Create with Connie and Mary 243

Good morning! If you are seeing this post that means that my 3:30am airport run was successful and I have made it into Manhattan. One little flaw in my plan for today was that the St. Patrick’s Day Parade is today… hopefully I will miss the aftermath of it entirely. Fingers crossed! I’m not really a huge fan of all of the drunk people wandering from bar to bar in the city. When I worked in Manhattan I used to dread when St. Patrick’s Day fell on a weekday. I’m not a huge drinker and I’m definitely not a fan of public intoxication and all of the humiliation that goes along with it. I am wishing now that I was on that plane to Mexico with my friend Kim!

Enough of that now on to today’s post which is for this week’s Create with Connie and Mary. The ladies have provided us with a nice simple sketch…

CCMC 243

The base of my card is Daffodil Delight Card Stock and I used a piece of paper from the Parker’s Patters Designer Series Paper Pack for the background. The middle panel is created using the Scallop Trim Border and Scallop Trim Corner Punches. The are a ton of tutorials on the web showing how to get it to go around the square perfectly. I used the one on Gretchen Barron’s site, I think she did a great job explaining it! I used Crumb Cake to make mine and the greeting is from the Pursuit of Happiness Stamp Set and is stamped in Not Quite Navy on Whisper White. The flagged piece is also from the Parker’s Patterns DSP, I think the patterns in the paper are called Ikat. On the left side I used one of the Silver Basic Designer Buttons backed with a piece of Early Espresso that I punched out with the 7/8″ Scallop Circle Punch and adhered to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. I love the Parker’s Patterns DSP, it has a nice masculine feel to it. I hope that you enjoyed my Create with Connie and Mary card for this week’s challenge. Thank you for all of your congratulations on my Fab Friday Design Team announcement yesterday, I appreciate them! I hope that you have a nice safe Saturday! 🙂

Freshly Made Sketches #77

Hello everyone, how are we today? I’m good but that was one big bad Wednesday! I’m glad that’s done and we are almost at Friday! It was a really nice and sunny day here on Long Island yesterday. The weatherman said that it’s just a taste and that today it will be in the 20’s! It was 50 degrees here yesterday, that’s quite a drop! Time for the thick coat once again, maybe for the last time… we can only hope. 🙂 A quick thank you to Theresa for pointing out that I forgot that I used the Dotted Scallop Ribbon Border punch on the right side of the main panel of the card that I posted yesterday! 🙂

So, for today’s post I have my Freshly Made Sketches card for this week’s challenge. I have to say that I really like their re-design that they did over on their blog. This week we have a sketch from Jennifer T….

Freshly Made Sketches #77

I have been having a very good run with my visual memory this week. I saw the sketch and immediately thought of the new Best of Flowers Stamp Set. For the base of my card I used a piece of Basic Black Card Stock and the background is a piece of First Edition Specialty Designer Series Paper. A strip of Lucky Limeade is embossed using the Borders Scoring Plate. I pierced the right side and a “Vintage” Sweet Shop Jelly Bean Brad is placed there and some SNAIL and Sticky Strip hold it to the card. The layer behind the main image is a piece of Primrose Petals that I embossed with the Chevron Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. The main image, as I mentioned before, is from the Best of Flowers Stamp Set and I used my Primrose Petals and Lucky Limeade Stampin’ Write Markers to ink it. The greeting is from the Essentials Wood Mount Set and is stamped in Basic Black. I backed it with a piece of Basic Black and adhered it to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. I love the way the black looks with the Primrose and Limeade, it gives it a touch of elegance. I hope that you like my Freshly Made Sketches Card for this week’s challenge from Jennifer T. It’s always a pleasure to have you visit and leave me a comment, I hope that you have a super Thursday!

Paper Craft Crew Sketch 33

TGIW! Thank god we are halfway through the week. I don’t know what is up at work lately but I want to run! LOL! I just think I need a little mental health day, have I mentioned that before?! The weather didn’t help with the mood, it was gloomy and rainy all day. Again, it’ better than snow! Hehehe! I have a something funny to tell you. My friend Kim is going away and I offered to take her to the airport before I asked the time of the flight. The flight is 6:00am Saturday, which means that we have to leave my house at 3:30am. What have we learned? To ask what time the flight is first! LOL! I would have done it anyway, but it’s pretty funny no?!?!

Since today is Wednesday that means it’s Paper Craft Crew day! This week we have a sketch for you…

PCCCCS033 TCC St. Pat 3-13-2013

I do love a square card! I did something that I thought was a little cool with the sentiment on the card too. The base of the card is Elegant Eggplant Card Stock. The background is a piece of Very Vanilla that I stamped with the En Francais Background Stamp in More Mustard. The panel in the middle is stamped with an element from the Oh, Hello! Stamp Set in Elegant Eggplant. I backed it with a piece of Elegant Eggplant and adhered it to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. The flower is made by punching two pieces of Elegant Eggplant put with the 7/8″ Scallop Circle Punch and using my Paper Snips to cut the petals. I put a Basic Glimmer Brad in the middle and fluffed up the petals. The leaves are punched out from Always Artichoke using the Blossom Petals Builder Punch. A small strip of More Mustard is flagged and adhered to the panel and the flower is adhered with a Stampin’ Dimensional. The greeting is stamped in More Mustard on Vellum Card Stock. I used my Heat Tool to speed the drying and then a strip of More Mustard hides the Stampin’ Dimensional that I adhered it to the card with. I really like the way the greeting stands away from the background but you can still see it. I will definitely do this again, I really like the effect. I hope that you enjoy my Paper Craft Crew Design Team Sketch card for this week’s challenge. Let me know what you think of the greeting and thank you so much for checking in with me. I hope that you have a wonderful Wednesday! 🙂

Pals Paper Arts 154

Yup, it’s Monday again! Ugh! Anyway, enough complaining. Did you all have a good weekend? I had a nice one. I spent some time with the child and got some crafting done. Next weekend I’m going to try and fit in some relaxing, we’ll see how that goes. The weather you ask… LOL… it was a bit chillier than they said it was going to be yesterday but I have high hopes for today. High as in temperature!

Today I have my Pals Paper Arts card for you. This time the fine folks over there have given us a color challenge…

PPA 154

A different color combination, not one that I would have thought of. The base of my card is Raspberry Ripple Card Stock. The paper I used for the background is from the Print Poetry Designer Series Paper Stack. For the greeting I choose the Vintage Verses Stamp Set from Sale-A-Bration. I stamped it on a Very Vanilla Square in Calypso Coral and backed it with a piece of Calypso Coral. I used the Labels Collection Framelits Dies to cut out the middle of a piece of Raspberry Ripple and adhered it over the greeting with Stampin’ Dimensionals. The flower is punched out from a piece of Calypso Coral with the Itty Bitty Shapes Punch Pack and there is a Basic Jewel Pearl in the middle. I stamped the butterflies from the Bloomin’ Marvelous Stamp Set, also from Sale-A-Bration, in Calypso Coral on Very Vanilla. They are adhered to the card with Mini Glue Dots and I slightly bent the wings up a little. I like the color combination a lot more than I thought I would. The three colors actually go quite well together. I hope you enjoyed my Pals Paper Arts Color Challenge card and as always, thank you very much for visiting! I hope you have an interesting Monday!

Paper Players 136 :-)

A very good Sunday morning to you all! Did you forget to spring forward? If it has the word spring in it I will definitely remember! We loose an hour but it’s a for a good cause, warmer weather is on the way. It was actually pretty nice here yesterday. Most of the snow is gone and I think it got up to around 50 degrees. It was so nice that I did drive around with top down on the car, just for a little while. 🙂

Sunday means it’s time for this week’s Paper Players Challenge. As always, before I get to this week I want to congratulate Stacey for being my choice for Cut Above for last weeks In Stitches challenge. You can see the winners list here. This week we have a color challenge for the wonderful Nance…

Paper Players #136 Color 3-10-2013

I was a little worried when I first saw this combination but after playing for a bit I love it! The base of my card is Early Espresso Card Stock. I used some White Stampin’ Emboss Powder and my heat tool to emboss the greeting from the Vintage Verses Stamp Set from Sale-A-Bration right on the base. Directly above that is a piece of paper from the Brights Collection Designer Series Paper Pack. Next, I adhered a Tea Lace Paper Doily with some SNAIL. The tag is created with my Simply Scored and some Pool Party. I used the Little Leaves Sizzlit to cut out two piece of Lucky Limeade. The rolled paper roses are made using the 2 1/2″ Circle Punch and some Regal Rose. A little inward circular cutting with my Paper Snips and some hot glue and they are ready to be adhered to the card with Mini Glue Dots. The butterflies are from the Papillon Potpourri Stamp Set. I stamped them in Regal Rose and used the Elegant Butterfly and Bitty Butterfly Punches to punch them out. Some Stampin’ Dimensionals adhere both them and the tag to the card. I have been wanting to make some rolled paper roses for a while, I don’t know why I put it off for so long, they were super easy to make. I hpoe that you enjoyed my Paper Players Guest Designer card for this week’s color challenge from Nance. Thank for checking in with me today and I hope that you enjoy your Sunday!

Trans-Atlantic Thanks

Yeah! Happy Saturday! Thank god that week is done. It really did feel like the longest week ever. I wasn’t the only one who felt that way, I took a poll. So it snowed here most of the day yesterday. I think the total was 8 inches but the funny thing was after 12:00PM the more it snowed the less there was on the ground. I don’t think I have ever seen that before. I’m looking forward to the warmer temperatures this week. I don’t have any plans for this weekend, just going to lay low and get some crafting done, how about you?

Today’s post is for a card that I made to send to my Aunt in England. She is a wonderful person, very kind and generous. I needed a card that would be able to make the journey so I had to keep the embellishments to a minimum. I also thought that something English on the card would be fun. The base of the card is Very Vanilla Card Stock. I used my Stamp-a-ma-jig to stamp the border from the Sent with Love Stamp Set in Riding Hood Red. The stamps on the card are from a long retired set called Office Ephemera. I got it from ebay a while ago, mainly for the script and stamp images. I stamped them in Sahara Sand randomly. The phone box is from the Feeling Sentimental Stamp Set from Sale-A-Bration and is stamped in Basic Black and cut out with the Ovals Framelits. The greeting is form the Oh, Hello! Stamp Set and is stamped in Riding Hood Red with the right side flagged. Both the oval and the greeting are adhered to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. I love the border from the Sent with Love set and the way it gives the card that airmail feel. I hope that you enjoyed my Trans-Atlantic Thank You and thank you f0r stopping by today! Here’s to an very enjoyable Saturday!

Create with Connie and Mary 242

Woo hoo! It’s FRIDAY!! I am so happy that this week is over, it seemed much longer than any week in recent history. Work was really busy and will be for a while, can’t wait for that to stop too. How are you all doing today? Well, it snowed here last night and we got about 3 inches. On a positive note it’s supposed to be in the 50’s over the weekend, crazy weather but I’ll take it!

For today’s post I have my Create with Connie and Mary Challenge card. This week the dynamic duo have given us a color challenge…

CCMC 242

I have to say that these are some of my favorite colors, especially Summer Starfruit. 🙂 My inspiration for today’s card came from Pinterest. The base of my card is Summer Starfruit Card Stock. I took a piece of Very Vanilla used my Summer Starfruit Stampin’ Write Marker and the Color Spritzer Tool (that I forget I have even though it was one of the first tools that I got from Stampin’ Up!) to make a nice subtle background for my card. The large flagged piece is Raspberry Ripple. I used the Borders Scoring Plate with my Simply Scored Scoring Tool to make the zig zag pattern on it and flagged the bottom. Some SNAIL adheres it to the card. Next up is a piece of Primrose Petals that I cut out with the Delicate Doilies Large Sizzlit and cut in half. The greeting is from the Oh, Hello! Stamp Set and is stamped in Raspberry Ripple on Very Vanilla. I spritzed it too and put a thin strip of Primrose Petals across the top before I flagged the bottom. Behind it is a piece of Summer Starfruit that is again flagged. I used one of the Designer Builder Brads on the top. For the center image I stamped the banner image from the Itty Bitties Stamp Set in Summer Starfruit, punched it out with the Itty Bitty Punch Pack and adhered it with some Multipurpose Glue before I adhered the epoxy dome to it. The whole piece is adhered to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. I love the simplicity of the card and you know I love some flags! I hope that you enjoyed my Create with Connie and Mary card for this week’s color challenge. Thanks for stopping by and I hope that you have an awesome Friday!!

Paper Craft Crew Sketch 32

Good morning! How are you all today? I always get better as the week goes along because we are getting closer to Friday! We are supposed to have some nasty weather later on today. They are saying high winds and 2 – 5 inches of snow. Sigh… I would like no more snow please! Sometimes they are wrong, I would like this to be one of those times! 🙂

Wednesday means it’s time for this week’s Paper Craft Crew Challenge. This time around we have a fun sketch…

PCCCCS032 TMM HB 3-06-2013

I wanted to mix some of the old with the new and that’s what I did for this card. The base of the card is Pool Party Card Stock. The background is created with the En Francais Background Stamp inked up in Summer Starfruit and stamped onto Whisper White. The strip of card stock across the top half is Soft Suede that I embossed with the Delicate Designs Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. For the main image I stamped the script from the French Foliage Stamp Set in Summer Starfruit and then the Eiffel Tower from the Artistic Etchings Stamp Set in Soft Suede. The Oval Collection Framelits Dies are used to cut it out and a piece of Summer Starfruit to back it with. I used the Delicate Doilies Large Sizzlit to cut out a piece of Pool Party and I adhered all of the pieces together with SNAIL and then to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. The flag is a piece of Whisper White that I stamped with the Beyond Plaid Stamp Set in Soft Suede and cut out with the Hearts a Flutter Framelits Dies. Before I adhered it to the card I flagged the end of a piece of Pool Party Seam Binding Ribbon and tucked it underneath the Soft Suede strip. One of the Soda Pop Tops is adhered with a Mini Glue Dot with another image from the French Foliage Stamp Set stamped in Soft Suede and punched out with the 1″ Circle Punch. The greeting is stamped in Soft Suede and cut out with the Bitty Banners Framelits Dies and adhered to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. Sometimes I get so caught up in the creating that I forget how many different products I used until I go and write the post! I used a lot on this one! It has a somewhat clean vintage feel to it and I love the colors together. I hope that you enjoyed my Design Team card for this week’s Paper Craft Crew Sketch Challenge. Don’t forget to go to the Paper Craft Crew blog and see what my fellow DT members have for you this week. As always I would love to see one of your cards in the gallery! Thank you far taking some time out of your day to visit with me. Have a great day! 🙂

So here we are at Tuesday. I try to think of new ways to start the post all the time, it’s not easy! LOL! I do want to take a minute to thank all of you for leaving comments (I respond to every one!) and for your “likes”. When I say that I do this for all of you I really do mean it. Your comments and visits keep me wanting to do more! So thank you all very much!! It was windy and chilly but sunny here yesterday. They are saying snow possible on Wednesday night again but we put the clocks forward this weekend so spring is getting closer!

Tuesday means it’s Mojo Monday time. This week we have a sketch from Carole Burrage…

Mojo283

I know I have said it before but sometimes I just look at a sketch and the whole card just appears in my mind. I LOVE when that happens! The base of today’s card is Very Vanilla Card Stock. For the background and the panels I used some Tea for Two Designer Series Paper. It has a very nice and really coordinated assortment of vintage patterns and really great colors. The stamped image is from the From My Heart Stamp Set and is Stamped in Early Espresso, cut out with a Sizzix Circle Framelit, and again in Lucky Limeade and cut out with my Paper Snips. All of the pieces are mounted to each other and the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. A little Soda Pop Top with the butterfly image from the Itty Bitties Stamp Set stamped in Calypso Coral and punched out with the 1/2″Circle Punch is adhered to the card with a Mini Glue Dot. I really love the simplicity of the card and I always like a little fussy cutting! I hope that you enjoyed my card for this week’s Mojo Monday Sketch Challenge. Thanks again for stopping by and for you comments, I hope you all have a fantastic day! 🙂

SplitCoast Creative Crew March Challenges

Oh Monday, why must you arrive so soon?! Did you all have a good weekend? Mine was pretty good. I mentioned that I was going to the Chocolate Expo yesterday and I have to tell you I was not impressed. The place was way too small and there were far too many people and not nearly enough vendors. I think I will cross that off my list for next year! We did go to lunch after and that was fun, so not a total loss!

Today I have my cards for this month’s SplitCoast Creative Crew Challenges. The challenges are quite fun, I have a really good time making the cards for them. They also have a scrapbook page challenge, but I don’t do that one, I will one day! There are three cards in all so let’s get to the first one.

First up I have the card for the Holiday Focus and here is the challenge: Holiday Focus: Travel the road of words. Quote someone. Over the years Stampin’ Up! has quoted many people in their stamp. Use a wonderful quote as a focal point in your project. (You may use any quote that SU! has ever produced, even retired, but you must let us know the year of the stamp and the stampset name.)

I choose the Pursuit of Happiness Stamp Set and the quote is: “Do your little bit of good where you are. It’s those little bits of good put together that overwhelm the world” -Desmond Tutu. I stamped the sentiment on a piece of Window Sheet in Staz-On Opaque White Ink. Along the bottom I adhered a piece of cork shelf liner that I picked up from a home improvement store. The balloons are from the Collage Curios Stamp Set and are stamped in Tangerine Tango and cut out with my Paper Snips. Some Stampin’ Dimensionals adhere them to the Window Sheet. The card itself is a piece of Pacific Point Card stock. I stamped the image from The Open Sea Stamp Set in Pacific Point that I punched out with the 2 1/2″ Circle Punch. I like when you look at the card the balloons seem to float over it. They are like the little bits of good!

The second card I have for you is for the Catalog Focus Challenge which is: Catalog Focus: Check out the Fan Fair Product Suite in the IBC, pp.106-117. Romance us with Elements of Style or Everything Eleanor. Take us away with Postage Due or Papillon Potpourri. Intrigue us with Daydream Medallions or Nature’s Price. Choose any of the beautiful stamp sets in this suite and amaze us!

I thought it would be neat to mix some of the suite with some Sale-A-Bration. The base of the card is Crumb Cake Card Stock. The main panel is a piece of Fan Fair Designer Series Paper that I backed with a piece of Crumb Cake for a little more heft. I stamped the phone box from the Feeling Sentimental Stamp Set in Riding Hood Red and the greeting is from the Vintage Verses, stamped in Island Indigo. The stamps along the edge are from the Postage Due Stamp Set and are stamped in Riding Hood Red and Island Indigo, I punched them out with the Postage Stamp Punch. The main panel is adhered to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. For a little extra I stamped the tickets from the That’s the Ticket Stamp Set in More Mustard, punched them out with the Ticket Duo Builder Punch and held them in place with a clip from the Hung Up Cute Clips Set. I really like the way that all 0f the sets work so well together!

CCREW0313DF

The third and final card is for the DSP Challenge:DSP/Color Focus: Let’s soar with the wonderful Fan Fair DSP and Island Indigo, which will be gone soon. Create a project with Island indigo and Fan Fair DSP or some of the colors in that DSP. You must use island indigo, though.

A simple birthday card was my thinking for  this challenge. The base of the card is Sahara Sand Card Stock. I used a piece of the Fan Fair Designer Series Paper and backed it with a piece of Island Indigo. The Gossamer Lace Wood Mount Stamp is stamped in Sahara Sand and I used the Essentials Paper-Piercing Pack and Paper-Piercing Tool to pierce the edge. The greeting is from the Best of Birthday’s Stamp Set and is stamped in Island Indigo, I punched it out with the Extra Large Oval Punch. Both pieces are adhered to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. It needed a little something more so I cut out some Riding Hood Red with the Beautiful Wings Embosslit and adhered them with some Stampin’ Dimensional pieces. I really like the Gossamer Lace as a backdrop and the piercing looks pretty neat around it.

CCREW0313DF

I hope that you enjoyed my cards for this month’s SplitCoast Creative Crew Challenge. Head on over to the gallery and see all of the other great projects the rest of the Design Team has come up with. You should play along too and have some fun! Hope to see your creations there. Thanks for taking some time to spend with me today. I hope that you all have a good Monday!
