Butterfly Plaid Christmas

Sorry for my lack of posts of late, I’m away with a friend of mine visiting her family. We drove from Kansas City, MO to St. Louis, MO with her sister today. So, I am posting this tonight from the lovely city of St. Louis! This holiday card has my mother’s favorite embellishment on it… butterflies. I used the Beautiful Wings Embosslit to cut some butterflies out in Cherry Cobbler card stock. I thought that the Garden Green in the plaid from the Frostwood Lodge Designer series pack makes for a nice background and the Dotted Scalloped Ribbon Border Punch added a nice line to the middle. The sentiment is from the Delightful Dozen Stamp Set. I hope you enjoy the card and thanks for stopping by!

Gently Falling Birthday

Hello everyone, I hope that you are all having a nice day. It’s very rainy here in New York a perfect day to sit and make some cards! I actually made this card for a friends birthday on Saturday. I love the Gently Falling Stamp Set. My good friend and super talented fellow Stamper Sandy lent it to me. After I used it a few times I decided that I had to have it! I think it makes for a nice masculine birthday card. The Card Stock I used is More Mustard and Cajun Craze. I stamped the leaves and “helicopter” in Basic Black and the stamped them in Cajun Craze, More Mustard and Early Espresso on Very Vanilla Card Stock. The happy birthday is from Teeny Tiny Wishes. I hope that you like the card and that you have a lovely evening. As always, thanks for stopping by!

Simple Merry & Type

Good evening peeps. I hope that everyone had a nice weekend. Mine was busy but fun. I had a card making class with a group of friends today. It was a lot of fun and they made some really nice cards. I love when people make cards for the first time, it’s so much fun to see the layouts that they use and the look of accomplishment when they finish the first one. The card that I am posting today I made a few weeks ago. It’s a very simple card using just two stamps from the Merry & Type Stamp Set. I used markers to color in the ornaments and then just selected a greeting and matted it. The layout allows the ornaments to be the focal point of the card. I like the simplicity of it and hope you do too. Thanks for stopping by and have a great night!

PPA 121

This weeks Pals Paper Arts challenge asks you for a clean and simple design and to add some pearls. I never thought of using the Button, Button Clear Mount Set with the Stitched Stockings before but I really like the way the two look together. I do love me some punches and the Stocking Builder Punch and Circle Punches coordinate with the two stamp sets. I used Rich Razzleberry, Sahara Sand and Whisper White Smooth Card Stock. I love making Christmas cards that don’t use the traditional red and green. The Stitched Stocking stamped in Rich Razzleberry looks elegant and the Basic Pearls on the snowflake in the middle give it a nice finishing touch. Using the Simply Scored to add some lines to the background is a fast and simple way to get an embossed look and give the card some texture. The greeting is from Petite Pairs which is another great set to have because it has an inside and outside greeting. I’m happy with the way the card came out and I think I’ll make some more of them for my Christmas cards. Thanks for stopping by and have a great day!

Mojo 216

For this weeks Mojo Monday Sketch I am keeping on with my Christmas cards. I’m still a big fan of the Letters to Santa Designer Series Paper. I like the colors that it coordinates with and the ornaments are so pretty. I used some Early Espresso, Marina Mist and Old Olive Smooth Card Stock to create this card. I used quite a few tools to put the whole thing together. The background is embossed with the Perfect Polkadots Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. You can barely see the “ribbon” but I did use my Color Spritzer Tool that I often forget that I have. I cut out the “25” from the Merry and Type Stamp Set, I should cut out a little more often, I need the practice! The circles were punched out with just about every one of the circle punches that I have. Stampin’ Dimensionals give it a little depth, I like some 3D! Finishing off the card is Merry Christmas from the Petite Pairs Wood Mount Stamp Set. I think it’s a must have for any stamper as it contains every greeting that you will ever need. Thanks for stopping by and I hope that everyone had a great Thanksgiving!

Merry Cherry Half Top Note

I’m having such a good time making Christmas cards this year. I have made quite a few and will be posting them over the next few weeks. For this card I used the Merry & Type stamp set and the Sizzix Top Note Bigz Die from the 2011-2012 Idea Book & Catalog. I cut the Top Note in half long ways and hid it behind the framed stamped image of the Christmas Ornaments. I used only two colors, Cherry Cobbler and Very Vanilla Smooth Card Stock. The images are stamped with Cherry Cobbler Stampin’ Ink. Thanks for stopping by, Happy Thanksgiving, and have a great day!

PPA 120

I love playing along with the challenges at Pals Paper Arts each week. This weeks challenge is a sketch. I’m in love with the Christmas Lodge Stamp set from the Holiday Mini Catalog. The tree, as I have said before, creates such a nice crisp image. I decided to try a new color combination so I used Always Artichoke and Cherry Cobbler. I love the muted green shade of Always Artichoke, it gives the tree a vintage woodsy feel. The Snow Burst Textured Impressions Embossing Folder looks great on almost any color card stock. For the greeting I used my old standby Christmas Greetings. I hope that you enjoyed the card and that have a nice day!

Gently Falling Birthday Box

Good morning peeps! I was poking around on the Stampin’ Connection web site yesterday and I came across this tutorial to make a really neat box card that holds 10 Hershey Nuggets. It was done as a Christmas card with the Snow Much Fun stamp set but I have made a ton of Christmas cards so I thought I would change it up a bit. I used the Gently Falling Stamp Set that’s available in the Holiday Mini Catalog. I love this set, it’s so beautiful and versatile. I would like to thank the super talented and amazing Sandy Mathis for lending it to me. She has made scores of gorgeous cards with it and I’m going to get it for myself with my next order! I used some Not Quite Navy Smooth Card Stock to make the box. The ink is Basic Black, More Mustard & Cajun Craze. The images are stamped on Whisper White. I mounted the stamped images on Cajun Craze and the card was mounted again on Cajun Craze. There is also a gift card holder on the inside so it’s like three different items all wrapped up into one! It’s a clever idea and I want to thank Glenda Calkins for posting the tutorial. You can check out her blog here:

Mojo 215

This weeks Mojo Monday Sketch Challenge is rectangles. For my card I decided to showcase the Holly Berry Bouquet-Etoile de Noel (Pines & Poinsettias) Product Suite. I used a base of Early Espresso Smooth Card Stock and put down some of the Holly Berry Bouquet Designer Series Paper. I then used the Perfect Polka Dots Embossing Folder on some more Early Espresso. I then stamped some Garden Green for a DSP look. I chopped off the greeting and it still looks nice and mounted that on some Cherry Cobbler. I markered another stamp from the set and punched it out with the Decorative Label Punch and used one of Mary Fish’s tricks to give it a border. I love playing along each week and hope that you enjoy the cards. Have a great night!

Simple Christmas Tree

Hello there and happy Sunday. For today’s card I used the Christmas Lodge Clear Mount Set. I love the vintage elegant feel of the set. The tree and lodge are absolutely beautiful, the images so crisp. I wanted to make a nice simple Christmas card and this is what I came up with. I used some Cherry Cobbler Smooth Card Stock for the base and backed the stamped image with some Garden Green. The Merry Christmas is stamped in Cherry Cobbler and backed by some more Cherry Cobbler card stock to make the greeting pop. It’s a very simple holiday card made with a beautiful set and I hope that you like it. Have a great day and thanks for stopping by!
