Freshly Made Sketches 194

Hello peeps! What a great day we had in Manhattan yesterday! Michael and I met up with Kim and Angie at her old apartment around 9:15 and then headed over to the diner for some breakfast. After that we hopped into a cab and went down to the new apartment. Kim said that the movers finished the entire move in three hours on Friday, that’s pretty fast! Michael and I put the bookcase back together, we did have to run out to Home Depot to get a bit, but it was done in no time! We stopped at Baker Street for a yummy lunch and after that we headed over to Bed, Bath & Beyond to pick up some necessities. I got a text from my friend Isabella to stop by for tea so Michael and I went over to her apartment. We had a nice chat, Michael and Isabella talked about the art in Brasil and Argentina. From there we went back to meet Kim and Angie to go back uptown to get my car and headed over to see Bev and Jason on the West Side. After a nice visit with them Michael and I headed back out to the Island. What a great way to spend a Saturday!

Here are some pictures from the roof deck of my friend Kim’s new apartment…

KD Apt Bridge

You can see the 59th Street Bridge through the buildings!

KD Apt Tram

If you look closely there is the tram to Roosevelt Island in the middle of the picture.

KD Apt Citi

And off in the distance is the top of the Citibank Building!

Today I have a quick card for this week’s Freshly Made Sketches challenge…

Freshly Made Sketches 194

I wanted to do a little inking with some of the new Tim Holtz Distress colors so I created a simple birthday card. The base is Neenah Solar White 110lb Card Stock. I used a Tim Holtz Mini Ink Blending Tool and some Cracked Pistachio and Mermaid Lagoon on two pieces of Neenah Solar White 80lb. They are then cut out with the Lawn Fawn Party Balloons Lawn Cuts. I also used the dies to cut some Black Card Stock for the balloon strings. My sentiment is from the Simon Says Stamp Handwritten Borders Photopolymer Stamp Set and is stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black. The balloons are adhered to the card with SNAIL and Foam Tape, the strings with 2-Way Glue. A fun simple birthday card, I love the way the blended ink gives the balloons some cool texture! I hope that you enjoyed my card for this week’s Freshly Made Sketches challenge. I always appreciate you stopping by to share in my day and I wish you a stupendous Sunday! 🙂

Welcome to Stamp, Ink, Paper!!!!

An extra happy Monday to you! I had a rough start yesterday, lesson learned, but the rest of the day was nice. I went over and hung out with Brain and Kim for a bit and then came home and worked on some projects. I had a lot to get done this weekend in preparation for today’s announcement! I have been toying with the idea of starting my own challenge blog. I love playing along with all of the challenges that I do each week and seeing all of the amazing cards and projects that are submitted. I had fun being the co-captain on Can You Case It with my friend Eva. Since I already had a talented bunch of people Eva and I decided that I could take some of my team and move forward with my little project. So today marks the very first Stamp, Ink, Paper Challenge!

SIP Header

I’m excited to be able to do this and I couldn’t have done it without the help of the rest of the Design Team! We have added a few new faces and there are some that you know from CYCI. We thought that we would start things off with a nice easy challenge, Getting to Know You! Make a card using your favorite Stamps, Ink and Paper! Whatever style you like! I can’t wait to see what you come up with! To make sure that there is enough time for everyone to participate this challenge will run for two weeks! Some of our Design Team is also giving away blog candy so make sure and go to the SIP Challenge Site and visit the other designers! We are also giving you the ability to vote for your favorites! Make sure that you cast your vote and the person with the most votes at the end of the challenge will be featured as our Audience Pick!

So without further ado here is the new Stamp, Ink, Paper Challenge

SIP Any Challenge 1

I actually made a few cards for this but when I thought about what kind of card is my favorite I had to go with a college card! This one was inspired by one that I saw on Pinterest a while back. The base is Neenah Solar White 110lb Card Stock. Two layers, one of Neenah 80lb and one of Pink Pirouette, are adhered to the card with SNAIL and Fun Foam. On top of that is a piece of Vellum that I heat embossed the Hero Arts Large Notebook Paper Background Stamp with Hero Arts White Embossing Powder. The wreath is from the Your Perfect Day Photopolymer Stamp Set and is heat embossed in Ranger Liquid Platinum Embossing Powder and cut out with a die from DiesByDave. I adhered some of the pearls that Mr. Trent sent me with Thermo-Web Bling Glue Dots. The heart is a piece of red felt from Michaels and is cut out with the Hearts Collection Framelits and adhered with Glue Dots. For the flowers I used some Pink Pirouette and Watermelon Wonder with the Tim Holtz Tiny Tattered Florals Dies, they are also adhered with Glue Dots. One of the Subtles Collection Designer Buttons has a piece of Hemptique Natural Hemp Twine tied in a bow and it’s adhered with another Glue Dot. A few Hazel & Ruby The Makery Shine & Sparkle Sequins and Pretty Pink Posh Sparkling Clear Sequins are adhered with Crystal Effects. The stamped greeting is from the Crazy About You Photopolymer Stamp Set and is stamped in Tip Top Taupe. The you is a piece of Pink Pirouette cut out with the Simon Says Stamp You Craft Die and adhered with Ranger Multi-Matte Medium. Phew! That’s a lot of stuff! LOL! I love the roses and the addition of the felt to the card, the wreath, well you know how I feel about that! So there is my first card for the NEW Stamp, Ink, Paper Challenge blog! I really hope that you enjoyed it and that you will go over and see what the rest of the talented Design Team has to inspire you! We would love to see one of your creations in the gallery too! Thank you so much for coming by to see me and making my days brighter with your comments and visits! Have an absolutely amazing Monday my friends! 🙂

Freshly Made Sketches 188 & Pals Paper Arts 253

Well, my trend of sleeping in on Saturdays continues! Not that 7:30 is late but it is for me! Yesterday was another nice day, warm, a little humid but the sun felt nice! My friend Danielle stopped by after work to pick up two birthday cards. I am being good and using ones that I already have in my stash! I Skyped with Andrea for a while and we crafted together. I made my two cards for today and she worked on some swaps. Taylor stopped by and watched some Netflix, she is a little addicted to it! I spent a little time watching TV and then called it a day. Today I’m not sure what I’m doing, which sometimes is nice!

So of the two cards that I have for you today my first one is for this week’s Freshly Made Sketches challenge…

Freshly Made Sketches 188

Thanks to Jen B. for choosing my card for last week’s challenge! The card base is Neenah Solar White 110lb. I used the Simon Says Stamp Stitched Rectangles to cut out a piece of Early Espresso for the frame and also a piece of Window Sheet. Thin strips of foam tape around the frame adheres it to the card. Some American Crafts Gold Glitter Paper is backed with some Stick-it and cut out with the Simon Says Stamp Hello Die and then adhered to the window. My flowers are created with the Tim Holtz Sizzix Tiny Tattered Florals Thinlits from Cherry Cobbler and the leaves from Old Olive. They are adhered to the window frame with Glue Dots. I was going to make it a shaker card but I really like the way the hello just seems to float above the card with nothing behind it!

The second card I made is for this week’s Pals Paper Arts sketch challenge…

PPA 253

A neat sketch and I’m loving that funky edge! The card base on this one is also Neenah Solar White 110lb. The background is a piece of paper from the NEW Cherry on Top Designer Series Paper Stack and I just used a ruler to draw the angled edge and cut it with my Paper Snips. My panel in the middle is a piece of Whisper White that I cut out with the Simon Says Stamp Flag Card Die. The greeting is from the May Paper Pumpkin Kit and is stamped in Island Indigo. I adhered the card to the base with SNAIL and Fun Foam. The flag at the top is also cut out with the same die from a piece of Gold Glimmer Paper. I doubled up the Fun Foam to adhere it and give it a little more dimension. A scattering of Pretty Pink Posh Gold Sequins adhered with Crystal Effects gives the card some sparkle. I love the simplicity and that funky edge!

So there you have your double dose of my creativity for your Saturday! I hope that you like both the Freshly Made Sketches and Pals Paper Arts card for this week’s challenges! I really do appreciate you taking the time to come by and visit with me, you always make my day! Now go and have yourselves an amazing Saturday! 🙂
