Fab Friday 16

Guess what?!?! It’s FRIDAY!! Woo hoo!! One of my favorite days of the week! This was a very busy week and I will be super happy at 5:00 when it’s finally over. I’m out to dinner with my friend Anthony and his mom tonight. We are going to get him an iPad for his birthday! I always love a trip to the Apple Store and some time with my peeps is always great. I’m off to the city tomorrow to see some friends and wander around a bit. Then it will be a crafty Sunday! 🙂

Today’s card – Fab Friday Color Challenge Design Team…

I was inspired by my clever friend LeAnne’s card from Tuesday. I love the Chevron Embossing Folder and cut out it looks great. It does take a little time but the end result is quite cool. The base of my card is Crumb Cake. I embossed some Calypso Coral, Pool Party and Summer Starfruit with the Chevron Textured Impressions Embossing Folder and used my Paper Snips a lot! A piece of Crumb Cake made into a tag and stamped with the Oh, Hello! Stamp Set tied with some Linen Thread finishes off the card nicely. Woo hoo! The color renovation has been announced! I’m so happy that they have kept four of the five 2011-2013 In-Colors! Create with Connie and Mary 242

Woo hoo! It’s FRIDAY!! I am so happy that this week is over, it seemed much longer than any week in recent history. Work was really busy and will be for a while, can’t wait for that to stop too. How are you all doing today? Well, it snowed here last night and we got about 3 inches. On a positive note it’s supposed to be in the 50’s over the weekend, crazy weather but I’ll take it!

For today’s post I have my Create with Connie and Mary Challenge card. This week the dynamic duo have given us a color challenge…

I have to say that these are some of my favorite colors, especially Summer Starfruit. 🙂 My inspiration for today’s card came from Pinterest. The base of my card is Summer Starfruit Card Stock. I took a piece of Very Vanilla used my Summer Starfruit Stampin’ Write Marker and the Color Spritzer Tool (that I forget I have even though it was one of the first tools that I got from Stampin’ Up!) to make a nice subtle background for my card. The large flagged piece is Raspberry Ripple. I used the Borders Scoring Plate with my Simply Scored Scoring Tool to make the zig zag pattern on it and flagged the bottom. Some SNAIL adheres it to the card. Next up is a piece of Primrose Petals that I cut out with the Delicate Doilies Large Sizzlit and cut in half. The greeting is from the Oh, Hello! Stamp Set and is stamped in Raspberry Ripple on Very Vanilla. I spritzed it too and put a thin strip of Primrose Petals across the top before I flagged the bottom. Behind it is a piece of Summer Starfruit that is again flagged. I used one of the Designer Builder Brads on the top. For the center image I stamped the banner image from the Itty Bitties Stamp Set in Summer Starfruit, punched it out with the Itty Bitty Punch Pack and adhered it with some Multipurpose Glue before I adhered the epoxy dome to it. The whole piece is adhered to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. I love the simplicity of the card and you know I love some flags! Freshly Made Sketches #76

Ahh… Thursday, you are so close to Friday and that makes it a good day! It snowed here but it didn’t start until around 10:00 last night so now they are saying that it won’t end until Friday night. I really hope that it’s just rain. I know, I complain a lot about snow but I have a convertible and she’s mad that she hasn’t gone topless in a while! 😉

Keeping to my schedule this week today is Freshly Made Sketches day. Thais week we have a sketch from Linda S….

My card is based on Mary Fish’s tutorial that she posted earlier in the week. You can take a look at it here. I liked the punched out butterflies with the DSP behind them and the little ones in the middle and I thought it would work well with this sketch. The base of my card is Sahara Sand Card Stock. The Pool Party panel has the butterflies punched out using the Elegant Butterfly Punch. Behind it is a piece of Sycamore Street Designer Series Paper from Sale-A-Bration. I adhered the Pool Party panel over the DSP with Stampin’ Dimensionals. The little butterflies in the middle are punched out with the Bitty Butterfly Punch from Island Indigo. I stamped the buttons from the Itty Bitties Stamp Set in Tangerine Tango and punched them out with a standard hole punch. The bitty butterflies and the buttons are adhered with Mini Glue Dots. The greeting is from the Curly Cute Stamp Set and is also stamped in Tangerine Tango. I like the dimension and interest that the butterflies give the card while still keeping it simple. We all know that Sahara Sand is my new Crumb Cake! I hope that you like my Freshly Made Sketches card for this week’s challenge. Thanks for sharing some creativity with me today. Freshly Made Sketches #71

Hello peeps! What’s going on in your neck of the woods? Same old same old here on Long Island. But the week is almost over, time seems to moving along at a rapid pace. I can’t believe that we are at the end of January already! Ahh… but before you know it it will be spring! I like the fact it stays light past 5 o’clock now. More daylight always means more happy!

So today I have my card for this week’s Freshly Made Sketches. But before I get to that I want to thank one of the amazing Demonstrator Support Reps from Stampin’ Up! Last week I email Demo Support because I wanted to know exactly how they made one of the cards they demoed at Leadership. I thought it was strange that I had not heard back, they usually get back to you within two days. Well, I got an email from Pam today with the instructions and an apology for the delay. Thank you very much Pam! You made my evening. I’m thanking Pam in the hopes that she sees this because there is no way for us to email the same rep back so, today’s card is for Pam. 🙂

I love that fact that it has a tag on it. I haven’t done anything with a tag in a long time. The base of my card is Sahara Sand Card Stock. It is definitely my new Crumb Cake. I love the grayish sand color! The background is made with a piece of Island Indigo embossed with the Vine Street Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. I created the tag using my Simply Scored Tool. I cut a piece of Sahara Sand to 1 3/4″ x 2 3/4″ and used the Diagonal Plate to score the corners and then cut the off with my Stampin’ Trimmer. The reinforcement at the top is punched first with a regular hole punch and then with the 1/2″ Circle Punch. I used a stamp from the Beyond Plaid Stamp Set inked in Sahara Sand to give the tag some texture. The feathers (my question to DS) are made from Creped Filter Paper and the Blossom Builder Punch. I sponged them in Island Indigo and adhered a piece of Whisper White Bakers Twine on the back and used my Paper Snips to cut in at an angle along the edges. They make some really nice looking feathers! They are adhered to the tag with Multipurpose Glue. The flower is from the Madison Avenue Stamp Set and is stamped in Island Indigo on Sahara Sand and cut out with the Floral Frames Collection Framelits Dies. I backed it with a piece of Island Indigo punched out with the 1 1/4″ Scallop Circle Punch and a piece of Sahara Sand punched out with the 1 3/8″ Circle Punch. An In-Color Printed Brad holds it together and the flower and the tag are adhered to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. For the greeting I stamped a piece of Sahara Sand with the vine from the Madison Avenue Stamp Set in Sahara Sand and then stamped the greeting form the Teeny Tiny Wishes Stamp Set in Island Indigo. A flagged end and some SNAIL and the card is complete. I hope that you enjoyed my Freshly Made Sketches card for this week’s challenge. Cloudy Spring Wish Photo B’day

Monday morning so soon… why do you spirit away my weekend?! It was a good weekend, but way too short as always. I had a nice morning in Manhattan yesterday. Breakfast with Kim was fun and yummy as always and I got to see my friends Isabella, Diego and Bettina which is always nice. I got some exercise in walking about 30 blocks even though it was quite chilly. The train ride in and back was quiet, Sunday is always a nice day to take the train. There are usually a lot less people and they seem calmer on Sunday for some reason. I’m starting the day off right with some delicious Cadbury’s Whole Nut Chocolate! LOL! I love chocolate! What all did you guys do this weekend?

I have a non-challenge card for you today. I had seen a card with a similar concept in a magazine but I put my own spin on it. The base of the card is Riding Hood Red Card Stock. The background is created with the Cloudy Day Textured Impressions Embossing Folder and some Baja Breeze. I left about 1 1/4″ alone along the bottom as I put the card stock in sideways. The little instant pictures are made using a backing of Whisper White and Basic Black for the bottom one, Basic Gray for the middle one and Baja Breeze for the top one. The grey and blue are stamped with the hot air ballon form the Spring Sampler Stamp Set in Riding Hood Red and Not Quite Navy. For the greeting I used my favorite stamp from the Make a Wish Stamp Set, stamped in Not Quite Navy and cut out with the Ovals Collection Framelits Dies. The instant pictures and the greeting are adhered to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. I like the instant pictures on the card a lot. The three different colors on them make it look like the pictures are developing. I hope that you enjoyed today’s card. Thanks very much for visiting and I hope that you have a super day!

Tracey’s 40th B’day!

Well that weekend just flew by! Lots to do makes time go quick. It was a busy weekend here on my blog too. We had the Control Freaks Blog Tour that started Saturday night and then my Paper Players Guest Designer post on Sunday morning. The Blog Tour was great! It’s quite awesome to be in such good creative company. And did you see all of the other designers cards over at the Paper Players? They just keep on getting better and better! I really do love being able to have the ability to share my creative passion with you and to be surrounded by such talented people. Let’s not forget all of you! Today I’m posting a birthday card for my cousin Tracey in England. I would doubt that she has received it yet so I’m hoping that she forgets to look today! She is turing 40 today and she honestly doesn’t look a day over 26! Her favorite color is pink and she manages a pub in London so this is what I came up with for her. The base of the card is Rose Red Card Stock. For the background I embossed a piece of Pink Pirouette with the Chevron Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. The flags at the top are cut out with the Hearts a Flutter Framelits Dies. The top one is stamped in Rose Red with an image from the Hearts a Flutter Stamp Set and the lower one is stamped in the same color using the Memorable Moments Stamp Set. The middle panel contains images from the Happy Hour Stamp Set. The drinks are stamped in Pink Pirouette and the olive in what else… Old Olive! I backed it with piece of Rose Red and all of the pieces, including the greeting, are adhered with Stampin’ Dimensionals. Speaking of the greeting it is also from the Happy Hour Stamp Set and again stamped in Rose Red. I think that the card fills the pink and pub manager requirements, don’t you? Hello everyone! I had a very busy day yesterday, it was definitely a Monday. Work was crazy and it didn’t stop when I got home. I hope that you all had a better day. Wow! That’s a lot of cool new product! Now on to today’s post which is for this week’s Mojo Monday Sketch Challenge. This time around we have a sketch from Carole Burrage…

I had a good idea what I was going to use when I saw the sketch. I have been looking through some magazines for some new color inspiration and I saw one with Rich Razzleberry, Chocolate Chip and Whisper White (that’s not what they called them but that’s what I saw!). The base of my card is Rich Razzleberry Card Stock. For the background on the left side I embossed a piece of Chocolate Chip and Old Olive with the Honeycomb Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. The panel on the right is created using some Whisper White and an image from the Oh, Hello Stamp Set stamped in Rich Razzleberry. I used my Stamp-a-ma-jig for perfect alignment! For the main panel I cut a piece of Whisper White to 2 1/2″ x 3″. I measured in 3/4″ on each side on the 3″ side, top and bottom, and measure down 1 1/4″ on each side of the 2 1/2″ side. I then used my Paper Trimmer to cut the corners off and made a large hexagon. The images are from the Bloomin’ Marvelous Stamp Set**. The leaves are stamped in Old Olive and the flowers are stamped in Rich Razzleberry and cut out with my Paper Snips. Some Stampin’ Dimensionals hold them in place. They also hold the butterflies from the same set in the same color that I punched out with the Bitty Butterfly Punch and placed on the right panel. Finally, the greeting is from the Vintage Verses Stamp Set** and is stamped in Chocolate Chip. The colors bring to mind the garden and I love the worn look of the images form the Bloomin’ Marvelous Set. Snowy Owl Birthday

Happy last day of 2012! I can’t believe the year is almost over, like hours away from being over! I want to take a minute to thank all of you for visiting, leaving comments and just being awesome. People from over 115 different countries have stopped by! Wow! A special thanks to Canada and Australia for so many visits! At the beginning of the year I set a goal for myself, to have a post every day. I’m extremely happy to report that I accomplished that goal! Today marks my 366 post for 2012! I also am happy to report that I have had over 100,000 visitors this past year. So, for me this has been an amazing year and I have all of you to thank!

For today’s post I have a birthday card that friends of mine asked me to make for their mom. I was told that it should have a winter theme and that she likes owls and here is what I came up with.

The base of the card is Sahara Sand Card Stock and for the background I embossed a piece of Whisper White with the Northern Flurry Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. The branch is form the Take Care Stamp Set and is stamped in Early Espresso and cut out with my Paper Snips. The little owl is punched out with the Owl Builder Punch from a piece of Sahara Sand and his eyes are Whisper White, Pool Party and Basic Black. His little vest is a teeny tiny sneak peek at the Sycamore Street Designer Series Paper**. I used some Stampin’ Dimensionals to mount him to the card. The greeting is from the Wacky Wishes Host(ess) Stamp Set and is stamped in Pool Party. A nice simple card with both of the requests added. It was good to use the Owl Punch, he was feeling a little neglected! I hope you like the birthday card as much as my friend’s mom did. Thank you for you visit and I’ll see you next year! 🙂

Cherry Crumb Chevron Tree

Good morning! How is your weekend going so far? Mine seems to by moving along at light speed like it usually does. On a very happy note I did place my Spring Catalog pre-order this morning so I will have some neat sneak peeks to share with you in the coming weeks. Can you believe that the Spring Catalog is almost here?! This year has really gone fast for me, how about you guys?

For today’s post I have a card for you that I made the day after Thanksgiving, or Chevron Friday as I refer to it! The base of the card is Crumb Cake Card Stock. I stamped some snowflakes from the Snowflake Soiree Stamp Set in Early Espresso randomly on the base. The chevrons are created with a piece from the Festival of Prints Designer Series Paper Stack and the First Edition Specialty Designer Series Paper. I alternated them on either side and a thin piece of Early Espresso is adhered along the middle. I cut out a piece of Cherry Cobbler with the Delicate Doilies Large Sizzlit and adhered that on the left. The greeting is from the Greetings of the Season Stamp Set and is stamped in Early Espresso and I flagged the one end. It’s adhered to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. I really like the abstract tree look and I love the colors together. I hope that you are inspired by today’s card to make some unusual holiday cards of you own. Naturals Evergreen Cheer Christmas

Hello peeps! How are we all doing today? Still no power at my house. Sigh… being cold inside the house has lost it’s appeal! LOL! Do you know when you get that internal cold that you just can’t get rid of… I have that. Still, better of than so many others so chin up and and on we go. Today’a post is a nice simple Christmas card. I made it a little while back and the more I look at it the more I like it. It starts off with a base of Naturals White Card Stock. The bottom half of the card uses a piece of Be of Good Cheer Designer Series Paper for the background. I cut out a piece of Crumb Cake and rounded the corners with the 3/16″ Corner Rounder. The tree image is from the Evergreen Stamp Set and is stamped in Early Espresso. The greeting is from the More Merry Messages Stamp Set and is markered in Cherry Cobbler. I used my Stamp-a-ma-jig to line them up. To give the card some dimension I tied some Linen Thread through a Naturals Designer Button and adhered it to the card with a Mini Glue Dot.
