Freshly Made Sketches 106

Yesterday was just like summer here! It got up to 84 degrees and was sunny with a slight breeze. We have been so lucky to have this weather and I’m enjoying every minute of it. It’s going to be a little cooler but more humid today and should stay that way through the weekend. Wahoo! (Paper Pumpkin pun intended!) I wanted to take a minute and thank Brian for his wonderful post yesterday and to thank all of you for your kind comments. I really am very happy that he and I have become such good friends, I couldn’t ask for a better one. I did see all of the comments on some kind of tutorial and if I have some time this weekend I will put together something. I couldn’t show how to do the whole card, that would be a mini-series! LOL! I’m really happy that you all enjoyed the card!

Today I have my card for this week’s Freshly Made Sketches but first I want to thank Linda C. for choosing me as her Perfect Prince for last week’s sketch! You can see the original post here and the Freshly Made Sketches post here. This week we have a sketch from the sweet Amy…

Freshly Made Sketches #106

A very clean sketch indeed! I went with a really rich holiday card, I’m loving the gold, it’s everywhere at the moment! The base of my card is a piece of Cherry Cobbler Card Stock. For the background I used a piece of paper from the Season of Style Designer Series paper Pack and backed it with a piece of Brushed Gold Card Stock. Yup, there’s that wreath again! LOL! I heat embossed the Wonderful Wreath Stamp in Gold Stampin’ Emboss Powder and used my Circles Collection Framelits to cut it out. The greeting is from the Greetings of the Season Stamp Set (which is a carry over from last year’s Holiday Catalog) and that is heat embossed in Cherry Cobbler Stampin’ Emboss Powder on Brushed Gold and backed with a piece of Cherry Cobbler. Two thin strips of Cherry Cobbler are adhered across the top and bottom and some Stampin’ Dimensionals adhere it to the card. I love the simple elegance and richness of the Cherry Cobbler and the Brushed Gold. A very regal Holiday card indeed! Thank you so much for stopping by to see my Freshly Made Sketches card for this week’s challenge from Amy and thank you again for all of your wonderful comments! Have a great Thursday and I’ll see you back here for tomorrow for my Design Team card for Fab Friday! 🙂

  1. Justin – This card pokes me right in the heart (that’s a good thing). I love that you kept it simple and clean, and I am happy you used that wreath as the circle element of the card. Works so well here!

  2. Very elegant card Justin. Wonderful color combo and I just love gold embossing powder. It really is a standout among embossing powders. The weather here in Maine has been pretty springlike too for several weeks now. I hope this isn’t just a tease leading up to a really bad winter! LOL

    1. Thank you Grace! Gold is my favorite embossing powder too! I hope that you are wrong, I would be fine with no winter at all! 🙂

  3. Beautiful card Justin!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I agree with Grace about the gold embossing powder. Great job! Have a wonderful day!

  4. This card is absolutely gorgeous!!! Didn’t think much of this stamp (Wonderful Wreath) until I saw your card. Thanks for sharing.

  5. Very regal and elegant. The card makes me think of the Biltmore Estate all decked out at Christmas time. I see your card fitting right in with the era. If you ever get a chance to visit I recommend it. I just want to say your card/mini album from yesterday is simply amazing! I didn’t get a chance to post on it yesterday.

    1. Yes Lisa! Thank you! I do know of the Biltmore Estate, if I am ever nearby I will definitely go! Glad you like the card/album too! 🙂

  6. Very elegant and traditional indeed. I thought there were 4 layers for the sentiment and was thinking it might add to the cost of mailing it… until I read how, you genius that you are, just put two very thin strips over the gold! Love that wreath more and more, may have to get it now that I have seen it used without any fussy cutting! LOL
Congrats again for being a Prince. No doubt this one will be too, if not King (no pun intended Brian). Gorgous here in SW Ontario too..

    1. Thank you Louise! I fooled you huh?!?! I didn’t card much for the wreath but as you can see I really do love it now! Thanks for the congrats! LOL! Glad your weather is good too! Have a nice evening! 🙂

  7. Beautiful, Justin! I love the way you’ve mounted the wreath on the cherry cobbler circle – it really accentuates the richness of the gold.

  8. WOW!! MAN!! I’m speechless!! This is the BOMB!!!!!!!!!!!
    You’re incredible, Justin!!!!!

  9. This is gorgeous, Justin! I wouldn’t have thought to emboss the wreath, but it looks beautiful with the gold powder. And I love the gold brushed card stock — I need to remember to use that stuff more! I’m so glad you got to play along with this sketch!

    1. Thank you Amy! I have been embossing a lot lately and I do love that wreath! I have always been a big fan of the Brushed Gold Card Stock (and the silver!). So glad you enjoyed the card. Have a great weekend! 🙂
