The Open Sea Neutrals

I have to say that without a doubt my favorite Stampin’ Up! Set is The Open Sea from the Summer Mini Catalog. It actual was carried over and can still be ordered. I have used it with blue and red so I thought that maybe some browns would work too. I also tried a new kind of card. It’s called a Z-Fold card and I got the idea from Mary Fish of Stampin’ Pretty. If you haven’t checked out her blog you should (www.stampinpretty.com). She has a bunch of tutorials and also gives a tour of her “Ultimate Stampin’ Zone” which I would like to visit in person! I used The Open Sea Clear Mount set and Travel Log Clear Mount Set (which is retired) both from the Summer Mini. The patterned paper is some that I had lying around from my pre Stampin’ Up! days but really like it. I hope that you like the card and appreciate all of the ways you can use the same stamp set in so many different way just by changing the color or layout. Thank for looking and have a great day!!

Happy Birthday Sandy!

Today is my super talented, all around awesome fellow Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator and good friend Sandy’s birthday! She is a super nice person and a great teacher. I had to make an extra special birthday card for her. I like the tri-shutter cards because they are different and look cool when you open them and stand them up. I tried to match it a little to the dresser I made for her as an early present. I used the Stampin’ Up! Pretty Postage Clear Mount Set and the Postage Punch as well as the Retired Birthday Bliss Wood Mount Set punched out with the Large Tag Punch for the greetings. They were stamped in Marina Mist and Early Espresso Classic Stampin’ Ink. I love the color combination. You can visit Sandy’s blog here:

Frostwood Thanks Hybrid

I have been playing around with Stampin’ Up!s My Digital Studio a lot over the past few day. I like the instant delivery! I’m a big fan of instant gratification! I made this card using a Designer Series Paper from the Frostwood Lodge DSP Digital Download. I like the wood pattern, it definitely gives the card a lodge feel. I also used the Define Your Life Stamp Brush Set. I would rather have the stamps but they were retired a while ago. The butterflies and thanks are from the Kindness Matters Clear Mount Set. The card definitely had a masculine theme to it which seems to be a trend with me lately! Thanks for stopping by and have a wonderful day!

Plaid Christmas

I have been playing withStampin’ Up!’s My Digital Studio for a few days now and I am really liking it. I like the idea of having Designer Series Paper ready to print at a moments notice. The colors are very close to the original, not perfect but close. I wanted to do another non-traditional Christmas card using some Marina Mist. I always love to use my Owl Builder Punch so I threw him in there too. I love the colors and can’t wait to play around a little more. Thanks for stopping by and have a great day!

Elegant Olive Birthday

I wanted to make a simple masculine birthday card tonight and this is what I came up with. I downloaded My Digital Studio Express today and was playing around with the stuff that it comes with. The background on the card is from the Designer Series Paper that is included. I printed it out on Whisper White Card Stock. I think it came out pretty true to color. I used the Delightful Dozen Clear Mount Set for the Greeting, stamped it in Elegant Eggplant and again in Old Olive and cut out one of the phrases and mounted it on Dimensionals. The candy phrase is from the Spooky Bing Bits Clear Mount Set, punched out with the Postage Stamp Punch. The cupcake is from the Cupcake Builder Punch. I like the way it came out seeing as I had no idea where I was going with it when I started! Thanks for stopping by and taking a look!

Izzy’s First Birthday!

One of my closest friends, Kim, asked me if I would make the invitations for her daughter’s first birthday party. I of course was more than happy to do it. She came to a Workshop that I had with my friend Melissa and ordered the items that she wanted me to use. Being that Izzy’s birthday falls near October 31st she decided to go with a Halloween theme. She said that it will probably get tired after a few years but I think it would be so cool that if every year for your birthday everyone got dressed up, don’t you?! So here is the card I came up with. I think it’s very Halloween without being super creepy. I love the spider, he has spiked hair! He is on a window that when you lift it up it say “eeek!” underneath. The card ingredients are below. Thanks for looking and have a spooky fun day!

PPA 115

This weeks Pals Paper Arts Challenge used an lovely picture of a front door all dressed up of fall. I love the fall with all of it’s bright and earthy colors. As soon as I saw the picture I knew exactly what I would do. Some nice leaves! The parchment background on the card was scored vertically with Stampin’ Up!’s new Simply Scored scoring board. I have to say that I love to use it and it really is the best one I have used. I have a Martha Stewart Score Board and I never touch it anymore. You can’t really see it in the picture very well but it gives the paper a nice subtle pinstriped look. I also used the EK Tools Triple Layer Maple Leaf punch. I only used two of the layers to keep it a little more simple. The sentiment is from the retired Afterthoughts Clear Mount Set. Thanks for taking a look!

A “Blue” Christmas

So, I am not a huge fan of all red and green for Christmas as I think I have mentioned before. I like lots whites and blues with some traditional colors thrown in. Dark blue has to be my all time favorite color next to brown. It is a very bold and vibrant color and was the inspiration for this card.

As I was browsing through the Holiday Mini Catalog a few weeks ago I came across the Peekaboo Frames Bigz L Die. What an different and versatile die it is. You can make all different size window frames in 5 different shapes. They are great for stamping and image on the front and a little message inside. I used the Stampin’ Up! Merry Winter Clear set for the cute little snowman on the front of the top note window and the phrase on the inside inked in Night of Navy Classic Stampin’ Ink. I also brushed the window agains the stamp pad to give it a little separation from the Snow Burst Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. I like the little swirls too, they make it look a like a little wind swept snow is blowing around. The Merry Christmas is from the Delightful Dozen Clear Mount Stamp set. I love the card and hope you do too!

Pals Paper Arts 114

This weeks Pals Paper Arts is a color challenge. The colors are Rich Razzleberry, Lucky Limeade and Pumpkin Pie. I was thinking that the colors remind me of a funky Halloween card so that whats what I did. I used the Stampin’ Up! Spooky Bingo Bits Clear Mount Set for the images and the Happy Halloween came from the Delightful Dozen Clear Mount Set. I really like the color combination together. I hope you do too. Thanks for looking!

Mojo 209

For this weeks Mojo Monday Sketch challenge I wanted to do a non-traditional Christmas Card. I love the browns & blues together, for some reason they remind me of the holiday season. I used some Early Espresso Card Stock for the card. The Snow Burst Textured Impressions Embossing Folder has such a nice depth to it and looks great on Very Vanilla Card Stock. I love shade of the Marina Mist Card Stock and I used the Scallop Trim Border Punch on the one edge. The snow man is from the Merry Winter Clear Mount set and the Merry Christmas is from the incredibly versatile Teeny Tiny Wishes Wood Mount set. The card has a nice frosty feel to it, I’m very happy with the way it came out. Thanks for taking a look!
