Freshly Made Sketches 115

T G I F!! This week could not have come to an end quickly enough. To give you an idea of what my day was like yesterday, by the time 1:00 rolled around, I had walked 6 miles… in the office. Who needs the gym?! My post is very early today because as I have already complained about (LOL), I have to be at work at 6:15 this morning. But soon, it will all be done and I will come home for a nap. Yay! Tomorrow I’m off to Connecticut with my friend Kim to see my friend Andrew sing. What are you up to this weekend?

My inspiration for today’s card comes from this week’s Freshly Made Sketches…

The card today uses all pre-order stuff from the new Occasions Catalog. The base of my card is So Saffron Card Stock. The strip starts off with a piece of Tangerine Tango and I cut both sides using the Small Scallop Stampin’ Trimmer Rotary Blade, the piece of paper is from the Retro Fresh Designer Series Paper Pack*. My frames, cameras and arrow are cut out using the On Film Framelits Dies*, the frames from Baked Brown Sugar and the arrow and cameras from Coastal Cabana. I used a hole punch to punch out some Gold Foil Sheet for the lenses on the cameras. The greeting comes from the Hip Notes Stamp Set* and is stamped in Coastal Cabana on the arrow. Like I said yesterday, I’m really loving the new stuff and I think it’s neat that the framelits actually emboss the camera and cut it out at the same time. Freshly Made Sketches 114

So you know how I was all excited about having off on Friday? Well let me tell you, they made up for that yesterday. I did about three days worth of work today, so much for getting out early! It was rainy and nasty all day here today, they promise it will be sunny tomorrow though. We shall see! I have lots to do today. I’m dog sitting, I have some more bookmarks to make (work had asked for 40 bookmarks, they’ve now asked me to make 20 more and have them ready by Friday) and various other projects to get through. I hope all of your Thanksgiving plans go well and that you are ready to fill yourselves up and have a great evening with family.

I used Bermuda Bay Card Stock for the base of my card today. Then I used some Silver Stampin’ Emboss Powder to heat emboss my greeting which is the Be Very Merry Stamp. Next up is two strips of Silver Glimmer Paper across the lower half of the card. The Stylish Stripes Textured Impressions Embossing Folder is used to emboss a piece of Silver Foil Sheet for my panel. The snowflake is stamped in Bermuda Bay and then using a Stamp-a-ma-jig I stamped in Versa-Mark and heat embossed with Iridescent Ice Stampin’ Emboss Powder. I then used the Festive Flurry Framelits Dies to cut out the snowflake. To complete the card, I put a Frosted Finishes Embellishment in the middle of the snowflake. Lots of shine and glitter, but I really like the way the stamped and heat embossed snowflake came out, and who doesn’t like a little bling?! Yes, ladies and gentlemen, it’s that time again… FRIDAY is here!! This week at work seemed to be extra long but thankfully it will be over in a few short hours. My boss comes back from Israel on Monday, she did send us a video of her riding a camel the other day. That was quite entertaining! Tomorrow morning I’m off to Manhattan. Pray that the rain ends early so I can take a little walk and get some pictures! I also found out today that I’ll have to fend for myself on Thanksgiving as my parents will be heading down to my brother’s house. Looks like it will be a movie day for Justin!

Cindy Hall and the “Clean Team” over at Freshly Made Sketches gave us this sketch to work with this time…

I decided for a change, I would go with a solid color for the background and base of my card. The inspiration for the colors in my card comes from the I Am Me Designer Series Paper. Funny enough, I liked the way the colors worked together on the card, but ended up not using the DSP! The base of the card is Basic Gray Card Stock. My two offset pieces are Real Red and across that is a piece of Calypso Coral. The light bulb images are from the Crazy, Mixed-Up Love Stamp Set, which is apparently my “Stamp Set of the week” LOL! My Stamp-a-ma-jig helped me line them up and they are backed with a piece of Pool Party, which is mounted to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. I stamped the greeting from the same set in Versa-Mark and heat embossed it with White Stampin’ Emboss Powder. That’s it! Today’s card is simple but fun. Freshly Made Sketches 112

It was another very frigid day here, lots of wind too. It’s supposed to warm up by the weekend, let’s hope they are right! Work was insanely busy and things are piling up and I don’t like that at all. Hopefully I will be able to play some catch-up on Friday. I stayed in last night where it was warm and played with my crafty stuff. Got a few projects made and have a bunch more to finish this weekend. Ahh, soon the weekend, don’t you just love it?!?!

A very simple sketch but open to some fun interpretation. The base of my card is Strawberry Slush Card Stock. My tags are from the Stamp a Tag Kit and I threaded some Linen Thread throughout the holes for that authentic tag look! The greeting is from the Christmas Messages Stamp Set. I masked off the greeting with tape and stamped each part separately on a tag. The chevrons are also from the Stamp a Tag Kit and are stamped in Coastal Cabana along with the greeting. My stars are from the Simply Stars Stamp Set and are also stamped in Coastal Cabana and cut out with my Paper Snips. Some Stampin’ Dimensionals hold them in place and complete my simple card. Freshly Made Sketches 111

Guess what… do you know what day it is?! Yes folks, that’s right, it’s Friday!! We all know that I do loves me some Friday! Yesterday as they promised, it was rainy and cold. Today, just cold. Tonight is Chinese food and movie night with Heather and tomorrow, off to Manhattan with Andrew for some more marathon walking! I’ll have to see if I can take some pictures to post. But to hold you over, here’s one of Andrew’s famous sunset pictures…

Now on to today’s post. My inspiration for today’s card is this week’s Freshly Made Sketches…

I looked at the sketch and sat down at my desk and I saw the card before I made it. The whole card! I don’t think that has ever happened before. The base of my card is Whisper White Card Stock. The strip across the bottom is Gold Foil Sheet and I used the Chevron Border Punch to punch out some Real Red, Tempting Turquoise and Old Olive. The main component, the frame, is a piece of Whisper White Card Stock cut out with the Squares Collection Framelits Dies and I used the Christmas Messages Stamp Set to stamp my greeting on Vellum. I heat embossed it with Gold Stampin’ Emboss Powder and adhered it to the back of the frame. The base is a piece of Whisper White backed with a piece of Gold Foil Sheet and some random sequins from a Target find to create the background for the greeting. To finish it off some Real Red, Tempting Turquoise and Old Olive are punched out with the tree from the Merry Mini’s Punch Pack and adhered with Stampin’ Dimensionals. I really like the pop of turquoise with the red and green and the gold foil gives it a little shine. And like I said yesterday, I really like this card! LOL! Hello there peeps! How is it going? Me, well… like I said yesterday work is insanely busy. We have a conference tomorrow and all of the last minute stuff needs to be done today. What that really means is that everything needs to be done today! I did have another nice quiet evening at home last night. I sat at my craft desk and puttered around. It was very productive too, I got three cards made. Love it when that happens!

Today have my card for this week’s Freshly Made Sketches. This week our sketch is provided by the talented Rita…

I really like the fact that it has symmetry but is off just a little. The base of my card is So Saffron Card Stock and the background is a piece of Very Vanilla that I embossed with the Honeycomb Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. The three bees are from the Backyard Basics Stamp Set ~~Secret Garden Stamp Set~~ and are stamped in Jet Black Staz-On and cut out with the coordinating Backyard Basics Framelits Dies ~~Secret Garden Framelits Dies~~. I punched a piece of So Saffron out with the Hexagon Punch and the bees and hexagon are adhered to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. The greeting is from one of the Paper Pumpkin Kits and is cut out with the Itty Bitty Banners Framelits Dies. I threaded some Linen Thread through one of the Subtles Designer Buttons and adhered it with a Mini Glue Dot to complete the card. I love the softness of the So Saffron with the Very Vanilla and the bees are just neat! I appreciate you stopping by to see my card for this week’s Freshly Made Sketches challenge from Rita. Freshly Made Sketches 109

Ready… set… it’s FRIDAY!! LOL! I do get rather excited at the prospect of the weekend don’t I?! Yesterday was back to busy at work but I knew that would happen. I went to the gym straight after work and am actually really enjoying it. After I came home I puttered around in the craft area and made a few things. That’s always my favorite way to end the day! I’m still not sure what I’m doing about the blog, I will keep you posted.

For today’s card I have my Freshly Made Sketches card for this week’s challenge from Jen M….

A SUPER simple sketch wouldn’t you say?! I have done my best to keep my card as clean as possible. The base of my card is Very Vanilla Card Stock. The background is a piece of Primrose Petals that I embossed with the Pretty Print Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. My main panel is a piece of Primrose Petals that I backed with a piece of Very Vanilla and a piece of Vellum Card Stock. I cut the love out with the Expressions Thinlits Dies from Gold Foil Sheet and adhered it with 2-Way Glue. I also used some more Gold Foil Sheet to cut out two butterflies with the Beautiful Wings Embosslit and some Stampin’ Dimensionals adhere them to the card. Freshly Made Sketches 108

Last night I went to Chili’s for dinner with my friend Danielle and then we went to see my friend Andrew perform with his A Cappella group at the Long Island Children’s Museum. They opened for another group called Cluster. Both of them were amazing! It really is incredible what they do, they make it sound like there are instruments involved and there aren’t any. Now for today’s post which is for this week’s Freshly Made Sketches. This week’s sketch is provided by Narelle…

Pretty neat layout huh?! The base of my card is Old Olive Card Stock. I used a small piece of paper from the Season of Style Designer Series Paper Stack for the background. The strip of Cherry Cobbler that goes across the middle is embossed with the Delicate Designs Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. My panel in the middle starts off with a piece of Old Olive and adhered to to of that is a piece of Gold Foil Sheet. The flags are more Gold Foil Sheet that I cut out with the Bitty Banners Framelits Dies. For the greeting I stamped the got mistletoe from the Very Merry Tags Stamp Set in Old Olive and used the Extra Large Oval Punch to punch it out. Some Cherry Cobbler Dazzling Details fills in the berries and the lips are from the Best of Love Stamp Set and are stamped in Cherry Cobbler and adhered with a Stampin’ Dimensional. Sometimes you just need a traditional holiday card and the Gold Foil Sheet pairs really nicely with the Old Olive and Cherry Cobbler. Freshly Made Sketches 107

So I did my little commute into the city yesterday, and just like I suspected, I was reminded why I don’t do it every day anymore. I did get lucky in the respect that it didn’t rain, I had a very nice lunch with my friend Kim and I got all the work accomplished that I was supposed to; all in all it was a good day. And bonus, today’s Friday and we all know that Friday is my favorite day of the week! Not sure what’s up for the weekend yet, but I think I’ll be trekking into Manhattan at some point. Anything exciting going on with you?

Freshly Made Sketches is my card for today’s post. This week’s sketch is by Jennifer T…

This week’s sketch is definitely very clean. I was going to go with the obvious, a flower or a snowflake, but I decided to try something different. I used Whisper White Card Stock for the base of my card. The background consists of a piece of Brights Stack Designer Series Paper backed with a piece of Early Espresso. I used one of the tags from the Pretty Presents Designer Tags, stamped the greeting from Merry Little Christmas in Early Espresso, and again in Real Red to trim out the word “little” and pop it up on a Stampin’ Dimensional. I trimmed off some of the bottom of the tag and then used the Tasteful Trim Bigs XL Die and a piece of Early Espresso Card Stock rick-rack across the bottom. To finish off the tag, I tied a piece of Early Espresso 1/4″ Stitched Grosgrain Ribbon. Some more Stampin’ Dimensionals adhere it to the card. I really like the Tasteful Trim Big XL Die, I don’t know why it took me so long to get it. And I think it’s kind of neat the way the red polka dots fit right inside the rick-rack. Freshly Made Sketches 106

Yesterday was just like summer here! It got up to 84 degrees and was sunny with a slight breeze. We have been so lucky to have this weather and I’m enjoying every minute of it. It’s going to be a little cooler but more humid today and should stay that way through the weekend. Wahoo! (Paper Pumpkin pun intended!) I wanted to take a minute and thank Brian for his wonderful post yesterday and to thank all of you for your kind comments. I really am very happy that he and I have become such good friends, I couldn’t ask for a better one. I did see all of the comments on some kind of tutorial and if I have some time this weekend I will put together something. I couldn’t show how to do the whole card, that would be a mini-series! LOL! I’m really happy that you all enjoyed the card!

A very clean sketch indeed! I went with a really rich holiday card, I’m loving the gold, it’s everywhere at the moment! The base of my card is a piece of Cherry Cobbler Card Stock. For the background I used a piece of paper from the Season of Style Designer Series paper Pack and backed it with a piece of Brushed Gold Card Stock. Yup, there’s that wreath again! LOL! I heat embossed the Wonderful Wreath Stamp in Gold Stampin’ Emboss Powder and used my Circles Collection Framelits to cut it out. The greeting is from the Greetings of the Season Stamp Set (which is a carry over from last year’s Holiday Catalog) and that is heat embossed in Cherry Cobbler Stampin’ Emboss Powder on Brushed Gold and backed with a piece of Cherry Cobbler. Two thin strips of Cherry Cobbler are adhered across the top and bottom and some Stampin’ Dimensionals adhere it to the card. I love the simple elegance and richness of the Cherry Cobbler and the Brushed Gold. A very regal Holiday card indeed!
