  • Pals Paper Arts 174

I’m off to Manhattan for a bit today but I will be doing some serious crafting later. Nothing out of the ordinary but today is a special day because it’s World Card Making Day! Will you be making some cards today? If you do then you need to participate because Stampin’ Up! has a special contest to help celebrate. Here are all of the details:

There are two ways to enter:

    • E-mail a photo of a card, or of you making a card, made with Stampin’ Up! product on World Cardmaking Day to wcmd2013@stampinup.com.
    • Post a photo of a card, or of you making a card, made with Stampin’ Up! product on World Cardmaking Day on Instagram. Mention us by typing @stampinup and use the hashtag #wcmd2013 in the description.

This contest is open to everyone-demonstrators, customers, friends, spouses, children . . . you get the idea. However, there are a few conditions:

    • You must be over the age of 18 to win a prize.
    • You can enter as many times as you wish, but each entry must feature a different card.
    • Contest will last all day on October 5, from 12:01 AM to 12:00 PM.
    • We will randomly select 100 winners from our North American markets to receive a Paper Pumpkin Kit (valued at $19.95 US/ $20.95 CA)*, and we will select 50 winners from our South Pacific and European markets to receive the Naughty and Nice Rotary Stamp and Season of Style Designer Washi Tape.

A selection of pictures will be posted to Stampin’ Up!’s World Cardmaking Day Pinterest Board and the winners announced in a later current update.

That’s pretty neat huh?! I’ll also post my mum’s Birthday card tomorrow for you to see and some other cards for you in addition to my regular post! 🙂

Stampin’ Up! released a new product yesterday called Pop & Place Gift Tags & Stamps. It’s a kit that comes with over 70 pre-cut tags and a Photopolymer Stamp Set. The best part is that the tags match a lot of our punches and dies. You can get just the tags, just the stamps, both the tags and the stamps or you can get a starter kit with the stamps, tags, a Soft Suede Stampin’ Spot and a Clear Block C. You can see all of the pricing on the flyer below and if you would like a PDF you can click here to get one. I think it’s a really neat idea and would also make a great gift for someone!

I love the stamps! Shocker! LOL! Now for today’s post I have my Pals Paper Arts card for this week’s color challenge…

    PPA 174

Remember when I said that yesterday it was very unusual for me to use a color challenge for the obvious card? Well, I went in the complete opposite direction today! The base of today’s card is Baked Brown Sugar that I cut out with my Circle Card Thinlits Die. I left the right side over the top to make the extended piece, I like to do that because it gives you a little more space to write. The middle of the front circle is a piece of Pumpkin Pie that I cut out with the Circles Collection Framelits, I also used them to cut out the ring around the circle. Some Pear Pizzaz cut out with the Little Leaves Sizzlit Die goes on top of the circle and also on either side at the bottom. One of the stamps from the Christmas Collectibles Stamp Set is stamped in Pumpkin Pie and punched out with the Christmas Ornament Punch. In the middle is one of the In Color Boutique Details in Baked Brown Sugar. On the inside of the circle is a piece of Pear Pizzaz punched out with the 2 1/2″ Circle Punch and the greeting is from the Christmas Messages Stamp Set and is cut out with the Deco Labels Collection Framelits Dies. My favorite part of the card is the way that the ring circles the outside and then the inside. Also, when I think of Christmas I don’t necessarily think of red and green, decorations are all kinds of colors. I hope that you enjoyed my card for this week’s Pals Paper Arts color challenge. Thank you for stopping by to see my card and my little tangent above! I wish you the best Saturday ever!

  • Freshly Made Sketches 106

Yesterday was just like summer here! It got up to 84 degrees and was sunny with a slight breeze. We have been so lucky to have this weather and I’m enjoying every minute of it. It’s going to be a little cooler but more humid today and should stay that way through the weekend. Wahoo! (Paper Pumpkin pun intended!) I wanted to take a minute and thank Brian for his wonderful post yesterday and to thank all of you for your kind comments. I really am very happy that he and I have become such good friends, I couldn’t ask for a better one. I did see all of the comments on some kind of tutorial and if I have some time this weekend I will put together something. I couldn’t show how to do the whole card, that would be a mini-series! LOL! I’m really happy that you all enjoyed the card!

Today I have my card for this week’s Freshly Made Sketches but first I want to thank Linda C. for choosing me as her Perfect Prince for last week’s sketch! You can see the original post here and the Freshly Made Sketches post here. This week we have a sketch from the sweet Amy…

    Freshly Made Sketches #106

A very clean sketch indeed! I went with a really rich holiday card, I’m loving the gold, it’s everywhere at the moment! The base of my card is a piece of Cherry Cobbler Card Stock. For the background I used a piece of paper from the Season of Style Designer Series paper Pack and backed it with a piece of Brushed Gold Card Stock. Yup, there’s that wreath again! LOL! I heat embossed the Wonderful Wreath Stamp in Gold Stampin’ Emboss Powder and used my Circles Collection Framelits to cut it out. The greeting is from the Greetings of the Season Stamp Set (which is a carry over from last year’s Holiday Catalog) and that is heat embossed in Cherry Cobbler Stampin’ Emboss Powder on Brushed Gold and backed with a piece of Cherry Cobbler. Two thin strips of Cherry Cobbler are adhered across the top and bottom and some Stampin’ Dimensionals adhere it to the card. I love the simple elegance and richness of the Cherry Cobbler and the Brushed Gold. A very regal Holiday card indeed! Thank you so much for stopping by to see my Freshly Made Sketches card for this week’s challenge from Amy and thank you again for all of your wonderful comments! Have a great Thursday and I’ll see you back here for tomorrow for my Design Team card for Fab Friday! 🙂

  • Paper Players 165

There must be a petition someone could start to make the weekends three days! They just go way too fast! I had a busy day yesterday making my swaps for the Control Freaks Holiday Swap. I also made a few other cards and when I was finished I wanted to make some more. I have issues don’t I?!?! LOL! I love a little crafting! How did everything go with your weekend? We are to have more lovely weather this week here on Long Island! YEAH!!

Today’s post is for this week’s Paper Players challenge. This week we have a Tic-Tac-Toe challenge from Ann…

    Paper Players #165

I went with the middle row across; Patterned Paper, Embossing & Any Shade of Blue. The base of my card is Island Indigo Card Stock. I used some Pool Party Stampin’ Emboss Powder and my heat tool to emboss the greeting from the Snow Day Stamp Set across the bottom. The background is a piece of Whisper White that I embossed with the Northern Flurry Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. Two strips of paper from the Winter Frost Designer Series Paper Stack frame the right and bottom. The image is also from the Snow Day Stamp Set, the snowman is stamped in Soft Sky, his eyes, buttons and arms in Early Espresso, his nose in Tangerine Tango and his hat and scarf in Island Indigo. I mounted him to a piece of Pool Party that I cut out with the Ovals Collection Framelits Dies. I think he is just the cutest little snowman ever, don’t you? So let’s review; dry and heat embossing, patterned paper and a few shades of blue, yup, looks like I covered them all! Thank you so much for spending some time with me today to see my Paper Players card for this week’s Tic-Tac-Toe challenge from Ann. I hope you all have the best Monday ever! 🙂

  • Mojo 312

I really couldn’t be happier with the weather here this week. It has been just beautiful, perfect, lovely weather. Sunny and warm but not hot with a slight breeze, I wish it would stay like this all the time! It was another fun filled we have network issues day at work yesterday. Let’s hope that our so called IT department has it all straightened out today. The lack of internet access really impedes my progress! LOL! I’m pretty happy that it’s Thursday too! 🙂

For today’s post I have my Mojo Monday card for this week’s sketch from Julee Tilman…

    Mojo312

As I looked at the sketch I thought hmm… this would be a good card for a spinner card and then I thought I have never made one of those before! Can you believe that?!?! My card starts off with a base of Old Olive Card Stock and a plain piece of Cherry Cobbler for the background. I used some Season of Style Designer Series Paper backed with some Old Olive for the base of my spinner. Using the Word Window Punch I punched out the slit. The greeting is from the Tags 4 You Stamp Set and is heat embossed with Gold Stampin’ Emboss Powder and punched out with the Label Bracket Punch. Some pennies and Stampin’ Dimensionals create the spinner on the back. A little Champagne Glimmer Paper cut out with the Bitty Banners Framelits Dies and some gold sequins complete the card. I have to admit that I played with card for quite a while when I finished it and I thought today’s more traditional colors were a nice opposite to yesterday’s very non-traditional ones! Thanks so much for coming by to see my Mojo Monday Sketch card for this week’s challenge. Enjoy your day peeps! 🙂

  • Paper Craft Crew 60

Wednesday already! This week is moving along at a nice pace! Work was loads of fun today as the network was down for most of the day which makes for a very non-productive time. The weather has been absolutely gorgeous here for the past couple of days and is supposed to stay like this through the weekend. On a happy note I finally finished the third Hunger Games book. I think I started reading it 8 months ago. My flight over the weekend prompted me to finish it and I have to say it was pretty good. I use to read all the time but there is just not enough time to in the day as it is and to add one more thing, well, you know how it goes!

Before we get to today’s post I wanted to let you know that Stampin’ Up! has released another Photopolymer Stamp Set just in time for Halloween called Bite Me. It has some great images and a really cool spider web. You can see the flyer below or click here for a PDF.

    Flyer_photopolymer_Bite_Sept20_NA

Now for today’s post that is for this week’s Paper Craft Crew Challenge. This week’s sketch has an interesting layout…

    PCCCS060 9-25-2013

I decided on a Holiday card that is very non-tradiotional in it’s colors, so unlike me huh?! The base of the card is Pool Party Card Stock. For the background I used a piece of paper from the Season of Style Designer Series Paper Stack on top and a piece of Midnight Muse on the bottom. Before I adhered it to the base I used some Sticky Strip to adhere a piece of Midnight Muse 3/8″ Stitched Satin Ribbon across the seam. The greeting is from the Joy to the World Stamp Set and is heat embossed in Pool Party Stampin’ Emboss Powder on Midnight muse and is backed with a piece of Pool Party. For the small ornaments I stamped two from the Very Merry Tags Stamp Set in Pool Party and punched them out with the Mosaic Punch. The large ornament is from the Christmas Collectibles Stamp Set, stamped in Pool Party and Punched out with the Christmas Ornament Punch. The very merry is punched out with the 7/8″ Scallop Circle Punch. All of the elements and greeting are adhered with Stampin’ DImensionals. Three Basic Jewels Rhinestones give the card a little sparkle and finish it off nicely. I really like the colors, they are a bit patriotic but fun for a Holiday card! Thanks very much for dropping by today to see my Paper Craft Crew Design Team card for this week’s sketch. Don’t forget to stop by the blog and see the other inspiration from the Design Team and enter yours in the gallery! Here’s to wishing you a fun filled Wednesday! 🙂

  • Fab Friday and a Fabulous Friday!

Hello my friends! How are you? I am fantastic! As you know I took a little trip on Thursday night. I was a somewhat evasive about my destination, just for a little fun. My trip took me on a Delta flight to Atlanta, GA. I came to visit an amazing friend of mine… Mr. Brian King! We spent the morning yesterday at Historic Banning Mills doing the canopy tour. We had a great time on the ZIp-Line tour, flying high above the trees (about 300 feet!). After some lunch we came back and spent some time in the Fungeon! Below are some pictures from the Zip-Line Tour… IMG_1876

I had an amazing day with my awesome friend, definitely a Fab Friday! Which brings me to today’s post which is for this week’s Fab Friday

    Fab Fri 27 Sketch 9-20-2013

Do you see what I see… a window! The base of my card is Real Red Card Stock. I took a piece of Crumb Cake and used my Squares Collection Framelits Dies to cut out the window. The “scene” through the window is created using the Lovely as a Tree Stamp Set stamped in Soft Suede. I inked the stamp once and stamped it four times to give it some depth. Some Stampin’ Dimensional pieces adhere the window to the trees. The Wonderful Wreath Stamp is stamped in Always Artichoke and cut out with my Paper Snips. Yes, I have cut that wreath out a lot! I used my Real Red Stampin’ Write Marker to color in the berries and a piece of “Vintage” Real Red 5/8″ Grosgrain Ribbon “tied” in a bow completes the wreath. The greeting is from the Joy to the World Stamp Set and is stamped in Always Artichoke and backed with a piece of Crumb Cake. I ticked the corners before I adhered them together. You can never have enough Christmas cards and I have a pretty good stash going already! Go and take a look at the Fab Friday Blog and see what fun creations my teammates have come up with. Thank you very much for stopping by to see my Fab Friday Design Team card and sharing in my fun adventures with Brian. Have a great Saturday! 🙂 Fab Friday 27

  • Control Freaks September Blog Tour

    freakwelcome2013

Hello everyone and welcome to the September Control Freaks Blog Tour Featuring Halloween Projects! I’m on a plane at the moment on my way to see a very good friend. Nothing like posting from 30,000 feet! If you are following the tour you should have arrived here from my good friend and very talented stamper Sandy Mathis’ blog. Her projects were just amazing weren’t they?!?! I have two fun and different projects for you this month. A nifty Halloween Wreath and a fun Halloween clock! Yes… a clock!

First up I have my Wreath. I was in a store the other day and I saw this pre-packaged halloween wreath and I thought well I can make that with my Stampin’ Up! goodies so that’s exactly what I did! For the backing of the wreath I cut out a piece of Basic Black Card Stock with my Circles Collection Framelits Dies. The cones are made from 12 sheets of Witches’ Brew Designer Series Paper cut in 4″ x 4″ squares. Out came the hot glue gun and after about two full sticks my cones were assembled and glued to the base. The center of the wreath is a piece of Basic Gray, again cut out with the Circles Framelits, and a rosette made from some more Witches’ Brew DSP. A piece of Summer Starfruit cut out with the Labels Collection Framelits Dies and pierced with the Festive Paper-Piercing Pack is the backing for the stamps. Both of the stamps are from the Halloween Bash Stamp Set, the Pumpkin Pie one is cut out with the Decorative Label Punch and the Basic Black one with the Scallop Oval Punch. They are all adhered to one another with Stampin’ Dimensionals. A pretty neat take on a wreath that you can make larger just by changing the dimensions of your squares!

    Control Freaks Sept Blog Tour

My second project is a really fun one. I was inspired when I was meandering through one of the local craft stores and happened down the clock aisle. I thought wouldn’t it be fun to make a Halloween clock?! For the base of the clock I used my Circles Collection Framelits to cut out a piece of Coaster Board and a piece of Witches’ Brew Designer Series Paper. I glued them to each other using Multi-Purpose glue and used my Paper Snips to make the hole in the middle for the movement to go through. The numbers are from the ABC-123 Sketch Alphabet & Numbers Stamp Set and are stamped in Pumpkin Pie and punched out with the 7/8″ Scallop Circle Punch. All of the other stamped images and greeting are from the Halloween Hello Stamp Set and are stamped in Pumpkin Pie too. I used my Pumpkin Pie and Daffodil Delight Stampin’ Write Markers to color in the candy corn and adhered everything to the clock face with Stampin’ Dimensionals. I really love the way the greeting spins around the center and the candy makes it’s way around the clock face too!

    Control Freaks Sept Blog Tour

So what do you think?!?! A little different and fun huh?! I really hope that you enjoyed my projects for this month’s Control Freaks Blog Tour featuring Halloween Projects. Now you are off to see the talented Connie Babbert’s projects. She always has some fun ideas! Thank you for stopping by and enjoy the rest of the tour! 🙂

  • Freshly Made Sketches 104

A very happy Thursday to you! It’s Friday for me and I’m getting out of work early because I have yet to pack for my little trip. I spent the evening last night finishing up last minute projects. There is a Control Freaks Blog Tour tonight so don’t forget to come back and see the projects I have this month. They are very different and I think you’ll like them! Before I get to today’s post I wanted to let you know that Stampin’ Up! has released two new Photopolymer Stamp Sets. They are called Map It Out and Greetings From and they work really well together. You can see pictures of the flyers below and if you click on the names of the sets you can download a PDF.

Now on to today’s post. This week’s Freshly Made Sketches has a fun sketch for us provided by Linda…

    Freshly Made Sketches #104

Yup, love it, there is a flag on there! For the base of my card I used a piece of Smoky Slate Textured Card Stock. The background is a piece of Winter Frost Specialty Designer Series Paper backed with a piece of Pool Party. I used Pool Party Stampin’ Emboss Powder to emboss the Oh Holy Night Stamp onto Island Indigo. A few thin strips of Pool Party help frame it and some Stampin’ DImensionals adhere it to the card. A nice simple card but the heat embossing gives it that little extra! Thank you very much for coming by to see my Freshly Made Sketches card for this week’s challenge. I hope that you enjoy your day and the Control Freaks Tour later on. Have an excellent day peeps! 🙂

  • Paper Craft Crew 59

Hello peeps! How are you all doing today? I’m good because it’s Wednesday and tomorrow is my Friday! It was chilly here yesterday, only got up to 68 degrees. They say we are to be back in the 80’s by the weekend so just a little taste of what’s to come weather wise. I have lot’s to do before my departure so I will be a busy boy this evening!

Wednesday also means that it’s time for this week’s Paper Craft Crew sketch challenge…

I inked up a new set for this one! The base of my card is Cherry Cobbler Card Stock. For the background on both the large square on top and the small squares along the bottom I used some Brushed Gold. The pretty poinsettia is from the Joyful Christmas Stamp Set and is stamped in Cherry Cobbler on Cherry Cobbler. The leaves are stamped in Pear Pizzaz on Pear Pizzaz and the little dots in the center are punched out with the Cupcake Builder Punch. The ribbon is Pear Pizzaz 3/8″ Taffeta Ribbon with a Antique Brad on the left. The joy is stamped in Cherry Cobbler from the A Banner Christmas Stamp Set and cut out with my Paper Snips. I really love the Brushed Gold with the Cherry Cobbler, it gives the card a rich look and I don’t think I have actually used the Cupcake Builder Punch to make a cupcake in a while! I hope that you enjoyed my Paper Craft Crew Design Team card for this week’s sketch challenge. Make sure to go over to the blog to see my fellow design team’s cards and enter your one in the gallery. Thank you for visiting and have a good day my friends! 🙂

  • Paper Players 163

How was the weekend? Mine… not too bad. I went into Manhattan yesterday to see a friend, it was a beautiful day. Still a bit crisp but it did warm up. I think this is my favorite time to be in the city, you can walk around with overheating. I came home and did some puttering in the craft area, picked up my daughter from work and ran some errands. Monday, you just come way too fast!

My post for today is for this week’s Paper Players challenge. This time around Anne Marie has given us a CAS for the kids challenge…

    Paper Players #163

I have had this idea in my head for a little bit and I thought this would be the perfect time to try it out. The base of my card is Basic Black Card Stock. The background is a piece of Smoky Slate. All of the images on the top half of the card are from the “Vintage” Out on a Limb Stamp Set. The branch, stamped in Early Espresso, and the cat, stamped in Basic Black, are stamped directly onto the background. The super cute little witch is stamped in Basic Black and colored in with my Blush Blossom, Pumpkin Pie and Pistachio Pudding Stampin’ Write Markers. I used Crushed Curry to stamp the broom and colored it in with So Saffron. She is then punched out with the 2 1/2″ Circle Punch and the edges are sponged in Smoky Slate. The two clouds are stamped in Smoky Slate and cut out with my Paper Snips. On to the idea part of my card. I stamped the greeting from the Delightful Dozen Stamp Set in Pumpkin Pie. Using my Stampin’ Trimmer and the Rotary attachment I cut a piece of Gumball Green with the Perforating Stampin’ Trimmer Rotary Cutting Blade and used some Sticky Strip to adhere it over the greeting. The spider web is from the “Vintage” Spooky Bingo Bits Stamp Set and the “pull” is stamped with the Designer Typeset Photopolymer Stamp Set in Pumpkin Pie. Now here comes the fun part, you pull open the top to reveal the greeting underneath! What kid (or adult for that matter) wouldn’t want to do that?! Pretty cool huh?! Oh yes, there will be more of these!! Thank you very much for checking out my Paper Players card for this week’s CAS for the kids challenge from Anne Marie. I appreciate your visit and hope you have a zippy day! 🙂
