Jason’s Birthday Card

Today’s the day! I’m off to the airport in a little while to head down to Orlando for a week! Andrew will be taking me. It will be nice to be somewhere a little warmer! My trip into Manhattan was nice yesterday morning. I met the girls for breakfast at the diner and then we just went back to Kim’s apartment and sat around and laughed! I got back home around 3:00 and started to work on the rest of my projects that I needed to get finished. Last night I realized that I didn’t have a suitcase with wheels on it that worked so I went to BJ’s and picked one up. I stopped in at Michaels to see Taylor and then came home and packed. Now all of you keep your fingers crossed that everything goes smoothly at the airport. We remember what happened the last time that I flew jetBlue right?!?! I’m sure that it will be a nice smooth day!

As promised today I’m sharing that card that I made for my brother for his birthday. It’s a nice simple masculine card and I even managed to sneak on some ribbon! The card base is Lost Lagoon Card Stock and the background is a piece of paper from the Adventure Bound Designer Series Paper Stack. I used the Banners Framelits to cut out another piece of Lost Lagoon to serve as the backing for my main panel. I used the Guy Greetings Photopolymer Stamp Set to stamp the car and the greeting in Memento Tuxedo Black on a piece of Soft Suede. Before I adhered the panel to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals I flagged a piece of the 7/8″ Natural Cotton Ribbon and adhered it to the banner with Fast Fuse. A nice simple masculine birthday card wouldn’t you agree?! I hope that you like the card as much as my brother did. Thanks for stopping by and I’ll speak to you tomorrow from Florida! 🙂

Pals Paper Arts 237

So, yesterday at work was my last day in that department. When I get back from vacation I start a new job as a Project Manager for a software program that keeps all of the agencies records. It’s bittersweet because I really liked the people that I worked with but this a is a new adventure and change is always good right?! My old department took me out to lunch and it was really nice. I will miss them for sure. Last night I had a class at the Scrapbook store for my friend Renee. It was so much fun! There were 18 people and we made four cards and a tag. What a lovely bunch of people! Here are a few pictures…

Lots of fun and a nice way to spend a Friday night! You can visit the Scrap-A-Latte blog here! I’m off to Manhattan for a bit this morning to go see my friend Kim and her sister Angie and their friend Dawn. I haven’t been to Manhattan for a while and I’m looking forward to some breakfast at the diner! 😀

Now on to today’s card which is for this week’s Pals Paper Arts sketch challenge…

PPA 237

Nice and simple! My card base is Mossy Meadow Card Stock and the background is a piece of paper from the Birthday Bash Specialty Designer Series Paper. It’s a little hard to see in the picture but some of those cool watercolor balloons are actually gold foil! Great DSP! I took a piece of Night of Navy and used the Simon Says Stamp Circle Border Die to create the perforated panel along the bottom. My greeting is from the Crazy About You Photopolymer Stamp Set and is heat embossed in White Stampin’ Emboss Powder on Bermuda Bay. Some Stampin’ Dimensionals adhere the panel and the greeting to the card. Not too complicated and the DSP is just so cool! I hope that you enjoyed my card for this week’s Pals Paper Arts sketch challenge and my pictures from the card class! Thank you so much for coming by and have a super Saturday! 🙂

Control Freaks January Blog Tour

freakwelcome2013

Hello! I hope that your week is off to a good start! I had a nice day at work and another crafty evening when I got home apart from my little Target run. Guess what?! It’s time for another Control Freaks Blog Tour! This month our theme is Love and just in time for Valentine’s day! There are lots of fun new products in the 2015 Occasions Catalog with a love theme and I hope that you get some inspiration from my projects today. If you are following along with the tour you have arrived here from my talented friend Debbie Henderson’s blog. I have two cards and a little treat holder for you this time around so let’s get to them!

The first card that I have is a fun Valentine that would work for anyone. The base of the card is Whisper White Card Stock. I took a piece of Soft Sky and used the Word Bubbles Framelits to cut out the negative in the upper right corner. I also used the dies for the clouds that are cut from more Whisper White. The greeting is from the You Plus Me Stamp Set and is stamped in Real Red, using the negative cut out for placement and my Stamp-a-ma-jig. The ballon and the bow are cut out from Real Red and Red Glimmer paper using the Balloons Framelits. I cut out the heart in the middle of the ballon and another one from Red Glimmer Paper using the Hearts Collection Framelits. The basket is stamped in Soft Suede from the Celebrate Today Photopolymer Stamp Set. A piece of Stacked With Love Designer Series Paper is adhered behind the negative heart in the ballon and the balloon and red glimmer heart are adhered with Stampin’ Dimensionals. Finally I adhered my clouds to the background and the background to the base using Stampin’ Dimensionals. I think that this card would work for just about any age, don’t you?

Control Freaks January Blog Tour Love Balloon Card-WM

My second card is a nice simple one that would work for many different occasions. It begins with a base of Sahara Sand Card Stock. I used the You Plus Me Stamp Set and repeatedly stamped the ampersand in Pool party on Pool Party for the background. A piece of Vellum Card Stock cut to the same size as the Pool Party and has one of the greetings from the same set heat embossed in Gold Stampin’ Emboss Powder. I used the Spiral Border Punch along the left side and a Mini Metallic Clothespin holds the two sheets together. Some Stampin’ Dimensionals along the back of the Pool Party piece adhere the background to the card. A simple card that would make a great birthday, thank you or Valentine!

Control Freaks January Blog Tour Sweet Notebook Paper Vellum Card-WM

My last project for today is a little treat holder. I used some Vellum Card Stock and the Curvy Keepsake Box Thinlits for the holder. I cut another piece of Vellum out with the Hearts Collection Framelits for my topper. All of the stamps are from the January Paper Pumpkin Kit and are heat embossed in Gold Stampin’ Emboss Powder. Some Gold Glimmer paper is punched out with the heart from the Itty Bitty Accents Punch Pack and adhered to the Vellum heart with Glue Dots. A Mini Metallic Clothespin is adhered to the back of the heart with Sticky Strip and holds it to the handle on the that box. I would have filled this up with some M&M’s but unfortunately I finished the bag the other day! Time to get some more!

Paper Players 228

Yes, it rained all day yesterday just like they said it would. I didn’t go anywhere except to see Daniel at my parents. My brother and his wife went to a wedding so my parents watched Daniel. He is so damn cute I can’t stand it! We gave him some stew and he loved it and then I fed him his fruit. We ran around and payed with the magnets on the fridge. He is trying to talk and he gets a little annoyed that you don’t understand what he is trying to tell you. It won’t be long now! I did manage to get a lot of crafting done yesterday. I didn’t get as much done as I had planned because I decided that I would try my hand at a mixed media project and I got lost in it. Time sure does fly when you are having fun! What were you all up to yesterday?

Today, being Monday, means that I have my card for this week’s Paper Players challenge…

Paper Players #228

A fun challenge from LeAnne! I decided that I would break out the Bravo Stamp Set and go from there. My card base for today is a piece of 12″ x 12″ Crumb Cake Card Stock that I cut to 5 1/2″ x 12″ and scored at 4″ and 8″ to make a trifold card. I used the Simon Says Stamp Stitched Rectangle Dies to cut out the window, the frame from a piece of Night of Navy and a piece of Vellum. The greeting, from the Bravo Photopolymer Stamp Set, is heat embossed in White Stampin’ Emboss Powder on the Vellum and adhered to the card behind the frame. On the panel inside I adhered a piece of Maritime Designer Series Paper. When you fold the card you can slightly see the DSP through the window. Definitely a very clean card that puts the sentiment front and center! I hope that you enjoyed my card for this week’s Paper Players challenge. It’s always good to have you stop by and I hope that you have a magnificent Monday! 🙂

Painted Stacked Love

I do love a productive Saturday! In the morning I relaxed a bit and then watched some videos on YouTube, craft videos of course! Around 10:45 I headed over to Scrap-A-Latte with Taylor to go and see Renee. She had a crop going so there were lots of people to chat with. I also got to see all of the new Catalogs that she brought back from CHA. The one thing that stands out in my mind is this really cooky crazy bird set from Tim Holtz called Bird Crazy, I will definitely be needing that one! We stopped by Michaels and Home Goods and the grabbed some Pizza and paid a little visit to AC Moore. I got a bigger watercolor paint set, I have really been into watercoloring lately, and picked up a few new props. I spent a few hours crafting and then Danielle came by so we go to the work holiday party at our CEO’s house. It’s nice to see people outside of the office, you get to experience a whole other side of them. Sometimes that can be a great thing and sometimes not, but it was a good time none the less! Today it’s supposed to rain all day so I will be spending some more quality time crafting! What better way to spend a rainy Sunday?! How about you, what are you up to today?

Here is another video from the Sam Smith concert. This song is called Latch and he usually does the acoustic version, which he starts off with, but then, well, you’ll see!

My card that I made for today’s post has a Valentine feel to it but could definitely be used for so much more. It was inspired by a card that I saw on Pinterest. I started off with a Whisper White Card Base and added a piece of Crisp Cantaloupe for the background. Some Whisper White is punched with the Ornate Tag Topper Punch for my larger tag. I stamped the lines and greeting from the Painted Petals Stamp Set in Crisp Cantaloupe and Memento Tuxedo Black. The second smaller tag is a piece of paper from the Stacked with Love DSP Stack that I punched out with the Note Tag Punch. My Silver Glimmer Paper Heart is the Sweetheart Punch and the heart from the Mini Treat Bag Thinlits combined. I punched the inside and then used the Thinlit to cut around it. Another heart is punched out with the Itty Bitty Accents Punch Pack. I heat embossed yet another heart from the You Brighten My Day Stamp Set in White Stampin’ Emboss Powder and punched that one out too. The large heart is adhered with some Multi-Purpose Glue and the smaller ones with Stampin’ Dimensionals. I tied the two tags together with some black hemp cord twine and used a silver Mini Metallic Clothespin to hold them to another piece of the Stacked with Love DSP. Some Stampin’ Dimensionals on the back then hold that to the card. I love the two tags together and that silver sliver glimmer heart (say that fast three times!)! The card would make a fun Valentine but I think that you could definitely use it for a birthday or even a thank you! I hope that you enjoyed today’s card! Thank you for stopping by to catch up and have a very crafty Sunday! 🙂

Pals Paper Arts 236

A late happy Saturday to you! I don’t know why but I just can’t seem to get up on the weekends anymore! I guess the bed was little too comfy with all of the blankets! So yesterday was a nice sunny but chilly day again. I got a lot done at work and then came home and Andrew stopped by for a bit. He’s out in the Hamptons this weekend for the Satellite Lane retreat. They rehearse and get ready for Harmony Sweeps all weekend. A little chilly for the Hamptons but maybe that help them concentrate! I went out to dinner to Friday’s with Anthony and Bill, that’s always a good time! Tonight I have a work Holiday party to go to so Danielle is going to come by here so we can go together. I’m off to Scrap-A-Latte in a bit to help Renee get ready for some classes, that will be fun! What are you up to this weekend?

As promised here is another video from the concert. This is the opening and the song is called Life Support…

My card for today is for this weeks Pals Paper Arts sketch…

PPA 236

I got my Paper Pumpkin Kit in the mail yesterday and love the stamps that came in it so I used one of them on today’s Valentine’s card. The base of the card is Whisper White Card Stock and the background is a piece of paper from the Stacked with Love Designer Series Paper stack that I adhered a piece of 1/4″ Whisper White Cotton Ribbon around the back before adhering it to the base. For my greeting I used the You Plus Me Stamp Set and heat embossed it in White Stampin’ Emboss Powder on Real Red. I used an element from the Mini Treat Bag Thinlits to cut it out. The heart on the top right is the one from the Paper Pumpkin Kit and is heat embossed in White Stampin’ Emboss Powder on Vellum and cut out with my Paper Snips. Some Stampin’ Dimensionals adhere the banner and heart to the card. I drew a few lines down from the tag and used another one of the elements from the Mini Treat Bag Thinlits to cut out three hearts from Red Glimmer Paper, they are also adhered with Stampin’ Dimensionals. Finally I sprinkled some sequins in the upper right and adhered them with Crystal Effects. I love the way the heart looks “clipped” to the side of the banner! A fun simple Valentine for your love! I hope that you enjoyed today’s card for this week’s Pals Paper Arts sketch challenge and the opening video from the concert! Thanks very much for coming by and enjoy your Saturday my friends! 🙂

Mojo 380

Another chilly day here, it did get sunny towards the afternoon though and that did warm it up a bit. Another busy day at the office as always. After dinner I helped my friend Isabella with her iPhone. Sometimes technology can be a little temperamental! Then it was off to the Stampin’ Galley for some crafty time. I had to make two cards since I have the concert tonight and didn’t think that making one when I got home at midnight would be a good idea. I used my trip into Manhattan for my inspiration for both of them. I’m so excited for the concert tonight!! I listen to Sam’s album all the time and I never get tired of it. If you have never heard him here is his cover of Whitney Houston’s How Will I Know. The way he sings the songs completely changes the feel of it. I LOVE IT!!

The video has over nine million views!! WOW!

Ok, enough about Sam now on to today’s card which is for this week’s Mojo Monday sketch challenge…

Mojo380

I wanted to play around with some new goodies and use a die that I picked up a while ago. The base of today’s card is Whisper White Card Stock. I used a piece of Basic Black to cover the entire front, I like to do that because it saves a little on paper and then you don’t have to line the card. My background is a piece of the really cool Irresistibly Yours Designer Series Paper from the Sale-A-Bration Catalog. I used a Mini Ink Blending Tool and some Night of Navy to color the paper. The stars are embossed so when you wipe it off they stay white. A strip of Silver Foil Sheet is embossed with the Lucky Stars Textured Impressions Embossing Folder and goes down the left side. On top of that is a piece of Vellum that I heat embossed the stars from the Project Life Point and Click Photopolymer Stamp Set in White Stampin’ Emboss Powder. The cityscape is a piece of Basic Black and I used a Mama Elephant die to cut it out. It’s adhered to a piece of Smoky Slate with 2-Way Glue and then to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. Up in the top right is my greeting that is from the Honeycomb Hello Stamp Set and is heat embossed in Silver Stampin’ Emboss Powder and punched out with the 3/4″ Circle Punch. I love that Designer Series Paper and the cityscape is just really cool! It works for a night out in Manhattan don’t you think?! I really hope that you enjoyed my card for this week’s Mojo Monday sketch challenge. It’s always nice to have you stop by and I hope to have lots of pictures from tonight’s concert for you tomorrow! Have a fantastic Thursday! 🙂

Paper Players 227

And that’s a wrap on another weekend! I did have a good one, always too fast but that’s the way they go. I got a lot of things accomplished today, more than I thought that I would! Love when that happens! I got some more backgrounds for cards made and some more cards finished. Went and had dinner at Brian and Kim’s, it was taco night! Yum! I also ran out to Scrap-A-Latte to drop off some projects for the store, Brian took a ride with me and all of the ladies there loved him! LOL! I came home and finished my card for today and then headed off to bed. How was your weekend?

It’s time for another Paper Players challenge. Before I get to this week’s I want to thank Joanne for choosing my card as her pick for last week’s challenge. You can see my original post here and the Paper Players post here. Now on to this week, we have a color challenge from Ann…

Paper Players #227

A fun and different color combo! I started today’s card off with a base of Whisper White Card Stock and covered the front in a piece of Crisp Cantaloupe. A piece of Lost Lagoon is cut out with the Hexagon Hive Thinlits Die and adhered to the card with some 2-Way Glue Pen. My tag is a piece of Sahara Sand and I used the Ornate Tag Topper Punch to create it. All of the stamps are from the Butterfly Basics Photopolymer Stamp Set. The leaves are stamped onto the tag with Lost Lagoon and the greeting is heat embossed in Gold Stampin’ Emboss Powder. For the butterfly I stamped him on a piece of Very Vanilla using Crisp Cantaloupe and cut him out with the Butterflies Thinlits. In the middle of the butterfly is a Naturals Designer Button with some gold thread tied in a bow. I used some Glue Dots to hold the button and the butterfly in place. A piece of 1/8″ Gold Ribbon is tied through the top and the tag is adhered to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. I really do love the colors together and that stamp set is fast becoming one of my favorites! I hope that you enjoyed my card for this week’s Paper Players color challenge. Your visits always make my day a little better so thanks for stopping by and have a as good a Monday as you can! 🙂

Best Day Gift Card

Still waiting for the warm up! It was 20 degrees here for most of the day yesterday, too cold! I did manage to get a bunch of crafting done. I played around with inks and water and made some backgrounds for upcoming cards, and a mess while I was at it! LOL! If you follow me on Instagram I posted a picture of some of the ones that I did. I snuck in a movie yesterday afternoon, I watched Lucy with Scarlett Johansson. It was ok, not the best one that I have seen lately! Last night I went out with Anthony and Bill to see our friend Shane sing again at the View. It’s nice to sit at the bar and have a drink and listen to live music. It’s also fun to people watch! LOL! I went outside for a minute and took this picture of the dock. Notice the frozen water!

Oakdale Docks Winter

I thought that the lighting was pretty cool though and you can even see across the water way in the background some lights from the houses, I think from Fire Island.

One of my projects that I worked on, actually while I was on Skype with my friend Eva again, is today’s card. The base is Whisper White Card Stock with a piece of paper from the Best Year Ever Designer Series Paper from Sale-A-Bration. I took another piece of Whisper White and used some Embossing Paste with the Tim Holtz Bubble Layering Stencil for my panel. Another piece of the Best Year Ever DSP is cut out using the Gift Card Envelope and Trim Thinlits. When I put it together I tucked the right flap in and the adhered the rest of them so it’s open on the side. I tied a piece of “Vintage” Summer Starfruit Thick Baker’s Twine around it and then adhered it to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. The greeting is from the Best Day Every Photopolymer Stamp Set, also from Sale-A-Bration, and is stamped in Soft Suede and Coastal Cabana. I punched it out with the 2″ Circle punch and used some more Stampin’ Dimensionals to hold it in place. Finally, I cut out a piece of Sahara Sand with one of the elements from the Mini Treat Bag Thinlits and adhered it across the top of the holder with 2-Way Glue. I love the way the stencil echoes the bokeh look in the Designer Series Paper and the stamp! A fun card to use to give someone a gift card for a thank you or pretty much any other occasion! I hope that you enjoyed my card for today! I thank you, as always, for coming by to visit with me and I wish you all a fun and productive (or relaxing!) Sunday! 🙂

Ahh… the weathermen, they rarely get things right do they?! It was supposed to snow this morning and then turn to rain around noon. Nope, it snowed all day, thankfully we only got about a inch but boy did it get cold! Tomorrow night it’s supposed to get down to around -10 degrees! I was speaking to my friend Andrea who lives in Colorado and she said that she sent it my way. I said thank but you really don’t have to do things like that! LOL! My office move went smoothly and I had most of it done in about 3 hours. There are still little odds and ends left in my old space but I’ll get to them tomorrow. I picked Andrew up from the Airport last night around 1:00am, his flight was delayed by a little over and hour and they had to wait for a gate for a long time. In fact they didn’t even end up at the Delta terminal! Not too bad considering that if someone sneezes on the tarmac at JFK they close the airport! I was quite happy to have him back but I think that he forgot to bring the warmer weather with him! 🙂

It’s Wednesday and that means that I’m over on the Paper Craft Crew for this week’s sketch…

PCCCS126 Sketch 12-07-2015

Fun and simple! I changed a few things around but I stuck pretty closely to it. The card base for today is Basic Black Card Stock. My background is a piece of Very Vanilla and across that bottom is some First Edition Specialty Designer Series Paper. I adhered a piece of Lost Lagoon 3/8″ Stitched Satin Ribbon around the back and slid a “Vintage” Designer Round Ribbon Slide onto it, I still love those things! My panel is also a piece of Very Vanilla and my image is from the Guy Greetings Photopolymer Stamp Set and is stamped on Memento Tuxedo Black. I backed it with some Basic Black and adhered it to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. The “World’s Greatest” and “Hats Off to You!” are also from the same set and are stamped in Lost Lagoon. The “World’s Greatest” Is cut out with my Paper Snips and the other greeting is flagged on the left. Both are adhered to the card with more Stampin’ Dimensionals. I punched out a piece of Lost Lagoon with the 3/4″ Circle Punch to back another hat from the Guy Greeting Set that I cut out with my Paper Snips and popped that up on a Stampin’ Dimensional too! I love the colors and the nice maculae feel to the card, even with the ribbon! I hope that you enjoyed my Design Team card for this week’s Paper Craft Crew sketch challenge.
