are cut out with the Coordinating Die. One is adhered to the top after being trimmed and the other next to the greeting, both with 3D Foam Squares. I added a few Pretty Pink Posh Mossy Green and Rose Gold Sequins to complete the card. I love the way that you can get a nice layered look with just the one ink color and the set is definitely a favorite of mine! Paper Craft Crew 214

Sometimes a day away from the Stamp, Ink, Paper Store is actually more work than being there! LOL! I had somewhat forgotten that I have my first solo post over on the Where Creativity Meets Concord & 9th Blog today so yesterday morning I made a card and typed my post for that. (If you want see that post you click HERE, it goes live at 11:00am!) Around 11:30 I went over and picked up Taylor and took her to the Dentist for her 12:15 appointment. At 1:05, still sitting there in the waiting room I started to get a little miffed! I had to be on a 1:44 train so my Parent’s came over and waited for her to finish. My Mum text me and told me that she was hysterical laughing when she came out from the anesthesia, I’m sorry that I missed that! I did make my train and relaxed and listened to my music all the way in. I went in a little early so that I could get a late lunch. I found a Chop’t in my travels and had a lovely salad and my favorite Pelligrino Lemon! From there I went over to see my friend Ella. She made me two Illy Lungos and we chatted for a while. Around 6:30 I headed back to Penn and got the 7:11 home. The train was packed but I had my headphones on and was in my own little world! I had a corn muffin (good thing I had the salad!) for dinner and then watched a little TV. Today I have to get ready for the Haunted House class, Sue is going to come and help me! She is so good!

Mid week and I’m over on the Paper Craft Crew blog for this week’s sketch challenge…

This time the challenge will run for two weeks! Yay! My card base is Neenah Solar White 110lb Card Stock. I stamped the brushstrokes from the Hero Arts Vintage Post Photopolymer Stamp Set in Soft Pool Ink. Across that, a little tilted, is a piece of Carta Bella Winter Fun Paper. I curled up the edges just a little for some added interest. My ornament is cut out with the die from the Hero Arts Winter Cheer Tag Set by Lia from a piece of Silver Glitter Paper. I also cut out a piece of Solar White 110lb and adhered it to the silver with Multi-Purpose Adhesive. The tag is then adhered to the card with 3D Foam Squares. Both of the greetings are from the same set. The winter wishes is heat embossed in Hero Arts Gold onto a piece of 48lb Vellum and I used my Scissors to cut out. Some Kool-Tak Clear Foam Tape adheres it to the ornament. My season’s greetings is also heat embossed in Gold onto more Solar White 110lb, I flagged both ends and adhered it with more 3D Foam Squares. Here come the sequins! LOL! I added some Cornflower, Silver, Gold and Sparkling Clear ones with Multi-Matte Medium and the card is finished! I really do love that tag cut from the Silver and the gold greetings, especially the fussy cut one, are so cool! I hope that you like my Design Team card for the Paper Craft Crew Sketch Challenge! Mojo Monday 468

I really enjoyed my weekend and hope that you did too! Yesterday at the Stamp, Ink, Paper Store we had our first Hand Lettering Class taught by the lovely Paula Andrea! I took the class and learned the basics, included in the class is an excellent workbook so we can all practice, and I’m going to need a lot! If you want to see some of Paula’s work you can find her on Instagram HERE! She was an excellent teacher and we can’t wait to have her back! After work I came home and saw my little buddy Daniel at my Parent’s for a bit before heading over to pick up Kim so that we could go to Govenor’s Comedy Club for the Fire Department Fundraiser. We met up with Brian and I got to see my friends Mike and Michelle who I haven’t seen in ages! It was nice to catch up with them! The last comedian of the night, Mick Thomas, was hysterical! I think that the Irish accent made him even funnier! What a nice way to end the weekend!

And it’s Monday so that means that I’m over on the Mojo Monday blog for this week’s sketch challenge…

Of course I had to play with a new Mama Elephant set! The card base is Ivory 110lb Card Stock. My background is a piece of paper from the Echo Park Wintertime 12×12 Collection. For the band across the lower half I used the Lawn Fawn Scalloped Rectangles Stackables Lawn Cuts to trim off the lower part of a piece of Gold Mirror Card and added a strip of Echo Park This & That 12×12 Paper across it before adhering it to the card. That super cute “Charlie Brown” tree is from the new Mama Elephant O’ Tiny Tree Photopolymer Stamp Set. I stamped the trunk and branches in Dark Chocolate Crisp Ink and colored in the image with Copics. The pine needles are stamped in Evergreen Crisp Ink. My lights and string are heat embossed in Hero Arts Copper Embossing Powder, the ornament hook in Platinum and the ornament in Gold. I colored in the lights and ornament in with Copics and added a generous dose of Wink of Stella Clear Glitter Brush Pen to the ornament. My greeting is from the same set and is stamped in Onyx Black. I used my We R Memory Keepers Corner Chomper to round the corners and adhered the panel to the card with Fun Foam and E-Z Runner. Up in the left corner is a piece of Black 110lb adhered to the card with Foam Tape. I hand cut the tag from more Gold Mirror Card and then added a Natural Twine bow to it before adhering it to the card with a Glue Dot. I’m totally in love with the little tree! Mum’s Birthday Card & Mama Elephant!

What a lovely day I had yesterday! I met Sandy at the Seaford Train Station at 9:15AM so we could take the 9:45 train into Manhattan. We stopped at The Ink Pad so I could drop off some merchandise for Anna. I got see my Jane! From there Sandy and I headed over to Dirty Bird for lunch, so delicious! We wandered around the Meat Packing District for a bit and then headed over to WestBeth for the Mama Elephant 4th Annual Anniversary Event. Lots of new stamp and die sets and some older ones that I just had to have! We met up with my friend Nancy and sat and talked to her for a while. I also got to see Angela and Kryssi from Mama Elephant! We are going to work on having them come out the Stamp, Ink, Paper Store for an event! YAY! Around 3:45 we headed out and stopped at Starbucks on the way back to The Ink Pad. Sandy met up with her son David and his girlfriend and I hung out with Patrice and Jane for a bit before heading back to Penn to catch the train. I got a text from my Mum that they were still at my Brother’s so I drove there straight from the train station. The first thing I see when I walk in is Taylor fast asleep on the couch! Erika saved me some of the chicken parmesan that they had for dinner and a wonderful piece of Red Velvet cake. I got play with my little buddy Daniel, we played with his Mickey train and then he showed me his toys in the playroom. By the time I got home it was 9:00 and I was done! Today we have a Hand Lettering Class given by a friend that I found through my friend Dianne at the Store, I’m taking it too! Can’t wait! I did remember to take some pictures! Here is the courtyard outside of where they have the event space at WestBeth…

And since WestBeth is technically artist housing there is always some neat artwork around. I love this funky sculpture that’s on the way in to the area that the event space is…

I love that little Charlie brown tree!!

Since it was Mum’s Birthday yesterday I thought I would share the card that I made for her with you today! The card base is Neenah Solar White 110lb Card Stock. All of the flower images are from one of my all time favorite stamp sets, the Altenew Beautiful Day Photopolymer Stamp Set. I stamped the flower in Soft Lilac, Lavender Fields, Deep Iris and Midnight Violet, the leaves are stamped in Frayed Leaf, Forest Glades and Evergreen all with my Mini MISTI. I heat embossed the additional images in Hero Arts Gold Embossing Powder onto 48lb Vellum and used the Coordinating Dies to cut them all out. They are all adhered with Vellum Adhesive and 3D Foam Squares. My greeting is from the Altenew Super Script 2 Photopolymer Stamp Set and is stamped in Midnight Violet again with my Mini MISTI. Of course the card needed some sparkle so I added a few Pretty Pink Posh Amethyst, Pansy Purple, Mossy Green, Lime Sorbet and Gold Sequins! Purple is my Mum’s favorite color so she loved the card! Freshly Made Sketches 256

Yay for Saturday! It’s also World Card Making Day! I really should be at the Stamp, Ink, Paper Store but I’m off to Manhattan to attend the Mama Elephant 4th Anniversary Party! I had so much fun there last year I just had to go again! Sandy is going with me and we are going to have a little lunch before the event! Renee is celebrating International Coffee Day at the Store, not be confused with National Coffee Day which was Thursday. I was only in the Store for a 1/2 day yesterday. I had to go to the Post Office and then I stopped at Heather’s and had a late lunch with her. We ran a few errands and then I came home and crafted for a bit. I also did a little laundry, something that I have to try and fit in instead of on my usual Sunday. Will any of you be in the city today? It’s also my Mum’s Birthday today! Happy Birthday Mum!!

One of the cards that I made last night is for this week’s Freshly Made Sketches challenge…

I wanted a very clean card with only heat embossing, here’s what I came up with! My card base is Ivory 110lb Card Stock. I covered the front in a piece of Champagne Curious Metallic. On another piece of Ivory 110lb I flagged the bottom and then heat embossed the solid part of the flower from the Concord & 9th You Are Enough Photopolymer Stamp Set in Hero Arts Gold Embossing Powder. Next I heat embossed the outline in Hero Arts Copper Embossing Powder and then the greeting again in Gold. The flagged piece is then adhered to the card with Fun Foam and E-Z Runner. A sprinkling of Gold and Rose Gold Pretty Pink Posh Sequins completes the card! Like I said very clean and only heat embossed! I love the way the flower looks in both the gold and copper!
