Freshly Made Sketches 219 & Card Class Cards

I want to thank all of you for your wonderful comments yesterday! I have the best blog peeps in the world! Remember that without you I wouldn’t have the opportunity to get to share with you everyday! So as a little surprise I have some blog candy for you! I’m going to take all of the comments from yesterday and randomly pick a winner! I’ll announce who it is on tomorrow’s post! That’s my little way of saying thank you!

Card class was great as it always is, we had some new people and they are all signed up for next month! I got to the store early and had dinner with Renee, some Panera! I had my favorite grilled cheese with tomato soup! After class Melissa stayed behind and helped me clean up! Thanks Melissa! The cards from class will be at the end of today’s post! I came home and had some coffee and relaxed for a bit before calling it a day. Not sure what’s going on for the weekend, how about you?

Today I have my card for this week’s Freshly Made Sketches challenge but I want to thank Cindy H. for making me her Perfect Prince for last week’s challenge! You can see the winner’s post HERE and my original post HERE! Now for this week’s sketch…

    Freshly Made Sketches 219

Another nice and simple one! My card base is Neenah Solar White 110lb Card Stock. I took a piece of Smoky Slate and adhered a piece of paper from the DoodleBug Polar Pals 6×6 Paper Pad on the left and then stamped some snowflakes from the Simon Says Stamp Cute Snowflakes Photopolymer Stamp Set in Simon Says Stamp Smoke Ink on the right. Some SNAIL adheres the panel to the card. The main panel is a piece of Solar White 80lb, I cut out two pieces of it with the Simon Says Stamp Stitched Rectangles. The second piece is then cut with the Simon Says Stamp Stitched Slopes and Hills Craft Dies. I adhered a sticker from the DoodleBig Polars Pals Icons Cardstock Stickers to the rectangle and then adhered the hill to it with Foam Tape. The penguin and snowflake are also form the same stickers and are adhered to the card with Foam Tape and SNAIL. My greeting is also from the Cute Snowflakes Photopolymer Stamp Set and is stamped in Smoke Ink too. I adhered the panel to the card with Fun Foam and SNAIL. A few Pretty Pink Posh Aquamarine, Amethyst and Marshmallow Sequins finish the card! I really do like the DoodleBug Polars Pals goodies a lot, I think that it’s the awesome combination of colors and the cute stickers don’t hurt either! I hope that you enjoyed my card for this week’s Freshly Made Sketches challenge! Thank you so much for your visit and I wish you all a spectacular Saturday! 🙂

Another week almost done! Yes, I’m still freezing, but we won’t talk about that anymore! I got up late again yesterday but still managed to get my laundry started before I went over to Heather’s to finish up her Mac issues. She made some delicious panini for lunch along with a salad. We watched some old Janet Jackson videos on YouTube before I came back home and FaceTimed with Andrea while I worked on my projects for today’s post. I will be spending most of the day at Scrap-A-Latte prepping for class, it’s tonight and tomorrow. FUN!

Today I’m participating in a blog hop with a bunch of my friends from one of the Facebook groups that I belong to. It’s called One Stamp at a Time Cards and More. This month it’s No Rules for the New Year! We could make anything that we want! If you have arrived here from Dena’s blog welcome! She had some great projects, didn’t she?! I have a card and a fun gift card holder for you today so let’s get to it!

First we’ll cover the card. I played with some more Stampin’ Up! goodies, there was one whole page in the Occasions Catalog that I just had to have! The card base is Neenah Solar White 110lb Card Stock with the front covered in a piece of Black 110lb. I used the World Traveller Textured Impressions Embossing Folder to emboss a piece of Crumb Cake and then used my Ranger Mini Ink Blending Tool and some Hickory Smoke Distress Ink to bring out the detail. It’s adhered to the card with Fun Foam and SNAIL. The plane is from the Sky’s the Limit Stamp Set from Sale-A-Bration and the greeting is from the Going Global Stamp Set. Both are heat embossed in Ranger Liquid Platinum Embossing Powder on Vellum. I cut the plane out with my Paper Snips and the greeting out with one of the Circles Collection Framelits. The plane is adhered with Kool-Tak Clear Foam Tape and the greeting with Multi-Matte Medium. Some Pretty Pink Posh Onyx Hazel and Ruby The Makery Shine & Sparkle Sequins finish off the card. I love that embossing folder and the plane is just so cool!

    OSAT January Blog Hop-Card-WM

Now on to the gift card holder. I cut out a piece of paper from the Going Places Designer Series Paper Stack with the Gift Card Envelope and Trims Thinlits and assembled it with Scor-Tape. The plane and greeting are both from the Going Places Stamp Set. The greeting is heat embossed in Hero Arts White Embossing powder right on the envelope and the plane is heat embossed in Ranger Liquid Platinum on Solar White 80lb and cut out with my Paper Snips. I adhered the plane to the holder with Foam Tape and it’s finished! The perfect place to put a little something in for a birthday or just about any other occasion!

    Paper Craft Crew 177

Again… way too cold for me! It was incredibly windy here yesterday, like gale force wind which made it even colder! Nope, not for me! I was at Scrap-A-Latte all day and I spoke to Michael, FaceTimed with Andrea, got a visit from my friend Paul, I even got to see Angie before her class. When I got to my parent’s Daniel was still there so I got see him for a bit and had some dinner. I came home and made a quick card before heading over to Heather’s to help her with some computer stuff. We did a quick Target run and watched some YouTube videos while waited for the Mac to update. A very good day indeed!

My quick card that I made is for this week’s Paper Craft Crew sketch challenge…

    PCCCS177 DT Sketch 1-13-2016

I mentioned that I got some new goodies from Stampin’ Up! and they helped me create today’s card! The base is Neenah Solar White 110lb Card Stock. I used the Labels Collection Framelits to cut out a piece of paper from the Pretty Petals Designer Series Paper Stack. Across that is a piece of Basic Black that I embossed with the Softly Falling Textured Impressions Embossing Folder and adhered it to the card with Fun Foam and SNAIL. My greeting and flower are from the Picture Perfect Photopolymer Stamp Set. I stamped the greeting in Versa-Fine Onyx Black Ink on a piece of Solar White 80lb and flagged the ends before adhering it to the black with Foam Tape. The rose is stamped in Blushing Bride, Strawberry Slush and Smoky Slate, the leaves in Pear Pizzaz, Always Artichoke and Mossy Meadow, they are all cut out with my Paper Snips and adhered to the card with more Foam Tape. A few Pretty Pink Posh Onyx and one big Sparkling Clear Sequin complete the card. I love the way all of the black really makes the rose pop! I also love the shading that the Smoky Slate gives to the rose! I hope that you like my Design Team card for this week’s Paper Craft Crew sketch challenge! Don’t forget to check out the blog and see what the rest of the Team has done! Thank you so much for visiting with me today! Have a wicked Wednesday! 🙂

    SIP Challenge 30 – Colors!

It was way too cold for me here yesterday, 32?! Nope, too cold! I was at Scrap-A-Latte all day and I even made a little card with some scraps. Sandy stopped by to see me for a little while and I spoke to Renee who was busy meeting with people and running around CHA! I got home around 7:20 and ate some chili from mum. I got an order from Stampin’ Up! yesterday too, can’t wait to play with some of those new goodies! I’m back at Scrap-A-Latte again today, everything in the store is 20% off and all patterned paper and embellishments are 40% off, Renee needs to make some room for the new stuff that is coming! I also have somewhat of a big milestone coming up on Friday, I’ll tell you more about that then!

Tuesday and it’s time for another Stamp, Ink, Paper Challenge, this week we have some colors for you to work with…

    SIP 30 Color Challenge 800

I made a fun card using a bunch of die cuts layered together! The card base is Neenah Solar White 110lb Card Stock. I used the Simon Says Stamp Stitched Rectangles to cut out a piece of Rose Red. Some Crumb Cake is cut out with the Simon Says Stamp Stitched Ovals and adhered to the Rose Red rectangle and that is adhered to the card with Fun Foam and SNAIL. Another piece of Rose Red is cut out with the Calliope Flourish Craft Die and adhered to the card with Multi-Matte Medium. Some Gold Foil Sheet is cut out with the Simon Says Stamp Ariana Wreath and Leanna Butterfly. I adhered the wreath with Multi-Matte Medium and the butterfly with a piece of Kool Tak Clear Foam Tape. My greeting is from the Hero Arts Acts of Kindness Photopolymer Stamp Set and is heat embossed on a piece of Vellum with Gold Stampin’ Emboss Powder and punched out with the 1 3/8″ Circle Punch. That is also adhered with Kool Tak Clear Foam Tape. I love all of the layered die cuts and the fun simple greeting! Mojo Monday 430

Thanks for the feedback on the new blog design! I appreciate your comments! The biggest complaint was the header scrolling down and covering up some of the page so I have changed it so that it stays at the top! I hope that makes it easier for the mobile devices! Yesterday it rained all day so I was crafty in the morning! Best kind of day to do that! Around noon my friend Maureen came by and picked me up, we went to McDonald’s for lunch. I haven’t had McDonald’s in years! From there it was off to Stop & Shop to do some grocery shopping. We dropped them off at her house and then came back to my house and took down the Christmas tree. I kept it up as long as I could! LOL! After we finished with that we watched Juno, I forgot how funny that movie was! She left around 5:00 and I went and had some dinner. Back home to Skype with Eva for a bit and that was my Sunday! I’ll be over at Scrap-A-Latte for the day today and tomorrow, Renee will be back on Wednesday with loads of info from CHA!

What better way to start another week than with a new Mojo Monday sketch?! Here is this week’s…

    Mojo430

I used one of my favorite sets from Simon that now has coordinating dies! The card base is Neenah Solar White 110lb Card Stock. All of the images and greetings are from the Simon Says Stamp I See You Photopolymer Stamp Set. I heat embossed the heart on a piece of Real Red with Gold Stampin’ Emboss Powder and cut out with the coordinating die. The panel down the left side is a piece of paper form the PinkFresh Studios Christmas Wishes 6×6 Paper Pad. I adhered it to the card with Fun Foam and SNAIL tucking the heart under it. Across the top is a piece of Real Red with the left side flagged. I heat embossed the i see you in Hero Arts White Embossing Powder and adhered it to the card with SNAIL and more Fun Foam. The speech bubble is stamped in Simon Says Stamp Cloudy Sky Ink and cut out with the coordinating die, some Foam Tape holds it in place. The Vellum square has the greeting heat embossed again in Hero Arts White. My glasses are heat embossed in more Gold Stampin’ Emboss Powder on Black 110lb and along with the ampersand which is stamped in Versa-Fine Onyx Black, are both cut out with the coordinating dies and adhered to the vellum with Foam Tape. I hid the adhesive behind the glasses to adhere the vellum to  the card. A few Pretty Pink Posh Gold and Red Sequins complete the card! I really do love that set, especially the glasses and heart! I hope that you enjoyed my Design Team card for this week’s Mojo Monday Sketch Challenge! Stop by the blog and check out the rest of the Team’s cards and enter yours in the gallery! I am so not enjoying this colder weather! It was 14 degrees this morning, that’s just not necessary! I thought that my favorite feature of my car was the convertible part but the heated seats are running a close second! How many more days until Spring?! I had a somewhat productive day, I crafted and looked into finally updating my blog to the look that I actually moved it for over a year ago! Sometimes that backend stuff is a little complicated and you need to step away from it for a little… well… long time and go back and take another look! Hopefully by the end of the week the new look will be up barring any new snags! I got to see little Daniel for a bit too and Taylor graced me with her presence for a short visit! I ran out last night to get gas and it was far too cold for me to do anything else, I couldn’t wait to get back into the warm house! Today I’ll be going over to see my friend Sue! Love spending time with her!

My card for today is for this week’s Paper Craft Crew sketch challenge…

    PCCCS176 DT Sketch 1-06-2016

I played with some more Concord & 9th goodies on today’s card, loving them! The base is Neenah Solar White 110lb Card Stock. Down the left side is a piece of Scotch Black Glitter Washi Tape and some Ruler Washi Tape. I used an old Stampin’ Up! sunburst stencil and some Simon Says Stamp Goldenlocks Ink with a Ranger Mini Ink Blending Tool to create the circle. It’s cut out with a Sizzix Circles Framelit and adhered to the card with Fun Foam and SNAIL. The lightbulb and greeting are from the Concord & 9th Shine Brighter Photopolymer Stamp Set. I heat embossed the light bulb on Vellum using Hero Arts White Embossing Powder and Ranger Liquid Platinum for the filament. The base is more Liquid Platinum embossed on Brushed Silver. They are both cut out with the coordinating Shine Brighter Dies. I used Multi-Matte Medium to adhere the bulb and SNAIL for the base. My greeting is heat embossed on a piece of Black 110lb with more Hero Arts White and also cut out with the Sizzix Circles. I added a few Wood Veneer Stars around the greeting and some Pretty Pink Posh Onyx and Sparkling Clear Sequins to finish the card. Yes, I am a little obsessed with that Black Glitter Washi and the sequins, well we all know how I feel about those! I hope that you enjoyed my Design Team card for this week’s Paper Craft Crew Sketch challenge! Stop by the blog and check out the rest of the Team’s cards! Thank you for your visit, it’s always good to have you stop by! I wish you all a wonderful Wednesday! 🙂

  • SIP Challenge 29 – A Sketch!

I hope that you all survived your first day back to work! I went over to Scrap-A-Latte to see Renee for a bit. It had been way too long since I have seen her and we got caught up and I picked up some paper to make the cards for this month’s card classes. From there I came back home and FaceTimed with Andrea for a bit and made my card for today. I spoke to Michael for a while and then had some spaghetti for dinner at Mum and Dad’s. Later on I took a ride over to see Heather and we watched the end of The Notebook and The Lucky One. She is a big fan of ABC Family! LOL! It was quite chilly here, especially last night, and I miss our warm December already!

It’s time for this week’s Stamp, Ink, Paper Challenge and this week we have a sketch from Carolyn…

    SIP Sketch Challenge 29 800

I got some goodies from Concord & 9th yesterday in the mail that I will be using for a class at The Ink Pad on January 29th so I decided that I would break them in! The card base is Ivory 110lb Card Stock with a strip of Gold Glimmer Paper across the top. I stamped the Tree Ring Photopolymer Stamp in Soft Suede on a piece of Sahara Sand and cut it out with my Paper Snips. It’s adhered to the card with SNAIL. The three flags are a piece of 1 1/4″ Burlap Ribbon, 7/8″ Natural Cotton Ribbon and a piece of denim from an old pair of jeans. They are all adhered to the card with Scor-Tape. I heat embossed the heart and love from the Tree Hugs Photopolymer Stamp Set in Gold Stampin’ Emboss Powder on Vellum and cut that out with my Paper Snips too. It’s adhered to the card with Kool Tak Clear Foam Tape. For a little extra sparkle I added some Pretty Pink Posh Gold Sequins to the tree ring. I love the stamps and all of the texture from the ribbons and denim! A nice masculine Valentine! I hope that you enjoyed my Design Team card for this week’s Stamp, Ink, Paper Sketch Challenge from Carolyn! Head on over to the BLOG and see the rest of the Team’s cards along with out Guest Designer for January, Dena Rekow! Thank you so much for coming by today! I wish you all an amazing Tuesday! 🙂

  • Golden Wish Thanks

Hello there and welcome to the last Monday of 2015! My weekend was great, as it always is when I spend it in Manhattan! I had another fun day yesterday. I stopped by my friends Jon and Mary’s in the morning and they gave me a big bottle of maple syrup that had brought back from one of their trips up to their house in Vermont. Can’t wait to have that on some homemade waffles! From there I headed down to The Ink Pad to hang out with Jane. We had another fun and busy day. Before I headed back out to the Island I met up with Kim at Grand Central for dinner. We had Junior’s. It was the biggest hamburger I have had in a long time and the pickles and cole slaw were delicious! Grand Central and Penn Station were very crowded with people making their way home after the long Holiday weekend but I managed to get a seat on the train and was home by 9:15. I checked my Apple Watch last night and between Saturday and Sunday I walked a total of 12 miles and since I walk so fast it burned off 1200 calories! Not bad for some exercise this weekend!

As I was perusing the Internet yesterday I noticed that I was on the Trending with the Ton post from Saturday! They featured my card for the class that I gave at The Ink Pad using the Pyrotechnics Set! You can take a look at the post HERE! Love that set!!

And I have another picture of Daniel to share with you from Christmas! So cute and my brother is a really good photographer!

    Daniel Christmas 2015

While I was at The Ink Pad yesterday I was looking around and I saw this cool small background stamp from Memory Box, I think it’s one from last year but I fell in love with the script on it so I had to have it and that’s what I used on my card for today! The base is Neenah Solar White 110lb Card Stock. I heat embossed the background stamp on a piece of Cherry Cobbler in Hero Arts White Embossing Powder and adhered it to the card off center and down to the right a bit using some SNAIL and Fun Foam. A thin strip of Recollections Gold Glitter Paper is adhered down the left and also used with my little EK Success Snowflake Punch. I heat embossed the thanks from the Simon Says Stamp I See You Photopolymer Stamp Set in Gold Stampin’ Emboss Powder and adhered that over the wish sentiment that is on the background stamp. A few Pretty Pink Posh Gold Sequins going from the top left to the bottom right complete the card! I do love when you can have a background stamp be the focal point on a card! I hope that you like today’s card and as always, thanks so much for coming by! Enjoy your last Monday of 2015!! 🙂

  • Mason Jar Joy

And there are a little less than two more days left until Christmas! Am I ready… nope! I got a few more things accomplished yesterday before I headed into Manhattan for a bit to see Isabella. It was a very rainy and damp day here yesterday and looks to be the same today, but it’s still nice and warm! Heather picked me up from the Hicksville Station with some Wendy’s and we ran over to Target to pick up some odds and ends. I stopped back home for a few minutes before heading over to Heather’s for Thirsty Tuesday! We had to do it early this week because Thursday is Christmas Eve! A good time was had by all as usual! I finished my card that I was working on when I got home and then was too tired so off to bed. Apparently I was really tired because I woke up late today!

The card for today is a simple shaker! I started off with a base of Neenah Solar White 110lb Card Stock. On a piece of Solar White 80lb I stamped some images from the Hero Arts Winter Scene Photopolymer Stamp Set in Simon Says Stamp Cloudy Sky, Green Leaf, Khaki and Fog Ink on a piece of Solar White 80lb. To create the shaker I cut out the Hero Arts Large Mason Jar from a piece of Cherry Cobbler and heat embossed the sentiment from the Hero Arts Joy to the World Photopolymer Stamp Set in Hero Arts White Embossing Powder. To the back I adhered a piece of Acetate and then a layer of Foam Tape. Some Martha Stewart Chunky Glitter is added on top of the image and then I lined it up and adhered the two piece together. A strip of Recollections Sliver Smooth Glitter Paper is adhered to the base and then the shaker panel is adhered next to that. A pretty quick and simple shaker to make but still a fun card to give! I hope that you enjoyed my card for today! Thanks very much for visiting and have a wonderful Wednesday! 🙂

  • NYC Coffee Ornament

Yet another fun day at The Ink Pad! There was a steady flow of customers all day and one of them just happened to be Julianne Moore! Talk about nice! Such a sweet lady and just as amazing in person as she is in the movies! Anna and I had some Hummus & Pita Co. for lunch and it was quite tasty, for dessert some Starbucks! Still loving that Holiday Spice Flat White! I also got myself a Starbucks Christmas ornament, the black and gold one! See isn’t it nice…

Starbucks Balck & Gold Holiday 2015

I love the NYC on it! I also managed to stay awake on the train on the way home and got off at my correct stop! Upon arriving home I had a little crafty time and then watched some TV. I’m back in the city again tomorrow to see my friend Isabella for a bit!

My crafty project for last night was another ornament, I know, I’m a little obsessed, but they are so much fun to make! The backing for this one is Ivory 110lb Card Stock that I cut out with the Papertrey Ink Basic Backer Die. Another piece of Ivory 110lb is cut out with the Simon Says Stamp Nested Circles Craft Dies. The skyline is cut form Black 110lb Card Stock with the My Favorite Things Die-namics New York Skyline Die and then again with the Nested Circle for a perfect fit. The greeting and coffee cups are form the Lawn Fawn Love You A Latte Photopolymer Stamp Set, I stamped heat embossed the greeting with Gold Stampin’ Emboss Powder on Vellum also cut out with the Nested Circles and the coffee cups are stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black and colored in with Copics. I added some Uni-Ball Gold Gel Pen and Sakura Black Glaze Pen to the black cup and a little Wink of Stella Clear Glitter Brush Pen to the red one. I adhered the greeting to the rest of the layers with Multi-Matte Medium and the cups are adhered with Foam Tape. A sprinkling of some Gold Chunky Glitter before I used more Multi-Matte Medium to adhere the ornament half and it’s finished! Here’s a little peek at what it looks like before it’s all put together!

It’s so much fun to put together all of the things for the ornaments and they really do look so cool hanging on the tree! I hope that you enjoyed my ornament for today! Thank you so very much for your visit today! Have an awesome Tuesday everyone! 🙂
