Black Soiree Feather Hello

TGIS! LOL! My Friday was quite busy! I had to print out some posters at work in the morning and then do my monthly 56 mile field trip to deliver them to our other locations. I also had to stop at one of our new affiliates and take pictures of their sign, It needs to be replaced. On my way back to the office I had a little car trouble. I called my dad and he came and had it fixed in about five minutes! The man is just incredible! What did he use? A pocket knife and screwdriver. He is like MacGuyver! I stopped back at the office to take care of some last minute things and then went and got a much needed haircut. I came back home and had some dinner and Andrew stopped by for a bit. Always a welcome addition to any day! After he left I went over and saw my friend Maureen, we ran some errands and then I came home and puttered on the computer for a bit. I love when a busy day ends so nicely and today is going to be a lot of fun! I have the Unite and Excite event in Hauppauge and they were kind enough to send Donna Griffith!! Love Donna and I can’t wait to see her in my neck of the woods! It will be great to get to meet some of the other Demos from the area too! I’m looking forward to it! I’l let you all know what goes on tomorrow! 🙂

The card that I have for you today is one that was just for fun. I love those Feather Framelits as you well know and some black, white and gold is always fun. Here is what that combination resulted in! The card base is Whisper White Card Stock cut to 3 3/4″ wide for tall skinny card! I took a piece of Basic Black and used the Circles Collection Framelits to cut off just the bottom and mounted the panel to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. The feathers are made with some Gold Soiree Specialty Designer Series Paper and Gold Foil Sheet cut out with the Feathers Framelits. I adhered them to each other and to the panel with Stampin’ Dimensionals. For my greeting I used one of the stamps from the Endless Birthday Wishes Photopolymer Stamp Set. I heat embossed it in Black Stampin’ Emboss Powder on Bushed Gold Metallic Card Stock and tucked it under the feathers on the right. To finish off the card I used some Gold Baker’s Twine and a few matte black and gold sequins. Black and Gold are just such elegant colors and the White just makes them pop! I hope that you enjoyed my just for fun card for today’s post. Thanks for stopping by and sharing my day with me! You guys are the BEST! Have a super Saturday everyone! 🙂

  1. Justin, As soon as I saw the title of your post, I knew I would love your card. LOVE IT!!! WOW!!!

  2. Hi Justin:

Love the way you used the circle punch to cut off the bottom of the basic black piece. Goes to show what a small detail will add to a design. Those are the types of things that differentiate an artist from those of us who love card making but lack that little bit of artsy in our blood. Fabulous card and it sounds like you have a fantastic weekend planned.

My hubs is like your Dad. He can fix just about anything with the little screw driver, pocket knife and tiny pliers that he carries in his jeans all the time. He just amazes me. Today is my purged stamping supplies sale. Wish me luck. 🙂

    1. Hi Grace!

Thank you very much! I do like to try out new things and I have been having fun with the Circles Framelits. The weekend has been good so far, I hope your stamp purge was very successful! 🙂

We need more people like my dad and your husband in this world. They’re kind of handy to have around! LOL!

  3. Hi Justin
Another WOW card! This is simply stunning! I love love love the black embossing on the gold! So elegant and tasteful! Just prefect! I am anxiously waiting for my package to arrive, it had the feathers bundle in it!!! I just love this set, it is so very versatile, from funky to elegant. Great job Justin!
Wow, you had a busy day! Just reading what you do in one day amazes me. When you go to sleep at night, do you just collapse!? It exhausts me just reading it!
Sorry I have been mia again. I had another procedure done on my bank. To say it is painful, does not even cover it! I had a nerve burned out, hopefully, it was the one that had been causing me much pain for the past several months. Right now, I can’t fully put my weight on my left leg. It is somewhat numb. It feels quite strange. It will be like this for 2 to 3 WEEKS! And then, IF, the procedure worked, (yes, IF!!) Then I should be pain free for 9 to 12 months. So we will see.
Not doing to much this weekend, just resting and taking care of myself.
Hope your Saturday is a great one!
    Donna

    1. Hi Donna!
Thanks very much! I really am having a lot of fun with the heat embossing lately, aren’t I? I’m so happy to hear that you finally got the Feathers Bundle!
My days are busy, yes that’s true. I do think it helps with my ability to fall asleep right away and sleep quite soundly, therefore only needing a few hours every night.
I really am sorry to hear that you’re not better yet. I’ll keep my fingers crossed that everything went well with the procedure!
      Now rest up!
Hope you had a great Saturday, too! Feel good! 🙂

  4. Really pretty card, Justin! Beautiful feathers, beautiful colors! Have fun at your Unite and Excite gathering! You’re very lucky to have Donna in person at your event! Mine is next weekend….yikes, I better get busy, I have swaps to make!!! Have a great weekend!

    1. Thank you very much Melanie! Black and gold is always a classic combination. I love Donna and we had a great day! I hope your event is as much fun as mine was. Have fun making your swaps and enjoy the rest of your weekend! 🙂

  5. Hi Justin! Love your card! The black and gold is just striking together. And the little dash of bling with the sequins and the baker’s twine is perfect! Sounds like a super fun day today, can’t wait to hear all about it!

    1. Hey Karen! Thank you! Yes, I love black and gold together. And sequins make everything more fun. LOL! It really was a great day, there will be a picture tomorrow! 🙂

  6. Happy Saturday Justin. Really great card with just the right amount of bling and handsome elegance.
Wow- you do have the fullest days- I don’t know how you do it- you do sleep right?
Sounds like a fun day today.
Got a big laugh over the father/MacGiver story- read it out loud at the breakfast table- we all laughed,
    Thanks for the smiles.

    1. Happy very early Sunday morning to you, Marty! LOL! I’m glad you enjoyed the card.
Yes my days are full, but that’s the way I like them. And every once in a while, I do get to sleep.
Today was great, we had a lot of fun with Donna.
I’m glad you got a giggle out of my MacGuyver story! 🙂

  7. Another simple yet oh so elegant card! What a great dad you have. I am sure you cherish him. I certainly don’t understand what you do for a living, but it certainly keeps you busy. I am sure you will have a good time today. We will be waiting to hear all about it. Nancy B

    1. Thanks very much Nancy! My dad is quite awesome. Let’s just say that I do much more at work than I’m supposed to. LOL! Today was great, I’ll fill you in tomorrow. 🙂

  8. Love your card, great for guys! I need to get those feathers! Dad’s can fix anything! From skinned knees to broken hearts, to cars that won’t run properly! Enjoy every minute you can with them, they truly are God’s gift to us! Mine has gone to be with our Heavenly Father almost 24 years ago, and I still miss him! I also can still fix a sink, change my oil, check brake fluid, tend a coal furnace and dig a garden, and care for it, because of him!

    1. Thanks very much Jodie! The feathers are my favorite, as you know. Yes, Dads can fix anything and I do enjoy as much time with my Dad as I can. Isn’t it great that they get to teach us all that they know as well? If I ever run into trouble, I’ll be sure to call you! LOL! 🙂
