Retro Scallop Garden Thanks

Wow! Sunday already?! Time is just chugging along! LOL! I had a nice day yesterday, I got some projects finished in the morning and then headed into Manhattan with Anthony and Bill to see Harmony Sweepstakes at the Miller Theater at Columbia University. We had a great time and it was sold out! Andrew and his group Satellite Lane won Audience Favorite for the second year in a row! They also won for best choreography! Congratulations to them on two well deserved wins! We hit up the diner after and I had some pancakes, haven’t had those in a while! I did manage to snap two quick pictures, the first one is of the outside of the theater…

And here is of one of the statues that stands outside a set of gates next to the theater. If you click on the picture and look he has six toes, I thought that was interesting!

Every so often when I’m working on a project I stop for a bit and make a just for fun card. I know, it’s odd that when you are working on craft projects that you would stop and make another one to take a break but that’s what I do! Today’s card is one of those.

The card uses a base of Whisper White Card Stock and I covered the entire front with a piece of Kaleidoscope Designer Series Paper. Two strips of Retro Fresh Designer Washi Tape go across the bottom. The tag is made using the Scallop Tag topper Punch. I trimmed the sides off to get a thinner tag and stamped the tag with one of the Paper Pumpkin Stamps in Gumball Green. The flower and leaves are from the Secret Garden Stamp Set and are both cut out with the Secret Garden Framelits. The leaves are stamped in Gumball Green and the Flower is heat embossed with White Stampin’ Emboss Powder on Daffodil Delight and sponged with some White Craft Ink. My greeting is from the Oh, Hello Stamp Set and is heat embossed in Tangerine Tango on a piece of Vellum Card Stock and adhered just under the flower. The tag has some White Bakers Twine on the top and Stampin’ Dimensionals adhere it to the card. I really am having fun with Vellum lately, it adds so much to a card. I also like the subtle background with the bold colors. I hope you enjoyed today’s just for fun card! Pals Paper Arts 196

The weekend is better when it starts a day earlier! I had a nice day yesterday, I did manage to get all of the stuff done that I wanted to. I even got to have lunch with my friend Kim and that was nice. Heather and I went to dinner last night to celebrate a friends birthday with a bunch of people. We had a great time, there was even some fire pit afterwards! Tonight Andrew’s group Satellite Lane is competing in the Regional Harmony Sweeps in Manhattan, that should be fun! Wish them luck!

For today I have my card for this week’s Pals Paper Arts challenge. This week we have a sketch from Margaret Moody…

As you all know I have been having lots of fun playing with my E-Cutter. Mainly I have used it to cut out greetings but today I tried something a little different. My card starts off with a base of Real Red Card Stock. My background is a piece of paper from the Fresh Prints Designer Series Paper Stack, adhered over to the left to go with the sketch. For my greeting I choose a stamp from the Everyday Occasions Card Kit and stamped it in Coastal Cabana on Whisper White and backed it with a piece of Baked Brown Sugar. That large triangle is from the Geometrical Stamp Brush Set and is resized and cut out with my E-Cutter. Some Stampin’ Dimensionals pieces adhere it to the card. It really is quite cool what detailed and crisp cuts you can get using a Stamp Brush Set and the E-Cutter. I love the way the triangle looks over the DSP! I hope that my foray into using my E-Cutter inspires you to give it a try and that you enjoyed today’s card for this week’s Pals Paper Arts sketch challenge. Freshly Made Sketches 128

A very happy Friday to you! It is extra happy for me because I’m off from work today. I needed a mental health day! I also have a lot of things that I need to get done and the best time for me to do that is when everyone thinks I’m someplace else! LOL! Yesterday was pleasant but windy and today is supposed to be nice. I plan to get lots of things done today, wish me luck! Tonight I’ll be out to dinner with Heather which is always a good time! What’s going on by you for this evening?

My card today is for this week’s Freshly Made Sketches. I want to thank the talented Amy for picking me as her Perfect Prince for last week’s challenge! You can see my original post HERE and the Freshly Made Sketches winners post HERE. This week we have a super simple sketch from clever Rita…

I looked at it and put the card together in my head! Love that! My card starts off with a base of Basic Black Card Stock. Another piece of Basic Black serves as the base for me to adhere some Silver Fancy Foil Designer Vellum and Modern Medley Designer Series Paper to. A piece of Brushed Silver Metallic goes across the middle. I used some more of the Silver Fancy Foil Designer Vellum and my Envelope Punch Board to crate the bow. Some more Brushed Silver Metallic holds it together and a Mini Glue Dot adheres it to the band. My greeting is from the Label Card Thinlits Dies and is cut out from a piece of Silver Foil Sheet and adhered to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. Not an overly complicated card but I love the softness that the vellum provides, especially to the bow. The two different finishes on the silver give it just a little sparkle and shine. I also didn’t realize until I was finished that there is no stamping on the card! I hope that you enjoyed my card for this week’s Freshly Made Sketches challenge. Control Freaks March Blog Tour!

It’s that time again! Welcome to this month’s Control Freaks Blog Tour! This month our theme is Spring/Easter. Speaking of Spring, I’m hoping that the weather cooperates, I’m pretty done with Winter as I’m sure that all of you are too! If you are following the tour you have arrived here from the talented Debbie Henderson’s blog. This month I have two cards and one fun project inspired by friend Nicole from work.

Up first I have a fun bright card that definitely feels like Spring. The card base is a piece of Whisper White Card Stock. I took another piece of Whisper White and stamped it with the Simple Stems Stamp Set in Coastal Cabana, Daffodil Delight and Perfect Plum randomly. Next up is a piece of Gingham Garden Designer Series Paper. My greeting is from the Memorable Moments Stamp Brush Set and cut out from a piece of Elegant Eggplant with my E-Cutter. The you is from the Countless Sayings 1 Photopolymer Stamp Set and is stamped in Elegant Eggplant. I used the 3/16″ Corner Rounder on the corners of the DSP and adhered it to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. My flagged piece of Whisper White is stamped with a stamp from the Perfect Pennants Stamp Set in Perfect Plum. A piece of twine from the Sweet Sorbet Accessory Pack is tied in a bow and adhered with a Mini Glue Dot. To finish the card I used the 1″ Circle Punch to punch out a piece of Eastern Elegance Designer Series Paper. In the middle is a piece of Elegant Eggplant, punched out with the Itty Bitty Shapes Punch Pack and I used some Crystal Effects on it to give it some shine.

Next up is a card that reminds me of a country picnic. The base is Daffodil Delight Card Stock, a piece of Gingham Garden Designer Washi Tape goes across the top. Some Gingham Garden Designer Series Paper Is flagged and also used for the center of the Tea Lace Paper Doily, punched out with the 2 1/2″ Circle Punch. The tag is from the Notable Notions Stamp Set and is stamped in Island Indigo. I used the Chalk Talk Framelits Dies to cut it out and stamped the flowers from the Springtime Hello Stamp Set, stamped in Pear Pizzaz. Tucked under the tag is a piece of 1 1/4″ Burlap Ribbon that is flagged too. My greeting is also from the Notable Notions Stamp Set, I stamped it in Night of Navy on one of the Essentials Wooden Elements. Love that it fits right on there!

My final project is the one that I mentioned was inspired by my friend Nicole. She came into work one day with her Country Living Magazine and showed me this neat project. It was a set of coasters made from Mason Jar lids with some cork that was stamped with Staz-On. I thought they were so cool and would make a fun gift. I found some lids on Amazon and I already had a ton of the adhesive cork sheet. I cut the cork sheet out using my Circles Collection Framelits. The images are from the By the Tide Stamp Set and are stamped in Jet Black Staz-On. I decided that they needed to be dressed up a bit so I used one of the Mini Muslin Bags and stamped the lobster from the same set in Cherry Cobbler. My tag is made with the Angled Tag Topper Punch and still more of the stamps are stamped in Marina Mist, Soft Suede and Smoky Slate. I slid the coasters in and tied the tag to the bag. Pretty neat little gift right?! Nicole thought they were!

Have I mentioned that it’s still pretty cold here?! I’m hoping that when the first day of Spring arrives that weather just changes! What do you think the chances of that happening are?! I can always hope! LOL! Yesterday is a bit of a blur, work was busy and I came home and worked on some projects and by the time I looked at the time it was 9:30. My neck is feeling a little better, I followed some advice from Grace and it helped immensely! Thanks! 🙂

It’s Wednesday so that means that I’m over on the Paper Craft Crew blog for this week’s sketch challenge…

My obsession with tags continues! LOL! The base of today’s card is Pool Party Card Stock and the background is a piece of paper from the Sweet Sorbet Designer Series Paper Pack. My tag is created with the Angled Tag Topper Punch and some Whisper White. I stamped the images from the Petal Parade Stamp Set in Pistachio Pudding, you can also just see one of the flowers, stamped in Summer Starfruit, peeking out from underneath. My bird is from the Backyard Basics Stamp Set, stamped in Basic Black on Sahara Sand and cut out with the Backyard Basics Framelits. I used my Pool Party, Crisp Cantaloupe and Summer Starfruit Stampin’ Write Markers to give him some color. A piece of twine from the Sweet Sorbet Accessory Pack is threaded through the top and left long to give it some “movement”. Tucked under the tag is a piece of Vellum Card Stock that I flagged and the greeting that is form the A Dozen Thoughts Stamp Set stamped in Basic Black. To finish the card I used one of the In-Color Boutique Details Buttons. So what do you think? I love that little bird and we already covered the tags! LOL! Monday’s really aren’t my favorite day of the week, you all know what day that is! Yesterday wasn’t too bad for a Monday, work was tolerable and I had a relatively relaxing evening. I got some projects done last night and am making some progress which is always good! I did do something to my neck last week and it’s getting progressively worse. I think I may actually have to pay a visit to the Chiropractor. I’m not a big fan of doctors, I think I have been maybe 2 times in the past 12 years. We’ll see how I feel by lunchtime! I’m glad that you all enjoyed the pictures and my project yesterday! I enjoy wandering around the city looking for things to take pictures of to share with you!

Some panels for a nice simple sketch! I almost forgot that there are less than two week’s left for Sale-A-Bration! Boy did that go fast! I used some of my favorite Sale-A-Bration goodies on my card today! The base of the card is Pool Party Card Stock. I used some paper from the Sweet Sorbet Designer Series Paper pack for the two panels. The larger one is backed by a piece of Pistachio Pudding. My greeting is from the Perfect Pennants Stamp Set and is stamped in Basic Black and backed with a piece of Basic Black. The arrows, stamped in Sahara Sand and flower, stamped in Crisp Cantaloupe are from the Petal Parade Stamp Set. My flower is punched out with the 1 3/4″ Circle Punch. In the middle is a piece of Summer Starfruit that I punched out with the Boho Blossom Punch and three Basic Jewels Pearls are in the middle. Some random matte black sequins scattered around compete the card. I really think that the Sale-A-Bration products this year are some of the best we have had, don’t you?! Paper Players 187 & Pics

I know I say it every Monday, that weekend just flew by. I guess what they say is true, time does fly when you are having fun. I had a nice morning in Manhattan and yes I have a few pictures for you. It was quite cold and windy, which of course made it feel much colder than it was. I got in a little early so I got to go to Starbucks and have a cup of coffee and just relax for an hour. I try to get in early so I can do that, I need it. I was on the Upper West Side and walked over to Riverside Drive on 87th Street. When I got to the end of the block and looked left I saw this really neat monument. I later discovered that it is the Soldiers and Sailors Monument to honor those that served in the Union Army during the Civil War. You can click HERE to learn more about it.

After I crossed the street and took a picture of Riverside Park and the Hudson River. If it was Summer you would have to go down in the park to take a picture of the river because all of the leaves would be on the trees.

I decided that I was going to meet my friend Kim for lunch and she is on the East Side. I thought a little exercise was in order so I decided to walk over through Central Park. I don’t know if I have mentioned this but I can never get through the park without getting lost. You may laugh but none of the paths go straight across, they all curve. I decided to stay close to the reservoir since I have had success before! LOL! I came across this little bridge that leads up to the path that goes around it and I thought it was neat. I believe it’s called Bridge #27, I kid you not!

You can see some people running around the Reservoir getting in their exercise too! I’m not a runner, unless I’m being chased! When I came out of the park I was near the Guggenheim Museum, I thought you might like to see that too!

No on to today’s post, Monday means it’s time for this week’s Paper Players challenge and this week clever Jaydee has a Clean & Simple Spring one for us…

I really do love that Sale-A-Bration Designer Series Paper but I have another favorite that I wanted to use more! My card starts off with a base of Whisper White Card Stock. I took another piece of Whisper White and used the Ovals Collection Framelits to cut out a window in the lower right corner. The stamped images are from the Happy Watercolor Stamp Set. My flowers are stamped twice, both times in Basic Black, once on the main panel and again on another piece of Whisper White. I used my Blender Pen and some Bermuda Bay Ink to color in the flowers and cut them put with my Paper Snips. The dots are stamped in Encore Gold Metallic Ink randomly. A piece of Watercolor Wonder Designer Washi Tape goes down the left side and Stampin’ Dimensionals adhere the flowers to the panel and the panel to the card. My greeting is from the Moments Ago Stamp Brush set and is cut out from a piece of Bermuda Bay with my E-Cutter. Some 2-Way Glue holds in inside the window. The butterfly is a piece of Gold Foil Sheet that I cut out with the Beautiful Wings Embosslit to finish off the card. I really like this card a lot, it’s simple and soft. I love the Bermuda Bay and the Gold together, but then again gold makes everything better right?! I really hope that you enjoyed my card for this week’s Paper Players challenge. Pals Paper Arts 195

I had a nice Saturday and hope that you did too! I watched the munchkins in the morning for a little bit while Kim went to kickboxing. Isabella and Savannah are two of the most well behaved little girls. Izzy loves to color and play on her iPad and Savannah is content to sit in her bed and watch Frozen and bounce on her pillow. I hung out with Kim for a bit when she got back and we watched Zedd’s iTunes SXSW performance. I do love all kinds of music and his EDM (Electronic Dance Music) is great! After I went and got a much needed haircut, came home and crafted for a bit and then went over to my friend Louis’ parents house to see his sister and her two little boys. We had some pizza for dinner and I came home and started on my organization plan. A busy but great day! This morning I’m off to Manhattan for a bit, it’s supposed to be in the 30’s so I should be able to wander for a bit. 🙂

For my post today I have my card for this week’s Pals Paper Arts challenge and this time it’s a color challenge…

Some nice Spring colors need some butterflies don’t you think?! My card base is Whisper White Card Stock. I stamped the greeting from the Perfect Pennants Stamp Set in Rose Red right on the base. A piece of Wild Wasabi is cut out with the Hexagon Hive Thinlits Die and some of the bottom is trimmed off. The So Saffron hexagons in the hive are created with my Stamp-a-ma-jig and the Geometrical Stamp Set. Three tickets from the That’s the Ticket Stamp Set are stamped in Rose Red on So Saffron and punched out with the Ticket Duo Builder Punch and a mini staple holds them together. My butterflies are stamped with one of the stamps from a Paper Pumpkin Set in Rose Red on Rose Red and punched out with the Bitty Butterfly Punch. Three Basic Jewels Pearls make the bodies and Stampin’ Dimensionals adhere them to the card. A nice simple spring card, lets hope that it hurries the warmer weather along! Freshly Made Sketches 127

Well that was a very nice Friday! Work was quiet and the day went quick. Dinner was very tasty. I had the Blue Cheese Stacked Burger and endless Sweet Potato fries (4 servings to be exact!) and we even had some Brownie Obsession for dessert, you have to mix it up sometimes! Today will be a get some stuff done sort of day. I’m going to watch the wee ones for a bit this morning and then a haircut (finally!) at 1:45. After that who knows!

My card for today is for this week’s Freshly Made Sketches challenge. Resident artist Jen T. has given us this great sketch to work with…

I needed a collage card and for some reason when I looked at the sketch I saw tickets! My card base is Very Vanilla Card Stock. I used the Gorgeous Grunge Stamp Set and some Night of Navy and Encore Gold Metallic Ink to randomly stamp one of the images a few times. My tickets are a piece of Crumb Cake that I sponged with Night of Navy and and some paper from the Etcetera Designer Series Paper Pack, the corners are punched with the Ticket Corner Punch and they are adhered at angle to each other and to the card base. There is also a small piece of Watercolor Wonder Designer Washi Tape on the right. The greeting is stamped on a piece of Very Vanilla that I sponged with some Pool Party. The stamped images are from the Countless Sayings 2 Photopolymer Stamp Set and are stamped in Night of Navy. My ampersand is a piece of adhesive cork sheet that I cut out with the Typeset Alphabet Bigz Dies. The heart was in the scrap pile and just wanted to put on there! A piece of crumb cake is stamped with the Hardwood Background Stamp in Crumb Cake and the Small Heart Punch and 1″ Circle Punch punch it out. A piece of Gold Foil Sheet is cut out with the Beautiful Wings Embosslit and the heart/circle and butterfly are adhered to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. A few random sequins complete the card. Collage style is definitely my favorite and you can keep it pretty clean for a collage. I really hope that you enjoyed my card for this week’s Freshly Made Sketches challenge from Jen T. Fab Friday 37

Oh yes people… it’s my favorite day of the week! Indeed it’s FRIDAY! Woo hoo! I’m so glad that this week is over! It was a long one but soon we will be done with work and sliding right into the weekend! Tonight I will be going to Friday’s with Danielle, Anthony and Bill for dinner. Danielle was intrigued by the fact that some of the burgers there come with endless fries. I guess I might have to skip dessert if that is the case! I’m thinking I will be heading into Manhattan on Sunday for a bit, hopefully the weather will be good so I can wander for a while. It was bitterly cold here today with 40+ MPH winds. I felt like I was in the movie Twister! LOL! At least we didn’t get the snow/rain they had predicted. Always a bright side, that’s the best way to look at things don’t you agree? What’s on for you this weekend?!

Today really is a great Friday because it’s time for the Fab Friday challenge. This time around we have a very interesting sketch for you…

I will admit that I puzzled over this for a while, all I could see were the speech bubbles! After some time I saw it as a layout and then I knew just what I wanted to do! Remember that I told you I have like 1000 Tangerine hexagons?! Well, I got to use a few! My card base is Tangerine Tango Card stock and the background is a piece of paper from the Retro Fresh Designer Series Paper Pack. All of the Tangerine Tango hexagons are cut out with the Hexagon Hive Thinlits Die and adhered to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. The greeting is from the Six Sided Sampler Stamp Set and is stamped in Tangerine Tango and punched out with the Hexagon Punch. It too is adhered with Stampin’ Dimensionals. I love the retro-modern feel of the card, sort of reminds me of design from the 60’s. The Tangerine definitely helps with that! Can’t you just hear the music from Austin Powers playing?!?!
