Freshly Made Sketches 196 & Sten-doodle!

It was another great day weather wise here on Long Island! Yesterday I snuck out of work at 3:00 and headed over to Scrap-A-Latte. I brought my supplies with me to make my card for today so I worked on it there while Michael finished preparing for his classes. Last night was his Sten-doodle class and that was a lot of fun! I challenged myself to be as random as possible. Not an easy feat for me who likes things that are very uniform and organized but in the end I really love how my elephant turned out! It was a fun class but quite because everyone was concentrating on tracing and coloring! Heather and Taylor dropped Maggie off around 9:00. It’s so good to have her here! She met everyone and after class Michael, Maggie and I went out to grab a bite to eat. By the time we got home and finished chatting it was 2:00am! Another fantastic day! Here are a few pictures from yesterday!

The card that I made at the store is for this week’s Freshly Made Sketches challenge…

Freshly Made Sketches 196

I flipped the sketch for my card that I put together in my head and ran home at lunch to get the supplies to make! The card base is Neenah Solar White 110lb Card Stock with a piece of paper from the Authentique Seaside 6×6 Paper Pad across the bottom. My panel is a piece of Smoky Slate that I cut out with the Lawn Fawn Stitched Journaling Card Die. I also cut out a piece of Soft Sky and then used the Lawn Fawn Ocean Wave Borders to cut them again and adhered the on top of one another with some Foam Tape behind the top one. I stamped the greeting from the Simon Says Stamp Sailing Photopolymer Stamp Set in Memento Tuxedo Black. The boat is from the same set and is colored in with Copic Markers and adhered to the panel with Foam Tape. For the sun and the clouds I used the Lawn Fawn Spring Showers Dies and adhered them to the card with more Foam Tape. The panel is mounted to the card with Fun Foam and SNAIL. Finally, a few Studio Calico Wood Veneer Stars are adhered with Ranger Multi-Purpose Glue. Are you sick of the nautical theme yet?! Clearly I’m not! LOL! I love that little sailboat! I hope that you enjoyed my card for this week’s Freshly Made Sketches challenge and the fun pictures form Michael’s class! Thank you for sharing in my days and have an awesome Thursday! 🙂

  1. Good Morning Justin –

Such a happy card from such a happy guy! LOL Love it. It screams summer sun and lots of fun. The Seaside paper on the bottom is the perfect touch to the fun scene you have created as the main part of the top panel. Bright, beautiful and brilliant! Can you tell I love it? LOL

Thanks for sharing the photos. Maggie Mata is so dang cute and really looks tiny between you and Michael. I know you are all having a blast and that is as it should be. I think after all the excitement of this summer you guys are going to be bored silly come wintah! Have yourself a Thursday filled with laughter and excitement. Love and Hugs, XO 🙂

    1. Hi Grace!
Playing catch up! LOL! I am really stuck on the nautical theme lately! I’m happy that you love the card, I loved making it!
I love Maggie! She is such an awesome person! She is very tiny, and to think that she was in Afghanistan! I am not going to know what to do with myself come September! I hope that you enjoyed your weekend! XOXOXO 🙂

  2. I absolutely love your elephant! Your designs seem organized and each section seems pretty uniform unto itself. The colors you used make the little fella come alive.
As for sea themes, I for one will never tire of them. After growing up at the Atlantic coast of NJ, we had to settle for property overlooking the Ohio River or be landlocked. I must have the sea one way or another. Your card today does it for me. I love the motif on the corner of the seaside paper. The waves evoke the water! I feel the boat rocking. Keep them coming. Love your photos of the peeps and the store. I must get over to our only stamping store left in our area. I will make a point of it and give you a report, probably in August. Get some sleep before you crash. You know what tomorrow is and you don’t want to waste your weekend sleeping! Love ya, Nancy B

    1. Thank you so much Nancy! I had so much fun being random! So not like me! Michael is a very inspiring person!
I am really loving the nautical theme lately! So many fun things and it does scream summer! It’s sad that I forget that I live so close to the beach! We need to go to our local stores to keep them in business or soon they will all be gone! Sleep, what’s that?! LOL! 🙂

  3. Fantastic elephant! It looks like a fun class, though you said it was quiet everyone has super happy faces in the pictures.
