Mojo 315

Monday’s, why must you be so naughty?! We have our annual gala at work on Friday and things have kicked into high gear. It’s funny how almost everything happens the last week. Nothing like a little planning! LOL! It’s feeling a little more fall like here with the temperature not getting much above 60 today. Still comfortable so no complaints from me yet. Just wait if we get snow, I’ll be complaining then! 🙂

Before I get to today’s post I wanted to tell you about some weekly specials that Stampin’ Up! has. Every Tuesday they offer some products at a 25% discount. This week they have the following creative assistants on sale:

10-15 Deals 1 10-15 Deals 2

Pretty cool deal huh? They are available while supplies last!

Now on to the post which is for this week’s Mojo Monday sketch that is conjured up by the talented Julee Tilman…

Mojo315

There are some fun flags on this one! The base of my card is Whisper White Card Stock and the background is a piece of paper from the Season of Style Designer Series Paper Stack. My base panel in the middle is Pistachio Pudding that I embossed with the Pretty Print Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. The flags are Gold Foil Sheet and are cut out with the Bitty Banners Framelits Dies. I also used some Gold Foil Sheet for the strip across the middle. The greeting is from the Christmas Messages Stamp Set and is stamped in Calypso Coral. I eliminated the word “and” and replaced it with the ampersand from the Hello, Lovely Stamp Set along with two arrows, both stamped in Pistachio Pudding. A piece of Calypso Coral backs the greeting and a Subtle Designer Button with a circle of Gold Foil Sheet punched out with the Itty Bitty Shapes Punch Pack completes my card. I really like the unusual mix of colors and the gold gives it a little sparkle. Thanks you for stopping by to see my Mojo Monday Sketch challenge card, I love having you visit and hope that you have a good day! 🙂

Paper Players 167

Well, that was a pretty nice and busy weekend! I had dinner Friday night, the party on Saturday and then a nice ride into Manhattan to drop off an order and have some dinner. We went to Momofuku downtown. It’s a noodle bar and I do love some ramen noodles. They also have really good pork buns, made extra tasty with some hot sauce. I also had a very good beer that was called Baba and it is brewed in none other than Salt Lake City, UT! I think I will be adding and extra day to the gym schedule this week!

It’s Monday, the bad part… back to work, the good part… it’s time for this week’s Paper Players challenge. This week we have a great color combo from Jaydee…

Paper Players #167

Love me some blue!! I went with a simple classic card. The base of the card is Midnight Muse Card Stock. I created a large flag with a piece of the Subtles Designer Series Paper Stack and adhered that to the card front as a sort of small background. The image is from the Everyday Occasions Kit and is stamped in Midnight Muse and cut out with the Chalk Talk Framelits. I also used the Framelits to cut out a piece of Pool Party to put behind the greeting and I adhered them all to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. Some Pool Party Bakers Twine wrapped around the top and tied in a bow along with a few Basic Jewels Rhinestones completes the card. The color combination is definitely one of my favorites and the stamps in the Everyday Occasions kit are great! Thank you for stopping by to see my Paper Players challenge card for this week’s sketch from Jaydee. Have a great day! 🙂

Just Add Ink 186

Yesterday turned out to be a nice day. It was sunny and warm with a little wind last night. I went to my friend Christina’s son’s first birthday party yesterday. I am sad to say that I ate my weight in candy! There was so much there! I did find a new favorite, red gummy bears coated in milk chocolate! DELICIOUS!! I’m going to have go into Manhattan later on to drop off and order for a friend and I think I should walk! LOL! I also slept in a little this morning, you’re allowed to do that on Sundays right?!

Today I have my card for this week’s Just Add Ink challenge. Thanks to the crew over there for choosing my card for honorable mention for last week’s challenge. You can see my original post here and the Just Add Ink post here. This week they have give us this photo for inspiration…

JAI Inspiration 186

A very pretty wreath indeed! I was going to reach for my Wonderful Wreath Stamp and then I thought I should mix it up a bit! The base of my card is Bermuda Bay that I trimmed to 3 3/4″ x 11″ and folded. I used the Deco Labels Framelits Dies to cut out a piece of Gumball Green, I wanted it to hang off the sides hence the reason I cut my card stock thinner. The Whisper White is the Decorative Label Punch cut in half and adhered to the Deco Label. I used the Circles Collection Framelits to cut out a piece of Crumb Cake to serve as a base for my “wreath”. All of the presents are from the Wishing You Stamp Set and are stamped in Bermuda Bay, Gumball Green and Cherry Cobbler. My trusty Paper Snips cut them apart and I adhere the first layer to the circle with SNAIL and the used some Stampin’ Dimensionals for the second layer. A few sequins give them a little sparkle. The greeting is from the Tags 4 You Stamp Set and is stamped in Cherry Cobbler and punched out with the Label Bracket Punch. Another strip of presents goes across the bottom to help balance the card. I really like the colors together and the gift wreath is pretty neat! Thanks so much for dropping by today to see my card for this week’s Just Add Ink challenge. I hope that you all enjoy your Sunday! 🙂

Pals Paper Arts 175

It was a pretty good Friday yesterday. Work was crazy busy but I did go to dinner with Danielle and Anthony last night. We went to Buffalo Wild Wings and had some fried pickles which are quite yummy. It has been overcast here for the past couple of days but it hasn’t rained yet which is ok by me. I think we are actually supposed to see the sun later on today which will be nice. I’ll be going to Manhattan at some point this weekend, just not sure just when. I’ll also be working on a bunch of projects today which always makes me happy! What are you all doing this weekend?

Today’s card is for this week’s Pals Paper Arts challenge. Thanks to Kerry for choosing my card for her pick for last week’s color challenge. You can see my original post here and the Pals post here. This week we have another color challenge…

PPA 175

A nice subtle fall combination. The base of my card is Always Artichoke Card Stock and the background is a piece of paper from the Subtles Designer Series Paper Stack. I stamped the greeting from the A Dozen Thoughts Stamp Set in Cajun Craze right on the background. A square of Cajun Craze that I embossed with the Petals a Plenty Textured Impressions Embossing Folder creates the backdrop for the stamped image. Both of the images are form the Best of Flowers Stamp Set, the silhouette image is stamped in Always Artichoke and backed with the same color. I stamped the flower in Cajun Craze on So Saffron and punched it out with the 1 1/4″ Scallop Circle Punch. A Subtles Designer Button adhered with a Mini Glue Dot completes the card. I love the patterns in the new DSP Stacks and having just the edges peek out from behind the background is a nice change. Thanks for stopping by to see my card for this week’s Pals Paper Arts color challenge. I hope that you all have a productively fun Saturday! 🙂

Paper Craft Crew 62

So yesterday I made my first foray into the gym… ever. A few weeks ago I decided that it was time to get into shape. Plus, it’s healthy to go to the gym, right? I managed to talk to my friend Andrew into going with me so we can motivate one another; I’ll keep you posted as to how it goes. The weather today was nice, sunny and a little cooler, but nice nonetheless. I have to go into Manhattan on Thursday for work, and it’s supposed to rain, that should prove to be tons of fun. I love the city, but not so much when it rains.

Today I have my Design Team card for this week’s Paper Craft Crew sketch challenge. This week we have a nice simple sketch…

PCCCS062 10-09-2013

The base of today’s card is Basic Black Card Stock. I used a stamp from the Lots of Thanks Stamp Set to heat emboss the thanks in Gold Stampin’ Emboss Powder directly on the card base. The flower images are from the Morning Meadow Host(ess) Stamp Set. They’re both stamped in Black Staz-On ink. The bunch of flowers is cut out with the Ovals Collection Framelits and backed with a piece of the Gold Foil Sheet, also cut out with the Ovals Collection Framelits. The large flower is punched out with the Pansy Punch and a piece of Gold Foil is punched out with the Itty Bitty Shapes Punch Pack and adhered in the center. Four Basic Jewels Pearls are adhered on top of that. Along the top of the oval are three matte black sequins with three Basic Jewels Pearls in the center of them. I love the simple elegance of the card and the wow that the Gold Foil Sheet gives it. I hope you enjoyed my simple, elegant card for this week’s Paper Craft Crew Sketch Challenge. Don’t forget to visit the blog to see what the rest of the Design Team has come up with for this sketch. Thank you so much for stopping by, and have a wonderful Wednesday.

SUO Challenges 81

It was officially a Monday yesterday! I have given up all hope of catching up at work and I am just going to go with it. They can add much faster than I can subtract! LOL! The weather here yesterday was a little sunny in the morning and then it got gradually gloomier until it started raining around 5:00. I guess that’s the end of our glorious weather, and I was enjoying it so much! All good things must come to an end as they say. Did you have a good Monday? I hope so!

For today’s post I have my card for the SUO Challenges. This time around we are asked to make a masculine project. I know most people think dark browns or dark blues but I’m a guy and I like all sorts of colors! I went with the metal look and some bright blues.

The base of the card is Pacific Point Card Stock with a layer of Tempting Turquoise. I used a piece of the Silver Foil Sheets with the Chevron Textured Impressions Embossing Folder for the top of the background. All of the stamped images and greeting are from the Rev Up the Fun! Stamp Set and are stamped in Pacific Point and Tempting Turquoise except for the tire tracks, they are stamped in Basic Gray. Some chevrons punched out with the Chevron Border Punch, again in Pacific Point and Tempting Turquoise, give the card a little motion in front of and behind the race cars. I’m really glad that I got the Rev Up the Fun! set, I have used it a lot more than I thought I would! I’m also loving the bright blues with the SIlver Foil Sheets and they emboss really nicely. Thanks so much for taking some time to stop by and see my card for the SUO Challenges Design Team. I hope you’ll head on over to the blog to see the other designers cards and enter yours in the gallery. Have a great Tuesday everyone! 🙂

Paper Players 166

And there goes another weekend, so fast! I had a great weekend and hope you did too. Yesterday it was gloomy so I crafted in the morning and then went with a friend of mine to see the Rise of the Jack-O-Lanterns at Westbury Gardens. I have to say that it was pretty neat! It starts at 7:00pm, with groups going through every 15 minutes and you can take your time and linger. It’s also pretty cool because at the end there is a walk through a completely overgrown path and then a nice walk along the pond. I took a bunch of pictures and I have a few to share with you. A nice bonus was that I got to see my Sandy who was there with some of her family!

The first one is the really neat sign that they have at the entrance.

Rise Sign

The next one is a really cool Edward Scissorhands made from a bunch of pumpkins.

Rise Burton

Up next is a really cool city scene complete with a set of subway cars.

Rise City

This last one I just thought was so cool, it is a very realistic wave.

Rise Wave

Now those were some pretty awesome pumpkins! I wish I would have brought a camera so I could have zoomed in to get a little closer but I’m so use to taking pictures with my iPhone I never think about a camera!

It’s Monday which means it’s time for this week’s Paper Players challenge. This week we have a fun Halloween theme challenge from the lovely Nance…

Paper Players #166

I was going to do the treat holder but then I was possessed by the need to make a Halloween card with Gumball Green! The base of the card is Basic Black Card Stock and the background is a piece of Gumball Green. For the top and bottom of the card I cut out some Silver Glimmer Paper and Pumpkin Pie with the Large Scallop Edgelit Die and layered them. My fun little skulls are from the Halloween Hello Stamp Set and are stamped in Jet Black Staz-On and cut out with my Paper Snips. Some Stampin’ Dimensionals hold them securely to the Glimmer Paper. The greeting is from the Seasonal Sayings Stamp Set (which is a carry-over from last year’s Holiday Catalog) and is markered in Gumball Green and Pumpkin Pie. I used the Chalk Talk Framelits Dies to cut it out and another piece of Silver Glimmer Paper. Under that is a piece of Basic Black that I cut out with the Labels Collection Framelits Dies and embossed it using the “Vintage” Spider Web Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. I love Gumball Green for a Halloween card and the Glimmer Paper and the skulls are just fun! Thank you very much for stopping by to see my Paper Players card for this weeks Halloween theme challenge from Nance. Have a bearable Monday peeps! 🙂

Just Add Ink 185

Yesterday I went into Manhattan for a little while. I actually did a fair amount of walking, about 8 miles altogether and 3 of them in about an hour! Nice way to get some exercise don’t you think?! Some of you have mentioned that you like to see pictures of the city so I took a few on my travels. The first one is the Citibank building on Lexington Ave. Something that you may not know about the building is that they built it with no corner supports because there was a church on the corner that had to stay. The supports are in the middle of each side, pretty neat that it stays up!

Citibank Tower

The next picture was taken while I was walking down Lexington Avenue. You can see that there isn’t a lot of traffic for a Saturday and if you look way down the street you can just see the Chrysler Building on the left.

Chrysler Bldg

I will make sure to take some pictures whenever I wander around Manhattan!

As promised I have a few cards to share with you today. First I will tell you about my Just Add Ink card for their color challenge this week. At the end of the post I will share my mum’s birthday card and also a note card that I sent to a friend. Here are the colors for JAI challenge…

JAI Color 185

A fun bunch of colors with two neutrals! The base of my card is Coastal Cabana Card Stock and the first background layer is a piece of Raspberry Ripple. I stamped the Filmstrip Stamp in Sahara Sand on Very Vanilla twice next to each other, one slightly lower. A flag from the Hearts a Flutter Stamp Set is stamped in Raspberry Ripple and cut out with the Hearts a Flutter Framelits Dies goes on top of the filmstrips. The stars are from the SImply Stars Stamp set and are stamped in Raspberry Ripple and Coastal Cabana, the large stars are punched out with the “Vintage” Large Star Punch and the little ones are cut out with my Paper Snips. For the greeting I used the Banner Greetings Host(ess) Stamp Set stamped in Raspberry Ripple. A piece of Coastal Cabana is cut out with the Expressions Thinlits Dies and adhered in the top left corner with some 2-Way Glue. One of the Neutrals Designer Button with some Linen Thread tied in a bow completes the card. I love the color combination and the randomness of the card. I hope we get some more Expressions Thinlits in the Spring Catalog!

JAI 185

Next up is my mum’s birthday card. Remember I told you the she requested a card this year? I had show her the card that I made for my Aussie mate Carolyn and she, also being a big butterfly fan loved it. I made one for her but changed it up a bit.

Here is the front with some of my favorite feathers and some Encore Gold Ink.

Mum B'day 2013

Here is the inside with the fun Swallowtail that pops up when you open up the card.

Mum B'day 2013 Inside

Finally here is a card that I made for my friend Bev using the new Map it Out Photopolymer Stamp Set.

Pals Paper Arts 174

I’m off to Manhattan for a bit today but I will be doing some serious crafting later. Nothing out of the ordinary but today is a special day because it’s World Card Making Day! Will you be making some cards today? If you do then you need to participate because Stampin’ Up! has a special contest to help celebrate. Here are all of the details:

There are two ways to enter:

  • E-mail a photo of a card, or of you making a card, made with Stampin’ Up! product on World Cardmaking Day to [email protected].
  • Post a photo of a card, or of you making a card, made with Stampin’ Up! product on World Cardmaking Day on Instagram. Mention us by typing @stampinup and use the hashtag #wcmd2013 in the description.

This contest is open to everyone-demonstrators, customers, friends, spouses, children . . . you get the idea. However, there are a few conditions:

  • You must be over the age of 18 to win a prize.
  • You can enter as many times as you wish, but each entry must feature a different card.
  • Contest will last all day on October 5, from 12:01 AM to 12:00 PM.

A selection of pictures will be posted to Stampin’ Up!’s World Cardmaking Day Pinterest Board and the winners announced in a later current update.

That’s pretty neat huh?! I’ll also post my mum’s Birthday card tomorrow for you to see and some other cards for you in addition to my regular post! 🙂

Stampin’ Up! released a new product yesterday called Pop & Place Gift Tags & Stamps. It’s a kit that comes with over 70 pre-cut tags and a Photopolymer Stamp Set. The best part is that the tags match a lot of our punches and dies. You can get just the tags, just the stamps, both the tags and the stamps or you can get a starter kit with the stamps, tags, a Soft Suede Stampin’ Spot and a Clear Block C. You can see all of the pricing on the flyer below and if you would like a PDF you can click here to get one. I think it’s a really neat idea and would also make a great gift for someone!

I love the stamps! Shocker! LOL! Now for today’s post I have my Pals Paper Arts card for this week’s color challenge…

PPA 174

Remember when I said that yesterday it was very unusual for me to use a color challenge for the obvious card? Well, I went in the complete opposite direction today! The base of today’s card is Baked Brown Sugar that I cut out with my Circle Card Thinlits Die. I left the right side over the top to make the extended piece, I like to do that because it gives you a little more space to write. The middle of the front circle is a piece of Pumpkin Pie that I cut out with the Circles Collection Framelits, I also used them to cut out the ring around the circle. Some Pear Pizzaz cut out with the Little Leaves Sizzlit Die goes on top of the circle and also on either side at the bottom. One of the stamps from the Christmas Collectibles Stamp Set is stamped in Pumpkin Pie and punched out with the Christmas Ornament Punch. In the middle is one of the In Color Boutique Details in Baked Brown Sugar. On the inside of the circle is a piece of Pear Pizzaz punched out with the 2 1/2″ Circle Punch and the greeting is from the Christmas Messages Stamp Set and is cut out with the Deco Labels Collection Framelits Dies. My favorite part of the card is the way that the ring circles the outside and then the inside. Also, when I think of Christmas I don’t necessarily think of red and green, decorations are all kinds of colors. I hope that you enjoyed my card for this week’s Pals Paper Arts color challenge. Thank you for stopping by to see my card and my little tangent above! I wish you the best Saturday ever!

Freshly Made Sketches 106

Yesterday was just like summer here! It got up to 84 degrees and was sunny with a slight breeze. We have been so lucky to have this weather and I’m enjoying every minute of it. It’s going to be a little cooler but more humid today and should stay that way through the weekend. Wahoo! (Paper Pumpkin pun intended!) I wanted to take a minute and thank Brian for his wonderful post yesterday and to thank all of you for your kind comments. I really am very happy that he and I have become such good friends, I couldn’t ask for a better one. I did see all of the comments on some kind of tutorial and if I have some time this weekend I will put together something. I couldn’t show how to do the whole card, that would be a mini-series! LOL! I’m really happy that you all enjoyed the card!

Today I have my card for this week’s Freshly Made Sketches but first I want to thank Linda C. for choosing me as her Perfect Prince for last week’s sketch! You can see the original post here and the Freshly Made Sketches post here. This week we have a sketch from the sweet Amy…

Freshly Made Sketches #106

A very clean sketch indeed! I went with a really rich holiday card, I’m loving the gold, it’s everywhere at the moment! The base of my card is a piece of Cherry Cobbler Card Stock. For the background I used a piece of paper from the Season of Style Designer Series paper Pack and backed it with a piece of Brushed Gold Card Stock. Yup, there’s that wreath again! LOL! I heat embossed the Wonderful Wreath Stamp in Gold Stampin’ Emboss Powder and used my Circles Collection Framelits to cut it out. The greeting is from the Greetings of the Season Stamp Set (which is a carry over from last year’s Holiday Catalog) and that is heat embossed in Cherry Cobbler Stampin’ Emboss Powder on Brushed Gold and backed with a piece of Cherry Cobbler. Two thin strips of Cherry Cobbler are adhered across the top and bottom and some Stampin’ Dimensionals adhere it to the card. I love the simple elegance and richness of the Cherry Cobbler and the Brushed Gold. A very regal Holiday card indeed! Thank you so much for stopping by to see my Freshly Made Sketches card for this week’s challenge from Amy and thank you again for all of your wonderful comments! Have a great Thursday and I’ll see you back here for tomorrow for my Design Team card for Fab Friday! 🙂
