1600!!

So today is a little bit of a milestone for me! I started blogging back on August 6, 2011 and I have enjoyed every minute of it! I get to share my days and creativity with some of the most amazing and kind people in the world! You all tell me that I get to inspire you but you also inspire me every day with your kind comments and little “chats” that we have! I had no idea that I would make this a daily part of my life when I started but I’m so glad that that is what it has become! Blogging for me, making a card and sharing some of my life and adventures, has become as routine as brushing my teeth! I look forward to making my card and then typing the post every day. The best part of it all is reading the comments! And I have responded to every comment since the start and have made some wonderful friends in the process! And as you have seen in the title of today’s post it’s my 1600th! That is just crazy! So I want to thank you all for coming along on my little journey and I look forward to the next 1600!

Yesterday was a good day! I stopped at Heather’s for lunch again, those panini’s are just too good to pass up! From there I headed over to Scrap-A-Latte to chat with Renee and prepare for class. Danielle stopped and got us some Blaze Pizza for dinner, her first time halving it and she loved it! Class was great as it always is and I got to catch up with Danielle which was awesome! On the way home I stopped at Heather’s again and had a glass of wine with her and Stephanie, what better way to end the day?! This afternoon I’ll head back over to the store for the second night of Card Class, can’t wait!

My card that I have for you today is for this week’s Paper Players challenge…

Paper Players #277

I’m not gonna lie, I was a little stumped by this one! After some playing around I finally came up with something that I liked! The card base is Neenah Solar White 110lb Card Stock. I used the Lawn Fawn Stitched Rectangles to cut out a piece of Tempting Turquoise and adhered it to the card a little over to the left and top with SNAIL. Next up is a piece of paper from the Crate Paper Kiss, Kiss 6×6 Paper Pad, it’s cut out with the Lawn Fawn Stitched Squares and adhered to the card with Fun Foam and SNAIL. My two hearts are cut out using the Lawn Fawn Stitched Heart Stackables from Melon Mambo and Real Red. The larger is adhered with SNAIL and the smaller with Foam Tape. I used the Simon Says Stamp Scribble Heart and Arrow Craft Dies and the Lawn Fawn Scripty XOXO to cut out some Black 110lb and adhered them both to the card with Multi-Matte Medium. Over the arrow is a Melon Mambo heart punched out with the EK Success Small Heart Punch and it’s adhered with Foam Tape. For a little sparkle I added a few Pretty Pink Posh Aquamarine, Marshmallow, Pink Peonies and Raspberry Sequins. I do think that the card is neat and would make a great Valentine or even a just because I love you card! I hope that you enjoyed my card for this week’s Paper Players color challenge! Thank you sooooooo much for coming by today to celebrate my 1600th blog post too! Have an absolutely amazing Friday! 🙂

SIP Challenge 30 – Colors!

It was way too cold for me here yesterday, 32?! Nope, too cold! I was at Scrap-A-Latte all day and I even made a little card with some scraps. Sandy stopped by to see me for a little while and I spoke to Renee who was busy meeting with people and running around CHA! I got home around 7:20 and ate some chili from mum. I got an order from Stampin’ Up! yesterday too, can’t wait to play with some of those new goodies! I’m back at Scrap-A-Latte again today, everything in the store is 20% off and all patterned paper and embellishments are 40% off, Renee needs to make some room for the new stuff that is coming! I also have somewhat of a big milestone coming up on Friday, I’ll tell you more about that then!

Tuesday and it’s time for another Stamp, Ink, Paper Challenge, this week we have some colors for you to work with…

SIP 30 Color Challenge 800

I made a fun card using a bunch of die cuts layered together! The card base is Neenah Solar White 110lb Card Stock. I used the Simon Says Stamp Stitched Rectangles to cut out a piece of Rose Red. Some Crumb Cake is cut out with the Simon Says Stamp Stitched Ovals and adhered to the Rose Red rectangle and that is adhered to the card with Fun Foam and SNAIL. Another piece of Rose Red is cut out with the Calliope Flourish Craft Die and adhered to the card with Multi-Matte Medium. Some Gold Foil Sheet is cut out with the Simon Says Stamp Ariana Wreath and Leanna Butterfly. I adhered the wreath with Multi-Matte Medium and the butterfly with a piece of Kool Tak Clear Foam Tape. My greeting is from the Hero Arts Acts of Kindness Photopolymer Stamp Set and is heat embossed on a piece of Vellum with Gold Stampin’ Emboss Powder and punched out with the 1 3/8″ Circle Punch. That is also adhered with Kool Tak Clear Foam Tape. I love all of the layered die cuts and the fun simple greeting! I hope that you enjoyed my Design Team card for this week’s Stamp, Ink, Paper Color Challenge! Mojo Monday 430

Thanks for the feedback on the new blog design! I appreciate your comments! The biggest complaint was the header scrolling down and covering up some of the page so I have changed it so that it stays at the top! I hope that makes it easier for the mobile devices! Yesterday it rained all day so I was crafty in the morning! Best kind of day to do that! Around noon my friend Maureen came by and picked me up, we went to McDonald’s for lunch. I haven’t had McDonald’s in years! From there it was off to Stop & Shop to do some grocery shopping. We dropped them off at her house and then came back to my house and took down the Christmas tree. I kept it up as long as I could! LOL! After we finished with that we watched Juno, I forgot how funny that movie was! She left around 5:00 and I went and had some dinner. Back home to Skype with Eva for a bit and that was my Sunday! I’ll be over at Scrap-A-Latte for the day today and tomorrow, Renee will be back on Wednesday with loads of info from CHA!

What better way to start another week than with a new Mojo Monday sketch?! Here is this week’s…

Mojo430

I used one of my favorite sets from Simon that now has coordinating dies! The card base is Neenah Solar White 110lb Card Stock. All of the images and greetings are from the Simon Says Stamp I See You Photopolymer Stamp Set. I heat embossed the heart on a piece of Real Red with Gold Stampin’ Emboss Powder and cut out with the coordinating die. The panel down the left side is a piece of paper form the PinkFresh Studios Christmas Wishes 6×6 Paper Pad. I adhered it to the card with Fun Foam and SNAIL tucking the heart under it. Across the top is a piece of Real Red with the left side flagged. I heat embossed the i see you in Hero Arts White Embossing Powder and adhered it to the card with SNAIL and more Fun Foam. The speech bubble is stamped in Simon Says Stamp Cloudy Sky Ink and cut out with the coordinating die, some Foam Tape holds it in place. The Vellum square has the greeting heat embossed again in Hero Arts White. My glasses are heat embossed in more Gold Stampin’ Emboss Powder on Black 110lb and along with the ampersand which is stamped in Versa-Fine Onyx Black, are both cut out with the coordinating dies and adhered to the vellum with Foam Tape. I hid the adhesive behind the glasses to adhere the vellum to  the card. A few Pretty Pink Posh Gold and Red Sequins complete the card! I really do love that set, especially the glasses and heart! I hope that you enjoyed my Design Team card for this week’s Mojo Monday Sketch Challenge! Stop by the blog and check out the rest of the Team’s cards and enter yours in the gallery! Thank you so much for your visit today! Enjoy your Monday! 🙂

Winter Jingle Birthday

So… you may notice that the blog looks a little different today?! Well, I finally got some time to play around with the new template that I got oh so long ago and I started to get it set up! There are still some things that I need to figure out but it’s functional and that’s all I can hope for for the time being! LOL! When you come to the home page by typing jkcardsonline.com into your browser you will get the new and improved home page! The first thing that you should see are the last three posts and under that is my little about me blurb and at the bottom is the store. If you have any issues with the site please let me know in the comments! I appreciate it!

Yesterday I was very productive and crafty! I got a bunch of cards made in the morning and then I headed over to Scrap-A-Latte in the afternoon to drop off the samples for next week’s class. Renee is away at CHA and Angie was minding the store, her hubby was there so we chatted for a bit. They both found out what a fountain of useless information I am, Marty was doing a crossword and asking for answers, I had them! LOL! I came home briefly and then stopped by my friend Maureen’s for a bit. Her son and his friend were painting the bathroom, such a fun smell! From there I came home and worked on my card for today and fiddled around with the blog.

Speaking of my card, it’s a nice simple birthday one for today! The base is Neenah Solar White 110lb Card Stock. My background is a piece of paper from the Doodlebug Polar Pals 6×6 Paper Pad. I used the Simon Says Stamp Jingle Snowflakes Craft Die to cut out three pieces of Solar White 80lb and adhered them to each other and the card with Elmer’s Multi-Purpose Spray Adhesive. Along the bottom is a thin strip of Gold Glimmer Paper and a strip of White that I stamped my greeting from the Simon Says Stamp Birthday Messages Photopolymer Stamp Set in Simon Says Stamp Surf Blue Ink. A few Pretty Pink Posh Gold Sequins around the die cut finish the card. I do love the simplicity of the card and that die cut is just cool! Get it, snowflakes, cool! LOL! I hope that you enjoyed my card for today! Thanks so much for stopping by and let me know what you think of the new blog design! Have a super duper Sunday! 🙂

TGIF Challenges 37

It’s the weekend peeps and it’s going to be a wet one here. They are saying that we are to have some rain today into tomorrow morning with the worst of it ending by mid-day Sunday. Looks like a good weekend to be crafty! I went to see Star Wars – The Force Awakens with Brian yesterday morning and it was awesome! Lots of battles, a great story and incredible special effects! I will definitely have to see that one again in the theaters! On a historic note, I went to see the movie in the same theater that I saw the original Star Wars with my dad and brother in when I was 7! When I got home I saw Daniel for a bit and then FaceTimed with Andrea while I made my card for today. After dinner I had a relaxing evening with the TV and some coffee, a good way to end a Friday!

Andrea and I both decided that we would enter the TGIF Challenges for this week, they have a fun sketch…

TGIF 37

I knew exactly what I was going to do as soon as I saw this one! The card base is Neenah Solar White 110lb Card Stock with the front covered in a piece of Black 110lb. For the background I used some Wendy Vecchi Gold Embossing Paste along with the Simon Says Stamp Falling Stars Stencil on a piece of Night of Navy. It’s adhered to the card with SNAIL. Down in the right corner is a piece of Gold Glimmer Paper that I cut out with the Simon Says Stamp Painted Hello Die along with a piece of Black 110lb. They are adhered to each other with Multi-Matte Medium. I then punched out two circles with the 3/4′ Circle Punch and adhered a strand of DMC Gold Thread in between them with a Glue Dot. The circle is then adhered to the card with another Glue Dot and the hello with some more Multi-Matte Medium. A few Pretty Pink Posh Gold Sequins scattered amongst the stars complete the card! I love the way that the gold embossing paste looks against the navy card stock and that hello die is still one of my faves! I hope that you enjoyed my card for the TGIF Challenge sketch! Thank you for coming by and I wish you all a stupendous Saturday! 🙂

Freshly Made Sketches 218

Happy Friday! Yesterday I got some things done around the house and crafted for a bit while I FaceTimed with Andrea. Taylor and Kiera stopped by for a visit and watched My Strange Addiction on YouTube, now that is an odd show! I had some dinner and then ran to BJ’s and Target with Heather . She dropped me back off at my house and I got in my car and headed over to her house for Thirsty Thursday! Brian, Stephanie and Adam came too! We ended up watching Lip Sync Battle with Channing Tatum and Jenna Dewan. That is an awesome show! Today I plan to get some crafty things finished and then clean right after I see Star Wars with Brian in the morning!

Freshly Made Sketches is back for the new year with a new sketch for this week’s challenge…

Freshly Made Sketches 218

A very different sketch indeed! My card starts off with a base of Ivory 110lb Card Stock. I covered the front with a piece of Blushing Bride and my background is a piece of paper from the Pebbles Yours Truly 6×6 Paper Pad. Across the bottom is a piece of Ivory 110lb that I used the Simon Says Stamp On the Edge Love You Die on and adhered it to the card with Fun Foam and SNAIL. Across the top is some more Ivory 110lb, I used the Corner Chomper to round the corners, punched a hole in them with a 1/8″ Hole Punch, threaded some American Crafts Pink Hemp Twine though and adhered them to the card with Fun Foam and SNAIL. The heart and arrow are cut from more Blushing Bride with the Simon Says Stamp Scribble Heart and Arrow Dies. They are adhered to the card with a combination of Foam Tape and Multi-Matte Medium. I tied the twine in a bow and the card is done! Love that scribble Heart and Arrow and the Love You Edge die too! I hope that you enjoyed my card for this week’s Freshly Made Sketches challenge! Thank you for your visit and have a fantastic Friday! 🙂

Paper Players 276

Sorry about the random post that got sent out last night from 2012! I can’t explain how that happened! I guess like Grace said the blog wanted to take a walk down memory lane! Hopefully that won’t happen again! I had a nice day yesterday with my friend Sue. We chatted and got some more stuff ready for Etsy. For lunch we went to the deli in East Meadow and had sandwiches and then we stopped in Marshall’s. I got a Chelsea Football Gym Sac, some new slippers and some Jelly Belly Jellybeans! When I got home I had dinner with my parent’s and then came to my house and crafted for a bit before working on the blog update again. Hopefully I will finish that today and have the new look ready to go by tomorrow!

My inspiration for my craftiness last night was this week’s Paper Players challenge. I wanted to thank Amy for making me her Headliner for the last challenge! You can see the winner’s post HERE and my original post HERE! Now on to this week…

Paper Players #276

That’s a nice fun and simple challenge! My card base is Neenah Solar White 110lb Card Stock and the background is a piece of paper from the Crate Paper Kiss Kiss 6×6 Paper Pad. I used a bunch of different dies to create my greeting. The Happy is from the Simon Says Stamp Happy Winter and Snow Craft Die and the birthday is from the Papertrey Ink Wonderful Words: Birthday Die. They are both cut out from a piece of American Crafts Black Glitter Paper that is adhered to a piece of Black 110lb with some Stick-It. The 21 is cut out from some Adhesive Cork Sheet that I adhered to a piece of Solar White 80lb and cut out with the Papertrey Ink By the Numbers Dies. My th is cut from some more of the cork using the Papertrey Ink Block Alphabet Dies. The panel is a piece of Watermelon Wonder that is cut out with the Papertrey Ink Spiral Notebook Die, it’s adhered to the card with Fun Foam and SNAIL. I used Multi-Matte Medium to adhere all of the greeting. I like the nice pop of black along with the subtleness of the cork against the bright notebook page and fun background! I hope that you enjoyed my card for this week’s Paper Players Theme challenge from Joanne! Thank you for taking some time to come by and see me! Have an interesting Thursday! 🙂

Mojo Monday 429

Hmm… the first Monday of 2016 means back to work. Not a happy Monday at all! I did have another awesome weekend! Yesterday Kim and I had breakfast with Heather and then we went to Roosevelt Field mall. I helped them both pick out new comforters, if I can’t spend any money I do like to spend other peoples! LOL! I had seen a backpack, the one that I have been looking for and Heather bought it for me! Isn’t she the best! Later on in the afternoon Kim and I went to SmashBurger for lunch, delicious! I took Kim to the station at 4:00 so she could make her way back home. She needs to come out more often, we had a blast! When I got back to my house I crafted for a little while and watched some TV then around 9:30 Louis called and picked me up and we went to the diner. Not a bad way to spend a Sunday at all!

After a little break over the Holiday’s I’m back over on the Mojo Monday blog for this week’s sketch challenge…

Mojo429

My card starts off with a base of Ivory 110lb Card Stock and the front is covered in a piece of Black 110lb. Goldfish Bubbles Birthday

It’s the first weekend of the New Year and I have my friend Kim out with me! I went into Manhattan yesterday with Taylor and her friend Kiera and we spent the day at The Ink Pad. There was no traffic at all yesterday even when we got into the city and there was plenty of parking too! We had a good day and I even got to color an image that I used on today’s card! At 6:00 we headed back to the car and went uptown to pick up Kim. When we got back out to my house we decided that we would all go to TGI Friday’s for some dinner and then last night Kim and I watched the 1989 Tour on my Apple TV. This morning we are heading over to Kim & Brian’s for breakfast! A nice way to start off a Saturday!

My card that I have to share with you today uses that image that I colored while at The Ink Pad. I used it to make a nice simple masculine Birthday card! The card base is Neenah Solar White 110lb Card Stock with the front covered in a piece of Black 110lb. I used a Mini Ink Blending Tool and some Simon Says Stamp Scuba Ink to create my favorite backdrop and adhered it to the card with Fun Foam and Tape Runner. My gold fish is a Leavenworth Jackson Rubber Stamp, I stamped it in Memento Tuxedo Black and the colored it in with Copics before cutting him out with scissors. He is adhered to the card with Foam Tape and a little Wink of Stella Clear Glitter Brush Pen is brushed over his body. My greeting is from the Simon Says Stamp Birthday Messages Photopolymer Stamp Set and is stamped in Versa-Fine Onyx Black. I added a few Pretty Pink Posh Sparkling Clear Sequins for bubbles and the card is finished! I do love that goldfish image and he looks so real colored in with Copics! A nice simple masculine birthday card! I hope that you enjoyed today’s card and I thank you for visiting! Have a spectacular Saturday! 🙂

Eskimo Glasses Birthday

Happy New Year peeps! I hope that you rang in the New Year with friends or family and that you had a great time doing so! I had a good day yesterday, crafted, FaceTimed with Andrea, ran some errands with Brian and then went over to Brian & Kim’s for the evening! We had fun just hanging out with the kids and the dog watching TV and laughing! I posted this quote on Instagram and Facebook yesterday and I think that it’s a great way to start off the new year…

Brad Paisley Quote

We should all remember that! We have a new chapter to write in our lives and we should make the best one yet! I’m going to begin my year with a day at The Ink Pad!

I thought I would start the year off with a fun bright birthday card! I’m really loving the stickers and paper in the January Simon Says Stamp Card Kit! The card base is Neenah Solar White 110lb Card Stock. I adhered a piece of the Doodlebug Polar Pals 6×6 Paper to the card slightly askew for my background. A piece of Solar White 80lb is stamped with the Hero Arts Notebook Page Background Stamp in Simon Says Stamp Hydrangea Ink and the the left edge is cut with the Simon Says Stamp Notebook Edge Craft Dies. My greeting is from the Simon Says Stamp Big Birthday Wishes Photopolymer Stamp Set and is stamped in Audrey Blue and Versa-Fine Onyx Black Ink. The panel is then adhered to the card with Fun Foam and SNAIL. I die cut a piece of the Recollections Purple Glitter Paper with the My Favorite Things Die-namics Geek is Chic Glasses Dies and adhered it to the Doodlebug Polar Pals Cardstock Sticker with Multi-Matte Medium. She is then adhered to the card with Foam Tape. A few Pretty Pink Posh Amethyst, Orchid, Marshmallow, Cobalt and Aquamarine Sequins scattered around the girl complete the card! I love the little eskimo and doesn’t she look cuter with the glasses?! I hope that you enjoyed today’s cute little birthday card! Thank you so much for starting your year off with me! I wish you a fantastic Friday and a wonderful New Year flied with all things great! 🙂
