  • Comfort Café Bead Pinwheel Postage Thanks and Sneak Peek

Good morning and Happy Memorial Day! I hope that you all have some fun outdoor activities planned today with family and friends. It looks like it may be a nice day here today, hopefully it will stay that way! I went over to Stamp with Sandy the other night and we made paper beads and pinwheels. Today’s card features both of those items and another sneak peek. The base of the card is Soft Suede with a piece of Baja Breeze added as a plain background. The piece of Designer Series Paper in the middle is Comfort Café** from the new catalog. I cut it out with the new Apothecary Accents Framelits Dies** and my Big Shot. The pinwheel is made using a piece of First Edition Designer Series Paper. It is cut to 3 1/2″ square and scored diagonally from corner to corner using the Simply Scored with the Diagonal Plate. You then cut up each of the score lines leaving about 1/2″ in the center. Then you punch holes in the right hand side of each of the flaps with the 1/16″ Circle Punch and one in the middle. You take a brad and go around in a circle attaching all of the flaps and then put it through the middle and you have your pinwheel. I cut a thin strip of Soft Suede Card Stock for the stick and used some Mini Glue Dots to adhere it to the front of the card. The butterfly is made using the Beautiful Wings Embosslit Die and Midnight Muse* Card Stock. The body of the butterfly is a paper bead made with some more First Edition Designer Series Paper. To make the bead you cut out an 8″ long by 1″ wide triangle and wrap the large end around a toothpick and roll it a little and then use Tombo Multipurpose Glue to adhere the rest of the length which gives you the bead shape. After it has dried for a while you use a paintbrush to coat it with a layer of Crystal Effects to give it the shine and make it a little more durable. It is adhered to the butterfly with a Mini Glue Dot and to the Card With a Stampin’ Dimensional. The greeting is from the Pretty Postage Stamp Set. I used the 1″ Square Punch to punch it out and then the 3/16″ Corner Rounder to round the corners. I then punched out a piece of Midnight Muse* with the Curly Label Punch for the backing, it is also adhered to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. I hope that you enjoyed today’s card and that it inspired you to try a pinwheel or to make a paper bead. Thank you so much for stopping by and have a great day! 🙂

  • CCMC 203 and Sneak Peek

Hello everyone! I hope that you are having a nice weekend. It was in the 80’s here today and I took a ride in the convertible and Winston went to the groomers and I spent a lot of time crafting today! For me, it was a great day! Today’s card is for this weeks Create with Connie and Mary Challenge. This week we have a sketch challenge…

I wanted to use some cool tones so I went with Midnight Muse* and the Basic Grey from the Twitterpated Designer Series Paper. The base of the card is Midnight Muse Card Stock* and the background is Twitterpated DSP. I used the Paper Doily Large Sizzlits Die to cut out a piece of Whisper White Card Stock. With a little work and some help from your Paper Piercer the end result is a really nice paper doily. I used the Scallop Trim Border Punch on a sliver of Basic Grey for the bottom. The greeting is from the Keep Calm Stamp Set** and is stamped in Midnight Muse*. I used the Bitty Banners Framelits Dies** to cut out the “and” and popped it up on a Stampin’ Dimensional which I also used to adhere the greeting to the card. The pocketbook is from the same set and I mounted it to a 1″ circle with another Stampin’ Dimensional. I love the simplicity of the card and the colors. I’m also loving the Keep Calm** set and can’t wait to order some more new items from the Catalog on Thursday! Thank you so much for stopping by and have a great Sunday!

  • Wisteria Black First Edition Type Oldie

Happy Saturday everyone. Welcome to the start of our three day weekend. For today’s card I found one that I made a while ago and it made me remember how much I like the stamp set and miss it. This card is also a great example of how you can make a great card with just a Stamp Set, Punch, Card Stock and Designer Series Paper. The base of the card is a note card size piece Very Vanilla Card Stock. I used a piece of First Edition Specialty Designer Series Paper for the background. The typewriter image, stamped in Basic Black, is from the You’re My Type Stamp Set from the Occasions Mini and is no longer available. I backed it with some Wisteria Wonder Card Stock and punched out a piece of Basic Black Card Stock with the Decorative Label Punch and cut it in half and mounted it to the top and bottom of the Wisteria Wonder. The “a little note…” is stamped in Basic Black too. A few of these put together in a box would make a great gift and the main image could easily be swapped out for another current one. I hope that you like today’s card and thank you for stopping by! Have a great day!

Oh, I’m thinking of doing some blog candy! Maybe a stamp set from the new catalog… possibly starting Monday… who thinks that is a good idea?!

  • Baja Cajun Starfruit Papaya Cafe Birthday Sneak Peek

Hello everyone and welcome to Friday… three day weekend Friday! Bought to you this week by Memorial Day! I have no definite plans this weekend so I am going to try and get some crafting time in. What are all of you up to this weekend? Today’s card is another sneak peek at items from the upcoming 2012-2013 Catalog. Less than one week from now you can place your orders. 🙂 If anyone needs a catalog, contact me and I’ll send you one. The card base is Summer Starfruit* Card Stock. I ran a piece of Baja Breeze through the Big Shot using the Stripes Textured Impressions Embossing Folder for the top half of the background. The bottom half of the background is a piece of Comfort Café Designer Series Paper**. I love the texture in the design on the paper, it gives it a nice worn look. I covered the seam with some Soft Suede 3/8″ Taffeta Ribbon. The greeting and border are from the Memorable Moments Stamp Set** and are stamped in Midnight Muse*. I cut it out with the Labels Collection Framelits Dies and stamped off the leaves image from the Papaya Collage Stamp Set** in Summer Starfruit*. The flagged pieces are cut out using the Bitty Banners Framelits Dies** in Cajun Craze and adhered to the back of the label and then adhered to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. The bird, stamped in Soft Suede, and butterflies, stamped in Cajun Craze are also from the Papaya Collage Stamp Set** and are cut out with paper Snips and mounted to the DSP with more Stampin’ Dimensionals. Two Basic Jewels Pearls on each of the butterflies complete the card. I love the mix of colors in the Comfort Café DSP**, some old ones and some new. • Raspberry Green Collage Graduation

Good morning peeps and happy Thursday! Only one more day to go until my favorite day… FRIDAY! As an added bonus it’s Memorial Day weekend so that means that Monday is a holiday! Three day weekend! 🙂 Today’s card is for a friend of mine at work, Valerie. She just got her Masters Degree and her graduation is on Saturday. What an amazing accomplishment! I started with a base of Gumball Green* Card Stock. I stamped the frame image from the Papaya Collage Stamp Set** in Soft Suede. The leaves image was stamped on another piece of Very Vanilla Card Stock and adhered to the middle of the frame. I stamped the congratulations from the Layered Labels Stamp Set** in Raspberry Ripple* and cut it out with the Apothecary Accents Framelits Dies**. It’s mounted to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. The happy graduation is from the Teeny Tiny Wishes Stamp Set and is stamped in Gumball Green* and cut out with the Itty Bitty Banners Framelits Dies**. I cut a smaller on in Raspberry Ripple* and cut it in half with my Paper Snips and adhered it to the back of the greeting and then adhered it to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. I also added a piece of Soft Suede punched out with the Dotted Scalloped Ribbon Punch to each side of the frame and tucked it behind so that only the edge peeks out. Papaya Collage* is one of my favorite new sets from the 2012-2013 Catalog. I hope that you are inspired by today’s card and thank you, as always, for stopping by. Enjoy your Thursday! 🙂

  • CCMC 202 and Sneak Peek

Happy Wednesday everyone! I love Wednesday’s because it means we are halfway through the week! It was rainy and damp here all day except for 10 minutes when the sun peeked out and it felt like summer. It’s nice and sunny this morning, hopefully this is just a little taste of things to come! Today’s card is for a the Create with Connie and Mary Challenge. I haven’t done this one before and I got my card in just in time! This weeks challenge is a color challenge and they have given us these colors to work with…

I love these colors! Especially Poppy Parade, one of the retiring In-Colors. I started with a base of Pool Party cut to 7″ x 5″ and scored it at 3 1/2″ to make it a note card size. The background of the card is a piece of Designer Series Paper from the 6 x 6 In-Color Stack that is still available on the clearance rack. The image/greeting is from the Layered Labels Stamp Set* and is stamped twice, once in Pool Party and again in Poppy Parade. I used the Apothecary Accents Framelits Dies* to cut out the image and then used the Large Oval Punch to punch to punch out the greeting from the Poppy Parade image. The basic Black Card Stock was also cut out with the Apothecary Accents Framelits Dies* and then embossed using the Perfect Polkadots Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. The stamped images are adhered to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. The ribbon is 1/4″ Basic Black Grosgrain Ribbon and is Retired. I’m so glad that I saw the color challenge and love the new products from the 2012-2013 Catalog. I hope you like the sneak peek and the card and thanks for stopping by!

  • Mojo 242 and Sneak Peek

Good morning and happy Tuesday. It was gloomy and rainy here all day yesterday and is supposed to be like that for much of the rest of the week. I’m not a huge fan of the rain but everything will be nice and green when it’s finished raining! Today’s card is for this weeks Mojo Monday Sketch Challenge. This week’s sketch is provided by Teresa Kline…

I used Raspberry Ripple* Card Stock for the base. To that I added a piece of Whisper White Card Stock that I ran through my Big Shot using the Petals-A-Plenty Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. I don’t think that I have done a white background before but it looks kind of neat! I added a piece of Patio Party** Designer Series Paper to the embossed background and I also used the Labels Collection Framelits Dies to cut another piece out to place behind my stamped image. The stamped image is from the Occasions Alphabet Stamp Set and is stamped in Raspberry Ripple*. I used the new Apothecary Accents Framelits Dies** to cut it out and after I mounted to to the label with some Stampin’ Dimensionals, I framed it with Raspberry Ripple* and Whisper White. Another piece of Raspberry Ripple* was punched along the one side with the Scallop Edge Border Punch. I adhered that to the card with SNAIL and then the greeting was adhered with Stampin’ Dimensionals. Thanks to Mojo for another great sketch. I hope that you enjoyed the card and have a wonderful day!

  • Paper Players #96 and Sneak Peek

Happy Monday morning to everyone! I had a very nice day yesterday. I ran some errands, enjoyed the beautiful weather and got to play with my stamp stuff too! Today’s card is for this weeks Paper Players. I was honored that I was Anne Marie’s Pick of the Week for last weeks Challenge! You can see the post here and visit the Paper Player site here. This week we are asked to use polkadots…

So I did just that, and a lot of them! The base of the card is Chocolate Chip Card Stock. I ran a piece of Cherry Cobbler Card Stock through my Big Shot using the Perfect Polkadots Texture Impressions Embossing Folder. The tiered cake image is from the Make A Cake* Stamp Set. The cake is stamped in Chocolate Chip and the flags and butterflies are stamped in Cherry Cobbler. I used the new Bitty Banners Framelits Dies* to cut out the smaller banners in Chocolate Chip and cut them in half with my Paper Snips and adhered them to the back of the Cherry Cobbler frame with SNAIL. To the back of that I added a piece of Chocolate Chip cut 1/8″ smaller than usual and offset it and adhered it to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. A piece of Chocolate Chip 1/2 Inch Scallop Dots Ribbon make the perfect item to attach the greeting that is from the Itty Bitty Banners* Stamp Set and is stamped in Cherry Cobbler and cut out with the Bitty Banners Framelits Dies*. I love the rich color combination, you can almost taste the chocolate and smell the cherry cobbler! Thank you for stopping by and thanks to the Paper Players for their great challenges every week. Good Sunday morning to everyone. I hope that you are having nice weather and enjoying your weekend wherever you may be. I had a nice ride with the top down in the car today! It’s supposed to be nice here tomorrow too. Today’s card is for this weeks Pals Paper Arts Challenge and we have this sketch to work with…

I wanted to give you a bunch of sneak peeks with this card and I have done just that. I started with a base of Summer Starfruit* Card Stock. I cut out a piece of Midnight Muse* Card Stock, placing it in the middle, and left 1/2″ border. I used the new Apothecary Accents Framelits Dies** to cut out the piece of Comfort Café Designer Series Paper**. I also used them to cut out the stamped image from the Layered Labels Stamp Set** which I stamped in Midnight Muse*. I cut another one the same size in Summer Starfruit* and place it behind. I used the Labels Framelits Dies to cut out a piece of Very Vanilla Card Stock and then ran it through the Big Shot using the Square Lattice Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. The stamped image is adhered with Stampin’ Dimensionals. The Midnight Muse* and Summer Starfruit* across the top are both punched on the one edge with the Scallop Edge Border punch. For a little added texture I used the Perfect Backgrounds Texturz Plate*** on the Summer Starfruit* piece. I cut out some butterflies with the Beautiful Wings Embosslit in Midnight Muse and used Stampin’ Dimensionals to adhere them too. • Happy Birthday Maureen and Sneak Peek

Good Saturday morning to you all. I hope that the weather is as nice as it is here by you. I’m looking forward to a drive in the convertible later! Today’s card is for my good friend Maureen’s birthday. I have know Maureen for 25 years, that’s a long time! I started with a base of Calypso Coral and ran a piece of Whisper White through the Big Shot with the Perfect Polkadots Textured Impressions Embossing Folder for the background. I used the smaller flowers from the Fabulous Florets Stamp Set (which has become a favorite of mine of late), stamped them in Basic Black, and outlined them in Calypso Coral using a Stampin’ Write Marker. My Paper Snips have become one of my favorite accessories as you can see from all of my fussy cutting lately, which is what I did with the flowers. I stamped the leaves and stems image in Lucky Limeade and backed it with Lucky Limeade Card Stock. It’s mounted to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals and so are the flowers. The greeting is from the Teeny Tiny Wishes Wood Mount Stamp Set and is stamped in Lucky Limeade. I used the new Bitty Banners Framelits Dies* to cut out the greeting and the backed it with another piece of Lucky Limeade. I like the simplicity of this card and my friend loved it. Thank you for stopping by and have a great day!
