Occasions Catalog Sneak Peek

Happy Sunday! My work Holiday party was a lot of fun last night! There were a ton of people there and some delicious food. They play a “Bad Santa” game where you bring a wrapped gift and then you pick a number to decided your turn to choose. You can pick a new gift or steal one from someone else. The person that picks number one gets to go at the end and take whatever they want! I ended up with a Google Chromcast with a little help from some friends! Like I said lots of fun! Here are a few pictures from last night. I’m also sporting my new haircut! LOL!

For today’s post I have a card that I made for Danielle’s mom’s birthday. I CASE’d the tag from the 2014 Occasions Catalog. I thought it would make a nice focal point for a card. The base of the card is Whisper White Card Stock. I used the Perfect Polkadots Textured Impressions Embossing Folder and some Strawberry Slush backed with a piece of Brushed Gold for my background. The tag is created with a piece of the Gold Fancy Foil Designer Vellum* backed with a piece of Whisper White. I punched two holes in the top and threaded some Whisper White Bakers Twine through and tied it in a bow. The greeting is from the Starburst Sayings Stamp Set* and is stamped in Strawberry Slush and cut out with the Starburst Framelits Dies*. Some Stampin’ Dimensionals hold all of the pieces to the card. I really like that even though it’s a simple card the greeting and the Designer Vellum give it a little wow! Pals Paper Arts 83 & Sneak Peek

It’s the weekend peeps! Woo hoo! I had a pretty good day at work yesterday. I got to have a staged fight with a trainer that was teaching an investigation class. All of the people in the class thought the fight was real, it was great! LOL! I went to a Stamp-A-Tag at Sandy’s last night, that’s always fun! Today… lots to do and I have my “work” holiday party tonight. Oh, and it’s sneaker Saturday too! Let’s see what I can get done!

Before I get to today’s post I wanted to thank the amazing Mary Fish for selecting my card as her pick for last week’s Pals Paper Arts challenge. You can see my original post here and the Pals Paper Arts winners post here. Now this week from Pals we have a color challenge…

I was going to do a Christmas card but I really want to keep those sneak peeks coming so I went with a birthday card instead! The base of my card is Whisper White Card Stock. I used the Decorative Dots Textured Impressions Embossing Folder** to emboss a piece of Wild Wasabi and backed it with a piece of Rose Red for my background. The greeting is from the Perfect Pennants Stamp Set* and is stamped once in Rose Red and the again in Wild Wasabi so I could punch out the “a” with the 1/2″ Circle Punch and pop it up on a Stampin’ Dimensional. I stamped it on one of the tags from the Stamp a Tag kit and tied a piece of Whisper White Bakers Twine in a bow on top. The pinwheels are from the Starburst Sayings Stamp Set* and are stamped in Rose Red and cut out with the Starburst Framelits Dies*. Some Stampin’ Dimensionals adhere them to the card in a cog like pattern. I love the Decorative Dots Folder, it looks a little like confetti and makes a great background for a birthday card! Freshly Made Sketches 116 & Sneak Peeks

Today was the start of the deep freeze that we are headed into, yeah! NOT! It was very cold here today and it was a balmy 36 degrees. I say balmy because tomorrow night it’s supposed to 18! Brrr!! I had a busy but good day at work, there always is a lot to get done but I have a good bunch of people in my department so it’s all good. I got to test drive my presentation for Leadership last night and now will polish it and get it finished, less than a month to go! Time really does fly!

My inspiration for today’s post comes from this week’s Freshly Made Sketches challenge…

I do love some banners and I got a new goodie from the man in brown yesterday too so I had to use it! The base of today’s card is Coastal Cabana Card Stock. My background is a piece of Very Vanilla that I embossed with the Arrows Textured Impressions Embossing Folder*. The flags and hearts are from the Language of Love Stamp Set* and are stamped in Coastal Cabana and Blushing Bride. I used the Banners Framelits Dies* to cut out the banners and the hearts are punched out with the Small Heart Punch. My greeting is from the Love You to the Moon Stamp Set* and is stamped in Coastal Cabana and backed with some Blushing Bride. The Blushing Bride hearts are adhered to the panel with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the panel to the card with some more. I love the Arrows Textured Impressions Embossing Folder, it looks cool either side that you use and the colors are nice and soft but fun. Are you enjoying your sneak peeks?! Freshly Made Sketches 115

T G I F!! This week could not have come to an end quickly enough. To give you an idea of what my day was like yesterday, by the time 1:00 rolled around, I had walked 6 miles… in the office. Who needs the gym?! My post is very early today because as I have already complained about (LOL), I have to be at work at 6:15 this morning. But soon, it will all be done and I will come home for a nap. Yay! Tomorrow I’m off to Connecticut with my friend Kim to see my friend Andrew sing. What are you up to this weekend?

My inspiration for today’s card comes from this week’s Freshly Made Sketches…

The card today uses all pre-order stuff from the new Occasions Catalog. The base of my card is So Saffron Card Stock. The strip starts off with a piece of Tangerine Tango and I cut both sides using the Small Scallop Stampin’ Trimmer Rotary Blade, the piece of paper is from the Retro Fresh Designer Series Paper Pack*. My frames, cameras and arrow are cut out using the On Film Framelits Dies*, the frames from Baked Brown Sugar and the arrow and cameras from Coastal Cabana. I used a hole punch to punch out some Gold Foil Sheet for the lenses on the cameras. The greeting comes from the Hip Notes Stamp Set* and is stamped in Coastal Cabana on the arrow. Like I said yesterday, I’m really loving the new stuff and I think it’s neat that the framelits actually emboss the camera and cut it out at the same time. Thankfully, only one more day left until my Friday! Yes, it will be an early one but it will still be Friday! I got my box of pre-order goodies yesterday and I spent some quality time in the craft area last night. So much fun new stuff! I made a card which I will post tomorrow from one of my favorite new stamp sets and coordinating framelits. I still have some stamp sets to mount and a lot of organizing to do but it’s all good! Have you seen the new catalog? What are you most excited about?!

Today’s card is for this week’s Mojo Monday sketch challenge which is provided by Julee Tilman…

I decided to make a traditional card today. The base of my card is Cherry Cobbler Card Stock and the background is a piece of Old Olive which is embossed with the Alphabet Press Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. Layered on top of that is a piece of Season of Style Designer Series Paper which is backed with another piece of Cherry Cobbler. Across the middle is a piece of Baked Brown Sugar and adhered around the back is some Cherry Cobbler 3/4″ Chevron Ribbon. Next up is the greeting which is from the Christmas Messages Stamp Set and is stamped in Old Olive, cut out with the Deco Label Collection Framelits and backed with a piece of Cherry Cobbler cut out with the same Framelits. A traditional Christmas card is not an every day occurrence on my blog and I hope you enjoyed it. I really like the way the Alphabet Press Embossing Folder strangely compliments the DSP. As you know, I’m always happy to have a visit from you! Here’s to a wonderful Thursday (and a quick one so we can get to Friday)!! 🙂

Paper Craft Crew 70

Last year at work it was kind of quiet around this time, this year, not so much. I had another field trip this morning and a second one in the afternoon! Not that I’m complaining, because I do like to get out of the office. Who knows what today will bring? Stay tuned tomorrow to find out! LOL! And Friday I get to go to work at 6:15 in the morning. YAY! Can you feel the excitement? I hope your week is going better than mine is. Well, I do get my new goodies today from my pre-order, that will make everything better!!

On a happier note, today I have my Design Team post for this week’s Paper Craft Crew sketch challenge. We have a fun one this week that you can layer up…

For the base of my card I used a piece of Chocolate Chip Card Stock. The background is a piece of Sweater Weather Designer Series Paper and the Soft Sky edge on the right side is created with the Small Scallop Stampin’ Trimmer Rotary Cutting Blade. The next layer is a piece Crushed Curry that I embossed with the Honeycomb Textured Impressions Embossing Folder and backed with another piece of Chocolate Chip. My greeting is from the Six Sided Sampler Stamp Set and is stamped in Tangerine Tango and Chocolate Chip, I backed it with a piece of Soft Sky that is punched out with the 1 3/4″ Scallop Circle Punch and two Tangerine Tango flags stem from the bottom. To complete the card, I stamped the bee from the Backyard Basics Stamp Set in Basic Black and cut him out with the Backyard Basics Framelits, a Stampin’ Dimensional holds him in place. Funnily enough, I realized after I finished the card that the greeting pairs quite nicely with the bee and the honeycomb! Catherine & Cathy Create 16

I had a very quiet uneventful day yesterday, which is nice for a change. I went and let the dogs out in the morning, got my haircut and then crafted for a good part of the day. I went back last night and let dogs out again, came home and just relaxed. It’s nice to have a quiet day but today needs to make up for it! LOL!

Today’s post is for this month’s Catherine & Cathy Create Monthly Challenge. This month we ask you to make a “‘Tis the Season” Christmas themed project. My card starts off with a base of Whisper White Card Stock. I embossed a piece of Crisp Cantaloupe with the Perfect Polkadots Textured Impressions Embossing Folder for my background. A piece of Silver Glimmer paper is cut out with the Festive Flurry Framelits Dies and adhered to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. The image is from the Warmth and Wonder Host(ess) Stamp Set and is stamped in Pistachio Pudding and Crisp Cantaloupe, lined up perfectly with my Stamp-a-ma-jig. I cut it out with the Circles Collection Framelits Dies and also a piece of Pistachio Pudding to back it. The greeting is from last month’s Paper Pumpkin and is stamped in Crisp Cantaloupe and backed with Pistachio Pudding. Both the image and greeting are also adhered with Stampin’ Dimensionals. I really like the glimmer snowflake as a backdrop for the image and the color combo is definitely a non-traditional one which I love! Fab Friday 32

Happy Black Friday! Did you do any midnight shopping? I was good and stayed home, I had too much other stuff going on yesterday! I finished cutting out the pieces for the additional bookmarks for work, I just have to assemble them this morning. I also didn’t end up staying home for Thanksgiving. My good friend Sandy invited me to her house for dinner with her family. I had a wonderful time and she is an amazing cook. I don’t think I will have to eat at all today! LOL! I hope that all of you had a very nice Thanksgiving too!

Not only is today Black Friday but it’s also time for Fab Friday! This time around we have a color combo for you…

I had a vision of what I wanted my card to look like, I just had no idea how much I would end up pulling out to get it that way! My card base is Coastal Cabana Card Stock and the background is a piece of Real Red that I embossed with the Stylish Stripes Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. Next up I flagged a piece of Gumball Green and adhered it to the base with Stampin’ Dimensionals. Now for the collage which starts off with a Tea Lace Paper Doily. I used some old and some new stamps to create the collage and whole bunch of punches! In there are stamps from the “Vintage” Tags ‘Til Christmas, Best of Christmas, Very Merry Tags, “Vintage” Stitched Stockings and Festive Flurry Stamp Sets and the Christmas Tagables Photopolymer Stamp Set. To punch them out I used the “Vintage” Large Tag, Ornament and Stocking Builder, Decorative Label, Petite Curly Label, Mosaic, Christmas Ornament, 7/8″ Scallop Circle and 1″ Circle Punches. Now that’s a lot of punches and stamps! LOL! They are all stamped in Coastal Cabana, Real Red and Gumball Green. Oh, and there is a snowflake from the Festive Flurry Stamp Set cut out with the Festive Flurry Framelits peeking out too! I really do love the randomness of the collage look and yes, it’s a lot of product but it’s also a lot of fun! Freshly Made Sketches 114

So you know how I was all excited about having off on Friday? Well let me tell you, they made up for that yesterday. I did about three days worth of work today, so much for getting out early! It was rainy and nasty all day here today, they promise it will be sunny tomorrow though. We shall see! I have lots to do today. I’m dog sitting, I have some more bookmarks to make (work had asked for 40 bookmarks, they’ve now asked me to make 20 more and have them ready by Friday) and various other projects to get through. I hope all of your Thanksgiving plans go well and that you are ready to fill yourselves up and have a great evening with family.

I used Bermuda Bay Card Stock for the base of my card today. Then I used some Silver Stampin’ Emboss Powder to heat emboss my greeting which is the Be Very Merry Stamp. Next up is two strips of Silver Glimmer Paper across the lower half of the card. The Stylish Stripes Textured Impressions Embossing Folder is used to emboss a piece of Silver Foil Sheet for my panel. The snowflake is stamped in Bermuda Bay and then using a Stamp-a-ma-jig I stamped in Versa-Mark and heat embossed with Iridescent Ice Stampin’ Emboss Powder. I then used the Festive Flurry Framelits Dies to cut out the snowflake. To complete the card, I put a Frosted Finishes Embellishment in the middle of the snowflake. Lots of shine and glitter, but I really like the way the stamped and heat embossed snowflake came out, and who doesn’t like a little bling?! Paper Craft Crew 69

I got some very exciting news this morning, it turns out I don’t have to go to work on Friday. Woo hoo!! 🙂 And if all goes well, we’ll get out a little early today! It was not an overly nice day here yesterday, it rained most of the day and it’s supposed to rain again all day today. I’m actually kind of glad that I don’t have to travel anywhere for the holiday seeing as the weather is clearly not going to be great for traveling. If any of you have to go anywhere this week, I hope you have a safe trip!

Today I have my Design Team card for this week’s Paper Craft Crew sketch challenge…

For the base of my card I used a piece of Very Vanilla Card Stock. The background is a piece of Cherry Cobbler that is embossed with the Pretty Print Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. My main image and greeting come from the Santa’s List Stamp Set. The image is stamped in Jet Black Staz-On and the greeting in Cherry Cobbler. A piece of Basic Black is also embossed with the Pretty Print Textured Impressions Embossing Folder and both that and the main image are backed with a piece of Gold Foil Sheet. The three I <3 Santa stamps are from the Very Merry Tags Stamp Set. They are stamped in Cherry Cobbler and punched out with the Petite Curly Label Punch. I really like the image from the stamp set, it has that old news print feel to it and the Gold Foil Sheet just gives the card that extra pop!
