Freshly Made Sketches 211

Hmm.. what day is today?! Why it’s FRIDAY of course! I had a busy Thursday. I FaceTimed with Andrea in the morning and then ran over to Scrap-A-Latte to see Renee for a bit before coming back home to have dinner with my parents, Daniel and Jason. After dinner I ran over to BJ’s with Heather and then a quick stop at Michaels before briefly coming back home to make my card for today. Then it was off to Heather’s for thirsty Thursday with Stephanie. Today I’m off to Manhattan to hang at The Ink Pad before my card class there this evening. I’m staying at Kim’s tonight because I’m going to go back to The Ink Pad on Saturday for a bit too! I have a busy few days ahead! I like them like that though!

The card that I made last night is for this week’s Freshly Made Sketches challenge…

I did a little more watercoloring, this time with Distress Ink! The card base is Neenah Solar White 110lb Card Stock cut to 3 1/2″ wide. I used some Heidi Swapp Gold Color Shine to spatter the front and set that aside to dry while I worked on images. I stamped the heart from the Simon Says Stamp I See You Photopolymer Stamp Set in Versa-Mark on Tim Holtz Watercolor Paper and heat embossed it with Ranger Gold Embossing Powder. It’s colored in with Mermaid Lagoon and Hickory Smoke Distress Ink, I colored the markers onto a clear block and the used a wet brush to fill in the grid. I used the Simon Says Stamp Hearts and Spoons Dies to cut out the heart and adhered it to the card with Foam Tape. My flowers are from the Simon Says Stamp Flowers On My Mind Photopolymer Stamp Set and are stamped in Abandoned Coral and Fossilized Amber. I spritzed the stamps with water using a Mini Mister before stamping them onto some more Tim Holtz Watercolor Paper. They are cut out with the Coordinating Dies and adhered to the heart with more Foam Tape. I stamped the leaves from the Simon Says Stamp Oh Happy Day Photopolymer Stamp Set in Twisted Citron and also cut them out with the Coordinating Dies, they are tucked under the flowers. My greeting is from the I See You Set and is stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black and adhered to the flowers with more Foam Tape. Finally, three Pretty Pink Posh Gold Sequins are adhered to the heart and finish the card! I love the fun combination of bright colors, definitely not my usual! Freshly Made Sketches 210

Another fun day at The Ink Pad with Barbara and Jane! You really do get to meet all sorts of interesting people! I also picked up a new Hero Arts Layering Set and my two London Sets that my friend Lesley used to make my birthday card! I love going into Manhattan and sitting in Starbucks having some coffee and oatmeal in the morning and not doing much else. It’s the one time that I actually don’t do anything! Today is going to be a day for errands and crafting, maybe even some straightening up! I am also picking up Danielle at LaGuardia, she coming back from Florida. Like I said yesterday, tomorrow I will be at the Society of Scribes Holiday Fair at The Brotherhood Synagogue at 28 Gramercy Park South from 11am until 4pm with Anna. I’m a little obsessed with pens and writing so it should be fun!

Now on to my post for today is for this week’s Freshly Made Sketches challenge…

I combined a few things from Pretty Pink Posh to make a nice cheery card! The base is Neenah Solar White 110lb Card Stock. I took a piece of Solar White 80lb and used my Ranger Mini Ink Blending Tool and Simon Says Stamp High Dive, Teeny Bikini and Hot Mama ink to create the fun background and then cut it out with the Lawn Fawn Small Stitched Rectangles Dies. It’s adhered directly to the card with SNAIL. Another piece of 80lb is cut out with the Pretty Pink Posh Stitched Filmstrip Die. I used it to make the shaker portion of the card. Some Window Sheet is adhered to the back and then two rows of Foam Tape. I sprinkled some Pretty Pink Posh Ballerina, Amethyst, Orchid, Sparkling Clear and Ocean Spray Sequins on the card and then adhered the filmstrip over them. My three cute images are from the Simon Says Stamp with Pretty Pink Posh Stamptember Exclusive Set Darling Friends. They are stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black, colored in with my Copics and then cut out with the Coordinating Dies. Some Foam Tape adheres them to the filmstrip. Finally my greeting is a piece of Solar White 80lb cut out with the Simon Says Stamp Be Craft Die. The happy is from the Simon Says Stamp I See You Photopolymer Stamp Set and is stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black. The Be is adhered with Multi-Matte Medium and the happy with Foam Tape. I think that the greeting fits with the happy animals quite nicely, don’t you?! I hope that you enjoyed my card for this week’s Freshly Made Sketches challenge! Paper Craft Crew Sketch 168

Getting a late start to the day, oops! I was at Scrap-A-Latte yesterday watching the store for Renee. I did some cutting for her and then Andrew came up and had lunch with me. We had Blaze pizza, delicious as always! He helped me put up some new signs in the window and we listened to music and got caught up. Nice to spend some time with him! When I got home I had a sandwich and watched Limitless. After that it was time for bed. Today we are supposed to have rain and wind so it will be a good crafty day. I need one of those!

After a little hiatus I’m back over on the Paper Craft Crew blog today for this week’s sketch…

As soon as I saw the sketch I thought it would be a good one to use with my Hero Arts Kit! The card base is Neenah Solar White 110lb Card Stock. For the background I used a piece of Vellum and rounded the corners with my Corner Chomper. My greeting and all of the poinsettias and leaves are from the October My Monthly Hero Arts Kit. I heat embossed the greeting in Ranger Gold Tinsel Embossing Powder. Across the lower part is a piece of paper from the Recollections Midnight Magic 6×6 Paper Pad. I adhered that to the vellum and then hid some SNAIL and 2-Way Glue behind the strip and greeting to adhere the vellum to the card. A circle is cut out with the Simon Says Stamp Stitched Circles from another piece of paper from the same 6×6 pad and adhered to the card with Foam Tape. The poinsettias are stamped in one of the reds from the kit, the second layer is Simon Says Stamp Schoolhouse Red and then the third layer is heat embossed with Ranger Gold Embossing Powder. In the center I used some Simon Says Stamp Goldenlocks. For the leaves I used the two greens that came in the kit and then cut out the poinsettias and leaves with the coordinating dies. A piece of Early Espresso is cut out with the Memory Box Branching Out Dies and adhered to the gold circle with SNAIL. The Poinsettias are adhered with Foam Tape and the leaves with SNAIL tucked under them. I used a little Glossy Accents in the centers of the poinsettias and the card is done! I’ve said it before, I love the stamp layering sets and this one is no exception! The stamps in the kit are great and the coordinating dies are a nice addition! Oceana Pearl Birthday

It’s a little chilly here this morning but it’s the weekend so it’s all good! Yesterday I went over to Scrap-A-Latte in the morning to help Renee with some stuff and then came back home so I could meet Sue and got to lunch. We went to the Sequa Deli and I had a the Buffalo Chicken Panini. We sat and chatted for a while, I told her all about my trip, I haven’t seen her since before I left for England! After lunch we came back to my house for a bit and looked at some of my cards. It was great to catch up with her! After, I had dinner at my parents and played with Daniel for a bit before running out to do some errands. I met up with Heather at BJ’s and then came home and watched Jurassic World. This morning I’m headed into Manhattan to hang at The Ink Pad again which is always fun!

Last night I was going through my stash and came across a die that I haven’t used and a card popped into my head! Love it when that happens! The base for the card is Neenah Solar White 110lb Card Stock. My background is a piece of Island Indigo that I heat embossed with Ranger Silver Pearl Embossing Powder using the Hero Arts Waves Background Stamp, it’s then adhered to the card with Fun Foam and SNAIL. In the left corner is that die, the Memory Box Oceana Corner cut from some Paper Cut Ice Gold Metallic Curious Card Stock. I used little tiny pieces of Foam Tape to adhere it to the card. My greeting is the Simon Says Stamp Happy Birthday Die cut from the same card stock and adhered to the card with Multi-Matte Medium. Of course, to finish off the card there is a sprinkling of Pretty Pink Posh Sparkling Clear Sequins! I love the Silver Pearl Embossing Powder and the way it changes color in the light! SIP Challenge 19 – Tic-Tac-Toe!

Hello! I had another one of the I slept in late mornings! Have to stop those before they become a habit! LOL! Yesterday I spent the day watching the store for Renee. I played with lots of goodies and got a few projects done. I also spoke to Andrea on FaceTime, my parent’s stopped by for a visit and I got speak to Michael for a while. After I left I stopped by my friend Louis’ and we went out for some dinner before I headed home. I also got to FaceTime with Jules for a bit before heading to bed. Not a bad Monday! 🙂

So if it’s Tuesday that means that it’s time for this week’s Stamp, Ink, Paper Challenge! This week we have a fun Halloween Tic-Tac-Toe Board from Sandy!

I made my card while I was at the store yesterday, I chose the top row but didn’t have my sequins with me so I added some Glossy Accents to his eyes and beak! The card base for today is Recollections Ivory 110lb Card Stock and the front is covered in a piece of Black 110lb. My background is cut from a piece of Shale Card Stock using the Tim Holtz Birch Trees Thinlits Die. I used a little Vintage Photo Distress Ink and my Mini Ink Blending Tool to give it a little definition before adhered it to the card with Multi-Matte Medium. The scared little bird is from the Tim Holtz Bird Crazy Stamp Set, the hat and jack-o-latern are from the Crazy Things Stamp Set. I colored them all in with Copics and then used the coordinating dies to cut them out. His eyes, beak and wings are cut out separately and they are adhered with Foam Tape. Some Glossy Accents on his eyes and beak along with a little Sakura Black Glaze Pen on the jack-o-latern give him a little more life! He is adhered to the card with Foam Tape along with the greeting that is cut from Pumpkin Pie using the Stampin’ Up! Little Letters Thinlits. Manhattan Wishing Night Skyline

What a lovely day I had yesterday in Manhattan with Grace and her two daughters Toni-Lynn and Tracy! I met up with them at The Ink Pad and from there we headed over to Elephant & Castle for lunch. It was so nice to get know them, especially after speaking to Grace for all of these years on this blog! We finished lunch and Grace wanted to do a little shopping at the store so we headed back. She picked up a few Lawn Fawn sets and we got to speak to Anna for a bit. Here are the four of us…

After we had finished at The Ink Pad we headed over to Chelsea Market and picked up some Fat Witch brownies. If you have never had them you need to make sure that you try them, they are delicious! From there we walked along the Hi-Line for a while. There are always new things to see along there. Here is a picture looking out between some buildings and if you look really closely in the middle you can see the Statue of Liberty…

Love that last one, it’s a redo of the famous Kiss picture of the Sailor and the Nurse!

So as you can see we had a very nice time yesterday and it was so great to get to meet Grace and her lovely daughters! I can’t wait to see them again!

I did pick up a few new goodies from The Ink Pad too and I used one of them to make today’s card. The card base is Neenah Solar White 110lb Card Stock. I used the Lawn Fawn Snowy Backdrop Lawn Cuts to cut out a piece of Solar White 80lb and then took my Ranger Mini Ink Blending Tool and some Blueprint Sketch, Peacock Feathers and Chipped Sapphire Distress Inks to create the night sky. A piece of Black 110lb is cut out with the My Favorite Things Die-namics New York Skyline Die. I heat embossed the greeting from the Simon Says Stamp Wishing Photopolymer Stamp Set in Hero Arts White Embossing Powder and then die cut another piece of Solar White 80lb that I also blended with the same Distress Inks with the Simon Says Stamp Wishing Die and adhered that to next to the greeting with Multi-Matte Medium. SNAIL and Fun Foam adhere the skyline to the card. A few Pretty Pink Posh Bermuda Blue and Marshmallow Sequins are adhered along the bottom of skyline for a little sparkle and complete the card! Paper Players 265

It was another beautiful day here yesterday and looks to be the same today. I stayed in for a good part of the day and worked on some projects and FaceTimed with Andrea for a while. Last night I ran over to see Heather and FaceTimed with Jules for a bit with she was on break. She works at Heathrow for their version of the TSA and was having a latte in Costa! I’ll be heading into Manhattan in a bit to work at The Ink Pad again today, so if you are in the area stop by and say hi!

Before I get to this week’s card for the Paper Players card I wanted to thank Lisa for choosing my card for her Cut Above from last week’s challenge! You can see the winners post here and my original post here!

I was inspired by Michael’s bright colors in his work to make my card for this week’s Paper Players challenge…

Today’s card begins with a base of Neenah Solar White 110lb Card Stock with the front covered in a piece of Black. I took a piece of Solar White 80lb and used my Mini Ink Blending Tool with some Twisted Citron, Hickory Smoke and Picked Raspberry Distress Ink to create the background. My greeting is from an old Paper Pumpkin Kit and is heat embossed in Hero Arts White Embossing Powder. The background is then adhered to the card with Fun Foam and SNAIL. The cool skull is from the Simon Says Stamp Sugar Skulls Photopolymer Stamp Set and is stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black and cut out with the Coordinating Die. I used my Copics to color him in and then added some Stardust Stickles on some areas for a little sparkle. He’s adhered to the card with Foam Tape. Finally, a few Pretty Pink Posh Charcoal and Essentials By Ellen Iridescent Grey Sequins are scattered around and complete the card. A really bright card for me but I do love that Sugar Skull! Fab Friday 72 & the London Eye

Hello and a happy Friday to you! Brian and I did a lot of wandering around London yesterday. Our first stop was the London Eye, that huge ferris wheel that lets you see all of London on a nice day and it was a very nice day indeed! We actually got lucky and when we went to get on line the guy there moved us over to the quick one and we were on in five minutes. You really can see so much from up there and it takes about 30 minutes to go all the round. The first thing that you notice is Big Ben…

Next up is Charing Cross Station…

When we left we walked across Westminster Bridge and got this nice photo of the Eye…

Today is a Fab Friday and we have a sketch for you this time…

I stayed very true to the sketch, I haven’t used a doily in really long time! LOL! The card base is Neenah Solar White 110lb Card Stock with the front covered in a piece of Blushing Bride. A Tea Lace Paper Doily is adhered to the card with SNAIL and across that is a piece of EK Success Wood Sheet and a strip of Adhesive Cork. I cut a piece of the Crate Paper Kiss Kiss 6×6 Paper Pad with the Simon Says Stamp Stitched Circles and adhered that to the doily with Foam Tape. For the heart I inked a piece of Solar White 80lb with some Simon Says Stamp Teeny Bikini Ink using a Ranger Mini Ink Blending Tool. It’s cut out with the Memory Box Stitched Hearts Layers Dies and adhered to the card with some more Foam Tape. I stamped the greeting from the Simon Says Stamp Locking Hearts Photopolymer Stamp Set in Simon Says Stamp Khaki Ink on the bottom right of the card and added a few Pretty Pink Posh Ballerina Pink Iridescent and Sparkling Clear Sequins to finish the card. I really like the softness of the pink with the woodgrain, it makes for a nice contrast! I hope that you enjoyed my Design Team card for the Fab Friday Sketch challenge! SIP Challenge 9 – A Sketch!

Monday, glad that you are done! It wasn’t too bad of a day at work so no complaints. I came home, ate dinner and then retreated to the Stampin’ Galley to work on some projects! I needed to get a few cards made and I still have a few more to go before I get all caught up! I really do love to end the day with a little creativity! Now if I could just find a way to get to be creative all day! Any suggestions?! LOL! I have some more pictures to share with you today from my adventures with Michael over the weekend!

We just thought that this building was really cool! Love the pops of red!

I’ll have some more pictures for you tomorrow! Now lets get to today’s post which is for this week’s Stamp, Ink, Paper Challenge! This time we have a sketch for you…

I had fun putting together my card and I think that you could use it for a couple of different occasions! The base is Neenah Solar White 110lb Card Stock. I cut out a circle from a piece of Smoky Slate with the Sizzix Circles Framelits and then embossed it with the We R Memory Keepers Woodgrain Embossing Folder. It’s adhered to a piece of Basic Black with Fun Foam and SNAIL. The images are from the Simon Says Stamp Flowers on My Mind Photopolymer Stamp Set. I used Simon Says Stamp Duckling Ink for the flowers and Catkin for the leaves. They are die cut using the matching 2 Flowers and 2 Leaves Craft Dies and adhered in the negative circle with Glue Dots and Foam Tape. My greeting is a piece of Basic Black that I cut out with the Simon Says Stamp Congratulations Wafer Thin Die and it’s adhered to the card with Ranger Multi-Matte Medium. A little Stardust Stickles is added to the centers of the flower and completes the card! I think that this would make a fun Wedding card but also be great just for any time you need a congratulations card! Freshly Made Sketches 189

It was a lovely day yesterday, nice and sunny and a bit warmer than it has been. When I got home from work little Daniel was at my parents. It’s hard to believe but he gets cuter every time that I see him. We had dinner and then Daniel and I played ball on the front porch. He was throwing it over the railing and I was catching it. Then he decided that it would be fun to give me a kiss through each of the banisters! He was so proud of himself! Like I said he just keeps getting cuter! Sandy also stopped by for a bit and then I headed over to Heather’s for Whiskey and Wine night! Always good to have some alone time with Heather!

So… today I have my card for this week’s Freshly Made Sketches challenge…

I need to add some masculine cards to my stash so I had some fun with the By the Tide Set! My card base is Neenah Solar White 110lb Card Stock. The panel on the front is Soft Sky and I used the Circles Collection Framelits to cut out a piece for my shaker. I used Ranger Transparent Gloss Texture Paste and the Simon Says Stamp Falling Snow Stencil to create the shiny bubbles. Some Fun Foam with a matching circle cut out is adhered to the back with SNAIL. I filled the shaker with some seed beads and covered the back with a piece of Vellum and then adhered the panel to the card. My fish is from the By the Tide Stamp Set and is stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black and colored in with a eyeshadow applicator using Island Indigo, Garden Green and Calypso Coral Ink. I used a die to cut out the fish and adhered it to the card with Foam Tape. My greeting is from the Guy Greetings Photopolymer Stamp Set and is heat embossed in White Stampin’ Emboss Powder on Island Indigo and also adhered to the card with Foam Tape. I added some Pretty Pink Posh Sparkling Clear Sequins to the card and coated the fish in Wink of Stella Clear Glitter for a little sparkle! I love the look of the Transparent Texture Paste and the neat seed beads! I hope that you like my card for this week’s Freshly Made Sketches challenge! Thank you so much for visiting me today!
