Technically it’s Thursday today! LOL! Well, Tuesday but no work on Thursday and Friday so we’ll say it’s Thursday! Yesterday was a quiet day at the office and the rest of my department had a charity event last night so they left at 2:30. When I got home I had some dinner and made my card for today. I had a few errands to run so I went and picked up Heather and we headed over to Target. The rest of the evening was spent relaxing for a bit. I was debating on whether or not I was going to work on Friday and I think that I will skip it! Are you all ready for your Thanksgiving festivities? I just have to show up at the parents house! Oh, I do have to take my friend Chantal to the airport on Thursday, she’s off to Paris for a bit to see her family. I’m a little jealous! My friend Michael is on a roll with another post today! He used Glossy Accents (Crystal Effects) to make a funky ornament and necklace. Click HERE to take a look!

My card for today is for this week’s Mojo Monday sketch challenge..

    Mojo373

Yay! Tall & Skinny! I took my unusual color combo from the Designer Series Paper! The card base is Cherry Cobbler Card Stock and the background is Crisp Cantaloupe. I used a piece of Trim the Tree Designer Series Paper for my angled piece across the card. Next up is a piece of Garden Green that I heat embossed some snowflakes from the Endless Wishes Photopolymer Stamp Set in White Stampin’ Emboss Powder on. It’s backed with some Cherry Cobbler and adhered to the card with SNAIL. My image and greeting are from the Making Spirits Bright Stamp Set and is stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black. I used Prismacolor Pencils to color in the image and backed it with another piece of Cherry Cobbler. A few 2013-2015 In-Color Sequins are adhered with Crystal Effects and then I adhered the image to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. I wasn’t too sure about the colors but in the end I really like them together! I hope that you enjoyed today’s card for this week’s Mojo Monday sketch challenge. Thanks for taking some time to come by and see me today! I hope that you have a fun Tuesday! 🙂

I had a semi-productive Saturday. I began organizing some of the stuff in the Stampin’ Galley and then went out and ran some errands with Heather. I realized around 4:30 that I hadn’t eaten when Andrew texted me to see if we were having dinner. He came over around 7 and we went to Five Guys for some burgers. After, we went to let his friend’s dog out and came back to the house and watched The Da Vinci Code. I am trying to expand Andrew’s horizons as far as movies go. LOL! Thankfully, he said he enjoyed it. I’m off to Manhattan now for a little while to see my friend Kim. What are you up to today?

The card I have for you today is for this weeks Pals Paper Arts sketch challenge…

    PPA 228

I started today’s card off with a base of Cherry Cobbler Card Stock. The background is a piece of Smoky Slate embossed with the Northern Flurry Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. For the panel, I used the Lawn Fawn Small Stitched Rectangles to cut out a piece of Soft Sky. I stamped the tree in Garden Green and heat embossed the snowflakes with White Stampin’ Emboss Powder. The house is from the Holiday Home Photopolymer Stamp Set and is stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black. I used Smoky Slate and Cherry Cobbler Stampin’ Blendabilities Markers to color in the door and roof. The lights are stamped in Garden Green and the house is cut out with the Homemade Holiday Framelits and adhered to the panel with SNAIL. The greeting is from the Project Life December Wonder Photopolymer Stamp Set, is stamped in Garden Green and cut out with the banner from the Gift Card Envelope and Trims Thinlits. A few Stampin’ Dimensionals adhere it to the panel and that finishes the card. Another simple holiday card, but again, I really love the stitching detail on those stitched rectangles. I hope you enjoyed my card for this weeks Pals Paper Arts sketch challenge. I thank you very much for coming by to visit with me today and I hope you all have a good Sunday! 🙂

  • Fab Friday 55

Yay! It’s Friday and next week is a short week! Yesterday was a little warmer and not as windy and even though it’s going to rain on Monday I’m looking forward to temps in the 60’s! Work was the norm yesterday and when I got home little Daniel was there for dinner. He just runs all over the place now, so cute. I went over to Heather’s last night for a little wine night with Stephanie and Andrew, that was fun! I’ll be in Manhattan on Sunday and I’m going to try an attempt to get my house cleaned on Saturday. What’s on for the weekend for you?

What makes Friday even better? It’s time for another Fab Friday challenge and this time around we have a sketch…

    Fab Fri 55 11-21-2014

I have been really into the blues again for my Holiday cards and I also stayed pretty true to the sketch. My card base is Island Indigo Card Stock. I embossed a piece of Brushed Silver Metallic Card Stock with the Decorative Dots Textured Impressions Embossing Folder and adhered it towards the top of the base. A piece of Pool Party 1/4″ Cotton Ribbon is adhered around the back across the bottom of the Silver with Sticky Strip. My snowflake is from the “Vintage” Festive Flurry Stamp Set and is heat embossed on Vellum in Pool Party Stampin’ Emboss Powder and cut out with the Festive Flurry Framelits. In the middle is a Silver Basic Metal Button with some “Vintage” Pool Party Baker’s Twine tied in a bow. I adhered the button to the snowflake with a Glue Dot and the snowflake to the card with a Stampin’ Dimensional. My greeting is from the Watercolor Winter Too Photopolymer Stamp Set and is stamped in Island Indigo and cut out with one of the dies from the Circle Card Thinlits. Some more Stampin’ Dimensionals hold that in place. A nice simple card, again not too difficult to duplicate. I hope that you enjoyed my card for the Fab Friday sketch challenge. Don’t forget to pay a little visit to the blog and see what the rest of the Design Team has done with the sketch and take a minute to enter your card too! Thanks you for coming by to visit with me and I wish you all a Fantastic Friday! 🙂

  • Control Freaks November Blog Tour

    freakwelcome2013

Hello my friends! It was chilly here again today but get this, it’s supposed to go up to 69 degrees on Monday! Even stranger, they have gotten 6-8 feet of snow in upstate NY! Thank god that wasn’t here! Phew! Well, guess what?! It’s time for this month’s Control Freaks Blog Tour! We are featuring Christmas/Holiday projects to get you all inspired to make you Holiday cards and decorations! If you are following along with the tour you have arrived here from the very talented Debbie Henderson! She is just so clever, right?! This month I have two cards for you, one simple and one a little more complicated but nice and sparkly!

For my first card I have a nice simple card that I dressed up with some heat embossing. The card base is Early Espresso Card Stock. My center panel is Crumb Cake and I used the Tree Punch to punch out two negatives from the lower half. Another tree is punched out from a piece of Garden Green and I heat embossed the ornaments from the Festival of Trees Photopolymer Stamp Set in White Stampin’ Emboss Powder. My greeting is from the Watercolor Winter Trio Photopolymer Stamp Set and is heat embossed in Early Espresso Stampin’ Emboss Powder. The star image is also from the Festival of Trees Set and is heat embossed in White Stampin’ Emboss Powder. I adhered a piece of paper from the Trim the Tree Designer Series Paper Stack to the base before adhering the Crumb Cake Panel over it with Stampin’ Dimensionals. The punched out tree is also adhered with Stampin’ Dimensionals. A nice fun rustic feeling card that would be pretty easy to duplicate.

Control Freaks November Blog Tour - Card 2-WM

My second card has lots of sparkle! The base for this one is Smoky Slate Card Stock and my background is a piece of Lost Lagoon. I punched out a bunch of circles with the 1/2″, 3/4″, 1″, 1 1/4″ and 1 3/4″ Circle Punches from Vellum Card Stock. Using some strategically placed Multi-Purpose Glue I adhered them to the base randomly. I then adhered some Frosted Sequins to cover the glue behind the Vellum with Crystal Effects. My Joy is from the Wondrous Wreath Framelits and is cut out from a piece of Silver Glimmer Paper. I used little slivers of Stampin’ Dimensionals to adhere it to the card. I was going for a bit of a Bokeh look, you’ll have to let me know what you think! Was I successful?!

Control Freaks November Blog Tour - Card 1-WM

And there are my two Holiday cards for this month’s Control Freaks Blog Tour! I hope that you enjoyed them both and are inspired to either finish (way better than me!) or start (that’s more like it) your Holiday cards! Now it’s time to continue on with the tour and next up is the incredibly clever Patty Bennett! You’ll love what she has for you, I always do! Thank you for stopping by and I hope that you have a great Thursday! 🙂

  • SUO Challenges 110

Just as I suspected my inbox was full yesterday morning at work. I did manage to get through it though so we are ready for another fun filled day today! It was rainy and gloomy here all day today, sort of like my mood as of late. I was reading through the comments yesterday and I want to thank you all. Yes, I love to share my creativity with you but I also share a lot about my life and that is one of the most important parts of this blog to me. The connection that I have with so many of you. You are there with words of encouragement and support and that means so much to me. We have shared a lot with each other and I look forward to it each day as I hope that you continue to as well. That being said I am hoping that what is affecting me will work itself out. I have to have faith that it will, that’s enough of the somberness for now. I do have a fun little bit of information to share, I have over 40,000 followers on Pinterst! WHAT?! I still can’t believe it. So if you don’t follow me head on over and do. It’s jrk912. 🙂

Today I’m over on the SUO Challenges blog for our Marker Fun challenge. I wanted to do something other than color with them so this is what I came up with. The base for today’s card is a piece of Elegant Eggplant Card Stock. I cut a piece of Watercolor Paper to 4″ x 5 1/4″ for my background. All of the images are from the Project Life December Wonder Photopolymer Stamp Set from the 2014 Holiday Supplement Catalog. The snowflakes are heat embossed in White Stampin’ Emboss Powder. To add the color to the background I took the second largest Clear Block E and used my Elegant Eggplant and Night of Navy Stampin’ Write Markers to color the block with stripes of alternating color. and a little spray of water from my Stampin’ Spritzer so they would absorb into the Watercolor Paper easier. I left the block on the table and pressed the Watercolor Paper into it, lifted it off and misted the block again and repeated the process. After I lifted it up the second time I was happy with the results. I stamped the greeting on Watercolor Paper too in Elegant Eggplant and Night of Navy and used the Project Life Cards & Labels Framelits to cut it out. It’s adhered to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals and some Basic Jewels Rhinestones are adhered over the dots. I backed the paper with a piece of Night of Navy and used Stampin’ Dimensionals to pop it up off the base. A few Frosted Sequins adhered to the centers of the snowflakes with Crystal Effects finish the card. I love the way the colors turned out on the Watercolor Paper, it almost gives a windy feel to it. I really hope that you enjoyed my card for the SUO Challenges Marker Fun challenge. Be sure and stop by the blog to see what the rest of the design team have done and enter your card in the gallery so we can see your take on the challenge. As always, I appreciate your visit and hope that you have a very nice Tuesday! 🙂

  • Freshly Made Sketches 162

Ahh… today is my Friday! I’m off from work tomorrow and am going to try and catch up on some things. Michael also goes home tomorrow and will be missed. I’m so glad that I got to spend time with him and get to know him. He’s a great person and I look forward to him coming back again soon. Yesterday was another decent day but it’s chilly this morning. It is supposed to be colder over the weekend too. I went to Friday’s for dinner with Heather last night and then came home and crafted and relaxed a bit. Not bad for a Wednesday.

The card that I have for you today is for this week’s Freshly Made Sketches challenge…

    Freshly Made Sketches 162

Yes, this was another one of those cards that I knew pretty much what I was going to do when I saw the sketch. My card base is a piece of Whisper White Card Stock and for my background I embossed a piece of Basic Black with the Lucky Stars Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. I cut two pieces of Smoky Slate and stamped the skyline from the Calling All Heroes Photopolymer Stamp Set in Memento Tuxedo Black on the bottom of them both. I adhered one of them to the background and wrapped some Basic Black Baker’s Twine around it three times and tied one of the Silver Basic Metal Buttons on and adhered the background to the base. On the top panel I stamped the Santa and sleigh form the Holiday Home Photopolymer Stamp Set and the greeting from the Endless Wishes Photopolymer Stamp Set both in Memento Tuxedo Black and adhered the panel to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. A few Sparkling Clear Sequins scattered around the night sky complete the card. I know what you are thinking, black and gray for a Christmas card… but I really do love the colors and images. I hope that you enjoyed my card for this week’s Freshly Made Sketches challenge and that you are inspired to try something completely different for a Holiday card. Thanks very much for stopping by and I hope that you all have a Terrific Thursday! 🙂

I’m still not used to the fact that it’s getting darker earlier. It also doesn’t help that it’s dark when I wake up too! The weather here has been pretty nice, not too cold and sunny, maybe we can keep this for the whole winter?! Work was pretty standard yesterday and when I got home I made my card and then planned my much needed cleanup of the craft area. I have been pretty busy and most of my organization has gone to the wayside. I need to get on top of it before I start forgetting that I have stuff! Do you ever find yourself doing that? You are out looking at stuff and think “oh, I really like that, I think I’ll get it” only to get home and find that you already have it?!?! I guess one good thing about that is if you bought it twice you must have really liked it! LOL!

Before we get to today’s post here are the weekly deals from Stampin’ Up!:

    Weekly Deals 11-11-2014 SM

My card for today is for this week’s Mojo Monday sketch from Julee Tilman…

    Mojo371

I wanted to use some of the stuff that I have gotten recently before I forget where I put it, that’s where the wood comes in! My card starts with a base of Early Espresso Card Stock and the background is a piece of Crumb Cake. I used a piece of paper from the Trim the Tree Designer Series Paper Stack backed with some Early Espresso for my first panel. The second one is a piece of wood sheet that I picked up on my travels on Saturday, it’s also backed with Early Espresso because it’s very thin and it makes the grain stand out a bit more. Across the lower half is a piece of Gold 1/8″ Ribbon tucked behind the Crumb Cake. I used the Circles Collection Framelits to cut out a piece of Vellum and stamped the JOY from the Project Life December Wonder Photopolymer Stamp Set in Versa-Mark and heat embossed it in Cherry Cobbler. The tree is from the Festival of Trees Photopolymer Stamp Set and is stamped in Garden Green on Crumb Cake and punched out with the Tree Punch. The balls are heat embossed in Cherry Cobbler and I used a Sakura Gelly Roll Gold Pen to go over the lines. A few Stampin’ Dimensionals behind the tree adhere it and the Vellum circle to the card. We all know that I love a little woodgrain so the wood sheet is definitely my favorite part of the card! The other great thing about them is that are thin enough to use with punches or Framelits! Ahhh… the possibilities! I hope that you enjoyed my Holiday card for this week’s Mojo Monday sketch challenge. I love having you stop by to share in my days and I wish you all a terrific Tuesday! 🙂

  • Paper Players 221

I had such nice weekend and it seemed like a long weekend too! Yesterday I was in Manhattan most of the day visiting friends. I even got to have dinner at the diner with Kim. It was a relatively nice day too weather wise. On my way home I stopped at Target to pick up a few things and then crafted for a bit before I decided that I needed to try and catch up on some of my sleep. How was your weekend? What were you guys up to?

It’s Monday and that means it’s time for this week’s Paper Players challenge. This week my friend Sandy has given us a color challenge…

    Paper Players #221

I did see a Holiday card when I looked at them but my friend Danielle needs a congratulations card for her mom who just got a promotion at work so I went with some flowers. The card base for today’s card is Crumb Cake Card Stock. I used the Hexagon Hive Thinlit to cut out a piece of Very Vanilla for my background and adhered it to the base with 2-Way Glue. All of the stamps are from the Flower Patch Photopolymer Stamp Set. The flowers are stamped in Cherry Cobbler and the leaves in Mossy Meadow. I cut them all out with the Flower Fair Framelits including the flower middles. My leaves are adhered to the card with SNAIL and the flowers with Stampin’ Dimensionals. I used some more 2-Way Glue to adhere the centers and brushed them with some Wink of Stella Glimmer Pen to give them a little sparkle (which you can’t see in the picture). The greeting is heat embossed in Cherry Cobbler and cut out with the Project Life Cards & Labels Framelits. I used my Cherry Cobbler Stampin’ Write Marker around the edge to give it a little definition and adhered it to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals too. A nice simple card to let someone know how great you think they are. I hope that you enjoyed my card for this week’s Paper Players color challenge from Sandy. I appreciate your stopping by today and I wish you all a great start to your week! 🙂

  • Silver Falling Snow

Hello my peeps! What’s going on by you? I had a very nice day in Connecticut yesterday with my friends Michael and Sue. We went up to the garage sale at Papercraft Clubhouse in Westbrook. So many stamps, paper and accessories to dig though and we all found some treasures. There was even a table with all Stampin’ Up! sets and accessories. We spent quite a while there and even got to speak to the owner Tracie who was very sweet. I took a picture of this cool purple house which turned out to be another stamp store called Beautiful Impressions Too.

    Beautiful Impressions Yoo

On the way home we stopped at Hobby Lobby and JoAnn’s. I got some more goodies (not that I needed any more! LOL) and so did everyone else! All in all a very fun day indeed!

Today I have a card that was inspired by one I saw on Pinterest. The card begins with a base of Cherry Cobbler Card Stock. I heat embossed the sentiment from the Letterpress Winter Photopolymer Stamp Set in Silver Stampin’ Emboss Powder. For my panel I stamped the tree branch from the “Vintage” Take Care Stamp Set in Crumb Cake and Sahara Sand randomly on a piece of Naturals White Card Stock. My falling snow is created using a stencil from Simon Says Stamp and some embossing paste. I mounted the panel to a piece of Brushed Silver Metallic Card Stock (at the suggestion of Michael) and adhered it to the card with SNAIL. The two snowflakes are from the Snowflake Card Thinlit and are cut out from Silver Glimmer Paper and adhered to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. I love the simplicity of the card and the subtle falling snow created with the embossing paste. I hope that enjoyed my wintry Holiday card for today. Thank you for sharing in my days and I hope that you all have a great Sunday! 🙂

  • Pals Paper Arts 226

Happy Saturday peeps! I had a nice day yesterday. Danielle and I had an errand to run for work and were out for about three hours. We also had to stop at Panera to get some gift cards so we had lunch there. I had the Autumn Squash soup and it was delicious! I also had a nice road trip last night to New Jersey. Michael had a class to teach at Paper Anthology and had taken the train so I offered to go out and get him. The traffic was pretty heavy on the way there but it wasn’t a bad ride. The store was really neat, it was in an old house and had a great selection of all different kinds of goodies. If you ever find yourself in Kenvil New Jersey definitely stop by. You can check out their web site HERE and visit Michael’s blog HERE. This morning I’m off to Connecticut with Michael and Sue for a little visit to two stamp stores. And yes, I’m typing this on the car! LOL!

My card that I have for you today is for this week’s Pals Paper Arts color challenge…

    PPA 226

Very fall appropriate colors, so I went with Christmas! LOL! The card base is Cajun Craze and the background is a piece of Very Vanilla that I embossed with the Woodgrain Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. Yes, I can’t get enough of woodgrain anything! I used the Scalloped Tag Topper Punch and the Project Life Corner Rounder to create my tag from a piece of Soft Suede. A piece of Color Me Autumn Designer Washi Tape is wrapped around the bottom of the tag and a piece of Mossy Meadow, Striped Satin Ribbon tied with some Linen Thread goes through the top. My tree is from the Festival of Tress Photopolymer Stamp Set and is stamped in Mossy Meadow on Very Vanilla and punched out with the Tree Punch. The greeting is from the Project Life December Wonder Photopolymer Stamp Set and is also stamped in Mossy Meadow and punched out with the 1″ Circle Punch. My tree and the greeting are adhered with Stampin’ Dimensionals and so is the tag to the card. A nice clean somewhat traditional Holiday card that would be pretty easy to duplicate. I hope that you enjoyed my card for this week’s Pals Paper Arts color challenge. Thanks for coming along on my road trip this morning too and have a wonderful Saturday! 🙂
