Paper Players #140 :-)

Wow! Sunday already, Saturday just flew by. I did have a very nice time at the auto show in Manhattan yesterday. The highlight was seeing the RollsRoyce Wraith, isn’t that a cool name for a car?! It was gorgeous! The traffic in the city yesterday was insane, but it was a Saturday and it was a pretty nice day. What were all of you up to yesterday?

Sunday means it’s time for this week’s Paper Players challenge! This week the fabulous Nance has a theme challenge for you…

Paper Players #140 Recycle It 4-7-2013

What a fun idea to go green with some recycling on a card! I thought about it for a while and I finally settled on some jeans. The base of my card is Midnight Muse Card Stock. For the background I embossed a piece of Crumb Cake with the Woodgrain Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. I always use it no tabs when I emboss with the Woodgrain Folder so it doesn’t tear the card stock. The tag is made from a piece of Summer Starfruit, the Simply Scored Diagonal Plate supplies the corners for the tag and a standard hole punch makes the hole at the top. I used a piece of Midnight Muse 3/8″ Stitched Satin Ribbon to thread through the top of the tag. The greeting is from the Make a Wish Stamp Set and is stamped in Midnight Muse. For the flower I used the Blossom Party Bigz Die and some old jeans from the Gap. I really like the way that the inside has the contrasting “crumb cake” look. A retired Brad from last year’s Sale-A-Bration holds it together and some Multipurpose Glue holds it to the tag. Some butterflies are stamped with the Papillon Potpourri Stamp Set in Midnight Muse on Very Vanilla and punched out with the Bitty Butterfly Punch. I used Stampin’ Dimensionals to hold them in place. I really like using natural materials on cards and the jeans are pretty neat for the flower! I hope that you enjoyed my Paper Players Guest Designer Card for this week’s challenge. Be sure to stop by the Paper Players blog to see what my fellow designers have in store for you and I can’t wait to see what you come up with! Thank you for checking in with me today, enjoy the rest of your weekend!

Woo hoo! The color renovation has been announced! I’m so happy that they have kept four of the five 2011-2013 In-Colors! I’m a little sad to see that Lucky Limeade didn’t make the cut but we also got some former In-Colors back too! Bermuda Bay, Soft Sky, Crushed Curry, Pear Pizzaz and Blushing Bride along with a new color Smokey Shadow. They have also moved some colors to different families and of course they are retiring some colors. Say so long to Regal Rose, Pretty in Pink, Bashful Blue, Certainly Celery, Baja Breeze, Riding Hood Red, Bravo Burgundy, Not Quite Navy, More Mustard and River Rock. Change is a good thing!

  1. Great recycling! A question for you, Justin you have mentioned before about not using tabs when embossing the woodgrain folder. Is this in a Bigshot? I hope to buy one so I am not sure what you mean.

    1. Thank you Lynne! Yes, no tabs in a Big Shot. If you use it like you would with a regular EF it cuts the paper sometimes. 🙂

  2. Fabulous re-purposing of those jeans, Justin! Love how you did two different shades on the flower and the butterfly brad ties everything together perfectly. Fantastic card for this challenge…thanks for rockin’ it!

  3. What great ideas you come up with Justin. Love the flower. My weekend was very quiet. It was showering most of the time so good excuse to stay home.

    1. Thank you Jean! I love doing different things. It was so windy here. Rain is definitely a good excuse to stay in! 😉

  4. Love the denim accents here, Justin! I told AM I tried to cut some denim before, but my die wasn’t thick enough….I guess using the Bigz dies are the trick! Awesome….just such a cool embellishment!

  5. Cool card, Justin! I just love the fun texture from the denim. I’ve only had lock with the Bigz dies as well…and the scallop from the Adorning Accents die. For some reason that particular border works well on denim. Haha! It’s all trial and error, isn’t it? Have a super day! 🙂

    1. Thanks Anne Marie! I really like the denim too! I haven’t tried anything but a Bigz Die, I’ll have to give the Adorning Accents a try! Have a super weekend! 🙂
