Paper Players 213 & Pics!

Yup, there goes the weekend just flying by as always! I did have a very nice weekend though so I can’t complain. Yesterday I went into Manhattan and met my friend Kim for breakfast. We went to our usual spot, the diner but we had belgian waffles for a change. After breakfast we headed over to the West Side to go to a flea market on 77th and Broadway. While we were wandering around we saw Bernadette Peters in one of the jewelry stalls. It’s so funny when you see a celebrity in the city randomly. After we were done there we walked back to Kim’s apartment and I stopped by my friend Julia’s house before heading home. It was little crisp yesterday morning when I left around 7:45, I had to wear a sweat jacket. It’s too early for that!! I did mange to snap a few pictures in my travels which by the way was a nice 8 miles in total for the day! The first picture I took on our way through Central Park. It’s Belvedere Castle, I think that it’s a neat little castle and there is a visitors center inside along with all sorts of scientific instruments that collect weather data.

Next up is a picture of one of the exhibits located in the Rose Center for Earth and Space that is in the American Museum of Natural History. It’s called Scales of the Universe and has scale models of the planets amongst other things. I took the picture though because I thought it was really neat how the reflection of the buildings and the trees show up so clearly.

Finally I have a picture of the Great Lawn during the day. I did take one at night a few months ago. I love that you see the park and then the buildings rise up in the distance!

I’m not ready to admit that fall is on it’s way just yet but I do love the colors. The base for today’s card is Baked Brown Sugar Card Stock and on top of that is a piece of Blackberry Bliss. My background is a piece of Very Vanilla and I stamped my greeting in Always Artichoke from the For All Things Stamp Set. The pumpkin and leaves are from the Fall Fest Photopolymer Stamp Set and are stamped in Blackberry Bliss, Baked Brown Sugar, Always Artichoke and Cajun Craze. I used the Fun Fall Framelits to cut them out. The pumpkin and base layer of leaves are adhered with SNAIL and some more of the leaves with Stampin’ Dimensionals. I love the leaves in all of the colors and the fact that there are Framelits for them is great! I hope that you enjoyed my card for this week’s Paper Players color challenge. SUO Challenges 105

I made the best of my Monday, like I said no point in dwelling on the negative! Work just keeps getting crazier but it is what is. I just keep telling myself that it all gets better once it going home time! I made my escape and went to my parents for dinner. My little man Daniel was there cute as ever. His mom was feeding him and makes the cutest faces when he gets something that he doesn’t really like! But he still eats it and makes the face ever time! LOL! After dinner I went over to Sandy’s house for card class. It’s always a laugh and I’m usually the jokester! When I got home Taylor had stopped by and gave me some more props for my pictures, Christmas stuff which I needed. I made some coffee and sat down at the computer to catch up on comments and emails. Then I get caught up looking at stuff on-line and before I know it it’s midnight!

The post that I have for you today is for the SUO Challenges blog. The rest of the Design Team and I have created projects for this challenge which is Embellishments! What do you think that I used?! My card begins with a base of Blackberry Bliss Card Stock and my background is a piece of Pistachio Pudding, although in the pictures it looks a bit Coastal, that I adhered to the base with Stampin’ Dimensionals! I used the Striped Scalloped Thinlit to cut out some Gold Foil Sheet and adhered it to the lower half of the card with Multi-Purpose Glue. A piece of Gold Baker’s Twine helps break up the transition to the plain card stock. My tree is from the Festival of Trees Photopolymer Stamp Set and is stamped in Mossy Meadow on Pistachio Pudding. I heat embossed the ornaments in Gold Stampin’ Emboss Powder and punched the tree out with the Tree Punch. To back it I cut out a piece of Blackberry Bliss with the Chalk Talk Framelits and stamped a stamp from the “Vintage” Jolly Old Saint Nick Stamp Set in Encore Gold Metallic Ink. The tree and the tag are adhered to each other and the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. My greeting is from the Good Greetings Host Stamp Set and is stamped in Mossy Meadow up in top left corner. Three 2013-2015 In-Color Sequins are randomly adhered with Multi-Purpose Glue on the top right. Yes, I did use some sequins, shocking huh?! LOL! Paper Players 212

Again, the weekend was just too quick. I did have a nice one but still not long enough. Yesterday I spent some time being crafty, never a bad thing. I went over to see Kim and the munchkins for lunch and we got caught up which is always nice! I did have little bit of an issue yesterday with what we thought was my blog. Andrew text me to say that when he was looking at my post from yesterday he saw that certain words were highlighted and if he clicked on them he got a warning about a suspected phishing site. After some panic and research we found out that it was something that was actually on his computer in the browser. We found instructions on how to remove it and it wasn’t easy but we got it done in the end. So if you ever come across this issue on any web site you visit know that there is a good possibility that there might be something wrong with your computer. Why people can’t just leave the internet be is just beyond me! LOL!

While it’s Monday and I’m not happy about that I am happy that it’s time for another Paper Players challenge. This week we have a Happy Fall Y’all theme from Ann…

I don’t really want to think about cooler weather and sweaters and jackets but I guess it inevitable! My card for today begins with a base of Soft Suede Card Stock. The background is a piece of the Motley Monsters Designer Series Paper. There are some really neat patterns in that pack, I’m really loving this woodgrain one! I stamped my wreath from the Wondrous Wreath Photopolymer Stamp Set in Hello Honey and Soft Suede, the Wonderful Wreath Framelits cut it out. To back it I cut a piece of Tangelo Twist out with the Window Frames Collection Framelits and used the Festive Paper-Piercing Pack to pierce around the edge. In the middle I adhered a piece of Always Artichoke that I punched out with the 1 3/4″ Circle Punch. My pumpkin is from the Fall Fest Photopolymer Stamp Set and is stamped in Tangelo Twist and cut out with the Fun Fall Framelits. Stampin’ Dimensionals adhere all of the pieces to the card. I wanted a little more color so I stamped the leaves from the Fall Fest Photopolymer Stamp Set in Always Artichoke and used the Fun Fall Framelits again to cut them out. They are tucked under the wreath and adhered with SNAIL. My greeting is from the For All Thing Stamp Set and is stamped in Soft Suede on Tangelo Twist and cut out with the Bitty Banners Framelits. Two more Stampin’ Dimensionals hold that in place. I’m loving the Wondrous Wreath in the fall colors and the woodgrain DSP from the Motley Monsters pack is just great! And there is my card for this week’s Paper Players theme challenge from Ann! I hope that you enjoyed it and that we can keep fall at bay for as long as possible! LOL! Creation Station Tour – Tags and Letters

Hello everyone! The Unite and Excite event was lots of fun! I got to see some of my friends and make new ones, too! We went to Bertucci’s for lunch afterwards and had a great time. When I got home, Andrew came by and we ran to the Apple Store to get his phone fixed. Spent some time at the house and then had Panera for dinner. Aside from the muggy and rainy weather, I’d say yesterday was a pretty good day! Here is a picture of me and Donna from the event!

Today it’s time for the Creation Station Blog Tour! I’m hoping that you have been along for our previous ones! If this is your first time here, welcome and I hope that you find inspiration in the projects. This time around we are featuring the alphabet stamps and tags. If you are following the tour you have arrived here from Deborah Smart’s blog, clever projects, don’t you think?! I have three cards for you today. Without further ado…

My first card is a very simple and quite masculine card. It begins with a base of Basic Black Card Stock and my background is a piece of paper from the Typeset Specialty Designer Series Paper Pack. I was pleasantly surprised when I realized that the “tag” stamp from the Bits and Pieces Stamp Set fit perfectly inside the Note Tag Punch. It is stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black Ink on Very Vanilla. I sponged some Crumb Cake on the edges and punched a hole in the top with the 1/8″ Circle Punch. A piece of Basic Black Baker’s Twine goes through the hole and some Crystal Effects hold it exactly where I want it. My greeting is from the And Many More Stamp Set and is stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black and cut out with the Bitty Banners Framelits. Some more sponging and a Silver Basic Metal Button is adhered with a Mini Glue Dot. Stampin’ Dimensionals hold the tag and the greeting to the card. A very monochromatic and masculine card.

Creation Station Blog Tour 9 - Card 1-WM

For my second card I did a holiday card. The card begins with a base of Cherry Cobbler Card Stock. For the background I stamped the snowflakes from the Endless Wishes Photopolymer Set in Versa-Mark and heat embossed them with White Stampin’ Emboss Powder on Mossy Meadow Card Stock. My tags are punched out with the Note Tag Punch from Kraft Card Stock. I used the Little Letters Thinlits to cut out the word “JOY” from the tags and backed them with Cherry Cobbler with Stampin’ Dimensionals in between.

Some Cherry Cobbler Baker’s Twine is thread through the tops of the tags and they are adhered to the card with SNAIL. A thin strip of Champagne Glimmer Paper goes across the bottom and finishes off the card with a little sparkle. I know it’s unlike me to make a holiday card using traditional holiday colors, but I figured once in a while, I must conform to the norm. LOL!

Creation Station Blog Tour 9 - Card 2-WM

My last card is a card I have been wanting to make for a while. It starts off with a base of Pool Party Card Stock. I used the Little Letters Thinlits to cut out two rows of letters, A-F and G-L, from a piece of Basic Black and backed the “H” and “I” with Real Red Card Stock. That panel is mounted to another panel of Basic Black using Stampin’ Dimensionals and is then adhered to the card with SNAIL. Two 1/8″ strips of Real Red go across the top and bottom and are adhered with 2-Way Glue. I like the color combination and I think the pop of red makes the “HI” really stand in the spotlight among the other letters. LOL!

It makes me feel very creative when I use the same theme for three projects, and they all come out looking so different! Mojo 361

Those three day weekends always just fly by, not quite as fast as the two day ones but quick none the less! I did have a very nice weekend and hope that all of you did too. Since yesterday was an “extra” day I did some things around the house, ran some errands and got caught up on a few projects. A well rounded day I think! I did also start working on my mixed media project, I’m pretty happy with the way it’s coming along. I could spend the whole day in the Stampin’ Galley and be quite content! I have been on a Holiday card kick lately, I know, it’s a little early but I’m having so much fun with the goodies in the Holiday Catalog I just can’t help it! Today’s card is for this week’s Mojo Monday sketch…

When I looked at the sketch I knew what colors and stamp set I wanted to use, I just had to figure out how it would all come together. My card starts off with a base of Mossy Meadow Card Stock and the background is just a simple piece of Whisper White. The panel to the left is a piece of paper from the Subtles Designer Series Paper Pack. Next up is a thin strip of Silver Glimmer Paper that goes just below the center across. All of the images and greetings are from the Letterpress Winter Photopolymer Stamp Set. The panel on the right is Mossy Meadow and I heat embossed the image in Pool Party Stampin’ Emboss Powder. The circle consist of a piece of Mossy Meadow under a piece of Vellum Card Stock, both cut out with the Circles Collection Framelits, with another one of the images again heat embossed in Pool Party on the Vellum. The greeting is heat embossed with White Stampin’ Emboss Powder and punched out with the 1 1/4″ Circle Punch. My flagged greeting is also Vellum and heat embossed with White Stampin’ Emboss Powder. I love the Pool Party and the Mossy Meadow together, such a fun combination. I also love all of the heat embossing, it gives the card such nice texture and shine! And that’s my card for this week’s Mojo Monday sketch challenge. I hope that you enjoyed it and will forgive my abundance of early Holiday cards! Thanks for the visit, as always! Freshly Made Sketches 151

It’s so nice when Sunday rolls around and you realize that tomorrow is not a work Monday! Wee! I had a lovely day yesterday, I took the advice of a friend and sat outside with my coffee and laptop and relaxed and enjoyed the outdoors in the morning. Around 12:30 Sandy stopped by and we had some lunch. She brought a yummy Italian hero with her from a deli near her house. After lunch we headed to the Animal Shelter in Babylon to see if they had any news about her cat Oreo. He went missing at the beginning of August, but we still hope that he will turn up. The lady at the shelter told us that her cat was gone for a year! She said that she thinks that he was on vacation in the Hamptons! LOL! I hope that Oreo does come back. After the shelter we stopped at a scrapbook store and had nice chat with the lady that worked there. She asked if I we might be interested in teaching card classes, now that would be fun! I’ll keep you posted as to what becomes of that. I ran to Michaels when I got home and picked up some supplies, I want to start working on multimedia projects, I’ll keep you posted on them too! For dinner, I met my friend Maureen at Friday’s and then we ran to Walmart. Not an overly exciting day but I enjoyed it!

Freshly Made Sketches #151

I sort of took a little creative license with the sketch, I have wanted to use a new stamp set that I got and this seemed to work for it! My card begins with a base of Daffodil Delight Card Stock. The background is a piece of Sahara Sand that I embossed with my favorite, the Woodgrain Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. I sponged on some Soft Suede to make the grain stand out. All of the images are from the Yee Haw! Photopolymer Stamp Set, and yes they are all cut out with my Paper Snips, including the barb wire! I stamped them all in Memento Tuxedo Black and colored them in with my Smoky Slate, Crumb Cake and Daffodil Delight Stampin’ Blendabilities Markers. The barb wire is stamped on Smoky Slate. The lasso with the greeting are adhered to the card with SNAIL and all of the other elements are adhered with Stampin’ Dimensionals. I really like the Yee Haw! Stamp Set, so many fun western images and I think it goes perfect with the Woodgrain EF! I hope that you enjoyed my card for this week’s Freshly Made Sketches challenge. Fab Friday 49

Hi everyone! It’s Friday!! You know how I feel about my Friday! I get to run some errands at work today too! It’s going to be a great Friday! Yesterday was as good as I made it! LOL! I came home and saw little Daniel for a bit. He just wants to go go go! I think that he will be walking in no time. He is so cute I can’t stand it! Last night was very good, it was Hunger Games – Catching Fire movie night with Andrew. I knew that he wouldn’t like the ending, it kind of leaves you hanging and he likes to have closure. But he had to see the movie and he did really like it! I told him only a few months until part one of the third book comes out. I will have to make sure that if we watch a series they are all available on iTunes from now on! I said it’s something to look forward to and now I’m guaranteed that we will see that one in the theater! 🙂

Good news! It’s a Fab Friday challenge day too! This time around we have a sketch for you…

Fab Fri 49 8-29-2014

Fun and simple, I stayed really true to the sketch too! My card base for today’s card is Sahara Sand Card Stock and across the bottom is a strip of Crushed Curry that I embossed with the Woodgrain Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. The two flagged strips are Basic Black and Tangerine Tango. I wrapped a piece of Basic Black Baker’s Twine around the card and tied it in a bow on the left side. The main panel is a piece of the Motley Monsters Designer Series Paper backed with a piece of Basic Gray. My three happy little pumpkins are from the Fall Fest Photopolymer Stamp Set and are stamped in Tangerine Tango and Memento Tuxedo Black. The Fun Fall Framelits cut them out and some Stampin’ Dimensionals adhere them to the card. After I put the card together I realized that I forgot a greeting! Thankfully the Holiday Home Photopolymer Stamp Set made it easy for me to stamp the greeting on the panel even though it was already adhered to the card! A fun fall card and the pumpkins are just the cutest aren’t they?! There is my Design Team card for this week’s Fab Friday sketch challenge and I hope that you enjoyed it! SUO Challenges 104

So yes, that was definitely a Monday! Work was silly busy and I didn’t get all that I wanted to get accomplished done. Days like that happen and you just have to roll with them! I did go over and see the girls last night. Heather, Kim and I hung out on the bed and chatted and watched TV, I felt like a kid again! LOL! The little ones were we’ll behaved being entertained by their iPad. It really is amazing at how well little children use technology, it second nature to them! It never ceases to amaze me!

Today my post is for the SUO Challenges Design Team and this time we have a Clean & Simple theme. I kept my card very clean and simple. The base of my card is Pistachio Pudding Card Stock. I took a piece of Whisper White and stamped two of the tree steps of the wreath from the Wondrous Wreath Photopolymer Stamp Set* in Crisp Cantaloupe and Pistachio Pudding. The leaves that I stamped in Pistachio over the Cantaloupe turned a slightly darker shade of Cantaloupe. I fought that was sort of a neat effect. My greeting is from the Christmas Bliss Photopolymer Stamp Set and is also stamped in Pistachio Pudding. I adhered the stamped panel to the base and added a few Pistachio sequins from the 2013-2015 In-Color Sequin Assortment. Sometime you just need a quick, simple, mailable card and this one definitely fits the bill. I think I will make some more of these in different colors for some of my holiday cards! Wonderful Wisteria Lagoon Wreath and Manhattan!

Well the rain held out all day yesterday and I had a lovely day in Manhattan! I got in around 8:10am and parked on 90th. For my walk over to the West Side through Central Park I popped in my headphones, it makes me walk faster which if you know anyone that has walked with me in the city is way too fast! LOL! I stopped along the Reservoir and snapped a few pictures. You can see how overcast it was but the sun did peek out a few times. You also don’t realize how big the Reservoir is until you walk around it! It looks more like a lake!

Pretty huge huh?! Much to Kim’s dismay I got to her around 8:45 instead of my estimated 10:00! LOL! I’m early for everything and she knows this but still doesn’t appreciate it! We had some coffee and then I realized that I forgot my wallet in my car. I have an aversion to wallets for some unknown reason and I tend to leave it in my backpack or car. I used to leave it at home but Andrew fixed that for me! Kim suggested that we walk back over and have breakfast at the diner that way I could get my wallet, sounded great to me so we did just that! After breakfast we wandered around and passed by this new cupcake shop called Sprinkles. From across the street we noticed that they had a Cupcake ATM!! WHAT!! Needless to say we ran over to it and I had to give it a try! You can see from the pictures my silly excitement at the prospect of a little door opening and revealing a delicious treat!!

It was Red Velvet and it was DELICIOUS! I split it with Kim and she agreed that it was quite tasty! We will be visiting the Cupcake ATM again don’t worry about that! LOL!

Now on to the crafty part of the post. I was running through card ideas in my head on the way home and I thought that Wisteria Wonder and Lost Lagoon might look nice together so I gave it a try! My card base for today is Whisper White Card Stock. The background is a piece of Lost Lagoon and I heat embossed the sentiment from the Wondrous Wreath Photopolymer Stamp Set* with Silver Stampin’ Emboss Powder. My smoky Slate piece is cut on the bottom with the Ovals Collection Framelits for an interesting curve. The wreath is also from the Wondrous Wreath Photopolymer Stamp Set* and is stamped in Wisteria Wonder and Lost Lagoon. I heat embossed the bow with more Silver Stampin’ Emboss Powder and used the Wonderful Wreath Framelits* to cut them out. Some Stampin’ Dimensionals hold them to the card and a few of the Frosted Sequins* are adhered around the wreath with Multi-Purpose Glue. I actually really love the colors together and as many of you know I’m not a red and green holiday type of guy! I also like using the Oval to cut away part of the panel, odd but sort of cool! Paper Craft Crew 106

Hey there readers! It’s Thursday and I’m hoping that my happy Wednesday carries over! LOL! I had a nice day at work yesterday because I got to run errands in the morning! I went to the Apple Store to pick up a MacBook that was dropped off for repairs, then off to Michaels to get some poster frames, I had to stop at the post office to mail out my Control Freaks swaps and see my friend. I’m glad that you enjoyed the Control Freaks Tour yesterday. I always have a lot of fun making my projects and then like I always say the best part is reading your comments! It really does make all of the effort well worth it! I’m going to sneak into the city on Saturday morning to see my friend Kim and pay a little visit to Sam Flax. I am feeling to need to use my Filofax Organiser again! Ahh… the good old days of my trusty paper organizer! I guess my addiction to paper is getting worse! LOL!

I’m a day late with my card for this week’s Paper Craft Crew sketch, I was a kind of tired Tuesday night that I haven’t felt before! I guess 8 hours of sleep in three days will do that! LOL! But I have it for you today and here is the sketch…

I played around with some more new Holiday Catalog goodies! You only have one more week to wait to get your new stuff! My card uses a piece of Mossy Meadow Card Stock for the base. The background is a piece of Whisper White that I embossed with the On Point Textured Impressions Embossing Folder*. My main panel is stamped with the tree and garland from the Festival of Trees Photopolymer Stamp Set*, the tree is stamped in Mossy Meadow and the garland is heat embossed with Silver Stampin’ Emboss Powder. I backed it with Mossy Meadow. The panel behind it is a piece of paper from the Trim the Tree Designer Series Paper Stack backed with a piece of Cherry Cobbler. The panels are adhered to each other with SNAIL and to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. I used the Star Framelits to cut out a piece of Silver Glimmer Paper and adhered that to the bottom right of the panels. My greeting is also from the Festival of Trees Photopolymer Stamp Set* and is heat embossed in White Stampin’ Emboss Powder on a strip of Cherry Cobbler. Three enamel dots to the left of the panels completes the card. A simple fun traditional Christmas card with a little sparkle from the star and garland!
