Freshly Made Sketches 110

CORRECTION One of my readers, Mary, was kind enough to point out that I used the wrong name for the Stamp Set and Framelits. It should be Backyard Basics not Secret Garden. Thank you Mary! Time to stop typing my post after midnight! 🙂

Hello there peeps! How is it going? Me, well… like I said yesterday work is insanely busy. We have a conference tomorrow and all of the last minute stuff needs to be done today. What that really means is that everything needs to be done today! I did have another nice quiet evening at home last night. I sat at my craft desk and puttered around. It was very productive too, I got three cards made. Love it when that happens!

Today have my card for this week’s Freshly Made Sketches. This week our sketch is provided by the talented Rita…

I really like the fact that it has symmetry but is off just a little. The base of my card is So Saffron Card Stock and the background is a piece of Very Vanilla that I embossed with the Honeycomb Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. The three bees are from the Backyard Basics Stamp Set ~~Secret Garden Stamp Set~~ and are stamped in Jet Black Staz-On and cut out with the coordinating Backyard Basics Framelits Dies ~~Secret Garden Framelits Dies~~. I punched a piece of So Saffron out with the Hexagon Punch and the bees and hexagon are adhered to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. The greeting is from one of the Paper Pumpkin Kits and is cut out with the Itty Bitty Banners Framelits Dies. I threaded some Linen Thread through one of the Subtles Designer Buttons and adhered it with a Mini Glue Dot to complete the card. I love the softness of the So Saffron with the Very Vanilla and the bees are just neat! I appreciate you stopping by to see my card for this week’s Freshly Made Sketches challenge from Rita. Double Header Monday!

I had a lovely day in Manhattan yesterday. It was a little on the cool side but the speed at which I walk warms me up quite quickly! LOL! I do try to remember to take a picture of anything that I see that strikes me as fun. My friend Isabella told me about this new little shop that opened up on Lexington Avenue called Tinsel. She said it had all kinds of neat things inside and she was right. I took a picture of the storefront, you can see a sampling of some of the goodies along with the reflection of a NYC Taxi. It’s hard to take a picture in NY without getting a Taxi in it! You can just see the sign TINSEL Covered with antique glass glitter in the window…

It was a really fun shop and they had so many neat goodies, But I behaved! Maybe next time! 😛

So you see from the title of today’s post it’s a double! I realized last night that I hadn’t gotten my Pals Paper Arts card in and it closes today. Where does the week go?! I always post my Paper Players card on Monday so I decided to give you a two fer!

First up is my Pals Paper Arts card for this week’s sketch challenge. A thank you to the very talented Brian for choosing my card as his pick for last week’s color challenge. You can see my original post here and the Pals Paper Arts post here. Now for this week’s sketch…

An interesting sketch don’t you agree?! I pondered for a while and finally the idea started to form, scary little place my brain is! LOL! The base of my card is Bermuda Bay Card Stock. The top panel is a piece of Sahara Sand that I stamped with the Dictionary Background Stamp in Bermuda Bay. To mix it up a little my diagonal is a piece of Vellum Card Stock with some Brushed Gold behind each side. Some Stampin’ Dimensionals adhere it to the card. The three butterflies were created using a piece of Sahara Sand and little concoction that I mixed up. I took one of my Stampin’ Spritzers and put 18 drops of Bermuda Bay Stampin’ Ink Refill and some of the “Vintage” Champagne Mist Shimmer Paint. I topped it off with some rubbing alcohol and spritzed the Sahara Sand. My Bitty Butterfly Punch set them free from the card stock and some more Stampin’ Dimensionals hold them in place. Across the bottom is another piece of Brushed Gold that I embossed with the Delicate Designs Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. My greeting is from one of the Paper Pumpkin Sets and is heat embossed with Gold Stampin’ Emboss Powder on Bermuda Bay and is backed with more Brushed Gold. I really love the Bermuda Bay with the Gold, it has a rich Tiffany look and the sparkly butterflies are fun too! And that takes care of my Pals Paper Arts card for this week’s sketch challenge.

Now on to my Paper Players card for this week’s theme challenge. LeAnne has asked us to make a CAS Masculine card…

I didn’t want to use dark colors, that’s the “traditional” masculine card, I wanted bright! The base of my card is Soft Suede Card Stock. I took a piece of Whisper White and stamped it in Coastal Cabana with the World Map Background Stamp. The scalloped strip of Coastal Cabana on the left is cut out with the Tasteful Trim Bigz XL Die and a strip of Champagne Glimmer Paper is on top. The nautical images are from the The Open Sea Stamp Set (which is actually one of the first sets I purchased!) and are stamped in Soft Suede. The ship is cut out with my Paper Snips and the compass is punched out with the 1 1/4″ Circle Punch. I choose the greeting from the Make a Wish Stamp Set and they are all adhered with Stampin’ Dimensionals. I personally would love to get a card like this for my birthday and I did a survey and the result was the same! LOL! I love the World Map Background Stamp and the Open Sea is still a favorite! Mojo 311

Happy Tuesday! I forgot that I have a four day week this week because I’m going on a little trip on Thursday night. I’ll tell you more about it on Friday! I’m quite excited about it! It is definitely feeling fall like here, windy and rainy yesterday morning but it cleared up in the afternoon and it’s 48 degrees this morning. Lot’s of catch up before I leave too. So much to do and so little time, isn’t that how it always works?!?!

Today I have my card for this week’s Mojo Monday sketch challenge and the sketch this week is provided by Julee Tilman…

I just received this month’s Paper Pumpkin in the mail today and I love it as always. I was inspired by the card and decided to used the stamps and the color ink pad today. The base of my card is Crumb Cake Card Stock. A piece of Epic Day This & That Designer Series Paper with a piece of Midnight Muse that I punched with the Scallop Edge Border Punch along with a strip and a circle of Silver Glimmer Paper creates the backdrop. The greeting is stamped on a piece of Whisper White that I punched along the top with the Envelope Punch Board to create the file folder look. A strip of Pool Party and a piece of 1/8″ Silver Ribbon goes across the bottom. I used the Chevron Border Punch to punch out some Midnight Muse for the three chevrons on the left. I really do think that the Paper Pumpkin Kits are fun and I love all of the stamps that come with them. Freshly Made Sketches 100 & Just Add Ink 179

A good Sunday to you all! My Saturday didn’t turn out quite the way I had envisioned. I had breakfast with my friend Joe and that was very nice. I came home and started working on some projects and then my friend from work texted me to say that she couldn’t go to Manhattan. Bummer! I decided that it was way too nice of a day so I called my friend Louis and we went for a ride in the convertible and did some shopping. After, we had some gyros for dinner and they were delicious! So not a bad day after all. I will have to postpone my reviews for another time. LOL!

Today I have a double post, I don’t know where the week goes sometimes! It’s Freshly Made Sketches 100th Challenge! How great is that?!?! I have been playing along since sketch 38, so that 62 sketches! Pretty cool! For the 100th challenge they brought back the sketch from their very first one…

I went for a retro feel to my card with some new products to sort of pay tribute to the sketch. The base of my card is Midnight Muse Card Stock and the background is a piece of paper from the Season of Style Designer Series Paper Stack. I used the Delicate Details Textured Impressions Embossing Folder to emboss a piece of Crumb Cake to go across the lower half of the card. The tilted panel is a piece of Midnight Muse, embossed with the Perfect Polkadots Textured Impressions Embossing Folder and backed with a piece of Crisp Cantaloupe. For the greeting I used the new Cheers Single Stamp, again stamped in Midnight Muse and backed with Crisp Cantaloupe. I flagged a little piece of Midnight Muse to go across the top that mirrors the stamped part of the bottom of the greeting. An ornament from the Christmas Collectibles Stamp Set that I inked in Crisp Cantaloupe and punched out with the Christmas Ornament Punch completes the card. I really like the Midnight Muse and Crisp Cantaloupe paired with the Crumb Cake, I think it makes and interesting combo!

My second card today is for the ladies over at Just Add Ink! I thought the sketch was really cool and perfect for the Rev Up the Fun! Stamp Set…

My card base for this card is Whisper White Card Stock. The background is a piece of Smokey Slate stamped with some Gorgeous Grunge in Pacific Point, I rounded the corners with the 1″ Circle Punch. All of the images and greeting are from the Rev Up the Fun! Stamp Set except for the flag that is stamped with one of the Paper Pumpkin Stamps. The tire marks and dust are stamped in Basic Black and the car in Pacific Point. For the greeting I used some Versa-Mark and White Stampin’ Emboss Powder. The Ovals Collection Framelits Dies are used to cut it out and some Stampin’ Dimensionals adhere it to the card. The images from the stamp set are fun and help to make a great masculine card that would work for any age.

Create with Connie and Mary & Display Stamper 7

Good Morning from the Hamptons! I had a nice day yesterday apart from the intense traffic. It took a long time to get out her but it’s well worth the trip. You can just hear the ocean from the house that I’m staying in, so peaceful and calming. I spent some time with friends last night and had an impromptu BBQ. It’s nice to get away, even if just for a bit. I hope that your weekend is off to a good start too!

Today’s post is for this week’s Create with Connie and Mary Color Challenge…

Some of my current favorite colors are in there! The base of my card is Smokey Slate Card Stock and the background is a piece of Bermuda Bay that is embossed with the Honeycomb Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. I stamped one of the stamps from the July Paper Pumpkin in Bermuda Bay and Smokey Slate on some Whisper White and punched it out with the Hexagon Punch. Some Stampin’ Dimensionals adhere them to a piece of Basic Black. The greeting is from the Yippee-Skippee Stamp Set and is stamped in Bermuda Bay on a piece of Smokey Slate that I cut out with the Chalk Talk Framelits Dies. I cut out some more of the hexagon shapes with my Paper Snips and they too are adhered with Stampin’ Dimensionals. I really do love the color combination and the stamps that came with last month’s Paper Pumpkin and pretty neat! Double Header and More Convention Pics!

Ahh, I feel much better now that I have had a full nights sleep! How are all of you doing today? Is everyone home safely from Convention? I had to make some projects yesterday, four days without crafting is way too long for me! Today I have two cards for you but before I get to those here are a few more pictures from 2013 Convention!

Like I said before I have two cards for you today. I wanted to get my Freshly Made Sketches card and Create with Connie and Mary card in before it was too late! First up we have my Freshly Made Sketches card. This week the sketch is provided by Narelle…

The base of the card is Basic Black Card Stock. All of the Designer Series Paper, the frame and the sentiment on the frame are from a Paper Pumpkin Kit. I love this kit because of the frames and the colors. The people in the picture are Me, Wendy Weixler and Brian King. The camera image is form the Around the World Stamp Set and is stamped in Summer Starfruit, I used the 1 1/4″ Circle Punch to punch it out. A little Pool Party flag tucked behind it completes the card. It’s definitely a fun way to add a photo to a card and show that the Paper Pumpkin kits can be used for much more than what they are intended!

Next up we have my card for the Create with Connie and Mary color/sketch challenge…

I used the colors and some elements from the sketch for my card. The base is Baked Brown Sugar Card Stock. I used the Oval Accent Bigz Clear Die to cut out a piece of Venetian Romance Designer Series Paper. A piece of Crisp Cantaloupe is cut out with the Deco Labels Collection Framelits Dies and embossed with the Pretty Print Textured Impressions Embossing Folder*. The leaves are made using the Circles Collection Framelits Dies and a piece of Pistachio Pudding. A piece of Calypso Coral and Baked Brown Sugar are flagged and slipped underneath. The image is a stamp that Shannon West designed and was given out as a Prize Patrol gift. I cut it out with the Floral Frames Collection Framelits Dies. I thought the stamp was a great way to use one of the personalized stamps instead of just with a name and address. I also love the way that the Pretty Print Folder goes with the DSP. SUO Challenges 74

Hello, yesterday wasn’t too bad for a Monday. It was gloomy here as it has been for quite a while. It rains and then pours and then stops. I would like another day like Saturday, sunny and nice, soon please! How is everything by you? Hope it’s all good!

Today’s post is my card for the SUO Challenges Design Team. This time around we were asked to use our favorite accessory. I have two actually, I love Punches and Framelits! The idea for today’s card came from one that I saw in a magazine. I love to see if I can CASE a card using my Stampin’ Up! goodies. Who doesn’t like a challenge?! There are a lot of products on this card so here we go!

The base of the card is Crumb Cake Card Stock and for the background I used a piece of paper from the Subtles Collection Designer Series Paper Pack. The frame is a piece of Vanilla Coaster Board that I cut the bottom with the Labels Collection Framelits and the inside of the frame with the Squares Collection Framelits. I stamped it in Soft Sky with the Dictionary Background Stamp and adhered it to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. In the middle we have a piece of Soft Sky that is stamped with the Gorgeous Grunge Stamp Set and the center is cut out with the Apothecary Accents Framelits Dies. A piece of Very Vanilla is stamped with the Woodgrain Background Stamp and punched out with the Decorative Label Punch, the middle is punched out with the Large Oval Punch. The tag is punched out with the Ticket Builder Duo Punch and stamped with this month’s Paper Pumpkin Stamp. A piece of Linen Thread is tied in a bow and also threaded through the two Naturals Designer Buttons. The butterfly that is punched out with the Elegant Butterfly Punch is stamped with the Travel Journal Builder Wheel and the Bitty Butterfly Punch is used to punch out a piece of Baked Brown Sugar. For the greeting I used the Pennant Parade Stamp Set, the 1 1/4″ Circle Punch and a piece of Blushing Bride that is cut out with the Delicate Doilies Large Sizzlit. Across the bottom I stamped an image from the Creative Elements Stamp Set in Baked Brown Sugar. Finally, a “Vintage” Binder Clip is clipped to the top of the label. Phew! Like I said a lot of products but I love the fun random collage look of the card and the subtle mix of colors is different! Paper Players #142 :-)

Good day everyone. Sunday, I love you because you are part of the weekend but you also mean that the weekend is almost over. Sigh. Anyway, how is your weekend so far? Mine is pretty good. It was relatively nice here yesterday, got a haircut, had some lunch, had some 16 Handles! I also got some crafting done which always makes me happy! It’s Sunday so that means it’s Paper Players time!

Today’s post – Paper Players #142, a CAS single layer card from Jaydee…

A single layer card can be fun, but also challenging. It really is nice to just use some stamps and ink to create a card, but embellishments are fun too. There are ways to give it a little depth as I did on my card. The base of the card is Whisper White. The images are from the Oh, Hello! Stamp Set. The Thanks is stamped once in Crumb Cake and again in Midnight Muse to give it a shadow effect. The Stamp-a-ma-jig makes it easy to do. The water spots are from the first Paper Pumpkin Kit and are stamped off once. CAS and only one layer! Woo hoo! The color renovation has been announced! I’m so happy that they have kept four of the five 2011-2013 In-Colors! I’m a little sad to see that Lucky Limeade didn’t make the cut but we also got some former In-Colors back too! Bermuda Bay, Soft Sky, Crushed Curry, Pear Pizzaz and Blushing Bride along with a new color Smokey Shadow. They have also moved some colors to different families and of course they are retiring some colors. Say so long to Regal Rose, Pretty in Pink, Bashful Blue, Certainly Celery, Baja Breeze, Riding Hood Red, Bravo Burgundy, Not Quite Navy, More Mustard and River Rock. Change is a good thing!
