Pals Paper Arts 234

Well, that was a nice low key day to start off the New Year! I got up a little late but that’s because I didn’t go to bed until 2:00. I finished setting up the wall unit and then sat and enjoyed some TV. I looked over at the Christmas tree and thought, time for you to come down and that’s just what I did. It’s all packed away and ready for next Christmas. I puttered around the house until 1:30 when I decided it was time to get a move on. I took a ride to IKEA with Taylor to get 2 shelves and some different knobs for the wall unit. It was packed! I put the shelves up as soon as I got home and changed the knobs. Around 5:15 I went over and had dinner with the ‘rents and then came back home and made my card for today. Andrew stopped by a little later, he’s off to Florida early tomorrow morning to see a friend. He’ll be back on Tuesday night and I’ll be picking him up! I squeezed in a movie after he left, Live, Die, Repeat – Edge of Tomorrow. I have to say that I didn’t think that I was going to like it but it was quite good! Today I’m off to the scrapbook store for a bit and then who knows! It’s good to be off from work! LOL! ๐Ÿ™‚

The card that I made last night is for this week’s Pals Paper Arts color challenge…

PPA 234

I do love the purples and blues together the silver is the icing on the cake! My card starts off with a base of Whisper White Card Stock, I adhered a piece of Wisteria Wonder to cover the front for the background. The piece of Watercolor Paper is inked with Wisteria Wonder and Night of Navy using the Tim Holts Mini Ink Blending Tool. At first I thought that I wanted to get rid of the line but the more I looked at it the more I liked it so it stayed. Before I adhered the Watercolor Paper to the background I adhered a piece of 7/8″ Cotton Ribbon with some Glue Dots around the back and then used a combination of SNAIL and Fast Fuse to make sure that it stayed in place. The butterfly is cut out from Brushed Silver Metallic Card Stock with the Butterflies Thinlits*. I tied a piece of Silver Baker’s Twine around one of the Mini Metallic Clothespins and used it to hold the butterfly to the ribbon. The greeting is from the And Many More Stamp Set and is heat embossed with Silver Stampin’ Emboss Powder on Night of Navy. I used the Bitty Banners Framelits to cut it out and slid it under the clothespin. I love the inked background and the cool way that the butterfly is attached to the card! I really hope that you enjoyed my card for this week’s Pals Paper Arts color challenge! Thanks very much for visiting me today! I hope that you all have a fantastic fun filled Friday! ๐Ÿ™‚

  1. Love the card. I guess I’ll HAVE to put the butterfly die on my wishlist now too!!! When is the scrapbook store opening up? I can’t wait to check it out.

    1. Thank you Nancy! I love the Butterfly Thinlits and so will you! The scrapbook store is open but Renee is going to CHA and will be stocking the store when she returns! ๐Ÿ™‚

  2. Hi Justin! Great card! Love the way you used the mini clothespin on the butterfly. These are really soothing colors. Thanks for sharing.

    1. Hello Gerri!
Thanks so much! They were great colors over at the Pals Paper Arts this week! ๐Ÿ™‚

  3. Happy New Year Justin:

I too love your use of the clothespin – it looks like part of the butterfly’s body. Of course you know I love the glitz of the silver. You did a fantastic job with the background and the graduated color on the background is just awesome.

Did you ever make it to Rockefeller Center to see Manhattan’s Christmas tree? Since I was gone for a week I thought I might have missed that. I take my tree down after Three Kings Day which is January 6th. A tradition in our family which both my children follow also.

We are glad to be home even though we had a wonderful time visiting friends and family. Somehow as we get older there is comfort in getting back to our daily “routine”. Big New Year’s hugs from Maine! ๐Ÿ™‚

    1. Happy New Year to you too Grace!
Thank you! I have had them forever and this is the first time I used one! I thought that you might like the silver! I had a lot of fun creating the background, love that look!
I never did get into the city, I was thinking about running in on Sunday morning, I’ll have to see if my friend Kim will be around. I needed the space in the apartment, that’s why my tree came down.
I am really happy that you are back! It is always nice to see friends but there is no place like home! Hugs to you from Long Island! ๐Ÿ™‚

  4. I love those colors together! The butterfly and clothespin are perfect together. Thanks for posting the web site for the stitched dies. I may have to start thinking about them. I am hesitant about bringing more stuff into my stamping room other than the list I have from the SU Occasions catalog since this is the year I have to clean out and reorganize! I already have two willing and able stampin’ friends to help me. I will be using the Snowflake Card Thinlits for January birthday cards for my New York City twin cousins. They may be twins, but I never make them the same cards! What fun! I hope you get your new office soon! Have a great weekend…I’ll be out of touch for a week…Nancy B

    1. Thank you very much Nancy! Me too! I really do love the Stitched dies from Simon and they have so many! If any one needs to clean out the stamp space it’s me! I have no more room! I could get some people to help but I need to do it myself! Plus, it’s difficult to fit more than one person in my room at a a time! LOL! I do love to use the snowflakes for winter birthdays, as long as the snow stays on the card! I hope to get moved on Monday. You shall be missed!! ๐Ÿ™‚

  5. WOW! Gorgeous. Loks like early dawn or dusk with no sun. Love it.

You were very productive, I cant part with my Christmas decorations yet, bjt before my sons gp back to college so tghey can do the work, LOL.

I played with all my scraps from Paper Pumpkin kits. You always have so much extra and I refuse top throw away the odds. So very productive day from cards, to framed art I was pretty pleased.

Then amongst all my kids complaining I did experiment and successfully made strawberries in the food dehydrator, yummy. My sons ate them all so it was a successful trial

    1. Thank you so much Linda! Yes, it does look a bit like the sky!
I needed to get the apartment back to a somewhat normal state. It’s nice to have help taking the stuff down!
I keep the smallest of scraps from everything and end up using a lot of it. I need to start playing with my Paper Pumpkin Kits! Thanks for the reminder!
Oh, strawberries do sound like a good choice for your new food dehydrator! I’ll bet they were delicious! ๐Ÿ™‚

  6. Oh.my.goodness. I LOVE your cards. I came across your blog accidentally – don’t even recall how, but I am so glad I did. I don’t think there is a card you have made that I have seen that I did not like. I do have a question for you. I just love your presentation – awesome – and my question is, if you don’t mind sharing, what do you use for the area you take the pictures in? Your cards, presentation, blog are just plain awesome. Excellent job.

    1. Thanks very much Dixie! I’m so glad that you found me and welcome! I am very happy that you are enjoying my work! I have a three sided “box” that I made from s piece of foam core that I used to take my pictures in. Thank you again and hope to see you soon! ๐Ÿ™‚

    1. Thank you very much Patti! I love the blended backgrounds on the watercolor paper! ๐Ÿ™‚

  7. Hi Justin! Such a pretty, pretty card today! I love your watercolored paper…so pretty! And the the little clothespin for the body on the butterfly looks awesome! Can’t wait to hear about your adventures you for today! We did a bunch of running around, got groceries and hit Target. You know how that goes…you only need 1 or 2 things and come out with 3 bags! Yikes! Hope your day was a good one. Thanks again for getting me the info on the stitched dies, I appreciate it!

    1. Hello Karen!
Thank you very much! I was a very busy boy today! I got a lot accomplished and that always makes me happy! I have been to IKEA way too much lately! Target, yes, always leave with more that you planned on! LOL! I’m glad that you asked for the info on the Stitched dies, love them! ๐Ÿ™‚

  8. Hey Justin, LOVE this card – I’m liking this butterfly more each time you use it! The blended colours in the background are just beautiful, I might have to dig out the brayer (I haven’t used that in a while!). Glad you are enjoying your time off work, how’s that scrapbooking store coming along? I have no real plans for the day, except relaxing, lol! One of these days I will need to start trying to get rid of the couple of kilos (or pounds) Christmas has caused, but not just yet, I still have way too much yummy food in the house – can’t waste it ๐Ÿ˜‰ Cheers Justin xxx

    1. Hello Kelly!
Thank you! I love those Butterfly Thinlits! I never think to use my brayer either! Thanks for the reminder! I am really enjoying my time off from work! The scrapbook store is coming along. My friend that owns it will be going to CHA and then filling the store with new stuff when she gets back! I need to have one of those all day relaxing days! I too need to stop eating for a while! The Holidays do it every year! Hugs! XOXO ๐Ÿ™‚

  9. Your blended background is *absolutely* beautiful, Justin! And I like the little strip of white between the blues and wisteria, too. For me, it’s reminiscent of some light in the sky. Love the butterfly die, too. You do such a wonderful job of picking colors that coordinate and add expression to your themes. Very, very pretty!

    1. Thanks very much El! I was going to blend the white strip away but I really liked it! ๐Ÿ™‚
