Freshly Made Sketches 150

Ahh yes my faithful friends… it’s that magical day of the week, the one that I love the most! It’s FRIDAY!! Ok, got that out of the way! LOL! I had very nice day yesterday, work was good, I snuck out a little early which of course makes it better! I played in the Stampin’ Galley for a bit but the highlight of my evening was being a guest speaker on the Pals Webinar! What an honor to get to speak to such an amazing group of talented peeps! It was everything I thought it would be and more! Mary Fish’s blog was the first blog that I followed. Just a little star struck! LOL! I’ll stop now! How are things by you? Any big plans for the weekend? I’m going to escape to Manhattan tomorrow morning to spend some quality time with my friend Kim. The weather isn’t supposed to be the best but it’s the city so what does that matter?!

Today I have a very simple card for this week’s Freshly Made Sketches challenge, here is the sketch…

Freshly Made Sketches #150

I have been really having fun with using sponge daubers to apply ink to projects. I really love the blending and the look that it gives. My card begins with a base of Tangelo Twist Card Stock. Across the bottom is a piece of Champagne Glimmer Paper that I adhered with Multi-Purpose Glue. I stamped the greeting from the For All Things Stamp Set* in Chocolate Chip, using my Stamp-a-ma-jig for perfect placement! My leaf and acorn are cut from Coaster Board using the Autumn Accents Bigz L Die. I used my Sponge Daubers to apply some Chocolate Chip, Garden Green, Daffodil Delight and Tangelo Twist Ink. The leaf is adhered to the card with Fast Fuse Adhesive and the acorn with a Stampin’ Dimensional. I love the texture that you get from the ink on the Coaster Board and the sparkle along the bottom is just fun! There is my simple card for this week’s Freshly Made Sketches challenge, I hope that you enjoyed it and are inspired to try a little sponging! Thanks for stopping by and have the best Friday ever! 🙂

Freshly Made Sketches 149

How was your Friday? Mine was pretty good, I was out of the office running errands for about three hours yesterday! I also got a lot accomplished when I was there before and after so all in all a pretty good day. I got a new light for the Stampin’ Galley, just a simple fluorescent stick but it gives me enough light and doesn’t get in the way. I’m plotting my organization for this weekend too. I need to get all of the current goodies in the place where all of the Vintage goodies are now. I would also like to unpack the last few boxes that I have. There are a good amount of cards that I need to make and actually send out this weekend! The sending part is key right?! I think I need one of those fancy label printers, technology always makes me more productive, especially when it’s a new toy! LOL!

Freshly Made Sketches #149

A super simple sketch! And apparently I have lost my mind because I saw a shaker card again! No, I didn’t make one! LOL! My card base for today is Daffodil Delight Card Stock. The fun background is a piece of Basic Black that I embossed with the Lucky Stars Textured Impressions Embossing Folder*. I used one of the eyeshadow applicators to “brush” some White Craft Ink on the embossed stars and pulled some next to them to give them a little movement. The center panel is a piece of Smoky Slate that is backed with Daffodil Delight. All of the images and greeting are from the Holiday Home Stamp Set*. The greeting is stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black along with the house and ghosts. The house is stamped on Sahara Sand and is colored in with Cherry Cobbler, Daffodil Delight and Smoky Slate Stampin’ Blendabilities Markers then cut out with the Homemade Holiday Framelits*.. The ghosts are stamped on Whisper White and cut out with my Paper Snips. I used Soft Suede, Pumpkin Pie and Daffodil Delight to stamp the rest of the images. My house and Ghosts are popped up on Stampin’ Dimensionals. I placed two strips of Pumpkin Pie on the background before adhering the panel to the card with more Stampin’ Dimensionals. I’m really loving the little houses and “scenes” that you can create with the rest of the stamps in the set! Freshly Made Sketches 148

Yesterday was a sad day for me. My grandmother passed away. She was an amazing person and lived good long life. She was 96 years old. I remember all of the good times that I had with her. I remember going there every summer for two weeks with my brother. Getting up at 6:00am to take my grandfather to work and watching the sunrise over the mountain. She made the most amazing pies and cakes, was an excellent cook too. Her specialty was shoo-fly pie and no one has been able to duplicate her recipe even though many of us have tried. We would go to Knoebels Grove, an amusement park in Elysburg, PA all the time. It’s an old fashioned park with rides and all of the sounds and smells that should be at an amusement park. She would go on all of the rides with us and split a funnel cake, her favorite. I remember Teaberry ice cream, still one of my favorites. She loved flowers and always had hundreds of them planted in the summer. I remember the smell of the lilac trees at the end of the driveway and her Rose Milk lotion. I’m glad that I got to spend the time with her that I did, she helped me become the person that I am today and for that I am grateful. She will be missed but remembered fondly.

When I sat down to make my card for this week’s Freshly Made Sketches challenge I could only think of stars and happiness because that’s what I felt when I thought of her. Here is this week’s sketch…

Freshly Made Sketches #148

The base of my card is Lost Lagoon Card Stock. I used a piece of Silver Foil Sheet that I embossed with the Lucky Stars Textured Impressions Embossing Folder*. It is adhered to the card base off to the left. My center panel is a shaker frame and is made from Basic Black. I used my Stampin’ Trimmer to cut out the middle of the front panel and adhered a piece of Window Sheet with Multi-Purpose Glue to the back. Some foam tape makes up the sides and I filled it with stars that I punched out from a piece of Brushed Silver Card Stock with the Confetti Stars Border Punch*. My greeting is from the Holiday Invitation Photopolymer Stamp Set* and is heat embossed in Black Stampin’ Emboss Powder on a piece of Lost Lagoon. Up in the right corner is another piece of Silver Foil Sheet that I cut out with the Stars Framelits and adhered to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. Finally some Frosted Sequins* are randomly adhered with Multi-Purpose Glue down the right side. A fun card that celebrates the life of a wonderful grandmother. Freshly Made Sketches 147

Yup, it’s Saturday and I’m headed into Manhattan to spend some quality time with Kim and her brother and sister! We are going to get some Diner breakfast and wait for them to arrive. They should be in around 12:00PM. I thinking that we will wander around for a bit, something that I love to do as you know! Yesterday was my boss’ birthday so we had lunch together which is always nice. The day was busy but I got a lot done. Next week promises to be busy too but busy makes the day go by. Last night I relaxed for a bit, crafted for a bit and even got in a little TV time. A nice quiet evening is just what you need sometimes!

Freshly Made Sketches #147

Love it! As soon as I saw the stripes I knew exactly what I wanted to do. My card base is a piece of Very Vanilla Card Stock. I covered the entire front with a piece of Brushed Gold Metallic Card Stock. For the background I used a piece of Basic Black and some Watercolor Wonder Designer Washi Tape strips go down the right side. Around the lower part I wrapped some Linen Thread and tied one of the new Gold Basic Metal Buttons* to the card. Quite a few Stampin’ Dimensionals adhere the background to the base. My fun mustache is form the Well Worded Stamp Set and is heat embossed in Basic Black Stampin’ Emboss Powder on another piece of Brushed Gold. I used the Mustache Framelit to cut it out and Stampin’ Dimensionals hold it in place. I love the simplicity of the Black and Gold together and the Linen Thread gives it a little bit of a rustic feel. I hope that you like my card for this week’s Freshly Made Sketches challenge. Freshly Made Sketches 146 & Danny

It’s Thursday already! That is definitely a good thing! I had a fun day at work yesterday dealing with our Lobby TV set up. We show a loop on the TV and the things that we use now don’t work so I’m testing out new solutions and think I may have found one that uses Mac minis. Hopefully it will work! I was going to post more Convention pictures today but something a little more important was brought to my attention. Yesterday morning my friend Danielle text me this news story about a 5 year old boy that lives in Foxboro, MA. He is different than many other little boys, he has an inoperable brain tumor that is also chemo therapy resistant. It’s his birthday tomorrow and all he wants for it is lots of cards. So I thought well I make cards and I’m going to send him one. He likes cards with his name on them so that just what he will get. Here is the card that I made for him…

I know that you are all not feeling the Christmas cards but I have new goodies that need some love so I did another one today! The card starts off with a base of Whisper White Card Stock. The background is a simple piece of Soft Sky and I stamped my greeting from the Christmas Bliss Photopolymer Stamp Set in Garden Green right on the background. A strip of Nordic Noel Designer Series Paper* and a piece of adhesive cork sheet come across from the right. The image is from the Cheerful Christmas Stamp Set* and is heat embossed with White Stampin’ Emboss Powder. I used the Window Frames Collection Framelits to cut it out and pierced around the edge with the Festive Paper-Piercing Pack. Some Stampin’ Dimensionals hold it to the card and a few Basic Jewels Rhinestones in the lower left complete the card. I really do love blues for Christmas and Soft Sky is becoming a favorite! I also think it’s neat the way the image from the Cheerful Christmas Set fits inside the Window Frame. I hope that you enjoyed my card for this week’s Freshly Made Sketches challenge. Paper Players 205 & Freshly Made Sketches 145, Oh and more Pics!

Hello my friends! I am back home! My flight from Salt Lake City was uneventful, a welcome change from going out there! LOL! First, I apologize for not getting back to your comments in a timely manner, I did finish replying last night! Today is going to be a long one, we have our golf event at work and I’ll be there from 8:00am until 11:00pm. Kind of kills the week off! So, the last day of Convention was definitely the best day! I was randomly selected for a VIP Backstage Tour for me and three friends!! It was at 11:00am on Saturday and much to my delight Donna Griffith was our lovely tour guide! I took Wendy, Maggie and Brian with me. We got to see all of the goings on behind the scenes. Sterling and Sarah were in the green room so we got to say a quick hello to them. We also got to see Shelli who I have to say is one of the most genuine and sweetest people I have ever met. She chatted with us for a bit and then patiently posed with us through four mobile phones for pictures! We also had the pleasure of meeting the make-up artist, who’s name escapes me at the moment. She was great, very funny and beautiful! Here are a few pictures from out little adventure…

I really did have the best time at Convention. I will miss everyone but we’ll keep in touch and I can’t wait to see them all again!

Today I also have a double post! I needed to get my Freshly Made Sketches card in before the deadline and I also have my Monday mainstay, the Paper Players! First up is the Paper Players, they have a CAS Monochromatic challenge this week…

Paper Players #205

Did I need to see the feathers or the blues, nope! LOL! I started my card off with a base of Soft Sky Card Stock. The background is a piece of Whisper White and I stamped the leaves from the Kinda Eclectic Stamp Set in Soft Sky, Pool Party and Lost Lagoon. I spritzed it with some Lost Lagoon and Soft Sky before adhering it to the base. The tag is a piece of Coastal Cabana that I punched with the Scalloped Tag Topper Punch and stamped the burst, also from the Kinda Eclectic Set, in Coastal Cabana. To create the feathers I stamped the Love Who You Are Stamp in Soft Sky, Pool Party and Lost Lagoon on the same color card stock and cut them out with the leaf from the Flower Fair Framelits. A quick score down the middle and some notches created with the star punch from the Itty Bitty Accents Punch Pack and they are done. The feathers were on one of Shelli’s cards during her presentation. They will have to do until I can get the new set from the Holiday Catalog! A pice of 1 1/4″ Burlap Ribbon that I dyed with Bermuda Bay Ink is adhered across the bottom of the tag. A few scattered 2013-2015 In-Color Designer Sequins complete my card. I love the Kind of Eclectic Set and am so happy to have it now and the feathers are fun and simple to make!

As soon as I saw the sketch I thought it would be a perfect opportunity to show you some goodies from the new Holiday Catalog! The base of this card is also Soft Sky and I used the Dotty Angles Photopolymer Stamp Set to stamp the dots in Soft Sky right on the base. The middle Panel is a piece of paper from the All is Calm Specialty Designer Series Paper* Pack backed with a piece of Cherry Cobbler. The wreath is from the Wondrous Wreath Photopolymer Stamp Set* and is stamped in Pear Pizzaz, Garden Green and Cherry Cobbler. I cut out the wreath, bow (a piece of Red Glimmer Paper) and greeting (a piece of Gold Foil Sheet) using the Wonderful Wreath Framelits*. I assembled the wreath and then adhered it to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. Two more pieces of Red Glimmer Paper are flagged and adhered under the right side of the wreath. I LOVE the new wreath and Framelits, so cool! The photopolymer makes it so easy to line up the elements and blues are my favorite colors for Christmas! I really hope that you enjoyed the pictures and double dose of cards today for the Paper Players and Freshly Made Sketches! Freshly Made Sketches 144

An extremely happy Friday to you my friends! It is my last day of work for a whole week! The best part, next week I will be in Salt Lake City for Convention! I’m going to try and sneak out a little early today too, gots to get my stuff done! I had a nice evening last night. I ran to DSW with Heather and then went back to her house so she could pack. She is going to Boston for the weekend with her boyfriend. After that we came back to my house and she helped me organize the apartment a bit more. Little by little it’s getting done and is almost finished! Yeah! There are some things that I would like change and will in time. Our project for this evening was my glass cabinet that houses all of my Hard Rock Cafe glasses that either I have bought or someone else has brought back for me. I have quite a few! Productivity feel so good!

Freshly Made Sketches #144

I don’t usually like to use a “busy” Designer Series Paper for the background but I actually really like this one! My card begins with a base of Whisper white Card Stock and I used a piece of paper from the Gold Soiree Designer Series Paper Pack to cover the entire card front. A piece of Garden Green is embossed with the Lovely Lace Textured Impressions Embossing Folder and adhered to the base. The stamped images are from the Hello Darling Stamp Set. My doilies are stamped in Crisp Cantaloupe, Pistachio Pudding and Calypso Coral, then punched out with the 1 3/4″ Circle Punch and adhered to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. The sequins are heat embossed with Gold Stampin’ Emboss Powder on Whisper White. My greeting is from the Good Greetings Stamp Set (from the upcoming Holiday Catalog) and is stamped in Calypso Coral. I used my Calypso Coral Stampin’ Blendabilities Marker to color one of the Vintage Faceted Designer Buttons and tied a piece of White Baker’s Twine in a bow before adhering it to the card with a Mini Glue Dot. Freshly Made Sketches 143 and a Quilt!

I had a very busy day yesterday! Busy but in a good way! I was up quite late on Thursday night, my friend Heather stopped by at 12:30AM with a large bottle of wine that needed finishing, I had to help her! I got up yesterday morning a lot later than I usually do and got right to organizing and putting stuff away. Andrew came by around 1:00PM with pizza for lunch, just when you think he can’t get any better! He helped me put up shelves and pictures, organize and put away more stuff. I feel very accomplished and that makes me very happy! I watched a movie last night, Non-Stop with Liam Neeson, a very good but tense movie. Those are fun sometimes aren’t they?! This morning I have a lot on my list too. I need to see if I can get the rest of my stuff out of the old apartment and work on some projects for tomorrow’s Creation Station Blog Tour. I’m also going to head into Manhattan around 2:00Pm to meet up with my friend Kim. Satellite Lane has a proposal to do in Central Park and we are going to go and see that. After Andrew, Kim and I are going to go and have some dinner and drinks! A busy day, I hope I can get it all done!

One of the best parts of my blog is getting to know some of you through comments and emails. A very sweet friend of mine, Grace, shares some pictures with me from time to time. The other day she sent me a picture of a quilt that she had made. I was amazed at how beautiful it is! I know some people that quilt and it’s not easy work. I asked her if I could share the picture with you and she graciously said yes! Here it is in all it’s glory…

One more thing before I get to today’s card. Someone had asked me the other day what I call my craft space. I don’t have a name for it. I thought it would be fun to get suggestions from you! You guys always have such inventive ways to describe things. I posted a picture of it the other day and you can see it HERE. Leave me a comment and let me know what you think it should be called!

Freshly Made Sketches #143

I love the layout! So many possibilities! I used some Crumb Cake Card Stock for the base of the card. The stars are created with the Hearts & Stars Mask, a Sponge Dauber and Crumb Cake Ink. A strip of paper from the Confetti Celebration Designer Series Paper Pack goes across the bottom. Next up I cutout a piece of Bermuda Bay with two of the Circles Collection Framelits. A piece of Vellum Card Stock is also cut out and adhered behind the circle with Multi-Purpose Glue and a little more glue adheres it to the card. A strip of Pistachio Pudding and a one of Basic Gray, with the right side flagged, are mounted to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals on top of the Designer Series Paper. My greeting is from the Hi There Stamp Set and is stamped in Tangelo Twist and punched out with the 3/4″ Circle Punch. To add a little sparkle I adhered three Pistachio Pudding 2013-2015 In-Color Sequins to the vellum circle. The masked stars are a fun addition to the background and I love those sequins! Freshly Made Sketches 142

Morning already! I feel like I just went to bed! I had to run into Manhattan last night to help a friend with some computer issues and by the time I got home it was 11:20. I still had to make a card and type my post so I sat down at the craft desk, or what’s left of it, and got to work. It’s funny how I can get home that late and still look forward to making something. There was no packing last night however, pending the weather my friend Fred from work is going to come over and we are going to start moving the furniture later on today. Andrew is supposed to help too. Fingers crossed people that it doesn’t rain until the earliest Monday!

The card that I made when I got home last night is for this week’s Freshly Made Sketches challenge from Jennifer B….

Freshly Made Sketches #142

Thankfully it is a nice simple sketch! I started my card with some Very Vanilla Card Stock. The panel is one of the Project Life Everyday Adventure Journaling Cards that I trimmed and rounded the corner with the Project Life Corner Rounder. A strip of Bermuda Bay is embossed with the Arrows Textured Impressions Embossing Folder and adhered across the lower half of the card. I received my new plates for the Texture Boutique yesterday and I’m happy to report that they work great! I used the Circle Card Thinlits Dies to cut out some Crushed Curry for the chevrons and Bermuda Bay for the greeting. Some slivers of Stampin’ Dimensionals adhere them to the card. It needed a little something so I sprinkled some sequins around to finish off the card. I actually like the mix of different arrows/chevrons and love the colors together! Freshly Made Sketches 141

It was a hot one here yesterday. We got up into the 90’s and it was a little on the humid side too. It’s days like that I love my convertible even more! I got into the car after work and put the top down… instant happy! LOL! The rest of the evening didn’t quite go as planned though. I didn’t get to paint because I wasn’t able to get the key until 8:30. I guess I’ll have to give it another try tonight. I did pick out my paint colors though. The bedroom will be a Smoky Slate like color and the Living Room will be a slightly darker version of Pool Party. I figure two rooms is a good start! Fingers crossed that it happens tonight! 🙂

Freshly Made Sketches #141

It looks a little like a window does’t it?! I thought this would be a good opportunity to use a piece of Designer Series Paper that I didn’t think I would use, that is until I found a new stamp that goes pretty well with it. The card starts off with a base of Daffodil Delight Card Stock. My piece of Designer Series Paper is from the All Abloom Designer Series Paper Stack and is cut to match the sketch. For the greeting I used one of the stamps from the Oh My Goodies Stamp Set inked in Island Indigo and cut out with the Deco Labels Collection Framelits. I stamped it again in Daffodil Delight and cut out just the umpteenth and popped it up on Stampin’ Dimensionals. A super simple card but a good one to have in a pinch! Even though the DSP is a little busy I think that fact that it’s cut apart tones it down a bit. There you have my card for this week’s Freshly Made Sketches challenge.
