Mojo 394

A lovely rainy and foggy day here on Long Island yesterday. It was really windy in the morning but not too cold, it did do the misty rain thing all day though. April showers bring May flowers right?! I did have a good day yesterday. Work was pretty quiet and after I headed over to Scrap-A-Latte to hang with Taylor and lock up. I had a little Skype time with Andrea at the store, spoke with Michael, had a quick dinner when I got home and Skyped with Eva too. Tonight I’m back at Scrap-A-Latte for Angie’s Tags class. I’m looking forward to just going there and enjoying creating! I’ll try to take some pictures of the tags that we make and post them tomorrow. As promised, here are some pictures from Friday’s card class!

Today I have my card for this week’s Mojo Monday sketch challenge courtesy of the lovely Julee Tilman…

Mojo394

Seeing as the retired list comes out today I thought that maybe I should use up some of the Designer Series Paper that I have been hoarding! LOL! The card base, as usual, is Whisper White Card Stock and the front is covered in a piece of Basic Gray. My background is a piece of the Back to Black Designer Series Paper and on the right is a piece of Brushed Silver Metallic. A piece of Whisper White 1/4″ Cotton Ribbon is adhered around the back with Sticky Strip. I covered a piece of Basic Black with some Silver Fancy Foil Designer Vellum and adhered that to the background. A piece of Basic Gray is embossed with the Happy Heart Textured Impressions Embossing Folder and adhered to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. My greeting and feathers are from the A Happy Hooray Stamp Set. The greeting is stamped in Encore Silver Metallic on Basic Black and punched out with the 1 3/4″ Circle Punch. It’s adhered with Stampin’ Dimensionals. The feathers are heat embossed in Silver Stampin’ Emboss Powder on Basic Black and cut out with my Paper Snips. Some SNAIL Holds them in place. A few Simon Says Stamp Sparkle & Shine Sequins complete the card. I love all of the silver and gray tones on the card and the feathers are still one of my faves! I hope that you enjoyed my card for this week’s Mojo Monday sketch challenge! Thank you so much for you visit today! Have a terrific Tuesday! 🙂

  1. Hey Justin – Taylor’s laughing, Andrew’s laughing, Justin’s laughing, everyone is laughing! I love that kind of class! Boy, you have large classes at Renee’s store! How many people can you have in a single class? AND why aren’t we seeing any of Andrew’s creations in such a long time? We all just love seeing your photos and can’t wait to see what you made in class. Thank you so much for sharing, it’s such fun to see what you are up to.

I really like this card – the feathers you fussy cut upon the feathers in the DSP and the tiny hearts near the heart EF paper – fabulous! Sometimes a black/grey/silver combo can be less than attractive, especially when there is just too much black however, your “pop” of black seems to be the perfect amount. Enough to draw your attention to the saying yet not overwhelm the silver/grey on the rest of the card. You did a fantastic job with this one for sure.

Damp and dismal with flood watches here today – and the thing that stinks is it’s supposed to be this way right into next week! Oh well – can’t change Mother Nature. Wishing you a Terrific Tuesday and I hope your weather is going to be better than ours this week. Big hugs to you my friend! 🙂

    1. Hi Grace!
Yes, everyone is smiling and laughing, that’s just how I like my classes to be! Yes, they are big and are about to get bigger! They are moving to two nights!! She likes to keep the classes to 16 but she can fit about 20. I will share Andrew’s cards along with mine soon!
Thank you! I love the way the feathers came out! So shiny! I like the gray/black combo, but you are right, too much back and the card looks dull!
At least it’s not snow my friend! Once the rain stops it will be gone. We had a nice day here and I even got to ride with the top down! Huge hugs to you! XOXO 🙂

  2. First, I like the colors. I also like the feathered DSP and the embossed ones too. I like the hearts with the thanks = heartfelt thanks! Great card!
    🙂

  3. Love the colors on thos, really like how the embossed feathers POP off the page. and I love the hearts, a nice touch. Cold and windy here, but not complaining, winter is over. Off of work and trying to get stuff done before we leave for so. Carolina, take care

    1. Thank you Linda! I had the card without the feathers and it just needed something more! Hope that you got all of your stuff accomplished! 🙂

  4. You really rocked this card Justin! Those are tricky colors to work with, at least for me, lol! 🙂 I love, love the Brushed Silver and the way the silver embossing looks together – with the silver thanks, woohoo, sweet! :D. I’m very sad that they aren’t going to have the Brushed Silver anymore 🙁 What will we do Justin!!! (I’m yelling that)

    1. Thank you so much Jill! I am going to miss the brushed silver! I will have to find another supplier! LOL! I’m yelling it too!! 🙂

  5. Hello Justin! Well, we had snow flurries here today…yikes! Great card today! I love the brushed silver cs, sad to see that go (along with more than half my stash of stamps!). But great, new things will soon be here for us to stock up on! You know this is one of my favorite stamp sets…thank you again! 🙂 Hope your day is going good! Oh, love the pics of everyone having such a good time at your class! Have fun tonight, can’t wait for those pics!

    1. Hey Karen!
Oh no! No more snow!! Thank you! You should see all of the sets that I have that are now Vintage! LOL! Happens every year! I am looking forward to seeing what they have in the new catty! I too love this set and it will still be used! I had a great day and hope that the same is true for you! 🙂

  6. Hey Justin, looks like your classes are lots of fun, everyone has loads of space to spread out! Elbow room is a must when stampin I reckon, I spread my supplies all over the place, lol! I had a nice lunch with the girls from my old workplace yesterday, and heading to the city tomorrow with another friend. Your card is gorgeous, I love this colour combination! Great idea for using the love heart embossing folder, I have that but haven’t used it yet 🙂 Hope you have a great day Justin xoxo

    1. Hello Kelly!
Yes, we do have a good time in class! The ladies and gents do come with all of their gear and it’s nice to have so much room! It’s nice to catch up with people! Glad that you enjoyed your lunch and hope that tomorrow’s is just as good! I’m glad that you enjoyed the card! That’s the first time that I got to use the Heart EF too! It was backordered so I didn’t get to use it for Valentine’s! My day was fantastic, thanks! XOXOXO 🙂

  7. Justin,
How did I miss this post? It was probably because I spent most of yesterday fighting with the SU website! Really poor planning on their part. Their system cannot handle global sales.
Anyway, I LOVE this card!!! The silver embossing is awesome. Just love all the silver, black and gray. That little heart embossed strip is perfect.
    Thanks for sharing!

    1. LOL! I heard that the ordering was no fun at all Gerri, glad I missed it! So happy that you like the card! 🙂
