Pals Paper Arts 233

Apparent;ly I decided to sleep in really late today! I had a nice Christmas yesterday and hope that you all of you did too. Thank you for all of your Christmas wishes and kindness, who could ask for a better Christmas gift?! Daniel got a little Fisher Price music set that came with a drum, maracas, tamborine and flute. He played with it for a while but my brother really liked it! LOL! He played with it a lot much to dismay of everyone else especially Erika! Andrew stopped by later in the day and we just sat a talked for a while. After, Taylor came over and we watched Divergent again. Love that movie! This morning I have a bunch of Thank you cards to make and other projects to work on. I think I will escape the house for a bit too, it’s a nice day outside, not too cold so I can’t stay in all day. I took a really nice picture of the sky last night, a nice sky to complete a nice day!

I did make a card last night and it’s for this week’s Pals Paper Arts sketch challenge…

I used some new goodies from the Sale-A-Bration Catalog and that cool bird stamp! The base of the card is Whisper White Card Stock and the background is a piece of paper from the Best Year Ever Designer Series Paper Pack*. I stamped the greeting from the A Happy Thing Stamp Set* in Soft Suede on the background and adhered it to the card with SNAIL. A strip of Coastal Cabana and Calypso Coral go down the left side and some Soft Suede across the bottom. The triangles are also Coastal Cabana and Calypso Coral and are punched out with the Triangle Punch and adhered to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. The bird is also from the A Happy Thing Stamp Set* and is stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black and colored in with my Crumb Cake, Daffodil Delight, Coastal Cabana and Calypso Coral Stampin’ Blendabilities Markers. I put a little dot of Crystal Effects on his eye and adhered him to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. I love the colors together and that DSP has some really great patterns in it. A Very Merry Christmas to YOU!

Hello and Happy Holidays! I hope that you are enjoying time with your family and friends exchanging gifts and smiles! I was up very late last night finishing up cards for family and I still have a few things to do. I Skyped with my friend Eva for a bit and that was nice! I will get to see Daniel and Taylor along with my parents and brother and sister-in-law in a little bit. Andrew is supposed to stop by later and who knows who else! Christmas to me is not something that comes once a year it’s something that you experience all the time. It’s being grateful for what you have and spending time with the people that you love. I get to do that all the time, with my friends and all of you! Even if I don’t get to see certain people they know that they are loved and missed! Yes we celebrate Christmas once a year but I think that we should experience it all the time! Let’s try to remember that from now on!

I have a bunch of cards to share with you today. No lengthy descriptions, just the cards. There is one that is all Stampin’ Up! and the rest are things from other places. Two are CASES of a card that I have loved for quite a while. I hope that you enjoy them and I leave you with one picture at the end that is sure to put a smile on your face! Paper Craft Crew 124

So, believe it or not I got most of my Christmas shopping done yesterday! Woo hoo! I met up with Danielle last night and we went to the mall. It was a little crowded but we just took our time. She got most of the rest of her shopping finished too and even got her self a nice little present! I also stopped in at Hollister and got myself a new pair of jeans and a nice fuzzy lined hoodless sweatshirt. All of the stores were having 50% off or better sales so that made waiting worth it. I just have two presents left to get and I’m done. I have also decided that I will send out Christmas cards, they will just be a little late and I will use the ones that I already have made. Thanks for the comments and input, it always helps! 🙂

Today is Michael’s Birthday!! Join me in wishing him a very happy birthday and a wonderful year ahead!! Happy Birthday Michael!! 🙂

Well, it’s Wednesday and we know what that means! It’s Paper Craft Crew sketch day and this is what we have for you this week…

My card is actually quite non-decript and would work for any range of occasions. The base for today’s card is Basic Gray Card Stock and the background is a piece of Smoky Slate that I embossed with the Lucky Stars Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. Across the top is a piece of Silver Glimmer Paper and over the top of that is some Basic Black that I used the Confetti Stars Border Punch on. My banner is a piece of Lost Lagoon cut out with the Banners Framelits and the star is cut out using the Stars Framelits. Behind the star is another piece of Silver Glimmer Paper and tucked in on the right is a piece of Basic Gray that I punched out with the 1 3/8″ Circle Punch and some Basic Jewels Rhinestones are added in a row of three. I decided that the banner looked a little plain and what better way to jazz it up than with some sequins! I used some from Doodle Bug and they are called Beetle Black. There are some matte and shiny black, shiny light gray and a few different shades of silver. Finally, my greeting is from the Good Greetings Stamp Set and is heat embossed in Black Stampin’ Emboss Powder on Vellum and tucked under the flag. I’m really loving the grays lately, especially with Lost Lagoon and Black! And there you have my Design Team card for this week’s Paper Craft Crew sketch challenge. Don’t forget to visit the blog! Mojo 377

We had our Holiday party at work yesterday and in the middle of it there was fire drill! Ha ha! They also did karaoke and some people were really good and others… well we won’t say anything else! It is supposed to rain here heavy until Christmas. At least we won’t have a white one. I’ll take the rain over snow any day. Last night was pretty uneventful. I got a few cards done and then made a list of what I have left to do. The Christmas cards didn’t get done. Sometimes we have to accept that there is just not enough time in the day to accomplish everything that we want to. That is something I’m going to work on in the New Year. Between work, crafting, blogging and friends sometimes I just can’t get to everything and that’s just the way it goes right?! I’m going to do my Christmas shopping tonight! Wish me luck! LOL!

It’s Tuesday so here are the Weekly Deals from Stampin’ Up!:

My card that I have for you today is for this week’s Mojo Monday sketch challenge…

Super simple so I wanted to keep my card the same. I saw a technique last year where Debbie Hughes used embossing paste with embossing powder to get this really cool molten look so I finally decided to give it a try! The base for today’s card is Whisper White Card Stock. I adhered a piece of Smoky Slate to the base and a strip of Silver Glimmer Paper goes across the middle. My snowflake is actually the negative of the Simon Says Stamp Kate Snowflake Die. I cut it out of a piece of 110lb card stock and used it as a stencil with some Wendy Vecchi Embossing Paste. Some Silver Stampin’ Emboss Powder is sprinkled on while it is still wet and the I heat embossed it and it bubbled! I used the Circles Collection Framelits to cut it out and backed it with some Brushed Silver Metallic Card Stock punched out with the 2″ Circle Punch. My greeting is from the Merry Everything Stamp Set and is also heat embossed in Silver Stampin’ Emboss Powder and backed with some more Brushed Silver Metallic. Stampin’ Dimensionals hold both the snowflake and the greeting to the card. Like I said very simple, just white and silver. I love the way the snowflake turned out, a very clever technique! Blackberry Birch Butterfly Hello

Well, I ended up going to the mall with Heather yesterday morning. However, it was not the quick trip that I was promised. We ended up being out for about six hours, and after that I went over to her place and reformatted the hard drive in her computer. I came home, made my card, Andrew came by with pizza for dinner and we watched my all time favorite holiday movie, Love Actually. Andrew hadn’t seen the movie before and enjoyed it. So, yes, you guessed it, my Christmas cards are still not done. There’s always tonight! LOL!

Today, I have a card for you that uses a bunch of new stuff from the upcoming 2015 Occasions Catalog that you can order from starting on January 6th…

Today’s card begins with a base of Whisper White Card Stock, I covered the entire front with a piece of Blackberry Bliss. On top of that is a piece of Brushed Silver Card Stock that is cut out with a stitched rectangle from Simon Says Stamp. The main panel of the card is a piece of Smoky Slate, I used the stitched rectangles and stitched circles from Simon. Behind the circle is a piece of paper from the new Adventure Bound Designer Series Paper Stack. The Smoky Slate panel is adhered to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. The new Butterfly Thinlits cut out a piece of Blackberry Bliss. The butterfly’s wings are bent and it’s adhered to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. Some Dazzling Details goes down the length of the body for a little definition. My “hello” is also cut out from Blackberry Bliss using the Hello You Thinlits Dies and is adhered to the card using 2-Way Glue. I finished it off with some Moonshine Sequins, also from Simon Says Stamp, adhered with Crystal Effects. I’m really loving the Adventure Bound DSP Stack, but I think I’ve said that before. I would actually like a whole stack of just the birch! I hope you enjoyed my card for today as much as I enjoyed making it. I love a simple card with a lot of impact. Pals Paper Arts 232

Well, yesterday just flew by! I puttered around in the morning for a bit and then went to BJ’s with Heather. We stopped at the Deli and got some bagels for breakfast and brought them back to my house to eat them. I finally found some more of my Christmas ornaments and put them on the tree. Around 2:00 I called my friend Sandy to see if she wanted to take a ride out to the Scrapbook store to visit Renee and she said yes so I headed over to her and picked her up and out we went. The store is very barren at the moment, I took some pictures of the one wall that is filled with paper and some stamps and dies.

We had a nice visit and some other people stopped by while we were there. I dropped Sandy off and came home with the intent of getting some Christmas cards made. I did manage to get the ones that my boss wanted for her niece and nephew made but not much else! I’m just going to go through my stash and send out some of those. I do have a bunch of cards made and they should go to good home and not sit in a box! That is one of my New Year’s resolutions. I’m going to send out or sell my cards that I make! That will help pay for some of my crafting addiction too! LOL!

On today’s post which is for this week’s Pals Paper Arts sketch challenge…

I decided that I should get a few more uses out of my Christmas stamps! The base of my card is Whisper White Card Stock. I adhered a piece of All is Calm Specialty Designer Series Paper to the base and then used the Lawn Fawn Stitched Rectangles to cut out the frame from a piece of Cherry Cobbler. A strip of Soft Sky goes down the left side to keep with the sketch. Yes, that’s a shaker, shocker! LOL! The background of it is a piece of Lost Lagoon and I heat embossed the greeting from the Seasonally Scattered Stamp Set in White Stampin’ Emboss Powder. The frame is again cut out with the Stitched Rectangles from a piece of Pear Pizzaz along with the Window Sheet. Some of the snowflakes from the Frosted Sequins are placed inside and Foam Tape adheres it to the background. I know, I make a lot of shaker cards but I really do love them! I hope that you like my card for this week’s Pals Paper Arts sketch challenge. I’m off to the mall this morning with Heather and Stephanie, I need to do some Christmas shopping, it’s getting close! Control Freaks December Blog Tour

Hello everyone and welcome to the Control Freaks December Blog Tour. This month we are featuring sneak peeks from the upcoming 2015 Occasions and Sale-A-Bration Catalogs. You can order from the catalogs starting January 6, 2015. If you are following along on the tour you have arrived here from Melissa Davies blog. Such awesome projects as always. I have two cards and a treat holder for you today! I kept my theme very masculine too! Love all of the new “guy” stamp sets and Designer Series Paper in the new catalog!

Lets get started with my first card which is a birthday card. The card base is Soft Suede Card Stock and the background is a piece of Crumb Cake that I embossed with my favorite, the Woodgrain Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. A piece of paper from the Adventure Bound Designer Series Paper Stack is adhered on top of that. To create my tag I used the new Ornate Tag Topper punch and a piece of Very Vanilla. My image is from the Guy Greetings Photopolymer Stamp Set and is stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black and colored in with my Crumb Cake and Skin Tone Assortment Stampin’ Blendabilities Markers. A piece of Gold Baker’s Twine is knotted in the top and the tag is adhered to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. A few dots of Crystal Effects keep the tails in place. My greeting is from the Four You Stamp Set and is heat embossed on Vellum and cut out with the Project Life Cards and Labels Framelits. Some carefully placed 2-Way Glue adheres it to the card. I love the new Adventure Bound Designer Series Paper Stack, the photographic pages are great and they are all neat prints on the other side!

The second card that I have for you is a masculine take on a shaker card. For this one I used Island Indigo Card Stock for the card base. The background is another piece of paper from the Adventure Bound Designer Series Paper Stack backed with a piece of Basic Black before adhering it to the card base. I used the Gift Card Envelope & Trims Thinlit to cut out a piece of Vellum. The greeting is from the Adventure Awaits Photopolymer Stamp Set and is heat embossed in Black Stampin’ Emboss Powder. I put the envelope together with some Fast Fuse Adhesive and before closing the last flap I sprinkled in some Frosted Sequins and a few light blue ones that I had. The envelope is adhered to the card with some more Fast Fuse and two pieces of Stacked with Love Designer Washi Tape are placed on the top and bottom. I love the rippled water picture with the Island Indigo and Basic Black. The envelope makes a cool shaker for the sequins too!

For my final project I have a little treat bag. This is a made with a new Thinlit that’s pretty cool! Some Crumb Cake Card Stock is cut out with the new Mini Treat Bag Thinlits. I used some of the other elements in the Thinlits to cut out the two star borders and the center window. A piece of Window Sheet is adhered behind the middle cut out and some Night of Navy behind the stars. The enjoy is cut out form a piece of Silver Foil Sheet and adhered to the window with Multi-Purpose Glue. I put the bag together with Sticky Strip and slid a rather large chocolate chip cookie inside. A pretty neat way to give a little gift and since you make the bag yourself it can be made from and Designer Series Paper or Card Stock. You can coordinate it with anything that you would like!

Freshly Made Sketches 167

Oh yes! It’s Friday peeps! I have a lot to get done this weekend but that’s what happens when you leave everything to last minute! LOL! Oops! Yesterday work was work. I had some tacos with the ‘rents for dinner and then headed over to Heather’s for wine night! It’s so nice to just sit there and relax and talk and laugh! We all need that more often than we think! I tried a new wine by Cupcake Vineyards called Red Velvet and I have to say that it was quite delicious! I had notes of Chocolate and Blackberry! Yum! Not a bad way to roll into a Friday! Today is also my friend Grace’s birthday! Happy Birthday Grace!! I hope that you have a wonderful day!! 🙂

Before I get to my card I had to share this picture of little Daniel, he is just so cute I can’t stand it! Does’t he make an adorable little Santa?!?!

I know being the Uncle that I’m biased, but he really is too cute! 🙂

My post for today is for this week’s Freshly Made Sketches challenge from the lovely Narelle…

Super simple sketch, I knew just what I was going to use! My card begins with a base of Basic Black Card Stock. All of the pieces of Designer Series Paper are from the Stacked With Love Designer Series Paper Stack. The background is just adhered to the base. My horizontal panel is backed with Basic Black and the vertical panel with Real Red and adhered with Stampin’ Dimensionals. I stamped the image from the You Plus Me Stamp Set in Calypso Coral, punched out with the 2″ Circle Punch, it’s backed it with a piece of Calypso Coral that I cut out with the Circles Collection Framelits. The heart and the bow are from the Mini Treat Bag Thinlits Dies and are cut from Red Glimmer Paper. They are held in place with some Multi-Purpose Glue. I thought it needed something else and what better than some Matte Black Sequins?! They are adhered with Crystal Effects. I love the clean and simple look of the card and the way the bow, heart and sequins give it just the right amount of sparkle! Mojo 376

Yesterday was a good day at work! Wanna know why? I got to go on a field trip to the Apple Store! My boss’ keyboard stopped working so I went to go and swap it out for a new one. I brought the computer with me so they could run some diagnostics and make sure that it wasn’t anything hardware related. The guy that helped me was really nice, as they always are. I do love a field trip, makes the day go faster! I came home and got to see little Daniel and his devilish smile! He’s so funny, he likes loud noises which most kids don’t like. He was walking around banging a plastic spoon on everything that he could and slamming the kitchen cabinet doors shut. When I came home I retreated to the Stampin’ Galley and had a nice Skype session with my friend Eva. Before I knew it it was 10:45! Yikes! So much for getting to bed early! And no, still no Christmas cards got made but I did start on a few! Progress!

The card that I have for you today is for this week’s Mojo Monday sketch challenge…

Hmm… do you see what I see? A little window, wonder what we are going to with that?! LOL! My card begins with a base of Kraft Card Stock. The background is a piece of Cherry Cobbler on the lower half and some Whisper White on the top. Before I adhered the background to the card I used some Sticky Strip to adhere some Gold Sequin Trim across the lower half. My shaker window is a piece of Cherry Cobbler that I heat embossed the sentiment from the Mingle All the Way Stamp Set in Gold Stampin’ Emboss Powder. To create the window I used the Squares Collection and Circles Collection Framelits. Some of the Frosted Sequins and some gold ones are placed inside the window and a single layer of Foam Tape keeps them all contained. The snowflake is actually a Simon Says Stamp die called Melody and is cut out from some Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer paper and adhered with some Multi-Purpose Glue. I really do love a shaker card don’t I?! They are just a little more fun than a traditional card! I hope that you enjoyed my card for this week’s Mojo Monday sketch challenge. Paper Craft Crew 123

A little over a week until Christmas and I don’t even have my cards made! I just can’t get into the groove lately! I did come home after work last night and make some cards, just not Holiday ones! My tree still has but five ornaments on it and I haven’t even thought about shopping yet! I really need to get it together! My mind is filled with all sorts of things, just not Holiday things. Maybe I’ll have a rally this weekend… then again maybe not! LOL! How are your Holiday preparations coming? I hope that you are further along than I am!

We are halfway through the week and that means that it’s Wednesday and time for this week’s Paper Craft Crew sketch challenge…

I have really been into blues lately and purple for some reason too. Today’s card starts off with a base of Bermuda Bay Card Stock and the background is a piece of paper from the Moonlight Designer Series Paper Stack. For my panel in the middle I embossed a piece of Pool Party with the Honeycomb Textured Impressions Embossing Folder and backed it with a piece of Basic Black. My butterfly is a piece of Watercolor Paper that I cut out with the Butterfly Thinlits*. I used my Mini Ink Blending Tool and some Bermuda Bay and Blackberry Bliss Ink to give it some color and adhered it to the card with Glue Dots. My triangles are Blackberry Bliss and Bermuda Bay and are punched out with the Triangle Punch and adhered with Stampin’ Dimensionals. For the greeting I choose one from the And Many More Stamp Set and heat embossed it in White Stampin’ Emboss Powder on Basic Black with the right side flagged. The embellishment is made with another piece of the Designer Series Paper and my Epiphany Crafts Shape Studio Round Epoxy Embellishment Maker that my friend Eva sent to me. In our current sea of Holiday cards I love the spring like feel of this one and the bold bright colors! I hope that you enjoyed my card for this weeks Paper Craft Crew sketch challenge.
