Mojo 289

Hey! That was not a bad Monday as far as Monday’s go, how was your’s? I didn’t do much else besides some crafting last night, I have a ton of projects to get finished. I did get some very exciting news yesterday though. I got an email from Stampin’ Up! letting me know that I have been selected to be a Display Stamper at the 2013 Convention! I can’t even contain my excitement! My projects up on the boards for all to see! I’m a little nervous, they will have to be great projects. Wish me luck!!

Today’s card – Mojo Monday Sketch 289…

The base of my card is Crumb Cake and the background is a piece of Daffodil Delight stamped in Daffodil Delight with the Netting Background Stamp. The paper is from the This and That Epic Day Designer Series Paper Pack. I used three different patterns. The stamped image and greeting are from the Blue Ribbon Stamp Set and are stamped in Calypso Coral and Gumball Green. A Soda Pop Top has a piece of Adhesive Cork Sheet and Large Basic Rhinestone inside. Some Basic Jewels Rhinestones and Pool Party Ruffled Ribbon finish off the card. A CASE for Monday

Happy Monday… NOT! LOL! Poor Monday always has a bad rap because it starts another work week. I had a great weekend and the weather was almost perfect. I did a little running around yesterday morning and had some lunch with Maureen. I also started to organize my craft area which has become quite large, soon the bed will have to leave! Some cards were made and then I found a 16 Handles Froyo not far from here so I alerted my peeps and off we went. My friend Kim’s two little girls are just the cutest, Izzy says my name now and I melt! I even got to see the child last night, a great way to cap off any evening. 🙂

Today’s card – A CASE – from Stampin’ Success…

I know that most of you know that us Demonstrators get this great magazine every two months (used to be every month, I miss it!) and on the front cover and inside were these great flowers and one was made into a card. I did a little CASE of the card, I did change a few things, but I really like the way it came out. The base of the card is Calypso Coral and the background is a piece of Whisper White. I sponged some Calypso Coral on the front and along the edges. Some paper-piercing is done around the perimeter and the greeting is stamped from the Blooming with Kindness Stamp Set in Soft Suede. The doily is heat embossed with Silver Stampin’ Emboss Powder and there is some Creped Filter Paper and This and That Washi Tape on there too. The flower is created using the Blossom Punch and some distressing with my Bone Folder and the Stampin’ Pierce Mat. Some leaves from the Secret Garden Framelits and a piece of 5/8″ Flower Trim in the middle. A few spots and Basic Jewels Rhinestones finish off the card. I hope you enjoyed my CASE today. Happy Saturday my peeps! It was a rainy windy day here yesterday all day. I did get to the Apple Store with my buddy Anthony and get his new iPad. We have some tweaking to do to make it perfect for him but we’ll get there. We went to this really great pizza place called Anthony’s Coal Fire Pizza. They had these coal fire oven wings with onions and no buffalo sauce. They were crispy and delicious as was the pizza. What are all of you up to this weekend. I’m off to Manhattan this morning to see some friends and maybe wander a little. I do love the city, always something new to see or do!

Today’s card – Create with Connie and Mary Sketch 247…

I knew exactly what I was going to use for the right side of the panel as soon as I saw the sketch. The base of my card is Basic Gray and the background is some This and That Epic Day Designer Series Paper. I used the “Vintage” Spiral Border Punch for the right side of the panel. A Sticker from the the Epic Day This and That Designer Stickers Pack is on the panel with some Daffodil Delight Flowers on the top and some Epic Day This and That Washi Tape behind the greeting from the A Round Array Stamp Set. Mojo 288

Hey there! How was Monday? Mine was, well to be kind, not my favorite. Work is extremely busy and it doesn’t show any signs of letting up. I am so happy when I come home and sit down at the craft desk. I get to forget about all of the misery of the day and focus on being creative. It’s the perfect end to a hectic day. When do you do your crafting? I also like to rummage through my supplies from time to time. When I do I inevitably find something that I completely forgot about. Last night was no exception. In amongst the Designer Series Paper was my Boutique Boxes Designer Kit. I think I need to spend a little time going through more and finding little surprises!

Today’s card – Mojo Monday 288 – Sketch Challenge from Sarah Bigelow…

The card base is Basic Gray and the background is Sahara Sand embossed with the Chevron Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. All of the elements are from the Boutique Boxes Designer Kit except the Epic Day This and That Designer Washi Tape. The greeting is from the coordinating A Little Greeting Stamp Set and is stamped in Basic Gray. I really am digging the feathers and the Washi Tape! Freshly Made Sketches #80

Woo hoo! The weekend is here! I did get out of work at 12:00pm despite their best efforts to thwart my escape! I came home and got my tax stuff together and did some techie stuff and then some crafty stuff. I had a very nice afternoon. This morning I’m off to Manhattan to go to the car show with Anthony, Lisa and Bill. Danielle might be there too. It should be a good time, it’s always fun to look at cars that I can’t afford! LOL!

Today I have my Freshly Made Sketches card for this week’s challenge. This week we have a super clean and simple sketch from Linda…

Yes, I have used my fave Sent with Love once again. I want to get some more use out of it before it goes away. The base of the card is Whisper White Card Stock. I used the Sent with Love Stamp Set and my Stamp-a-ma-jig to stamp the border in Real Red on Pool Party. Some Island Indigo ribbon from Sale-A-Bration is adhered around the back with Sticky Strip and a piece is knotted on the left side. I used the 1 1/4″ Circle Punch to punch out a hole in the lower right and adhered the panel to the base with Stampin’ Dimensionals. The flagged piece and the greeting are cut out from the Sent with Love Designer Series Paper. I punched the greeting out and the hole in the flagged piece with the 1 1/4″ Circle Punch and adhered them to the card with SNAIL. A super clean and simple card for a CAS sketch. It was nice to use the DSP for the focal points too for a change. I hope that you enjoyed my card for this week’s Freshly Made Sketches challenge. Thank you for your visit, it is greatly appreciated! Ahh… Friday! Today is an especially good Friday because I am getting out of work at 12:00pm. I need to do my taxes but it beats work! LOL! We are to get some rain later on but it’s supposed to warm up over the weekend. I’m off to the NY Auto Show tomorrow morning with some friends, should be fun. I haven’t been in a few years. What are you all up to this weekend? Did you enjoy the blog hop yesterday?! There were some pretty good projects, huh?!

Before we get to today’s post Stampin’ Up! had some news for us today. First there will be FREE shipping on all regular (non-expedited) orders Saturday April 6th through Monday April 8th. They have also announced their color refresh! I’m so happy that they have kept four of the five 2011-2013 In-Colors! I’m a little sad to see that Lucky Limeade didn’t make the cut but we also got some former In-Colors back too! They have also moved some colors to different families and of course they are retiring some colors. No for the card! Today I have my card for this week’s Create with Connie and Mary challenge. This week we have a color challenge…

As soon as I saw this I thought of my favorite… Sent with Love, but I decided to do something a little different! The base of my card is Whisper White Card Stock and for the background a piece of Island Indigo. I used MDS and my E-Cutter with the Hexagon Punch to cut a piece of Sent with Love Designer Series Paper. After some careful adhering and a little trimming I had the pattern for the main panel. All of the pieces are adhered to a piece of Real Red and backed with a piece of Calypso Coral. The greeting is from the Sent with Love Stamp Set and is stamped in Island Indigo and cut out with my Paper Snips. The piece behind it is created with the Epic Day This and That Designer Washi Tape. I adhered it to a piece of Whisper White and trimmed a little off of the top and bottom. The greeting is then adhered to it with some Stampin’ Dimensional pieces. I really do love the Sent with Love bundle and it’s only available until April 30th. The colors are great and so are the images! Hello and good day to you all! I hope that your Monday was good. Mine, busy and that’s all I’ll say! I got my This and That Epic Day Bundle yesterday. I also wanted to let you know that the April Best of Stamp Set is available and it’s my mum’s favorite… Best of Butterflies. The image below shows the stamps and you can click here for a PDF. It’s Tuesday and that means that it’s time for this week’s Mojo Monday Sketch Challenge. This time around we have an interesting sketch from Julee Tilman…

Since I got my This and That Bundle today I had to play! The base of the card is Crumb Cake Card Stock. The background is a piece of Pool Party that I stamped with the Netting Background Stamp in Crumb Cake and then sponged some Crumb Cake over it. The Tea Lace Paper Doily is spritzed with some Early Espresso Ink from my Stampin’ Spritzer and some more Crumb Cake is sponged on too. A piece of Calypso Coral is cut out with the Petal Cone Bigz L Die and yes, sponged with still more Crumb Cake. The two pieces of paper are form the This and That Epic Day Designer Series Paper Pack. I backed both of them with some Very Vanilla to make them a little more sturdy. I do that when I am using Stampin’ Dimensionals to mount DSP to a card. On the top piece I rounded the corners with the 3/16″ Corner Rounder. Three 3/16″ Metallic Brads are in the upper left corner. I used the new Remember This and That Rotary Stamp to stamp the date on the bottom in Basic Gray. The stamped image is form the A Round Array Stamp Set and is stamped in Pool Party, punched out with the 7/8″ Scallop Circle Punch, and yes, sponged with more Crumb Cake. I punched a piece of Crumb Cake with the 1 1/4″ Scallop Circle Punch to back it. The Essentials Paper-Piercing Pack and Paper-Piercing Tool supply the pierced edge. They are mounted to each other and to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals and also hold the piece of Calypso Coral that is cut out with the Bitty Banners Framelits Dies and, well you know! I really do love the new This and That products, they have some great colors and fun distressed looks to them. I hope that you enjoyed my card for this week’s Mojo Monday Sketch Challenge. SplitCoast Creative Crew April Challenges

Another speedy weekend and back to Monday we go. I did have a very nice weekend. Saturday night I went to see my friend Andrew’s Acapella group perform and they won! After that my friend Heather and I went to John’s Pizzeria in the Theater District for a very late dinner. I will tell you that the pizza is amazing! If you are ever in Manhattan put that on your list of places you must go to eat! Yesterday I worked on the Christening invites, everything is cut and stamped I just have to assemble them. A very busy but productive weekend! I hope that you had a good weekend and some family time on Easter Sunday.

Today I have my post for this month’s SplitCoast Creative Crew Challenges. This is my last month as a guest designer with them and I have to say it has been a lot of fun. A very nice group with some really good challenges, I enjoyed every one of them. Today I have three cards for you, all very different. One modern one, a semi-vintage one and a nice manly one!

The first card is for the DSP/Color Focus. They ask: It’s almost time to say goodbye to the 2011 In Colors. This month, show us the beauty of Island Indigo, Calypso Coral, Wisteria Wonder, Lucky Limeade and Pool Party! To challenge yourself, focus on your least favorite of these colors. I didn’t focus on my least favorite colors because I actually like all of the 2011-2013 In-Colors and will miss the ones that are going away. I did decide to go very modern and simple with my card though. The base is Basic Gray Card Stock that I cut to 8 1/2″ x 4 3/4″ and folded. The panels are Calypso Coral and Pool Party. I stamped the images in the same colors from the Beyond Plaid Stamp Set and rounded two of each panels corners with the 3/16″ Corner Rounder. The greeting is from the Sweet Essentials Stamp Set and is stamped in Versa-Mark and heat embossed with Pool Party Stampin’ Emboss Powder. I flagged the right side of the piece and adhered it to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. I really like the simple modern look and I have been really into leaving things off the edge of the card lately.

The second card I have for you is for the Creative Focus. They ask: This month, let’s show off our new paper piercing tools! Located on Page 181 of the Main Catalog and on Page 27 & 36 of the Spring Catalog, these can add a great accent to any project! Challenge yourself to add piercing to your card in a new way. If you don’t have the paper piercing tool, use a pushpin! Now we all know that I love a little paper-piercing! I wanted to try it on vellum and I’m really happy with the way it turned out. The base of the card is Naturals White Card Stock. I stamped the greeting from the One in a Million Stamp Set in Early Espresso. The layers in the middle start with a Tea Lace Paper Doily. Next up I took a piece of Tea for Two Designer Series Paper and a piece of Vellum Card Stock and held them together while I used the 1/2 Circle Punch to create the ticket corners on them. I then used the Essentials Paper-Piercing Pack and my Paper-Piercing Tool to pierce around the piece of vellum. Some SNAIL holds the vellum to the DSP. A piece of Bashful Blue is flagged on either end and pierced across the top and bottom edges. The butterfly is form the Beautiful Butterflies Bigz Die and is cut from Calypso Coral. I embossed it using the Perfect Polkadots Textured Impressions Embossing Folder, adhered it to the flagged piece with SNAIL and to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. A pice of Lucky Limeade is punched out with the 7/8″ Scallop Circle Punch and is used to back the 5/8″ Flower Trim that is adhered with Mini Glue Dots. The little butterfly on the bottom is a piece of Calypso Coral that I cut out with the Beautiful Wings Embosslit and adhered with Stampin’ Dimensionals too. I’m so happy with the piercing on the vellum. It’s so nice and crisp!

My final card is for the Holiday Focus. For this one they ask: Holiday focus: Let’s make cards for the men in our lives! I need these often, and I don’t make them enough. Challenge yourself by using a non-masculine set to make your masculine card or by trying a new technique. I knew exactly what set I wanted to use but I mixed it with a set that I don’t normally think of for masculine cards. The card starts off with a base of Early Espresso Card Stock. I used the Chevron Textured impressions Embossing Folder with some Pool Party Core’dinations Card Stock, I distressed it with that Stampin’ Distress Tool, then adhered it to the card base with SNAIL. The two flagged pieces are adhesive cork shelf liner that I cut out with the Hearts a Flutter Framelits Dies. The circle and #%&@! are from the Dude, You’re Welcome Kit. The circle is stamped in Pool Party and punched out with the 2 1/2″ Circle Punch. The #%&@! is stamped in Early Espresso and cut out with my Paper Snips. Both are adhered to each other and to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. The Happy and Birthday are from the Memorable Moments Stamp Set, are stamped in Early Espresso and punched out with the Ticket Duo Builder Punch. They too are adhered with Stampin’ Dimensionals. I guess it doesn’t get more masculine than a fill in the blank swear word in the middle of the card!

Paper Players #139 🙂

Hey there! Happy Easter! How is your weekend so far? Mine is pretty good. I got a lot of my projects done yesterday and I will finish them up today. It was beautiful here yesterday, 60 degrees and sunny. I went for a little ride in the car with the top down. It felt so nice to feel the sun and the breeze. It’s supposed to be nice here this morning but get overcast later. Any egg hunts should be completed in the first half of the day! I’ll be having some dinner with my family later, good times.

Today being Sunday means it’s time for this week’s Paper Players Challenge. This week we have a Tic-Tac-Toe from Jaydee…

I did the the diagonal from top left to bottom right, although I hit a few of the other boxes too. At least I didn’t try to do them all like the last time! LOL! I did do something a little different with my card today too. For the first time I made a hybrid card using the This and That Epic Day Digital Kit. I downloaded it from Stampin’ Up! and created a project in My Digital Studio. I just laid out some of the embellishments on an 8 1/2″ x 11″ page and shared the project as a JPEG. I opened it in Preview on my Mac and I printed it out. My Paper Trimmer and Paper Snips took care of the rest. The base of the card is Daffodil Delight Card Stock. The background, tickets, chevrons and tag are all form the This and That Epic Day Digital Kit. The tickets and chevrons are adhered to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. I backed the note tag with a piece of Basic Gray, rounded the corners with the 3/16″ Corner Rounder, and punched a hole in the top where I threaded some Linen Thread. Some Gumball Green and the Little Leaves Sizzlit supply the greenery. I created the flowers using the new A Round Array Stamp Set form the 2013-2014 Catalog. They are stamped in Primrose Petals and punched out with the 7/8″ Scallop Circle Punch and adhered with Stampin’ Dimensionals. Some Basic Jewels Pearls finish off the card. I love the This and That Epic Day goodies. I’ll get my actual products tomorrow but I had so much fun making the card with the print outs I will definitely do it again! Paper Craft Crew Sketch 35

So here we are at Wednesday, half way there! Today I was Mr. Fix-It at work. My friend Lisa was having trouble getting her car started. I determined that it was the battery in her smart key and Toyota couldn’t fix it. My friend Anthony’s wheelchair wouldn’t work so I tinkered with that and fixed that. Finally my friend Danielle’s Nexus 7 wouldn’t turn on so I got that to work. I came home and played with MDS for a bit and made a card (wanted to make more but time just gets away!). All in all a good day. How was your day?

Wednesday means it’s Paper Craft Crew time. This week we have a sketch for you to play with…

I looked at the Parker’s Patterns DSP and the Spec-tacular stamp and decided to go with a retro vibe. The base of the card is Cajun Craze Card Stock. I stamped a piece of Crumb Cake with the Woodgrain Background Stamp inked in Crumb Cake for the background. Two strips of Parker’s Patterns Designer Series Paper fill in the middle. The Spec-tacular Single Stamp is stamped in Cajun Craze on Very Vanilla. I colored in a pair of the glasses with the Silver Stampin’ Dazzle Marker and backed it with a piece of Not Quite Navy. Some Stampin’ Dimensionals adhere it to the card. The button is a Silver Basics Designer Button. I punched a piece of Not Quite Navy with the 1/2″Circle Punch and a piece of Silver Glimmer Paper with the Itty Bitty Shapes Punch pack and adhered them to the center of the button. Some Mini Glue Dots hold the button to the card. The sentiment is form the Itty Bitty Banners Stamp Set, stamped in Not Quite Navy and cut out with the Bitty Banners Framelits Dies. Some more Stampin’ Dimensionals adhere it to the card. For a little 60’s vibe I stamped the peace symbols from the Itty Bitties Stamp Set in Not Quite Navy and punched them out with a standard hole punch. Some more Mini Glue Dots hold them in place. I love the Spec-tacular Stamp and the colors and DSP do give it a bit of a retro feel. I hope that you enjoyed my Paper Craft Crew Design Team card for this week’s sketch challenge.
