Paper Players 190

Not a bad Sunday if I do say so myself! I did some crafty stuff in the morning and some laundry. Met Heather for lunch and some errands. They make an excellent tuna wrap at the deli on Central Avenue in Bethpage so we went there and sat outside! Yes, I said sat outside! It was definitely a plus!! After some errands we went back to Heather’s and we listened to some music while she made sauce from scratch. I’m a little obsessed with Zedd at the moment. He’s a DJ but he also does acoustic versions of his songs with live instruments. You can learn more about him HERE. What kind of fun stuff were you up to today?!

It’s Monday and you know what that means, it’s time for this week’s Paper Players challenge! This week LeAnne has given us a “Three-Spree” challenge…

Paper Players #190

I had a little more fun with my E-Cutter on today’s card. The base of my card is Bermuda Bay Card Stock. On top of that is the background piece, some Pool Party, which I popped up with Stampin’ Dimensionals because I cut the “HELLO” out with my E-Cutter and placed some Gold Foil Sheet behind the open letters. The cool thing is that hone I cut out the letters, it also cut out the perfectly sized piece of Card Stock that I needed to use as a background. The feathers are also cut out with the E-Cutter from the Feathered Woodcuts Digital Download from Bermuda Bay. I stamped them in Versa-Mark with one of the stamps from the Gorgeous Grunge Stamp Set and heat embossed them with Gold Stampin’ Emboss Powder. A piece of Linen Thread is wrapped around the card and threaded through a Naturals Designer Button and tied in a bow. I finished off the card with some gold and “Bermuda Bay” sequins placed around the card. Following the challenge, I have three feathers and three of each of the sequins; since there are two types of sequins, I have three sets of three objects placed on the card. Challenge accomplished! LOL! For those of you that haven’t tried the E-Cutter, I hope my card has inspired you to experiment. The possibilities are endless and it’s a fun addition to your card-making arsenal. I hope you’ve enjoyed my card for this week’s Paper Player’s challenge! Thanks as always for stopping by, and I hope your week gets off to a great start! ๐Ÿ™‚

  1. Very nice card. I like the colors and the natural button with the cut feathers and the thread. ๐Ÿ™‚

  2. Yeah for feathers! You certainly showed three of everything; colors, feathers and even three sequins in each color! And you changed your feather colors on your blog heading. Let us all enjoy the warmth of the sun!

    1. I agree Beth! Love the Feathered Woodcuts! I figured it threes, go big or go home! LOL! Yes, I thought that the yellow feathers might warm us up a bit! ๐Ÿ™‚

  3. Hi Justin! Hope your Monday is off to a great start! I see you changed your blog colors…loving the shades of yellow! Such a fun card…sequins where have you been??? You did a great job with the mix of the natural and the bling-y, a great balance between the two elements. Have a fantastic Monday!

    1. Hello Karen!
The day always starts good, I’m usually alone at work until 10:00! I did change the feathers! I meant to do it last week! The sequins are back!! Thank you! Glad you enjoyed the card! You have a great Monday too! ๐Ÿ™‚

  4. Hi Justin – it sounds like your week is off to a great start. Terrific card. I really like the way the “hello” looks like it’s just floating on the card. Of course, the gold sequins and embossing powder are fabulous. Today I’ll watch the race which was postponed because of rain in Texas. Kind of put a damper (yes, pun intended) on our Sunday afternoon! LOL Have yourself a marvelous Monday!

    1. Hello Grace!
The weekend is the only thing that makes Monday bearable! I really am having fun with my E-Cutter! I love the Feathered Woodcuts, they look so cool! I hope that you enjoyed your race and your day! ๐Ÿ™‚

  5. Here’s hoping that your new yellow feathers will bring the sunshine (after the rain to finish the melting!). Now here I can read you did indeed use your Silhouette to cut the feathers. As mentioned installed the MDS software this weekend and the update…. but have not figured out, yet, to cut from MDS. Probably have to save the file as an .svg and bring it over? Maybe by next weekend. Have yourself a great Monday and super week.

    1. That’s what I am hoping for too Louise! You need to use the Designer Edition of the software from Silhouette to cut the MDS files. You don’t really even need to open MDS if the file is already an SVG. Hope that helps! I hope you enjoyed your day! ๐Ÿ™‚

      1. Thanks Justin. I do have the Designer Edition, updated to Version 3 too. I will try opening one of the files I downloaded from MDS to try cutting one. Thanks again for the tip.

  6. I love that cutout hello….what a cool dimension it adds to your card! I love the organic look of the feathers combined with the trendy sequins! Beautiful! Thanks for sharing this with us at my PP “three spree” challenge this week!

  7. Your feather creation is amazing, and I love the new yellow feathers on your blog header, Justin! Great colors, and the balance of sparkly and earthy is just perfect. (((hugs))) Thanks for playin’!

  8. Another fabulous creation, Justin!! Love the use of negative space for the sentiment and the feathers are to die for! Love it all and so glad you joined us again this week!
