Paper Craft Crew 112

I do enjoy a Wednesday, it’s the halfway point and after the day I had yesterday I’m glad to be that much closer to Friday. Work made up for all of the pleasant days that I have had by being just annoying. We have good days and bad days, that’s just the way things work right?! I ran Heather over to her catering job to pick something up after work and then had dinner. I did get a call from my friend at the Apple Store yesterday telling me that he had an iPhone 6 for me to pick up. My friend Kim in the city wanted one and she is on my plan so I headed over and picked it up. I also stopped at BestBuy to get her a case and a screen protector. Now to get it to her, because once the new phone is purchased the old one gets shut off! My friend Chantal to the rescue! I went and dropped it off at her house and Kim will go over to her office and pick it up tomorrow. It was a very involved process to make it all come together but it did in the end!

PCCCS112 Sketch 10-01-2014

It looked vaguely familiar to me so I decided not to use the speech bubbles again. I started off today’s card with a base of Sahara Sand Card Stock and on top of that is a piece of Basic Black. The top panel is a piece of Tangerine Tango and I stamped one of the images from the Gorgeous Grunge Stamp Set in Memento Tuxedo Black on it. My pumpkins and leaf are cut out using the Fun Fall Framelits. I cut one of the pumpkins out of the pane and one from Crushed Curry. The leaf is cut from a piece of Sahara Sand. Before I adhered the panel to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals I tucked a piece of the Motley Monsters Designer Series Paper behind the negative pumpkin and I stamped the greeting from this month’s Paper Pumpkin Kit in Memento Tuxedo Black. The other pumpkin and leaf are adhered with more Stampin’ Dimensionals and three black enamel dots are secured in the lower right corner. A fun and different Halloween card don’t you think?! That’s my interpretation of this week’s Paper Craft Crew sketch. Creation Station Blog Tour – Work of Art

Happy Sunday and welcome to the second blog tour for the Creation Station! Thanks so much for joining us. If you came by on the last one you know that we focus on one stamp set and an accessory every other Sunday to give you inspiration! If this is your first time with us welcome! If you are following the Tour you have arrived here from the very clever Deborah Smart’s blog. How was that for inspiration?! I hope that I can give you some ideas on how to use our featured stamp set Work of Art and accessory Bakers Twine. The post has lots of pictures that I have taken during the process of making the projects so sit back relax and enjoy!

My first project is a card and it’s packed full of new goodies! I used my new favorite color Lost Lagoon* for my base. The background is created with a piece of Blushing Bride that I stamped in Blushing Bride with the longest stroke from the Work of Art* Stamp Set. I used my Gird Paper to help me line it it all up.

Next up is a Tea Lace Paper Doily that I brayed in Lost Lagoon*. I went over it a few times to make it nice and dark to help my heart in the middle stand out a bit more.

The smaller heart is stamped in Lost Lagoon* using my Stamp-a-ma-jig to make sure they are nice and even. The greeting is from the Really Good Greetings Stamp Set and is stamped in Versa-Mark and heat embossed with Gold Stampin’ Emboss Powder.

I used the Hearts Collection Framelits to cut it out and a piece of Brushed Gold Card Stock. I used the Occasions Paper-Piercing Pack to pierce around the edge.

Across the bottom are 5 hearts that I stamped in Lost Lagoon* and punched out with the Small Heart Punch. Stampin’ Dimensionals hold them and the large heart to the card.

Finally I used the Owl Builder Punch to punch out a tiny heart from some Blushing Bride to go in the middle of the greeting. I have to say that Lost Lagoon* goes really well with so many different colors. I think it looks quite snazzy paired with Blushing Bride and some Gold thrown in for good measure!

Next up is a card again using the Work of Art Stamp Set for a Background and my favorite little fish! This card starts off with a base of Basic Black and the background is Whisper White embossed with the Chevron Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. The background for the goodies are the zig zags from the Work of Art Stamp Set, stamped in Island Indigo, Lost Lagoon*, Pool Party and Soft Sky.

I backed it with more Basic Black and adhered it to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. My fish is from the By the Tide Stamp Set and is heat embossed in Black Stampin’ Emboss Powder and cut out with my Paper Snips. Some Silver Foil Sheet punched out with the Itty Bitty Shapes Punch Pack and a standard hole punch make the bubbles.

The greeting is from the May Paper Pumpkin Kit and is stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black on adhesive cork sheet and cut out with the Word Bubbles Framelits.

I really love using cork sheet, it cuts nicely with our Framelits and takes ink pretty well. The stamps that come with the Paper Pumpkin kits are some of my favorites too!

My final card uses our featured accessory Bakers Twine. The base for this card is Soft Sky and the background is s piece of So Saffron that is embossed with the Decorative Dots Textured Impressions Embossing Folder from Sale-A-Bration that is in the new Catalog! I used the Something for Baby Stamp Set* to stamp the safety pins and heat embossed them in Silver Stampin’ Emboss Powder, I think it gives a nice real look to them.

They are cut out with the Baby’s First Framelits*, love matching Framelits don’t you?! Next up I cut out a piece of Soft Sky with the same Framelits and used the Eclectic Paper-Piercing Pack* to pierce around the edge. A needle and White Bakers Twine sew the twine through the piercing.

My greeting is from the Baby, We’ve Grown Stamp Set from the Occasions Catalog, it’s carried over! I stamped it in Soft Sky and punched it out with the Extra Large Oval Punch. Stampin’ Dimensionals hold all of the elements to the card. I think that the sewn Bakers Twine adds so much along with the silver safety pins. A fun card to welcome in a new little one!

Pals Paper Arts 200

I know I say it every week, but boy am I happy that it’s Friday! There are rumors that we may get out of work early today. Let’s hope that holds true! It was cold and windy here again yesterday, I’d like to know where spring has gone. Tonight I’m supposed to go out to dinner with Anthony and Bill, we’ll probably do Friday’s because I have about 386 points on my Stripes card, which I think equates to all of us eating for free. LOL! I hope you enjoyed yesterday’s snippet of Satellite Lane. As soon as they get the edited video back from the videographer, I will post the link to that. What kind of plans do you all have to get your weekend started? Today’s post is a special one. It is the 200th Pals Paper Arts challenge! Woo-hoo! This week, the Pals have given us a sketch with a twist…

I got my April Paper Pumpkin Kit in the mail yesterday which I’m sure you have all seen since Stampin’ Up! posted the early video of it. That’s what I used for my greeting on today’s card. The base of the card is Real Red Card Stock and my two panels are both pieces of paper from the Fresh Prints Designer Series Paper Stack and both of them are backed with Whisper White. The top panel is adhered with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the bottom panel is adhered with SNAIL. Like I said, my greeting comes from this month’s Paper Pumpkin and is heat embossed in White Stampin’ Emboss Powder. I cut it out with the Circles Collection Framelits and that too is adhered to the panel with Stampin’ Dimensionals. It needed a little something more, so I used the Itty Bitty Shapes Punch Pack and some Whisper White to punch out some flowers and gave them a little extra pop by sticking a rhinestone in the center of each one. I used the Stampin’ Pierce Mat and the Paper-Piercing Tool to shape the flowers and give them a nice three-dimensional look. As you can see, I’ve accepted both the sketch and the monochromatic challenge, which by the way, was the twist! I’ve been on a bit of a heat embossing kick lately, I’m just really liking the way it looks. The Photopolymer Stamps make a nice, crisp image, too. Mojo 340

It was another very nice day here again yesterday. The temperature got up into the low 60’s and the sun was out all day. After that Winter I’m really appreciating the nice weather! Work was busy but I did get to take a field trip to one of my favorite places, the Apple Store. I had to pick up an iMac for the COO. After work I went to my parents for dinner and my brother, his wife and little Daniel were there. He really is just the cutest, happiest little guy. He has a great smile and laughs all the time. Taylor was there too and she got a tattoo for her birthday of Zero from the Nightmare Before Christmas, her favorite movie. After, I came home and crafted for a bit and attempted to get my stuff together for my taxes, it just dawned on me that I only have 5 days left! LOL!

My post for today is for this week’s Mojo Monday sketch from Julee Tilman…

I decided that I wanted to make a card that only used Photopolymer Stamps. The new ones in the last two Paper Pumpkin kits are Photopolymer so I included them too! I also wanted to use some different colors. My card starts off with a base of Daffodil Delight Card Stock and the background is a piece of Chocolate Chip. My tilted panel is Very Vanilla and the chevron stamp is from last month’s Paper Pumpkin kit. I stamped it in Rich Razzleberry, Melon Mambo and Tangerine Tango on opposite sides of the top and bottom. A piece of Daffodil Delight 1/4″ Stitched Grosgrain Ribbon is adhered around the back and then I adhered the panel to the card base with SNAIL. The three circles are from the February Paper Pumpkin kit and are also stamped in Rich Razzleberry, Melon Mambo and Tangerine Tango. I cut the large circle out with the Circles Collection Framelits, I originally used the 1 3/4″ Circle Punch but there was a white border around the circle that just didn’t fit with the look of the card. The other two circles are punched out with the 1 3/8″ and 1″ Circle Punches. The greeting is from the Show and Tell 2 Photopolymer Stamp Set and is stamped in Chocolate Chip on a piece of Daffodil Delight which I flagged the right side of before adhering it and the circles to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. A Brights Collection Designer Button adhered to the ribbon with a Mini Glue Dot finishes off the card. I really like the retro feel of the card which I attribute to the colors. Often times I take color inspiration from a DSP, but I was proud of myself for coming up with a funky color combination! Retro Scallop Garden Thanks

Wow! Sunday already?! Time is just chugging along! LOL! I had a nice day yesterday, I got some projects finished in the morning and then headed into Manhattan with Anthony and Bill to see Harmony Sweepstakes at the Miller Theater at Columbia University. We had a great time and it was sold out! Andrew and his group Satellite Lane won Audience Favorite for the second year in a row! They also won for best choreography! Congratulations to them on two well deserved wins! We hit up the diner after and I had some pancakes, haven’t had those in a while! I did manage to snap two quick pictures, the first one is of the outside of the theater…

And here is of one of the statues that stands outside a set of gates next to the theater. If you click on the picture and look he has six toes, I thought that was interesting!

Every so often when I’m working on a project I stop for a bit and make a just for fun card. I know, it’s odd that when you are working on craft projects that you would stop and make another one to take a break but that’s what I do! Today’s card is one of those.

The card uses a base of Whisper White Card Stock and I covered the entire front with a piece of Kaleidoscope Designer Series Paper. Two strips of Retro Fresh Designer Washi Tape go across the bottom. The tag is made using the Scallop Tag topper Punch. I trimmed the sides off to get a thinner tag and stamped the tag with one of the Paper Pumpkin Stamps in Gumball Green. The flower and leaves are from the Secret Garden Stamp Set and are both cut out with the Secret Garden Framelits. The leaves are stamped in Gumball Green and the Flower is heat embossed with White Stampin’ Emboss Powder on Daffodil Delight and sponged with some White Craft Ink. My greeting is from the Oh, Hello Stamp Set and is heat embossed in Tangerine Tango on a piece of Vellum Card Stock and adhered just under the flower. The tag has some White Bakers Twine on the top and Stampin’ Dimensionals adhere it to the card. I really am having fun with Vellum lately, it adds so much to a card. I also like the subtle background with the bold colors. I hope you enjoyed today’s just for fun card! Pals Paper Arts 195

I had a nice Saturday and hope that you did too! I watched the munchkins in the morning for a little bit while Kim went to kickboxing. Isabella and Savannah are two of the most well behaved little girls. Izzy loves to color and play on her iPad and Savannah is content to sit in her bed and watch Frozen and bounce on her pillow. I hung out with Kim for a bit when she got back and we watched Zedd’s iTunes SXSW performance. I do love all kinds of music and his EDM (Electronic Dance Music) is great! After I went and got a much needed haircut, came home and crafted for a bit and then went over to my friend Louis’ parents house to see his sister and her two little boys. We had some pizza for dinner and I came home and started on my organization plan. A busy but great day! This morning I’m off to Manhattan for a bit, it’s supposed to be in the 30’s so I should be able to wander for a bit. 🙂

For my post today I have my card for this week’s Pals Paper Arts challenge and this time it’s a color challenge…

Some nice Spring colors need some butterflies don’t you think?! My card base is Whisper White Card Stock. I stamped the greeting from the Perfect Pennants Stamp Set in Rose Red right on the base. A piece of Wild Wasabi is cut out with the Hexagon Hive Thinlits Die and some of the bottom is trimmed off. The So Saffron hexagons in the hive are created with my Stamp-a-ma-jig and the Geometrical Stamp Set. Three tickets from the That’s the Ticket Stamp Set are stamped in Rose Red on So Saffron and punched out with the Ticket Duo Builder Punch and a mini staple holds them together. My butterflies are stamped with one of the stamps from a Paper Pumpkin Set in Rose Red on Rose Red and punched out with the Bitty Butterfly Punch. Three Basic Jewels Pearls make the bodies and Stampin’ Dimensionals adhere them to the card. A nice simple spring card, lets hope that it hurries the warmer weather along! Yeah! Thursday! One more day to go until… FRIDAY! It snowed here yesterday morning but thankfully it didn’t amount to anything. We are supposed to get another storm on Sunday night, fingers crossed that it’s not snow and rain instead! I had a nice day yesterday. The best part was doing my Stampin’ Up! Webinar last night. It was the same one that I did at Leadership, Pinteresting. Thank you to all of you that joined in and if you missed it it will we posted sometime next week on the Demonstrator site. I also want to thank Katie Adams and Brian Pilling for their assistance last night. You guys are awesome! 🙂

Today’s post is for this week’s Mojo Monday sketch challenge. I love it when they mix it up and this week is one of those weeks that they did just that. Julee Tilman has given us this tall skinny sketch…

This was one of those times that I knew exactly what I was going to do when I saw the sketch! My card starts off with a base of Whisper White Card Stock and the background consists of four layers. The top one is just a simple piece of Sahara Sand. The bottom three are Crisp Cantaloupe, Pool Party and Pistachio Pudding. I used my Fringe Scissors on each piece and overlapped them. My tag is created with the Scallop Tag Topper Punch and some Sweet Sorbet Designer Series Paper backed with a piece of Whisper White to make it a little more sturdy. I tied a piece of twine from the Sweet Sorbet Accessory Pack throughout the top of the tag and mounted it to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. The bird is from the Natures’s Hello Host(ess) Stamp Set and is stamped in Pool Party and cut out with the Backyard Basics Framelits. Behind him is a piece of Pistachio Pudding that I stamped with one of the stamps form this month’s Paper Pumpkin Kit in Pistachio Pudding and punched out with the 1 3/4″ Circle Punch. Behind that is a piece of Summer Starfruit that is punched out with the 2 3/8″ Scallop Circle Punch. I adhered it to the tag and done! I really do like the stamps in the Nature’s Hello Stamp Set, they are neat because they have the greeting inside the image. Hopefully the Fringe Scissors with be back in stock soon, they are so much fun! Thank you very much for stopping by to see my Mojo Monday card for this week’s sketch challenge. Mojo 331

Oh, I think I forget to tell you it was snowing yesterday morning when I got up. The best part, it snowed all day. We got about eight inches and we are supposed to get some more tomorrow night and then again over the weekend. I guess the winter isn’t finished just yet. Yesterday’s snow was the heavy wet kind, if I have to deal with snow I would rather the powdery kind. I have so much experience with it this year! Who knew there were so many choices?! LOL! I will say one thing for snow, we did get out of work early again today! You know it’s bad when I would rather be at work than deal with the snow! Here is a little picture I took last night, that’s a lot of snow!

Now on to the fun stuff! Today I have my card for this week’s Mojo Monday sketch challenge. This week our sketch is provided by Julee Tilman…

When I saw the sketch I saw the opportunity for a little collage style! The base of my card is Crumb Cake Card Stock. For the first layer of the background I used a piece of Real Red. My banner is a piece of paper from the Fresh Prints Designer Series Paper Stack that I cut out with the Banners Framelits Dies. I also cut out a piece of Whisper White to back it with so it would be a little sturdier when I adhered it to the base with Stampin’ Dimensionals. I slid a piece of Red Glimmer Paper behind it on an angle. My piece of Crumb Cake is stamped with one of the Paper Pumpkin stamps in Crumb Cake and then I rounded the corners with the 3/16″ Corner Rounder. My greeting is from the Just Sayin’ Stamp Set and is stamped in Coastal Cabana and cut out with the Word Bubbles Framelits Dies. Another piece of Red Glimmer Paper is cut out with the Hearts Collection Framelits Dies. My two little speech bubbles are from last month’s Paper Pumpkin and are stamped in Real Red and Coastal Cabana and cut out with my Paper Snips. Are you impressed that I remembered to use Coastal Cabana?! LOL! I really like the subtle collage and the colors, well we know I’m liking those! I had a very quiet uneventful day yesterday, which is nice for a change. I went and let the dogs out in the morning, got my haircut and then crafted for a good part of the day. I went back last night and let dogs out again, came home and just relaxed. It’s nice to have a quiet day but today needs to make up for it! LOL!

Today’s post is for this month’s Catherine & Cathy Create Monthly Challenge. This month we ask you to make a “‘Tis the Season” Christmas themed project. My card starts off with a base of Whisper White Card Stock. I embossed a piece of Crisp Cantaloupe with the Perfect Polkadots Textured Impressions Embossing Folder for my background. A piece of Silver Glimmer paper is cut out with the Festive Flurry Framelits Dies and adhered to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. The image is from the Warmth and Wonder Host(ess) Stamp Set and is stamped in Pistachio Pudding and Crisp Cantaloupe, lined up perfectly with my Stamp-a-ma-jig. I cut it out with the Circles Collection Framelits Dies and also a piece of Pistachio Pudding to back it. The greeting is from last month’s Paper Pumpkin and is stamped in Crisp Cantaloupe and backed with Pistachio Pudding. Both the image and greeting are also adhered with Stampin’ Dimensionals. I really like the glimmer snowflake as a backdrop for the image and the color combo is definitely a non-traditional one which I love! Pals Paper Arts 179 x 2!

Happy Saturday! Wow, am I glad that week is over! It was super busy at work but I did manage to get some stuff done today… whew! It’s supposed to rain today, tomorrow and Monday on and off but it will be warmer so I’m ok with that. I did get some fun news this week that I have been waiting to share with you but I can’t hold it in any longer! I have been asked to do a  presentation at Leadership in Houston Texas in January!! How cool is that?! I’m really excited about it and a little nervous but I’ll feel better once I get my presentation together. Hopefully I will see some of you there! 🙂

Today I have not one but two cards for this week’s Pals Paper Arts color challenge. Thanks to Cindy for choosing me for her pick last week! You can see my original post here and the Pals post here. This week they have given us these colors to work with…

It took me a little while to get going on what I was going to do. As I mentioned I ended up making two cards because I wasn’t thrilled with the first one. My first card used a piece of Eastern Elegance Designer Series Paper to cover the whole front of a card base of Whisper White Card Stock. The main panel is a piece of Rich Razzleberry behind a piece of Crumb Cake that I adhered a piece of Rich Razzleberry that I cut out with the Lattice Bigz Die. The butterflies are from the Beautiful Butterflies Bigz Die, one is Vellum Card Stock that I embossed with the Perfect Polkadots Textured Impressions Embossing Folder and the other is a piece of Crushed Curry that I stamped in Crushed Curry with one of the Paper Pumpkin Stamps. My greeting is from the Happy Day Stamp Set and is stamped in Rich Razzleberry, the ends are flagged and behind it is a piece of Rich Razzleberry that I also embossed with the Perfect Polkadots Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. A few Basic Jewels Pearls on the butterfly complete the card. I don’t hunk I have ever covered the whole card front with DSP before but I like it!

My second card starts off with a base of Crumb Cake Card Stock. I created the background by stamping the Positively Chevron Background Stamp in Crushed Curry on Crushed Curry. My flag is a piece of Rich Razzleberry that I punched out the left side with the Chevron Border Punch. Some Crumb Cake pieces also punched out with the Chevron Border Punch are adhered along the right. The Crumb Cake flag is stamped with one of the Paper Pumpkin Stamps in Crumb Cake and all of the pieces are mounted to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. My greeting is from the A Dozen Thoughts Stamp Set and is stamped in Rich Razzleberry right on the background. Now that is one card that’s full of chevrons!
