Paper Craft Crew 118

The week is moving along, it’s Wednesday already! It was another nice day here yesterday, warm and sunny. Work was uneventful which is just how I like it. Little Daniel went and got his first haircut yesterday, as if he wasn’t cute enough! He’ll be a year old on Friday. His mom said that he looks like a little boy now, especially when he’s running all over the place! Here he is with his spiffy new do…

Daniel Haircut

Looks a little like my haircut! After dinner Andrew stopped by for a bit and we caught up, it’s been a little while since I have seen him, we have both been really busy. We vowed to make sure that we put the busy aside so that it isn’t another two weeks before we see each other again. Not too bad for a Tuesday at all!

If it’s Wednesday then that means I’m over on the Paper Craft Crew blog for this week’s sketch challenge…

PCCCS118 Sketch 11-12-2014

I felt the need to watercolor again last night and today’s card is an odd size, it’s 4 3/4 x 4 3/4, definitely not a size that I have made before but I have my Envelope Punch Board to make my envelope so it’s all good. The base for the card is a piece of “Vintage” Cherry Cobbler Core’dinations Card Stock and the background is a piece of Sahara Sand. My panel in the middle is a piece of paper from the Trim the Tree Designer Series Paper Stack and is backed with some Early Espresso with a piece of Linen Thread tied in a bow. All of my images are from the An Open Heart Stamp Set. The branch is stamped in Mossy Meadow and the bird and greeting in Early Espresso, both on Watercolor Paper. I used a paintbrush with water to pull ink from the stamped images and color them in. Some Cherry Cobbler on the bird and branch and some Crushed Curry for the beak enhance the detail a bit. It’s mounted to a piece of Mossy Meadow and adhered to the main panel with SNAIL. Two more pieces of the DSP are punched out with the Banner Punch and tucked under the main panel. The greeting is stamped in the lower left and completes the card. I really do love the watercoloring using the ink from the stamped images, it’s a nice easy way to get a pretty cool look! And there you have my card for this week’s Paper Craft Crew sketch challenge. Stop by the blog to see what the other designers have dome with the sketch and enter your project in the gallery so we can see your take. I hope that you enjoyed my card and I thank you of taking a little time to stop by and see me today! Enjoy your Wednesday! 🙂

  1. Justin,
Great card!! Love the combination of papers and of course the bird. Thanks for sharing.

  2. Love the card and your painting of the bird and branch! The Early Espresso DSP makes it look like the bird is coming out from hiding in the woods! Enjoy the rest of this week and I hope you post pics of little Daniel’s first birthday!

    1. Thanks so much Beth! I really love that watercolor technique, so fun and easy! Yes! That DSP is just so cool! I will have pics of Daniel’s birthday and you enjoy your week too! 🙂

  3. With that haircut, Daniel looks like you! And I love the card. The warm colors and the adorable bird are a great combination!

    1. LOL! Yes, I thought that too Melanie! Thank you!! I had fun making the card, love watercoloring and doing it on the stamped image makes it like point by numbers! 🙂

  4. I am a big fan of watercolor in any form. This card is beautiful and the colors work terrifically together. This could be a great holiday card as well.
Enjoy the mild weather, looks like some polar vortex is heading your way.
That little Daniel gets cuter and cuter!

    1. Yes Marty, me too!! I am loving the watercoloring! Thank you so much! I think the weather arrived, it’s quite chilly here this morning. 🙂

  5. A little Justin running around! How cute! I love the wren in that stamp set, and of course, you did it justice. I am so glad to see you use “vintage” supplies like the core’dination paper. I have it in every color and have not used it in a while. Motivation! Puppy Pi is almost 9 months old and settling down a little. Hi to Andrew. We have missed him too. Have a great Wednesday! Nancy B

    1. LOL! Ha! He does look a little like me in that picture Nancy! I love birds and that wren is a great one. I have to start using more “Vintage” stuff, I have way too much of it! I’m happy to hear that the puppy is doing well! Yes, Andrew was missed! I had a good day and hope that you did too! 🙂

  6. Hip, hip, hooray Justin! Got the post in my email today the way it should be! I’m doing the HAPPY DANCE!

Your card is just gorgeous but I have to say that Daniel stole the show from you today. Look at those amazingly beautiful eyes!

So glad to be back on board my friend. I hate it if I have to miss a post. 🙂 Hugs!

    1. Woo Hoo!! Yay!! Yippee! So glad that things are back to normal Grace!
Thanks very much! I do love to watercolor! And yes, Daniel definitely would trump anything that I could make!
I’m so happy that you are back my friend! I have missed you!! XOXO

  7. OMG, He is a DOLL!!!! Love those big eyes!!!! Beautiful card, love the bird.
Enjoy your weather, I just got home and we have fricken Snowflakes in the air!

    1. Thanks Linda! He is just the cutest! Glad you enjoyed the card too! It’s cold here this morning, I would like to not see snow ever again but I know that’s wishful thinking! 🙂

  8. Hi Justin – I enjoy reading your blog – about your adventures & your friends & family – the little guy is so cute! Our granddaughter turned 1 Sept. 24th – they are so cute at that age – I have the privilege of watching her 3 days a week. I also love all the cards you do – great inspiration! You are always “complaining” about the cold & snow – well, you should be here (Northwest Kansas) – we are in the DEEP freeze & have had some snow and there is more to come this weekend – yuck!!! I do not like snow or the extreme cold – it went from 72 one day to 22 the next – it is horrible. There I complained as much as you do. 🙂 🙂
    Thanks! Janet

    1. Hello Janet!
I’m so happy to take you along on my travels and share my adventures with you! The little ones are definitely adorable and I like to see Daniel as much as I can, they grow up so fast! My mum used to watch my daughter when she was little and I’m glad that they got to spend that time together. So happy that you enjoy my work too! Yes, I complain about the cold and snow, I just don’t like it! I don’t think I could ever live where it snows all winter, although it seemed like that’s what it did here last year. Doesn’t it feel good to get it out though! LOL! Thanks so much for stopping by and enjoy your day! 🙂
