Fab Friday 31

Hello my blog peeps! How is everything going? Work was beyond irritating today. We had a presentation at one of our other offices. I had asked if there was a projector there and I was told there was, but when I got there, no projector! The day started off badly and just spiraled out of control from there. However, the day ended with some fun news. I became an uncle for the first time!! 😀 Happy birth day to Daniel Steven! Congratulations to my brother Jason and his wife Erika!!

And today, wait… today’s FRIDAY!! Woo hoo! And it’s an extra good Friday because it’s Fab Friday! This week we have a sketch with a big tag on it…

I decided that since I bought the Typeset Alphabet Bigz Dies that I should really be using them more. My card today contains red and green for all of you traditionalists and some sequins for my friend Karen. The base of my card is Gumball Green Card Stock. My background is a piece of Crumb Cake that I embossed with the Pretty Print Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. Before I adhered it to the card I put a piece of Silver 1/8″ Ribbon around the bottom. My tag is cut from a piece of Real Red Card Stock. The JOY part of the greeting is cut out using the Typeset Alphabet Bigz Dies from Silver Glimmer Paper and the “to the world” is heat embossed with Silver Stampin’ Emboss Powder from the Joy to the World Stamp Set. Another piece of Silver Glimmer Paper goes across the bottom of the tag and 5 Silver Sequins help add to the bling! Finally, some more Silver 1/8″ Ribbon is tied through the tag. There is a little something for everyone on this card: traditional Christmas colors, some Glimmer Paper, a few sequins, a touch of heat embossing and some ribbon. Made it through another Monday. Work was a little crazy today because it was my boss’ last day for ten days, she’s off to Israel. The part that made me the most jealous was the flight, she will be first class on the second story of a 747! And I’m sad to say that I will miss her. The weather today is supposed to be rainy and snowy, hopefully less of the latter. How’s everything going in your neck of the woods?

My inspiration for today’s card comes from this week’s Mojo Monday sketch provided by Julee Tilman…

I have been wanting to use the Santa image from the Best of Christmas Stamp Set for a while. If you remember, I had a little bit of an obsession last year with an image from the Jolly Old St. Nick Stamp Set. The base of my card is Crumb Cake Card Stock. For the background I used a piece of paper from the Season of Style Designer Series Paper Stack backed with a piece of Old Olive. In the middle is a piece of Baked Brown Sugar that I embossed with the Perfect Polkadots Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. My large circle is a piece of Old Olive that I cut out with the Circles Collection Framelits Dies and another piece of paper from Season of Style DSP Stack that I cut out with the very “Vintage” Circle Scissor. Next up are two flags, one Baked Brown Sugar and one Whisper White that I stamped the greeting on from the Endless Wishes Photopolymer Stamp Set. Finally, we have the image of St. Nick from the Best of Christmas Stamp Set. I stamped him in Jet Black Staz-On Ink and used my Cherry Cobbler, Old Olive, Blushing Bride and Blush Blossom Stampin’ Write Markers. He is punched out with the 1 3/4″ Circle Punch and backed with another circle cut out from Cherry Cobbler with the Circles Collection Framelits. It really is a great Santa image and I’m still loving the Endless Wishes Photo Polymer Set. As always, I appreciate you stopping by to see my Mojo Monday card for this week’s sketch challenge. Pals Paper Arts 178

Dinner and a movie was a good time last night. Heather and I had some Chinese food and then we watched The Heat with Sandra Bullock and Melissa McCarthy, it was hysterical! I’m off to Manhattan this morning, hopefully it won’t be too cold, I would like to take a little walk along the river. It’s supposed to be sunny so let’s hope the weather holds up!

Today I have my card for this week’s Pals Paper Arts challenge. This time they have given us some neat colors to work with…

All of the colors are in the Soho Subway DSP so I decided to do a Christmas card with a slightly vintage feel. The base of my card is Summer Starfruit Card Stock and I used the Post Card Stamp, stamped in Early Espresso and backed with a piece of the Soho Subway Designer Series Paper for the background. The greeting is heat embossed in Early Espresso on a Crisp Cantaloupe tag and is from the Christmas Messages Stamp Set. A leftover piece of Vanilla Bakers Twine from a kit make the bow and some Stampin’ Dimensionals adhere it to the card. My three ornaments are from the Christmas Collectibles Stamp Set and are stamped in Early Espresso, Crisp Cantaloupe and Summer Starfruit. I used the Christmas Ornament Punch to punch them out and they too are adhered with Stampin’ Dimensionals. You know how I love a non-traditional Holiday card and this one definitely fits the bill. Freshly Made Sketches 111

Guess what… do you know what day it is?! Yes folks, that’s right, it’s Friday!! We all know that I do loves me some Friday! Yesterday as they promised, it was rainy and cold. Today, just cold. Tonight is Chinese food and movie night with Heather and tomorrow, off to Manhattan with Andrew for some more marathon walking! I’ll have to see if I can take some pictures to post. But to hold you over, here’s one of Andrew’s famous sunset pictures…

Now on to today’s post. My inspiration for today’s card is this week’s Freshly Made Sketches…

I looked at the sketch and sat down at my desk and I saw the card before I made it. The whole card! I don’t think that has ever happened before. The base of my card is Whisper White Card Stock. The strip across the bottom is Gold Foil Sheet and I used the Chevron Border Punch to punch out some Real Red, Tempting Turquoise and Old Olive. The main component, the frame, is a piece of Whisper White Card Stock cut out with the Squares Collection Framelits Dies and I used the Christmas Messages Stamp Set to stamp my greeting on Vellum. I heat embossed it with Gold Stampin’ Emboss Powder and adhered it to the back of the frame. The base is a piece of Whisper White backed with a piece of Gold Foil Sheet and some random sequins from a Target find to create the background for the greeting. To finish it off some Real Red, Tempting Turquoise and Old Olive are punched out with the tree from the Merry Mini’s Punch Pack and adhered with Stampin’ Dimensionals. I really like the pop of turquoise with the red and green and the gold foil gives it a little shine. And like I said yesterday, I really like this card! LOL! Hey peeps! How’s it going? Things are good on my end. It’s been a quiet week, which is nice for a change. Work was busy but bearable today and the weather was nice. It’s supposed to rain and then get colder over the weekend. Ahh, I long for spring already! I did get to spend some quality time at the craft desk last night and I made a card that I really love! I’ll post it tomorrow and you’ll have to let me know what you think!

My post for today is for this week’s Mojo Monday sketch challenge. This week’s sketch is from the talented Julee Tilman…

I really do always like the Mojo sketches, lots of layers! My card starts off with a base of Cherry Cobbler Card Stock. The background is a piece of Whisper White that I stamped with the Dictionary Background Stamp in Sahara Sand. A strip of Bermuda Bay is flagged on the bottom and embossed using the Stylish Stripes Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. The Pool Party tag is stamped with the Merry Little Christmas Stamp Set in Bermuda Bay and the “little” in Cherry Cobbler and popped up with a Stampin’ Dimensional. A piece of Cherry Cobbler 1/2″ Seam Binding Ribbon is tied in a bow using the “Fork” method and adhered with a Mini Glue Dot. Across the bottom of the tag is some Cherry Cobbler that I cut out with the Tasteful Trim Bigz XL Die. My snowflakes are from the Festive Flurry Stamp Set and are stamped in Pool Party and cut out with the Festive Flurry Framelits Dies. Three red sequins in the top left finish off the card. SUO Challenges 83

As far as Monday’s go yesterday wasn’t too bad. Work was bearable and it was nice and quiet when I got home. It was really cold here but it’s supposed to warm up later in the week. I spoke to a friend last night on the phone, something that I don’t really do as most people just usually text these days. I also got to sit at the craft desk for a while and just play. We all know there is nothing I like more than that! Tomorrow is gym day and I am looking forward to that too!

Today’s post is for the SUO Challenges Design Team. This time around we ask you to use your favorite greeting. I didn’t even have to think about this one, I knew right away just what I would use. The base of today’s card is Cherry Cobbler Card Stock. I used some Brushed Gold Card Stock and the Stylish Stripes Textured Impressions Embossing Folder for the background. The little snowflakes are from the “Vintage” Northern Frost Sizzlit Decorative Strip Die and are cut out from Whisper White. I stamped my greeting using the “Vintage” Heart of Christmas Stamp, heat embossed it with some Cherry Cobbler Stampin’ Emboss Powder and rounded the corners. Behind it is a piece of Cherry Cobbler that I cut out with the Deco Labels Collection Framelits Dies and used the Essential Paper-Piercing Pack and Paper-Piercing Tool to pierce just the top and bottom. A piece of Champagne Glimmer Paper punched out with the 2 1/2″ Circle Punch goes in the middle and Stampin’ Dimensionals hold the pieces to the card. I really do love the Heart of Christmas stamp and was sad to see it go with last year’s Holiday Catalog. I was also happy when I found my Norther Frost Strip Die, I had forgotten that I had it! Freshly Made Sketches 110

Hello there peeps! How is it going? Me, well… like I said yesterday work is insanely busy. We have a conference tomorrow and all of the last minute stuff needs to be done today. What that really means is that everything needs to be done today! I did have another nice quiet evening at home last night. I sat at my craft desk and puttered around. It was very productive too, I got three cards made. Love it when that happens!

I really like the fact that it has symmetry but is off just a little. The base of my card is So Saffron Card Stock and the background is a piece of Very Vanilla that I embossed with the Honeycomb Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. The three bees are from the Backyard Basics Stamp Set ~~Secret Garden Stamp Set~~ and are stamped in Jet Black Staz-On and cut out with the coordinating Backyard Basics Framelits Dies ~~Secret Garden Framelits Dies~~. I punched a piece of So Saffron out with the Hexagon Punch and the bees and hexagon are adhered to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. The greeting is from one of the Paper Pumpkin Kits and is cut out with the Itty Bitty Banners Framelits Dies. I threaded some Linen Thread through one of the Subtles Designer Buttons and adhered it with a Mini Glue Dot to complete the card. I love the softness of the So Saffron with the Very Vanilla and the bees are just neat! I appreciate you stopping by to see my card for this week’s Freshly Made Sketches challenge from Rita. Paper Craft Crew 65

And here we are at Wednesday again… work, not a lot of fun lately, but I did have a nice evening after I left work. I went over to see my friend Sandy, we had a nice dinner and got to catch up. I don’t see Sandy nearly as much as I’d like to, but we’ll have to remedy that in the future. I came home, met my friend Andrew and went to the gym. All in all, it was a nice way to spend my after work time.

It’s Wednesday, as I have mentioned, and that means it’s time for this week’s Paper Craft Crew challenge. This week we have a simple sketch for you…

The layout of the sketch gives you quite a few possibilities. I decided I needed to use one of my new stamp sets that I got during the 25% off promotion. The base of my card is Whisper White Card Stock. On the bottom half, there is a piece of paper from the Sweater Weather Designer Series Paper Pack. Above that is a piece of paper from the Polka Dot Parade Designer Series Paper Pack and along the bottom is a piece of Real Red that I punched with the Scallop Edge Border Punch. Across the middle is a piece of Very Vanilla 1/4″ Stitched Grosgrain Ribbon. My stamped image/greeting is from the Crazy, Mixed-Up Love Stamp Set and is stamped in Real Red. I used the Circles Collection Framelits to cut it out and backed it with a piece of Chocolate Chip. The hearts are cut out with the Fashionable Hearts Embosslit and adhered to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. I decided the card needed a little something more along the bottom, so I cut out a piece of Real Red with the Expressions Thinlits Dies and adhered it with 2-Way Glue. Today was a busy day at work and a quiet evening at home. I do like it when not too much is going on when I get home, it’s definitely a rarity. I got to sit down and make my card and play around with some other ideas that were floating around in my head. Did some more blog research and started planning what I am going to do for my video. I had a some people ask about the mask that I used for yesterday’s card so here is a picture of it…

I used a ruler to draw lines and then my Paper Snips to cut out the sections. It is 5 1/2″ x 4 1/4″, just right for a card front. I like it made out of the Window Sheet, I can keep reusing it!

Now on to my card. My inspiration for today’s post is this week’s Mojo Monday Sketch challenge. This week’s sketch is provided by none other than Julee Tilman…

Round or Square… there seems to be a lot of round on the card itself! I pondered my card for a while and as soon as I saw past the circles it all came together. The base of my card is Whisper White Card Stock. The background is two pieces of paper from the Winter Frost Designer Series Paper Stack mounted to a piece of Bermuda Bay with a strip of Bermuda Bay across the middle. I embossed a piece of Smoky Slate with the Delicate Designs Textured Impressions Folder and adhered it slightly off center. My snowflakes are from the Festive Flurry Stamp Set, inked with Versa-Mark and heat embossed with Pool Party and Whisper White Stampin’ Emboss Powder onto Vellum Card Stock. The Festive Flurry Framelits Dies cut them out perfectly and some carefully placed SNAIL holds them to the card. I choose the greeting from the Tags 4 You Stamp Set. I stamped it in Bermuda Bay and punched it out with the Label Bracket Punch, a Stampin’ Dimensional holds it in place. I love the way heat embossing looks on Vellum and the colors are some of my favorites! Thanks very much for paying me a visit today to see my Mojo Monday card for this week’s sketch challenge. Paper Players 169

Greetings peeps! How was the rest of your weekend? My Sunday was nice and quiet. I ran to Target in the morning with my friend Heather and then I spent the rest of the day crafting and running errands. I do love Sundays when they are like that. I didn’t have time to put together a video this weekend but I will eventually get to it! I did take another step towards moving my blog to the hosted account. Sometime in the next few weeks, when I have a minute or two, I will complete the transition. LOL! Probably later rather than sooner. I will keep you posted.

It’s Monday so that means it’s Paper Players time! This week we have a fun sketch from the lovely Anne Marie…

I was playing around with the “shimmer spritz” that I made the other day again. I also made a sunburst mask out of a Window Sheet. I thought that would be better because then I can reuse it. The base of my card is Whisper White Card Stock. My main panel is a piece of Whisper White that I spritzed my sunburst on using the mask and I backed it with a piece of Brushed Gold and Bermuda Bay. Next up is my strip of Bermuda Bay that I heat embossed in Gold Stampin’ Emboss Powder using a stamp from the Background Builders Stamp Set. I tucked three Brushed Gold flags that I cut out with the Bitty Banners Framelits under the left side. My ornament is from the Ornament Keepsakes Stamp Set, I heat embossed it with Gold and cut it out with the Holiday Ornaments Framelits. Three “Vintage” Metallic 3/16″ Brads backed with Bermuda Bay are up in the left corner. My greeting is stamped in Bermuda Bay and is from the Endless Wishes Photopolymer Stamp Set. The pictures don’t really show you how nice and shimmery the sunburst is and I really like the gold and Bermuda Bay together. I know, I have been using a lot of gold lately, we all have phases right?!?! Thanks for stopping by to see my card for this week’s Paper Players challenge.
