Waves Ombre Anchor, Card Class and an Extra!

Happy Father’s Day! I will be spending my day with Taylor and my Dad who is one of the most incredible people I will ever know. He is kind and giving, willing to help anyone out at anytime. I can only hope to be as awesome as my dad is and I’m sure that you feel the same way about your fathers! Yesterday was a rainy day here. I went and picked up Michael and we took the scenic route through some towns on the north shore including Cold Spring Harbor to get to Huntington. We had a particular destinations in mind, a little stamp store called The Moon Rose. We met the owner, Diana Kovacs, who also designs her own stamps. It was nice to look around and chat with her, she and Michael knew many of the same people. The store is small and cozy, It’s located behind an art gallery called FotoFoto, there are two tables for classes and plenty of nice bright lighting. Here are some pictures of the store…

Oh look, there is Mr. Trent!

Me & Diana

And here I am with the owner, Diana. You can visit The Moon Rose Facebook page and show her some love by liking it!

After our visit to The Moon Rose we went to SmashBurger for lunch and then came back to my house and just relaxed. Later on we stopped by Michaels to see Taylor and pick up a few things, including some Chinese food for dinner. When we came back to the house Michael remembered that he need to make a card for his dad so he headed into the Stampin’ Galley and made a nice quick card. He is going to do a post about it today and I’ll add a picture of his card as soon as his post goes up!

My card for today is also a nice simple Father’s Day one. I used Neenah Solar White 110lb Card Stock for the base and adhered a piece of Night of Navy to the front. The main panel is stamped with the Hero Arts with Basic Grey Waves Background Stamp inked in Pool to Navy Hero Arts Ombre Ink. Along the bottom is a piece of Bermuda Bay. I used the Lawn Fawn Stitched Scallop Borders to create my waves along the top. My greeting is from the Guy Greetings Photopolymer Stamp Set and is heat embossed in White Hero Arts Embossing Powder. I adhered some Fun Foam to the back of the panel and then adhered an MDF Anchor that I picked up from Michaels with Foam Tape. The top of the twine is tucked into a notched out piece of the Fun Foam and adhered with a Glue Dot. The panel is then adhered to the card with SNAIL. I really do like that Waves Background Stamp, especially inked in the Pool to Navy Ombre Ink!

SIP Challenge #1 – Reminder!

It was rainy and dreary here all day yesterday. A good day to be at work! LOL! After dinner I came home and chatted with Andrea on Skype and made a few cards. Not a very exciting evening but they are welcome every once in a while. My friend Kim got good news yesterday, she was approved by the board for her new apartment! That means that she will be moving in the next few weeks! Time to start picking paint colors and furniture!

My post for today is a reminder for the Stamp, Ink, Paper Challenge! There is still time to play and add your card to the wonderful ones that are already in the gallery! Here is another look at the challenge…

SIP Any Challenge 1

For my second dose of inspiration I decided to make a watercolor color card using some new pens that I recently acquired! The card base is Neenah Solar White 110lb Card stock and the background is a piece of Canson 140lb Cold Press Watercolor Paper. The main panel is another piece of the watercolor paper. I stamped the images from the Clearly Besotted Sweet Rose Photopolymer Stamp Set in Versa-Mark and heat embossed them with White Hero Arts White Embossing Powder. To do my watercoloring I used the Zig Clean Color Brush Pens and an Waterbrush. I first wet the area that I was going to color and then used the pens to fill it in. After I had finished and let it dry I heat embossed the sentiment from the same set in Ranger Gold Embossing Powder. The panel is then adhered to some Fun Foam and then adhered to the base. A few Pretty Pink Posh Gold Sequins add a little sparkle. I absolutely love the Zig Watercolor Pens, they are nice and easy to work with and the results are fantastic. I hope that you enjoyed your second dose of inspiration for the first Stamp, Ink, Paper Challenge. Go on over to the blog and check out what else the Design Team has come up with along with all of the great cards already in the gallery! Thank you so much for your visit today! Have a terrific Tuesday! 🙂

Mojo Monday 402!!

An extra happy Monday to you! I had a lovely day yesterday! Heather came by and picked my up at 10:30AM and we headed over to the Roosevelt Field Mall. She wanted to go to Charlotte Russe and I wanted to go to Aeropostale. Heather ended up getting three dresses and I got a pair of pants and a button down casual shirt. We wandered around a little and then headed over to the food court for some lunch. We decided on this place called the Melt Shop, we both had BLT’s and Tater Tots with Parmesan and Rosemary and it was delicious! On the way back from the mall we stopped at Century 21 where I got some more Ben Sherman shoes. One more stop at the Broadway Mall so Heather could pick up another dress and I got some shorts and sunglasses from the Aeropostale there and flip flops and a t-shirt from Old Navy. Quite a productive shopping day! The rest of the day was spent straightening up and crafting, the perfect Sunday! I hope that your Sunday was just as good!

Today is my first post for the Design Team over at Mojo Monday!! How cool is that?!?! Here is this week’s sketch from the very talented Julee Tilman…

Mojo402

I’m always quite inspired by the Mojo sketches and this one is no different! My card starts off with a base of Neenah Solar White 110lb Card Stock, I covered the front with a piece of Very Vanilla. Another piece of Very Vanilla is cut out with the Simon Says Stamp Stitched Rectangles Dies. I then used the Simon Says Stamp Stitched Circles Dies to cut out the negative space on the right along with the other circles. Before I adhered the stitched panel to the card with SNAIL and Fun Foam I placed a piece of paper from the Pretty Petals Designer Series Paper Stack so it would sit under the negative. The next largest circle is also a piece of the same DSP. On top of that going across are a piece of Mint Macaroon and Calypso Coral with the ends cut off at an angle. My greeting is from the A Whole Lot of Lovely Host Stamp Set and is stamped in Hero Arts Light to Dark Peach Ombre Ink on Very Vanilla. A piece of Fun Foam and some SNAIL adhere it to the card and it’s done! I really do love the patterns in the Pretty Petals Designer Series Paper Stack and that Ombre ink is just so cool! I really hope that you enjoyed my first card for Mojo Monday as a member of the Design Team! Now go on over to the Mojo Monday blog and see what the rest of the talented designers have created to inspire you and play along by entering your card in the gallery! Thank you so much for visiting with me today! I wish you a magnificent Monday! 🙂

Welcome to Stamp, Ink, Paper!!!!

An extra happy Monday to you! I had a rough start yesterday, lesson learned, but the rest of the day was nice. I went over and hung out with Brain and Kim for a bit and then came home and worked on some projects. I had a lot to get done this weekend in preparation for today’s announcement! I have been toying with the idea of starting my own challenge blog. I love playing along with all of the challenges that I do each week and seeing all of the amazing cards and projects that are submitted. I had fun being the co-captain on Can You Case It with my friend Eva. Since I already had a talented bunch of people Eva and I decided that I could take some of my team and move forward with my little project. So today marks the very first Stamp, Ink, Paper Challenge!

SIP Header

I’m excited to be able to do this and I couldn’t have done it without the help of the rest of the Design Team! We have added a few new faces and there are some that you know from CYCI. We thought that we would start things off with a nice easy challenge, Getting to Know You! Make a card using your favorite Stamps, Ink and Paper! Whatever style you like! I can’t wait to see what you come up with! To make sure that there is enough time for everyone to participate this challenge will run for two weeks! Some of our Design Team is also giving away blog candy so make sure and go to the SIP Challenge Site and visit the other designers! We are also giving you the ability to vote for your favorites! Make sure that you cast your vote and the person with the most votes at the end of the challenge will be featured as our Audience Pick!

So without further ado here is the new Stamp, Ink, Paper Challenge

SIP Any Challenge 1

I actually made a few cards for this but when I thought about what kind of card is my favorite I had to go with a college card! This one was inspired by one that I saw on Pinterest a while back. The base is Neenah Solar White 110lb Card Stock. Two layers, one of Neenah 80lb and one of Pink Pirouette, are adhered to the card with SNAIL and Fun Foam. On top of that is a piece of Vellum that I heat embossed the Hero Arts Large Notebook Paper Background Stamp with Hero Arts White Embossing Powder. The wreath is from the Your Perfect Day Photopolymer Stamp Set and is heat embossed in Ranger Liquid Platinum Embossing Powder and cut out with a die from DiesByDave. I adhered some of the pearls that Mr. Trent sent me with Thermo-Web Bling Glue Dots. The heart is a piece of red felt from Michaels and is cut out with the Hearts Collection Framelits and adhered with Glue Dots. For the flowers I used some Pink Pirouette and Watermelon Wonder with the Tim Holtz Tiny Tattered Florals Dies, they are also adhered with Glue Dots. One of the Subtles Collection Designer Buttons has a piece of Hemptique Natural Hemp Twine tied in a bow and it’s adhered with another Glue Dot. A few Hazel & Ruby The Makery Shine & Sparkle Sequins and Pretty Pink Posh Sparkling Clear Sequins are adhered with Crystal Effects. The stamped greeting is from the Crazy About You Photopolymer Stamp Set and is stamped in Tip Top Taupe. The you is a piece of Pink Pirouette cut out with the Simon Says Stamp You Craft Die and adhered with Ranger Multi-Matte Medium. Phew! That’s a lot of stuff! LOL! I love the roses and the addition of the felt to the card, the wreath, well you know how I feel about that! So there is my first card for the NEW Stamp, Ink, Paper Challenge blog! I really hope that you enjoyed it and that you will go over and see what the rest of the talented Design Team has to inspire you! We would love to see one of your creations in the gallery too! Thank you so much for coming by to see me and making my days brighter with your comments and visits! Have an absolutely amazing Monday my friends! 🙂

Mojo 399

Another nice day here! They said that we might get some thunderstorms but they stayed to the north of us. When I got home from work I was Skyping with Andrea and she was showing me the storm clouds and a tornado to the north of her! There were some crazy things going in Colorado! I was part of a text conversation during the day that involved Brian getting his tongue pierced so I headed over to meet Heather at his house and we went to see my friend Mark at his Tattoo shop. I spoke with Mark about my next tattoo that I wanted to get while Brian got his tongue pierced. He didn’t even flinch, however my knees got a little weak at the sight of it! After we went to 7-Eleven to get him a Slurpee to help with the swelling. We got back to his house and I dropped him off and I headed over to Heather’s to meet up with Stephanie for some cocktails and conversation! I had my Whiskey Smash and all was right in the world again! I also got some fun news! Michael will be coming back to NY soon! I’ll keep you posted and let you know when he arrives! 🙂

Thankfully I made my card Tuesday night, 10:00pm is a little late to start making a card! That card is for this week’s Mojo Monday sketch challenge…

Mojo399

I decided that I wanted something fun and colorful so I pulled out some bright Designer Series Paper and a fun Stamp Set! The card base is Neenah Solar White 110lb and the front is covered in a piece of Pumpkin Pie. The background and strip across the middle are pieces of paper from the Sweet Taffy Designer Series Paper Pack. I cut a banner from a piece of Rich Razzleberry and adhered it to the card under the striped piece. A piece of Tempting Turquoise is flagged on both ends and adhered on too of that. My greeting and crayon are from the Lawn Fawn You Color My World Photopolymer Stamp Set. The greeting is stamped in Hero Arts Butter to Orange Ombre Ink and cut out with the Lawn Fawn Small Stitched Circles. The crayon is stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black on Daffodil Delight and cut out with my Paper Snips. Some Fun Foam is adhered to the back of the circle and then it’s adhered to the card. The crayon is adhered to the circle with SNAIL. A scattering of Doodlebug Sequins are adhered to the card with Crystal Effects for a little sparkle. I do love the bright colors and fun stamp set! I hope that you like my card fort this week’s Mojo Monday sketch challenge! Thank you so much for visiting with me today and I wish you a very nice Thursday! 🙂

Paper Players 245, Freshly Made Sketches 186 & Pals Paper Arts 251

Yes, you read correctly, you get three cards today! Not a bad way to start a Monday?! My day yesterday was just lovely! The weather was perfect, I got some projects finished, took ride in the convertible and ran some errands. A very nice Sunday indeed! I even got to relax a little and chat with the people upstairs. I finished the night off with some Chicken Tikka Masala and an Innis & Gunn Rum Cask Beer! Everyday should be like yesterday! How was your Sunday? I hope that it was just as good as mine!

So back to the three posts, I honestly don’t know how I got so behind this week! But I wanted to get them all in, hence the three cards! We’ll start off with the usual Monday card for the Paper Players

Paper Players #245

Despite my manliness I do enjoy making a nice girly card from time to time! The base of this card is Neenah Solar White 110lb. I flagged a piece of paper from the All Abloom Designer Series Paper Stack and adhered it to the base with SNAIL. On top of that is a White Tea Lace Paper Doily. The floral piece is cut from some American Crafts Glitter Paper with the Simon Says Stamp Calliope Die and adhered to the card with Ranger Multi Matte Medium. I used the Simon Says Stamp Tiny Coin Envelope Die to cut out a piece of vellum to serve as the pocket for my greeting which is from the Lovely Amazing You Photopolymer Stamp Set and is stamped in Rose Red. I punched a hole in the top and threaded some Hemptique Natural Hemp Twine though it and slipped it into the little vellum pocket. A few sequins from Pretty Pink Posh and some more of the pearls that Mr. Trent sent me complete the card. The pink, pearls and doily make it girly right?!

Paper Players 245-WM

Next up we have my card for his week’s Freshly Made Sketches challenge…

Freshly Made Sketches 186

I used the sketch in a not so literal way this week. My card base is Neenah Solar White 110lb. The background is a piece of Soft Sky and the greeting is stamped in Soft Suede using the Build a Bouquet Photopolymer Stamp Set. I then adhered some Fun Foam to the back and then adhered it to the card. All of the images are from the Hero Arts Color Layering Bird and Branch Photopolymer Stamp Set, I used the coordinating Bird Frame Cuts to cut them all out. For the bird I used Sahara Sand, Smoky Slate and Lost Lagoon, his feet are Hello Honey, the flowers are Crisp Cantaloupe and Calypso Coral and the branches are Soft Suede. A little White Signo Gel Pen and Sakura Black Gel Pen make his eye a little more realistic. All of the pieces are then adhered to the background with either Foam Tape or SNAIL. I just love that bird and can’t wait to try him out in other colors!

FMS 186-WM

And last but certainly not least is my card for this week’s Pals Paper Arts color challenge…

PPA 251

I got to use some new goodies from the upcoming Stampin’ Up! 2015-2016 Annual Catalog which you can order from starting June 1st! The card base for this one is Whisper White and I ran a piece of the Vintage Gingham Garden Designer Washi Tape down the left side. A piece of Tempting Turquoise is embossed with the Spring Flowers Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. I used some Fun Foam and SNAIL to adhere it to the card. The flag on top of that is a piece of paper from the Sweet Taffy Designer Series Paper Pack. The butterfly is from one of the NEW Host Sets called Floral Wings. I stamped the butterfly in Daffodil Delight, the flowers in Melon Mambo and the leaves in Pacific Point. Since the dies aren’t available yet I used my Paper Snips to cut them out and adhered it to the card with Foam Tape. Some pearls go down the body and a few random Pretty Pink Posh Sequins are scattered around the card. Finally my greeting is form the same set and it’s heat embossed in White Stampin’ Emboss Powder on Daffodil Delight and cut out with the Bitty Banners Framelits. A fun, bright, cheery card even if I do say so myself!

PPA 251-WM

Paper Players 242

Monday… sigh… the weekend flew by as always. It was a nice day here yesterday, sunny and in the 50’s again. I did some crafty things in the morning and then Heather came by and picked me up. We went to Target, I got to use my watch to pay for my coffee at Starbucks, and then stopped at the deli to get some lunch. She had to run home and attend to her laundry but came back over and got me so we could run to Macy’s. It’s her birthday next week and she had received some gift cards a little early. There was a Michael Koors bag that she wanted so we picked that up and then I had a look at the mens clothing. I found some shirts and got to pay for them with my Apple Watch too! The lady at the register was a little surprised when I held my watch up to the credit card reader and it beeped! LOL! I love being all futuristic! Maybe someday soon I will be able to get rid of my wallet all together! After I got home I finished up some cards and the spent some time getting sucked into YouTube! I have to stop doing that! How was your weekend?

The good thing about today is it’s time for another Paper Players challenge…

Paper Players #242

I have some more new stuff that I have been meaning to use so I did that on today’s card! My card begins with a base of Neenah Solar White 110lb Card Stock. My background is a piece of Island Indigo. I used the Simon Says Stamp Circle Border Die for my Pool Party piece that goes across the top. The three banners are Coastal Cabana, Bermuda Bay and Night of Navy. I used the Simon Says Stamp Large Tags Die to cut out some Neenah Solar White 80lb and stamped the greeting from the Simon Says Stamp Big Birthday Wishes Photopolymer Stamp Set using the new Hero Arts Ombre Ink in Pool to Navy. A piece of Whisper White Baker’s Twine is tied through the top. I adhered a piece of Fun Foam to the back of the background and the back of the tag and then adhered them to the card. My “Cheers” is cut out from Pool Party using the Simon Says Stamp Cheers! Die. I used a little Ranger Multi Matte Medium to adhere it to the card. I’m loving that ombre ink, such a cool effect! This card will be for my friend Anthony who’s birthday just happens to be today! Happy Birthday Anthony! I hope that you enjoyed my card for this week’s Paper Players challenge. Thanks so much for coming by to see me today! Have a magnificent Monday! 🙂

Freshly Made Sketches 177

I woke up this morning to rain, better than snow and it will help to melt what is left of the snow that we had. Yesterday was a nice day! Work was quiet and I managed to get caught up on most everything that I had pending. After work I stopped by the Post Office to get a package that was supposed to be delivered but I guess was forgotten. I wanted to get it yesterday so that our lovely mail lady wouldn’t just launch in onto the steps in the rain like she usually does! Last night dinner was spent with my friends Anthony and Bill. We stopped by Michaels to see Taylor before heading to Friday’s. We had the endless appetizers and the first round was the new Siracha wings, they were quite tasty! They were followed by garlic parmesan wings, pot stickers and more wings! I think I may sprout some feathers today from all of the chicken I had! LOL! I came home and made my card for today while Skyping with my friend Eva! We have something in the works that I’ll be able to tell you about in April! It’s going to be lots of fun!

My little card that I made last night is for this  week’s Freshly Made Sketches challenge…

Freshly Made Sketches 177

I wanted to use a new background stamp that I got yesterday that I thought went perfectly with the anchor from the Guy Greetings Set! My card base for today is Whisper White Card Stock. The panel in the middle is the Hero Arts Waves Background Stamp, I used my Stampin’ Write Markers in Island Indigo, Bermuda Bay and Garden Green to ink it and stamped it on Soft Sky. It’s backed with a piece of Bermuda Bay and adhered to the card with some fun foam behind it to give it a little lift. A strip of Garden Green goes down the left side. My greeting and anchor are from the Guy Greetings Photopolymer Stamp Set, the greeting is heat embossed in White Stampin’ Emboss Powder on a piece of Island Indigo, I flagged the right side and adhered it to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. The anchor is heat embossed on Vellum and cut out with my Paper Snips, a little 2-Way Glue holds it in place. A scattering of some Green with Envy Hazel & Ruby – The Makery Sequins and a few from Pretty Pink Posh complete the card. I absolutely love the colors and the sequins are so cool! I hope that you enjoyed my card for this week’s Freshly Made Sketches challenge! Thank you all very much for coming by to see me, you make all the effort well worth it! Have a craft Saturday! 🙂
