Where Creativity Meets Concord & 9th – Watercolor!

Ahh… Friday! I haven’t see you guys since Wednesday and it seems like forever!  My time at The Ink Pad was fun as always, I miss being at the store and if it wasn’t so expensive I would definitely go in more often! Wednesday night Jim came by for dinner and we watched the Mummy with Tom Cruise. I watched Daniel & Tristan yesterday, Tristan was a little bit of a beast but we all have our off days right?! Last night I assembled a power wheels motorcycle for a friend’s son’s birthday and finished off my evening by watching a few episodes of Altered Carbon. Not sure how I feel about it yet! This morning I have a bunch of flyers to do for Jim and some more odds and ends to get finished. 😀

It’s one of my favorite times of the month! Time for a new challenge over on the Where Creativity Meets Concord & 9th blog…

I haven’t watercolored in ages! I decided to something simple and I forgot how much I like the results! Onto a piece of Tim Holtz Watercolor Card I applied some clean water and then used the red from the Gansai Tambi Set. I need to remember to get a hard board to tape the watercolor card to, from what I have seen it really helps keep it nice and flat while you work on it! My impatience led me to use my Heat Tool to speed up the drying and then I ran the paper through my Big Shot to flatten it. It’s adhered to a card base of Neenah Solar White 110lb Card Stock with Tombo Extreme Adhesive. For the greeting I used the L O V E from the Concord & 9th Love You So Die Set and cut it out twice, once from Black 110lb and then from Tropical Sea. They are adhered to the card with Multi-Matte Medium, I added the black and then offset the teal. The card needed a little sparkle so I pulled out my Little Things by Lucy Shimmering Pool Mix Jewels and added a few randomly around the greeting! A very simple way to add watercolor to your card! I love the dark edges and variation in color!

I hope that you like my Design Team card for this month’s Where Creativity Meets Concord & 9th Watercolor Challenge! My Teammates have made some great cards to inspire you so head on over the BLOG head over and check them out! You have all month to play along and we hope you will share your card with us in the gallery! Don’t forget that you can follow us on Instagram and Facebook!

Paper Craft Crew 243

Hi! What’s going on by you?! I had a very productive day yesterday. I got a bunch of emails sent out and puts some plans in motion. Sometimes it’s hard to put things in perspective, but eventually you are left with no choice. The rest of the day was fun, Jim came by and we went out a got a late lunch and managed to finish the crafty project that we have been working on! Feels good to have it done. Now we’ll start working on some new ones! Today I have to run over to the Store again and then I have a bunch of projects to get started! 😀

It’s Wednesday so time for this week’s Paper Craft Crew challenge…

I wanted a nice simple card and I haven’t used feathers in a very long time! The card base is Neenah Solar White 110lb Card Stock. I adhered a strip of Gold Mirror Card with the ends flagged to it and then got to work on my center panel. The images and greeting are from the Lawn Fawn Dream Photopolymer Stamp Set. I heat embossed them and two extras onto a piece of Arches 140lb Cold Press Watercolor Card with Hero Arts Gold Embossing Powder. They are colored in with my Gansai Tambi Watercolors. The panel is adhered to a piece of Sugarplum and then to the card with Fun Foam and E-Z Runner. A strip of Peacock with the left end flagged is adhered along the top of the panel and the two extra feathers are cut out with the Coordinating Lawn Cuts and adhered to the right side of the Peacock Strip. I added three Pretty Pink Posh Gold Sequins and a heavy coat of Wink of Stella Clear Glitter Brush Pen to the feathers to complete the card! I do love the feathers, especially in the teal and purple! I hope that you like my Design Team card for this week’s Paper Craft Crew Sketch Challenge! Stop by the BLOG and check out the rest of the Team’s cards and enter yours in the gallery! Thanks for coming but today! I wish you all a wonderful Wednesday! 🙂

Fab Friday 97

TGIF! And I actually have a day off! Woo hoo! I can’t wait to go into Manhattan tomorrow with Sandy and Sue! I’m going to try and convince them to have Dirty Bird for lunch! Yes, I’m a little addicted! I have to remember to pick up a few things from the Stamp, Ink, Paper Store that I have to drop off at The Ink Pad tomorrow. I’m going to stop by there after the Mama Elephant event too to see Jane! Hopefully the weather holds out and it doesn’t rain, it can be as overcast as it wants to be but no rain! Last night’s Thirsty Thursday was fun! Heather thought it would be funny to pour water down the back of my shorts, let’s just say she didn’t find it as funny after! Whahahaha! What’s on for you this weekend?!

It’s a Fab Friday week so I’m over on the blog for this week’s challenge…

fab-fri-97-9-30-2016

A nice simple sketch! My card base is Neenah Solar White 110lb Card Stock. I cut out a piece of Black 110lb and Kraft with the Lawn Fawn Stitched Rectangles Stackables Lawn Cuts. The Kraft is heat embossed with the Hero Arts Designer Woodgrain Background Stamp with Hero Arts Clear Fine Detail Embossing Powder. To make my circle I used the Lawn Fawn Stitched Circles Stackables. The black panel is adhered with E-Z Runner. I added a piece of Vellum and some Foam Tape to the back of the Kraft piece and enclosed some Sparkling Clear Sequins inside of it. My flower is from the Altenew Best Mom Photopolymer Stamp Set and is stamped in Hero Arts Intense Black a few times using my Mini MISTI onto Arches 140lb Watercolor Card. I colored in the image with Gansai Tambi Watercolors, used the Coordinating Die to cut it out and adhered it to the card with 3D Foam Squares. For the greeting I heat embossed a sentiment from the Beautiful Lady Photopolymer Stamp Set in Hero Arts White Embossing Powder onto a strip of Black 110lb and attached it with more 3D Foam Squares. Yes, I added a few Pretty Pink Posh Sparkling Clear Sequins and some Tuxedo Black Irresistible Pico Embellisher to the flowers. I really do love woodgrain behind florals, just makes them pop! I hope that you like my Design Team card for the Fab Friday Sketch Challenge! We hope that we will see your card in the gallery so stop by the BLOG for some inspiration! Thanks for coming by today! Have a fabulous Friday! 🙂

Freshly Made Sketches 252

Yesterday turned out to be a beautiful day, nice and sunny and not too hot! The second wave of MISTI’s arrived at the Stamp, Ink, Paper Store in the morning and our friends Elyse and Nancy stopped by in the afternoon! I finished my cards for this month’s Card Class and will post a picture on the Stamp, Ink, Paper Instagram and Facebook pages tomorrow! I also played with my Crystal Katana Tool and I love it!! Dinner last night with my Parents was tacos! Yum! After dinner I came home and crafted for bit and then Taylor stopped by. We ran to Target to get a few “necessities” and then I just chilled for the rest of the evening. Today I want to see if I can get things set up for this week’s Magic of Vellum Class. We are closed tomorrow and Monday, yay for two days off in a row!

Before we get to today’s card I want to thank Linda for choosing me as her Prince for last week’s challenge! You can see the winners post HERE and my original post HERE! For this week’s Freshly Made Sketches challenge I made a super clean and simple card to share with you …

Freshly Made Sketches 252

The card base is Ivory 110lb Card Stock. Across the bottom is a strip of White Gold Curious Metallic. I heat embossed the flower and leaves from the Altenew Magnolias for Her Photopolymer Stamp Set in Hero Arts Clear Embossing Powder onto some Aches 140lb Watercolor Paper. They are colored in with my Gansai Tambi Watercolors and a #4 Silver Brush. After they had dried I cut them out with my Scissors and adhered the leaves with Dot Runner Adhesive and the flower with 3D Foam Squares. My greeting is from the Altenew Sentiments & Quotes Photopolymer Stamp Set and is stamped in Onyx Black and also heat embossed with Clear. A few Pretty Pink Posh Rose Gold Sequins add a little sparkle and complete the card! I played around with the watercoloring, adding some layers after it had dried and I love the effect! I hope that you enjoyed my card for this week’s Freshly Made Sketches challenge! Thank you for spending some of your Saturday with me! Have an absolutely awesome day! 🙂

OSAT August Blog Hop – Summer

OSAT Blog Hop Banner

I had a nice relaxing morning yesterday. I got up and had my coffee and puttered around on the internet before I took my shower. I even got to sit outside for a bit before it started to rain. After that I FaceTimed with Andrea for a little, stopped by my parents and then headed over to get my man bun chopped off. I can say that I did it and I’m glad to have my short hair back! Around 1:20 I started to make my way to La Guardia. It rained on the way there which in 94 degrees with no AC in the car wasn’t fun at all! Ken’s flight was a little late but I got him and nearly cooked him in the car on the way back to the store. It took us a little over two hours to get there. His class was awesome and all of the students made some really great projects! I also got to speak to one of my blog peeps on the phone for a little bit! So nice to actually get to speak in person! When the class was over I took Ken to get some food and then dropped him off at his hotel. I’m going to get him early so we can stop and have breakfast on the way to the store. He has another class today and then I’ll drop him off at the Ferry over to Connecticut later on tonight. It’s fun to get spend time with him, he’s a really nice guy!

For my projects today I’m participating in a blog hop with a bunch of my friends from one of the Facebook groups that I belong to. It’s called One Stamp at a Time Cards and More. If you have arrived here from my friend Martie’s blog, welcome! This month we have a a Summer theme! As soon as I saw the August My Monthly Hero Kit I knew that I would have to use it for this hop! I have two cards that I made with it and the add ons share with you!

My first card has a base of Neenah Solar White 110lb Card Stock. I used my Mini Ink Blending Tool to apply some Hero Arts Cornflower and Soft Pink Ink to a piece of Solar White 80lb, dried it with my Heat Tool and the heat embossed the greeting in Hero Arts Gold Embossing Powder. I then adhered that to the card base. Next up I used the Die from the August My Monthly Hero Kit to cut out a piece of Early Espresso and the Add-On Die to cut out a piece of Super Gold Curious Metallic. The Early Espresso piece is adhered to the background with Dot Runner and the Gold piece is adhered with 3D Foam Squares. The fairy is from the Kit too and is stamped in Hero Arts Intense Black Ink and colored in with Copics. I used the Coordinating Die to cut her out and adhered her with more 3D Foam Squares to the card. To tone down the Gold a little I used the Outer Frame from the Kit on a piece of Solar White 80lb and adhered that with more Dot Runner on top of the gold. For a little more magic I added a few Pretty Pink Posh Ballerina Pink, Gold and Pansy Purple Sequins and brushed the fairy with some Wink of Stella Clear Glitter Brush Pen. I love that kit! So fun and whimsical and the dies are just awesome!

OSAT August Blog Hop Card 1-WM

For the second card I also used a base of Neenah Solar White 110lb Card Stock. To create my background I heat embossed the clouds, stars and greeting from the Add-On Stamp Set Dreams Are Made in Hero Arts White Embossing Powder onto a piece of Tim Holtz Watercolor Card and then used my Mini Ink Blending Tool to apply some Blueprint Sketch, Chipped Sapphire and Picked Raspberry Distress Ink. I blended them together and then used a dry paper towel to buff the excess ink off of the heat embossed parts. The fairy is again from the Main Kit and is stamped in Hero Arts Intense Black Ink and colored in with my Gansai Tambi Watercolors. She is cut out with the Coordinating Die. I also heat embossed the wand in Hero Arts Silver Embossing Powder and cut that out with my Scissors. The background is adhered to the card base with E-Z Runner and the fairy and wand with 3D Foam Squares. For a little added sparkle I stamped the stardust in Encore Silver Metallic Ink. Love the emboss-resist background and the watercolored fairy, she looks so happy floating up there in the night sky!

Cards from Class – Watercolor 101

What a fun day yesterday at the Stamp, Ink, Paper Store! Renee had her crop and I got to see all of my ladies! I was helping my friend Peggy stamp some Altenew flowers with the MISTI and she told everyone to come over and watch! They were all amazed! Lots of MISTI’s and Altenew Stamps sold yesterday! Showing people easy ways to get awesome results and be creative, that’s definitely my favorite part of the store! I left to go home at 5:00 and had Chinese with my Parents. After that I came home and vegged on the couch for a bit and then ran a few errands. What a nice Saturday!

Today I have the cards that we made for the Watercolor 101 Class at the Store! The first one uses Tim Holtz Watercolor Card. I heat embossed the Hero Arts Antique Rose Stem Wood Mount Stamp and the greeting from the Concord & 9th Beautiful Words Photopolymer Stamp Set in Hero Arts Copper Embossing Powder. Both cards use Gansai Tambi Watercolors. For this card we just straight up added color to the image using a water brush. Simple and a good way to get use to the way to pick up color with the brush. The second card uses images from the Altenew Lotus Photopolymer Stamp Set and Arches 140lb Cold Pressed Paper. I heat embossed just the outlines along with the greeting from the Altenew Sentiments & Quotes Photopolymer Stamp Set in Copper Embossing Powder again. This time we did a wet on wet technique. They added water to the petals and then added color to the base of the petal, allowing the color to leech out into the rest of the wet area. Once they did all of the petals they came back in with a wet brush and pulled the color out from the base and then did the same for the leaf. They all love the second technique, it does give a much more realistic look than the first one. They also saw the difference between the Arches and Tim Holtz Paper. The Arches Paper is a thicker much higher quality paper and makes coloring much easier. I had a lot of fun teaching the class and all of the students said they felt a lot more comfortable watercoloring! I hope that you enjoyed seeing the cards that we made in class! Hopefully one day I will see you in one of my classes! Thank you so much for your time today! Have a super simple Sunday! 🙂

Mojo Monday 458

Of we go into another week! My weekend was great! My friend Barbara came out to the Stamp, Ink, Paper Store to visit! We had Panera for lunch and then hung out at the store. Around 4:30 we headed out, I wanted to stop home and drop off my bags. When we got to the house my Brother, Erika, Daniel and Tristen were at my parents! I finally got a peek at the new baby! Barbara got to meet everyone including Winston. From there we made our way into Manhattan, lots of traffic as always on a Sunday evening. By the time I found a parking space it was 7:00. Barbara and I said our goodbyes and I headed over to see Kim Doi. Once there I spoke to Michael for a bit and so did Kim. I helped Kim with her new rug and some electronics goodies that she had gotten and then we went out for Mexican food. The place we ate at was called Oaxaca Taqueria on 1st and 64th. The food was excellent and I haven’t had really good Mexican in a while! After dinner we went back to Kim’s and I shared my latest YouTube obsession, Troy Miller, with her. Watching him just make me smile! I started to head back to the car around 11:40. There was a big accident by Laguardia so that delayed me a little but I still made it home by 12:45 and I got to do one of my favorite things, drive back home from the city with the top down at night in my car! Today I have to get all of my orders in for the new Holiday goodies that are coming out! Fun!

The best way to start off a new week is with a new Mojo Monday Sketch…

Mojo458

Today’s card base is Neenah Solar White 110lb Card Stock. The first layer of my background is a piece of Crisp Cantaloupe. My piece of patterned paper is from the Dear Lizzy Documentary 6×6 Paper Pad. I backed it with a piece of Black 110lb and adhered that to the card. Another piece of paper from the same pad is adhered to the card with Fun Foam and E-Z Runner. The two banners are Pistachio Pudding and Daffodil Delight and my triangle is Sweet Sugarplum that I cut out with the Lawn Fawn Stitched Rectangle Frames Lawn Cuts. The banners and triangle are adhered to the card with Foam Tape. My butterfly is from the Hero Arts Stamp & Cut Butterflies Photopolymer Stamp Set. I heat embossed it onto a piece of Tim Holtz Watercolor Card with Hero Arts White Embossing Powder. The image is colored in with my Gansai Tambi Watercolors and the body is stamped in Onyx Black. I used the dies to cut them both out and adhered the butterfly to the card with another piece of Foam Tape. Right before I adhered the butterfly I stamped the greeting in Onyx Black. A little sprinkling of Pretty Pink Posh Pink Peony, Tangerine and Lemon Drop Sequins completes the card! I love my Gansai Tambi Watercolors, they have such a nice rich pigment to them and I think they really make the butterfly pop! I hope that you like my Design Team card for this week’s Mojo Monday Sketch Challenge! Stop by the BLOG and see the rest of the Team’s cards and don’t forget to enter your take on the sketch into the gallery! Thank you for starting another week off with me! Have a marvelous Monday! 🙂

Sue’s Birthday Card!

Hello my friends! How is your week going? Mine is pretty busy but we all know that I like it like that! LOL! Yesterday Sue came by the Stamp, Ink, Paper Store to help me out for a while. We unpacked and got orders put out and ordered more stuff! Renee had her Christmas Card Club and her peeps stopped by to make their cards and pick up some goodies from me! After work I stopped by Heather’s and picked up something that I had left there this morning when I stopped by for breakfast! Then I came home and had a little dinner with my Parents. After dinner I spent some time working on a few projects in the Stampin’ Galley, yes, I can never get enough craftiness in my day! LOL! Starting tomorrow I have some VERY exciting things to share with you! You won’t want to miss it some make sure that you come by! I’m a little giddy about it so you know it has to be good!

In honor of Sue’s visit to the store I have her Birthday card from last week to share with you today! The card base is Neenah Solar White 110lb Card Stock. My flowers are from the Altenew Botanical Garden Photopolymer Stamp Set. I stamped the main flower in Hero Arts Intense Black Ink onto a piece of Canson 140lb Watercolor Card using my Mini MISTI. I did a few times to make sure that I got a nice dark clean image. To color it in I used my Gansai Tambi Watercolors and a Waterbrush. In between layers I used my Heat Tool to dry the layers and when I was finished I used the Coordinating Dies to cut it out. On the card front I stamped another image from the set twice to serve as a subtle background. My frame is a piece of Gold Mirror Card that I cut out using the Spellbinders Triple Tear Nestabilities Die. A little Multi-Matte Medium Holds the frame in place and some Foam Tape adheres the die cut flower to the card. My greeting is from the Altenew Painted Greetings Photopolymer Stamp Set and is also stamped in Intense Black. Finally some Pretty Pink Posh Sparkling Clear, Gold and Raspberry Sequins are added around the flower for some more shine! I do love the simple feel to the card and the way the watercolor flower just leaps off the front! I hope that you enjoyed Sue’s Birthday as much as she did! Don’t forget to come back tomorrow for my little surprise! Thanks so much for visiting today! Have a tantalizing Thursday! 🙂

Paper Craft Crew 194

Happy Hump Day peeps! I trust that your week is going well! Mine is not too bad. I went to meet Bill at BJ’s this morning to help with something and then came home and stopped by my Parent’s to have lunch. After that I came back to my house and crafted for a bit. I spoke to Sue and her and I are going to go on a little adventure today! Taylor stopped by, she has to have her tonsils out in July, nothing like making someone wait! I also spoke to Michael for a bit and we got caught up! Sandy came by around 6:30 and we went out to dinner to the Noodle Shop. I have been wanting to try it for a while and I must say that we both enjoyed it! I also got a ride in her gorgeous new car, there are so many electronic goodies in there I could spend hours exploring it all! I hope that I can get my morning errands done in time to get back and watch the store for Renee at 2:00! Wish me luck!

Today I’m over on the Paper Craft Crew blog for this week’s challenge…

PCCCS194 DT Theme 5-11-2016

I have been using flowers a lot lately and thought that I didn’t have any new ones, I was wrong! My card starts off with a base of Neenah Solar White 110lb Card Stock. I heat embossed the sentiment from the Concord & 9th By Your Side Photopolymer Stamp Set in Hero Arts Copper Embossing Powder onto a piece of Desert Storm 80lb and then adhered it to the card with Tombo Extreme Adhesive. To create my flower panel I traced around the inside of one of the Lawn Fawn Stitched Ovals with a pencil and then heat embossed the flowers and stems from the Concord & 9th Shine Brighter Photopolymer Stamp Set with more Copper Embossing Powder onto a piece of Tim Holtz Watercolor Card. I stamped an extra stem and flower on a another piece of Watercolor Card and then used my Gansai Tambi Watercolors to color them in. Once they dried I cut out the pair with the Lawn Fawn Stitched Ovals Lawn Cuts and the single flower with the Coordinating Shine Brighter Dies. The extra stem is cut out with my Scissors and adhered to the oval with Multi-Matte Medium. I used some Foam Tape to adhere the flower and then some more Tombo Extreme to adhere the oval to the card. A generous sprinkling of Copper Sequins and the card is done! I really do love the Copper Embossing Powder and the Gansai Tambi Watercolors are definitely my favorite! I hope that you enjoyed my Design Team card for this week’s Paper Craft Crew Challenge! Stop by the BLOG and check out the rest of the Team’s projects and enter yours in the gallery! Thank you so very much for stopping by and catching up with me today! Have a wondrous Wednesday! 🙂

Happy Mother’s Day!!

Yes, a very Happy Mother’s Day to all of you out there! I hope that you all have a lovely day planned with your families! My Mum is going over to my brother’s to celebrate with Daniel and I’m off to Manhattan this morning! Yesterday we actually did get to see the sun for a little while after a gloomy start to the day. It came out just in time for my little ride over to Scrap-A-Latte to visit Renee and the hardcore croppers there for National Scrapbook Day! There was a little food left over from lunch so that’s what I had for dinner! Yummy Italian fare! In the morning I helped out my upstairs neighbor with his new dash-cam that he got for his car. He said how do you know how to do all of this?! I said, I don’t know, I just do! LOL! So it was a nice day yesterday and will be another nice one today!

Last night when I sat down to make my Mum her card I wanted to capture all of the things that she likes. That’s why there are flowers and another butterfly on today’s card! The card base is Neenah Solar White 110lb Card Stock with the front covered in a piece of Black 110lb. My background is a piece of Tim Holtz Watercolor Card. I stamped the flowers from the Concord & 9th Wildflowers Photopolymer Stamp Set in Onyx Black, masking off the largest flower. The flowers are then colored in with my Gansai Tambi Watercolors and the panel is adhered to the card with Tombo Extreme Adhesive. The butterfly is also cut from Watercolor Card using the Concord & 9th Floral & Flutter Die and colored with the same watercolors. I colored in the body with my Memento Tuxedo Black Marker. The greeting is two parts. The beautiful is cut from Black 110lb twice with the Concord & 9th Beautiful You Die and adhered together with Multi-Purpose Spray Adhesive. I dipped the bottom half into Versa-Mark and then heat embossed some Hero Arts Gold Embossing Powder onto it. It’s adhered to the card with Multi-Matte Medium and the butterfly with Foam Tape. The second part of the greeting is from the Concord & 9th Beautiful Words Photopolymer Stamp Set and is stamped in Onyx Black right under the beautiful. I added some Pretty Pink Posh Gold and Enchanted Garden Sequins and fluffed up the butterfly wings to complete the card! I absolutely love that butterfly and the sketch look of it along with the fun flowers! I think that Mum will really like the card and I hope that you do too! Thank you so much for coming by and again, Happy Mother’s Day! 🙂
