  • Fab Friday 69

Hello everyone! It’s FRIDAY! Yesterday was another great day! Maggie took Michael’s Baby Book class at Scrap-A-Latte so we were there for most of the day. Everyone loved the class and the book is awesome! I helped out and worked on a few things for Renee. After everyone was done Maggie, Michael and I stopped by the house and Skyped with Andrea for little bit before heading to Friday’s for dinner. When we got back to my house I worked on another card and then we watched some of the videos that I shot from the Sam Smith concert. This morning we are going to head out East for the day and maybe pay a visit to the wineries.

It’s also time for another Fab Friday and this time we have a color combos for you…

    Fab Fri 69 7-24-2015

Today my card begins with a piece of Neenah Solar White 110lb Card Stock for the base. I ran two strips of of Bohemian Designer Washi Tape down the left side. My tag is a piece of Lost Lagoon that I cut out with the Simon Says Stamp Large Tags Die. The flowers are from the Mama Elephant Freestyle Florals Photopolymer Stamp Set and are stamped in Versa-Mark on Blackberry Bliss and Mossy Meadow, heat embossed with White Hero Arts Embossing Powder and cut out with the matching dies. The leaves are adhered to the tag with SNAIL and the flowers with Foam Tape. I tied a piece of May Arts Natural Twine through the top and then adhered the tag to the card with Fun Foam and SNAIL. My greeting is the Mama Elephant Creative Cuts Thanks Script Die. I cut it out twice from Lost Lagoon and adhered them to each other and to the card with Ranger Multi-Matte Medium. Finally a few Pretty Pink Posh Sparkling Clear Sequins are scattered around and complete the card. I really do love the look of white heat embossing for florals, especially on the dark card stock! I hope that you enjoyed my card for the Fab Friday color challenge! Don’t forget to stop by the blog and see what the rest of the Design Team has come up with! Thank you for stopping by today and have a fabulous Friday! 🙂

  • Freshly Made Sketches 196 & Sten-doodle!

It was another great day weather wise here on Long Island! Yesterday I snuck out of work at 3:00 and headed over to Scrap-A-Latte. I brought my supplies with me to make my card for today so I worked on it there while Michael finished preparing for his classes. Last night was his Sten-doodle class and that was a lot of fun! I challenged myself to be as random as possible. Not an easy feat for me who likes things that are very uniform and organized but in the end I really love how my elephant turned out! It was a fun class but quite because everyone was concentrating on tracing and coloring! Heather and Taylor dropped Maggie off around 9:00. It’s so good to have her here! She met everyone and after class Michael, Maggie and I went out to grab a bite to eat. By the time we got home and finished chatting it was 2:00am! Another fantastic day! Here are a few pictures from yesterday!

    Freshly Made Sketches 196

I flipped the sketch for my card that I put together in my head and ran home at lunch to get the supplies to make! The card base is Neenah Solar White 110lb Card Stock with a piece of paper from the Authentique Seaside 6×6 Paper Pad across the bottom. My panel is a piece of Smoky Slate that I cut out with the Lawn Fawn Stitched Journaling Card Die. I also cut out a piece of Soft Sky and then used the Lawn Fawn Ocean Wave Borders to cut them again and adhered the on top of one another with some Foam Tape behind the top one. I stamped the greeting from the Simon Says Stamp Sailing Photopolymer Stamp Set in Memento Tuxedo Black. The boat is from the same set and is colored in with Copic Markers and adhered to the panel with Foam Tape. For the sun and the clouds I used the Lawn Fawn Spring Showers Dies and adhered them to the card with more Foam Tape. The panel is mounted to the card with Fun Foam and SNAIL. Finally, a few Studio Calico Wood Veneer Stars are adhered with Ranger Multi-Purpose Glue. Are you sick of the nautical theme yet?! Clearly I’m not! LOL! I love that little sailboat! I hope that you enjoyed my card for this week’s Freshly Made Sketches challenge and the fun pictures form Michael’s class! Thank you for sharing in my days and have an awesome Thursday! 🙂

  • Mojo Monday 407

Seeing the weekend end is such a bummer! I did have another absolutely fantastic weekend so no complaining! Saturday in Manhattan with Michael and friends at The Ink Pad and then a nice lazy Sunday morning. After a late breakfast with Heather Michael and I worked on some projects and he made two cards and did a post! You have to go and take a look and see what he made by stopping by his BLOG! Around 3:00 we headed out to Michaels and then stopped for some pizza for lunch before taking a little trip over to see my friend Chantal. It has been way too long since I have seen her! We had a nice chat and then stopped back at my house before going to Long Beach. I forget how nice it is to go to the beach and just walk along the ocean and that’s just what we did. Here are a few pictures…

A very nice way to end a great weekend!

But Monday’s are pretty good too because that means that it’s time for this week’s Mojo Monday sketch challenge…

    Mojo407

I got a new toy over the weekend and was dying to try it out! My card begins with a base of Neenah Solar White 110lb Card Stock. I adhered a piece of paper from the Authentique Seaside 6×6 Paper Pad on the lower half and across the top of that is a piece of Real Red. My greeting is from the Simon Says Stamp Sailing Photopolymer Stamp Set and is stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black above the Real Red. The lifesaver and the sailboat are also from the same stamp set and are also stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black. I used Copic Markers to color them in and then cut them out with my Paper Snips. My shaker pocket is created using a stamp pocket from Simon Says Stamp and the new We R Memory Keepers Fuse Tool. I filled it with some Pretty Pink Posh Sequins and then adhered the lifesaver and the Smoky Slate half circle to the pocket. Some SNAIL and Fun Foam then holds the pocket to the card. A little Foam Tape adheres the sailboat to the half circle and a few Studio Calico Wood Veneer Stars are randomly adhered with some Ranger Multi-Matte Medium. I love the Fuse Tool, especially for creating a fun and easy shaker pocket! I’m also having fun playing with the Copic Markers, I still have a long way to go with my coloring however! I really hope that you enjoyed my Design Team card for this week’s Mojo Monday sketch challenge! Be sure and stop by the blog and check out the rest of the Design Teams cards too! Thank you very much for taking some time to visit with me and share in some of my day! I really do appreciate you stopping by and I wish you all a marvelous Monday! 🙂

  • Many Thanks Floral & The Ink Pad!

A good afternoon to you! I had a nice lazy morning and then went out to brunch with Heather and Michael. We just went to the local Deli and sat outside, but it was very nice and quiet. Yesterday I was in Manhattan all day at The Ink Pad. I helped Michael in the morning until Barbara got in. He did a few demos of Color Bursts and Stick-It. As an added bonus Sally Field came into the store with her grandson. She was very sweet and unassuming. After work Michael, Barbara, Jane and I went out to dinner at Umami Burger. We had these sweet potato fries that were covered in maple syrup and bacon, they were absolute heaven! The burgers were quite good too as were the panko onion rings. A very nice way to spend a Saturday! Here is a little shot of the front of The Ink Pad…

So today I have another simple card. I took a piece of Neenah Solar White 110lb Card Stock and stamped the Simon Says Stamp Diagonal Stripes Background Stamp in Pale Blush Pink directly onto the card front. My panel is a piece of Neenah Solar White 80lb, I stamped the flowers in the same pink and the leaves in Green Apple from the Simon Says Stamp Many Thanks Photopolymer Stamp Set. My greeting is stamped in Black and some Fun Foam and SNAIL adheres the panel to the card. A few Pretty Pink Posh Sparkling Clear Sequins give a little shine and complete the card. I hope that you enjoyed my simple Sunday card! Thanks for coming by to visit with me today even though I’m late! Enjoy the rest of your Sunday! 🙂

  • Pals Paper Arts 260

I won’t make a big deal about that fact that it’s Friday even though it’s my favorite day of the week! LOL! Yesterday was another good day! Michael stopped by at work on his way to his Dad’s to say hello. He got to meet some of my work peeps. After work it was off to Scrap-A-Latte for the first night of card class. The Thursday class is always a bit more relaxed and mellow than the Friday’s class so it’s a nice way to see how long it will take to make the cards and if there will be any issues that the students may have. After class I came home and chatted with Heather while I made my card for today. She is leaving for California in two weeks for a little vacation, I’m jealous! Today I have to go to one of the houses for work and then get my haircut after then it’s off to Scrap-A-Latte for night two of class. Tomorrow I’ll be in Manhattan at The Ink Pad with Michael for a little while in the morning and then I’m going to spend some time with Kim. I do love my weekends!

The card that I made last night is for this week’s Pals Paper Arts sketch challenge…

    PPA 260

Today’s card begins with a base of Neenah Solar White 110lb Card Stock. I used the We R Memory Keepers Next Level Geometric Embossing Folder to emboss a piece of Neenah Solar White 80lb. It’s adhered to the card with Fun Foam, SNAIL and Multi-Purpose Glue. I used the Simon Says Stamp Stitched Circles Dies to cut out a piece of So Saffron. The two flags are Melon Mambo and Cucumber Crush. They are adhered behind the circle and then the circle is adhered to the card with more Fun Foam and SNAIL. I stamped the flower from the You’ve Got This Stamp Set in Versa-Mark and the heat embossed it with Hero Arts White Embossing Powder on Watercolor Paper. To color it in I used the Zig Clean Color Real Brush Markers and an Aquapainter. It’s cut out with a die from Dies by Dave and adhered to the card with Foam Tape. Finally my greeting, from the Crazy About You Stamp Set, is stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black on a piece of White and adhered to the card with Foam Tape. I really do love the way a heat embossed and watercolored image looks and the colors in the Zig Pens is really nice and vibrant! I hope that you enjoyed my card for this week’s Pals Paper Arts sketch challenge! Thank you for stopping by and have an awesome Friday! 🙂

  • Freshly Made Sketches 195

It was another dreary day here on Long Island yesterday and it finally poured for about 15 minutes around 5:15 yesterday and then it was done. Michael met me at my house at 3:45 and we headed over to Scrap-A-Latte. I had to cut for class and he wanted to finish working on his baby book. We also got to see Renee’s kids Nicholas and Krista. They left a little early to go to dinner so we locked up. On the way home we stopped and got Hurricane’s Wings for dinner and came back to my house and watched some YouTube videos. Another nice day! So far it’s been a pretty good week and It’s almost Friday! Woo hoo!

My card that I have for you today is for this week’s Freshly Made Sketches challenge…

    Freshly Made Sketches 195

I have been wanting to use a new butterfly die that I acquired and this seemed like a good place for it! My card base is Neenah Solar White 110lb Card Stock. I used the Simon Says Stamp Clustered Leaves Die to cut out some Vellum and adhered it to the card with 2-Way Glue. The Simon Says Stamp Leanna Butterfly is cut from Blushing Bride and Mint Macaroon, the two pink ones are adhered with Multi-Purpose Glue and the mint one with a tiny piece of Foam Tape. I put a Basic Jewel Pearl in the middle of each one. The greeting is cut from Basic Black with the Simon Says Stamp You’re Amazing Die and adhered to the card with some more 2-Way Glue. A few Pretty Pink Posh Sparkling Clear Sequins are scattered around and complete the card and give it a little sparkle. I love the delicate look of the butterflies against the soft vellum leaves! I hope that you enjoyed my card for this week’s Freshly Made Sketches challenge! Thanks for taking a little time from your day to stop by and see me! Have an awesome Thursday! 🙂

  • Paper Players 253

Yay! It’s Wednesday! I always love when we start the wind down into the weekend! Yesterday it was overcast and rained a little but was really humid all day. After the fun filled day at work was done I stopped by my parents to see little Daniel. We played with an old camera and took turns taking pictures of each other. Once he found out how to open the film door that had to be done each time too! He’s so funny. Michael came by around 5:00 and he and I both worked on some projects for a bit before heading out to dinner at Villa Montie. They have the best pizza I think I have ever had and Michael agreed! After that we went to the Broadway Mall to see Jurassic World. It was a really good movie with some amazing special effects! I have decided that I would like my own Velociraptor! LOL! What a fun backyard pet that would make! I also ran into one of my co-workers Mary. Love her!

I have a quick card for you today and it’s for this week’s Paper Players color challenge…

    Paper Players #253

Love those colors!! I saw Jennifer McGuire stamp with White Pigment Ink and then stamp over it with regular ink and have wanted to give it a try, this color combo seemed perfect for that! My card base is Neenah Solar White 110lb Card Stock. I stamped my greeting from the Ellen Hutson Bold Blooms Photopolymer Stamp Set in Smoky Slate. My panel is a piece of Sahara Sand, I stamped the flowers in Hero Arts Unicorn White Ink and then again in Sahara Sand on top of the white. The leaves are then stamped in Mint Macaroon, they are both from the Simon Says Stamp with W Plus 9 Many Thanks Photopolymer Stamp Set. I backed it with a piece of Mint Macaroon and then adhered it to the card with SNAIL and Fun Foam. A very simple card but I love the look of the flowers, so cool! I hope that you enjoyed my card for this week’s Paper Players color challenge! I always appreciate you stopping by so thanks and have a wondrous Wednesday! 🙂

  • SIP Challenge 5 – Theme

I am definitely not a Monday fan! I guess that it gets a bad rap because it follows the gloriousness that is the weekend! LOL! My theory on work this week is proving to be correct, bummer! Oh well, onward and upward right?! After dinner last night Taylor and I ran up to Michaels, she needed to pick up a few things and I needed a frame. When I got back to the house I spoke to Danielle and then FaceTimed with Andrea for a bit. After that I sat down to type my post. Sometimes when I do that I listen to music and last night I dug up an oldie but goodie! Alanis Morissette’s Supposed Former Infatuation Junkie. It was one of my favorite albums when it came out and I used to listen to it on the train on the way home from work almost everyday. I was happy that I remembered the words!

Now on to today’s post for this week’s Stamp, Ink, Paper Challenge

    SIP Any Theme 5

Christmas in July! It’s never too early to think about making some Holiday cards! Maybe this will encourage me to actually get started early! The base for the card is Neenah Solar White 100b Card Stock. I cut out a piece of Cherry Cobbler with the Simon Says Stamp Full Card Triangles Die and adhered it to the base with 2-Way Glue. My tag is cut out with the Pretty Pink Posh Stitched Duo 3 Die from a piece of Garden Green and Mint Macaroon. I ran the Garden Green piece though the Big Shot again to cut out the tree with the Simon Says Stamp Banded Tree Craft Die. My greeting is from the Simon Says Stamp Be Joyful Photopolymer Stamp Set and is heat embossed with Hero Arts White Embossing Powder. The tags are then adhered together with some SNAIL, I threaded some Lawn Fawn Green Sparkle Lawn Trimmings Twine though the hole that I punched out. A few strips of Foam Tape adhere it to the card. Not too complicated and I love the Mint Macaroon with the Garden Green, oh and the triangle background that echoes the tree shape! I hope that you enjoyed my Design Team card for this week’s Stamp, Ink, Paper Challenge! Now head on over to the blog and check out the other Design Team members cards. Don’t forget to enter one of your creations in the gallery! Thanks for checking in with me and have an amazing Tuesday! 🙂

  • Mojo Monday 406

A quiet Sunday, necessary I guess. I did run over to Scrap-A-Latte to drop off two of the cards for this week’s class. I had to pick out some different paper for the other two, I didn’t like the original ones that I choose. Other than that I just worked on projects, did laundry and watched a little TV. I really do find it hard to do nothing by myself, odd huh? This week at work should be loads of fun said no one ever! Hopefully it will be a quick one!

It’s Monday so that means that it’s time for this week’s Mojo Monday sketch challenge…

    Mojo406

I got stuck on the greeting and that is how the rest of today’s card came into being! The card base is Neenah Solar White 110lb Card Stock. My background is a piece of Smoky Slate and Basic Gray that are adhered to a piece of White. I heat embossed the Hero Arts with Studio Calico Tiny Star Background Stamp with some White Hero Arts Embossing Powder. The patterned paper is from the Studio Calico Atlantic Collection Paper Pad and is backed with some Neenah Solar White 80lb. My greeting is from the Simon Says Stamp Hand Lettered Encouragement Photopolymer Stamp Set and is heat embossed in Ranger Silver Embossing Powder on Basic Black. I used a piece of Silver Glimmer Paper and the Simon Says Stamp Sketch Star Die for my embellishment. I love all of the stars and I didn’t realize that the patterned paper and the background stamp are coordinated until I typed this post! LOL! • Freshly Made Sketches 194

Hello peeps! What a great day we had in Manhattan yesterday! Michael and I met up with Kim and Angie at her old apartment around 9:15 and then headed over to the diner for some breakfast. After that we hopped into a cab and went down to the new apartment. Kim said that the movers finished the entire move in three hours on Friday, that’s pretty fast! Michael and I put the bookcase back together, we did have to run out to Home Depot to get a bit, but it was done in no time! We stopped at Baker Street for a yummy lunch and after that we headed over to Bed, Bath & Beyond to pick up some necessities. I got a text from my friend Isabella to stop by for tea so Michael and I went over to her apartment. We had a nice chat, Michael and Isabella talked about the art in Brasil and Argentina. From there we went back to meet Kim and Angie to go back uptown to get my car and headed over to see Bev and Jason on the West Side. After a nice visit with them Michael and I headed back out to the Island. What a great way to spend a Saturday!

Here are some pictures from the roof deck of my friend Kim’s new apartment…

You can see the 59th Street Bridge through the buildings!

    KD Apt Tram

If you look closely there is the tram to Roosevelt Island in the middle of the picture.

And off in the distance is the top of the Citibank Building!

Today I have a quick card for this week’s Freshly Made Sketches challenge…

    Freshly Made Sketches 194

I wanted to do a little inking with some of the new Tim Holtz Distress colors so I created a simple birthday card. The base is Neenah Solar White 110lb Card Stock. I used a Tim Holtz Mini Ink Blending Tool and some Cracked Pistachio and Mermaid Lagoon on two pieces of Neenah Solar White 80lb. They are then cut out with the Lawn Fawn Party Balloons Lawn Cuts. I also used the dies to cut some Black Card Stock for the balloon strings. My sentiment is from the Simon Says Stamp Handwritten Borders Photopolymer Stamp Set and is stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black. The balloons are adhered to the card with SNAIL and Foam Tape, the strings with 2-Way Glue. A fun simple birthday card, I love the way the blended ink gives the balloons some cool texture! I hope that you enjoyed my card for this week’s Freshly Made Sketches challenge. I always appreciate you stopping by to share in my day and I wish you a stupendous Sunday! 🙂
