Beautiful Musical Doily Silhouette

Yesterday was a nice day here, it was in the high 50’s and just windy but the sun was out all day. I made some projects in the morning and then went out with Heather for a good part of the day. We ran some errands and even braved IKEA which is a zoo on the weekends. I got some new under-cabinet lighting for the kitchen and a few other odds and ends. I came home and worked on some more projects and finished the evening with a visit from Andrew, always a nice way to end the day. It’s supposed to be nice again today here, maybe even top down nice! How is your weekend going? What have you been up to?

Today I have a card that made a little while ago. It’s one that I was just sitting there playing around with different things and it just came together. I really have been loving the heat embossing lately and I enjoy mixing all different elements together to see if they work. My card starts off with a base of Midnight Muse Card Stock. The background is a piece of Pool Party and all but one of my stamps is stamped on it. Across the bottom is the Music Notes Stampin’ Around Builder Wheel stamped in Baked Brown Sugar. Up in the left corner is the Hello, Doily Stamp also stamped in Baked Brown Sugar. The leaves are from the Summer Silhouettes Stamp Set and are heat embossed in White Stampin’ Emboss Powder. I like the way that some of it is around the edge of doily too. The sweet and hugs are from the Countless Saying 1 & 2 Photopolymer Stamp Sets and are stamped in Midnight Muse. For the greeting I used the A Round Array Stamp Set and stamped it in Midnight Muse on a piece of Blushing Bride and punched it out with the 7/8″ Scallop Circle Punch. It’s backed with a piece of Midnight Muse that I cut out with the Bitty Banners Framelits and they are adhered to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. Finally, I used the Beautiful Wings Embosslit to cut out my butterflies from some Gold Foil Sheet and adhered them with little pieces of Sticky Strip. I love the colors, especially when I can make a card without using any White or Vanilla and the mix of stamps is eclectic but I think it all goes together nicely. You’ll have to let me know what you think! I really hope that you enjoyed my “just for fun” card today! I thank you for taking some time to visit me and hope that you have an excellent day! 🙂

  1. Hi Justin:
Whenever I read the description of your card for the day and I get a picture in my mind, it never matches the card that magically appears under your description. LOL There were so many elements to this card that I could not put an idea into my head as to what it looked like and then, whoa la, just like magic the photo of the card appears! I am definitely a CAS stamper and this card is pretty involved but guess what? I love it! My favorite portion, of course, are the gold butterflies. You just know I love that foil paper! Super Duper card from a Super Duper guy on a Super Duper day………….I mean really, what more could anyone ask.

    1. Hello Grace!
LOL! I wish I could see what you picture from the description! Yeah! It is involved but not too crowded, I think anyway! The gold butterflies are fun! Thank you so much my super duper friend! 🙂

  2. Happy Sunday! Once again, a great card using my favorite butterflies and music and gold foil. I got out my old star stamp set called “Seeing Stars”. I has no copyright date on it so I would have to go back to my old catalogs to find it. The set has 8 stars of varying designs and sizes matching the old star punches, which I also still have. I especially like what you did with the leaves running diagonally across your card in white. The doily looks elegant too. The music makes the card look like a symphony. All the elements you used are well balanced. Great job, Justin! Enjoy your Sunday for you know what follows. Enjoy tomorrow too just to spite it! Nancy B

    1. Happy Sunday Nancy! Thank you! I do really like that Music Notes stamp! I will have to look for that set on ebay and the small punch! I have had a very nice Sunday and I will make the best of what lies ahead, I have to! LOL! 🙂

  3. I have everything (truly) you have used on your card and love them all BUT…what a rush to do them in gold ! Thank you for the inspiration ! Enjoy your day …everything is in bloom here in N.C. and it actually was in the high 70`s this week ….yes, and people are driving with their tops down all giddy and such even if they are covered in POLLEN !

    1. Thank you Sonny! I think a little gold makes everything better! I hope that you are having a nice day, I have had a lovely day. It was in the upper 50’s here today but no flowers yet. I will take the pollen over the snow any day! 🙂

  4. Hi Justin! What a pretty card! I stared at it for a bit, taking it all in! Love the music notes and all the embossing you’ve done. So nice! And I love the smattering of butterflies! We have a nice day here…sunny and in the 50’s! Yay! A nice week is on tap for us as well. Hope you are enjoying your day and that you got out for a bit with the top down!

    1. Hello Karen!
Thank you! I have been saving it for a day when I didn’t have anything specific to post. My day was similar to yours! I hope that we get a good week and an even better weekend! I did get out a lot but we took my friends car, it was still a bit chilly for the top down today. Soon it will be down all the time! 🙂

  5. Hi Justin,
Great card!! Love when you mix it all up… the butterflies are so pretty cut from gold foil. Thanks for sharing!

  6. I do like this card Justin. The colours are great and the gold butterflies really look good. Actually all the elements you’ve used on this card have come together wonderfully.

    1. Thank you Leigh! I’m so happy that all of the elements worked! Funny thing, my daughter’s mom’s name is Leigh spelled the same way as you! 🙂

  7. Great design, Justin! It really speaks to me. Butterflies in flight can be lyrical, happy and light as they flit about . . . just like music that can make one’s spirit soar. Thanks for shaing!!!
