Layered Butterfly Flutter

Hi there and a good Saturday to you! Yesterday turned out to be a nice day for the most part. We had nice bright sun all day and then around 6:00 it started to rain. I did get some top down time so it’s all good. I went over to Heather and we went to Monty’s for lunch while we were there I saw Danielle’s boyfriend Derek and said hi. After lunch I came home and worked on a few projects and then stopped by my Parent’s to see Daniel for a bit. He was vacuuming with the Dust Buster and wouldn’t give it back! Around 7:00 Anthony and Bill came by and picked me up and we headed to Friday’s to meet up with Marissa for a better late than never birthday dinner for me! It was a great time and by the time I got home I was ready for bed! Today I’m off to Manhattan with my friend Sandy for the Mama Elephant Release Party downtown. That should be lot’s of fun! We are going to head in a little early and walk the High Line for a bit and have some lunch! What are you up to today?!

Today I have a simple card using a stamp set that has been sitting on my desk for a while! The card base is Neenah Solar White 110lb Card Stock with the front covered in a piece of Neenah Desert Storm. My background is a piece of Solar White 80lb. All of the Butterflies are from the Hero Arts Color Layering Butterflies Photopolymer Stamp Set. I stamped them in Simon Says Stamp Rosie Cheeks, Teeny Bikini and Hot Mama Ink, two of the large ones directly on the background and then one large and two small on a separate piece of card stock. The other three are cut out with the matching Hero Arts Color Layering Butterfly Frame Cuts along with the bodies and antennae that are stamped in Simon Says Stamp Black Ink. The background is adhered to the card with Fun Foam and SNAIL. I adhered all of the bodies with some Multi-Matte Medium and then adhered the three cut out butterflies to the card with Foam Tape. My greeting is from the same set and is also stamped in Black. To finish the card, a scattering of Pretty Pink Posh Gold, Ballerina and Orchid Sequins are adhered with more Multi-Matte Medium around the butterflies. The layered colors in the butterflies are so neat and I do love that they have matching dies! I hope that you enjoyed my card for today! Thank you, as always, for coming by! I’ll have some pictures from the Mama Elephant Event tomorrow! Have a super Saturday! 🙂

Pals Paper Arts 270

That was an interesting Friday. I found out at work that they are having cuts and my job has been eliminated. I have to go in on Monday and see if there are any other positions available that I would be interested in. I believe that everything happens for a reason, so I need to think about what I want to do. I would like to get a job that I really enjoy or maybe find some way to work for myself. Any suggestions would be appreciated! To go along with that cheerful news it rained here all day yesterday. But I’m off to Manhattan this morning and then at The Ink Pad tomorrow so it will be a good weekend!

And yes, Michael has yet another post for you! That’s three in a row! He’s definitely on a roll! You can take a look at his latest creation HERE!

Now on to today’s card, it’s for this week’s Pals Paper Arts color challenge…

PPA 270

I went with a birthday card, they are something that I need to add to my ever growing stash! The card base is Neenah Solar White 110lb Card Stock. It’s cut to 4″ wide and I heat embossed the chevrons from the Simon Says Stamp I See You Photopolymer Stamp Set in Gold Stampin’ Emboss Powder down the left side. A piece of Always Artichoke is embossed with the Woodgrain Textured Impressions Embossing Folder and adhered next to the chevrons with SNAIL. My frame is cut from Sahara Sand using the Simon Says Stamp Birthday Frame Die. I heat embossed the heart image from the same set in Hero Arts White Embossing Powder on Blackberry Bliss and adhered it to the frame with 2-Way Glue. The frame is then adhered to the card with Fun Foam and SNAIL. The happy is also from the same set and is heat embossed in White on Always Artichoke and adhered to the heart with Foam Tape. To balance the card a bit I cut out the 2 and u from more Always Artichoke using the Papertrey Ink Block Alphabet and Numbers Dies. They are adhered to the card with more 2-Way Glue. You knew there had to be some Pretty Pink Posh Gold Sequins on there somewhere so I did a scattering of them around the heart. I love that geometric heart and the typed sentiments in the I See You Set, so cool! I hope that you enjoyed my card for this week’s Pals Paper Arts color challenge! Thanks very much for coming by today! I wish you all a fun Saturday! 🙂

SIP Challenge 14 – A Sketch

A very good Tuesday to you! It’s my last day in England and it’s a little rainy today. I have a few last minute bits and pieces to pick up but I think that I can do that locally. Yesterday I had the pleasure of meeting my FaceBook friend Lesley! We went to the Crypt for a Latte and some cake and had a lovely time chatting. So much so we got a pot of tea and finished that too! I love when I get to meet people in person and Lesley is just lovely! After that Brian and I went to Leister Square and picked up some souvenirs and then stopped by my Uncle’s before having some wood fire pizza for dinner. On to the station after that to make our way back home. A very nice day indeed! Here are some photos from yesterday!

If it’s Tuesday then it’s time for another Stamp, Ink, Paper Challenge and this time it’s a sketch from me…

SIP Sketch Challenge 14

I had fun playing with a new stamp set and did some watercoloring too! The card base is Neenah Solar White 110lb Card Stock and the front is covered with a piece of paper from the My Minds Eye Necessities Wood Paper Pad. The panel on the left is a piece of Smoky Slate that I embossed with the We R Memory Keepers Woven 3D Embossing Folder and backed with a piece of Night of Navy and adhered to the card with SNAIL. The main panel is a piece of Night of Navy backed with some Solar White 80lb. My greeting and flowers are from the Clearly Besotted Fairytale Ending Photopolymer Stamp Set. The greeting is heat embossed with Hero Arts White Embossing Powder. I did the same with the flowers but on Canson Watercolor Paper and then cut them out with the matching dies. The flowers are colored in Zig Clean Color Brush Pens and a Water Brush. I adhered the flowers to the panel with some SNAIL and then the panel to the card with Fun Foam and SNAIL. A few Pretty Pink Posh Sparkling Clear Sequins complete the card. I love those flowers, especially watercolored. I hope that enjoyed my Design Team card for this week’s Stamp, Ink, Paper Sketch challenge. Please take a minute to stop by the blog and check out the rest of the Design Team’s cards and enter yours in the gallery! Thanks so much for stopping by and have a wonderful day! 🙂

Just Happy Card & More Paris!

Back in London! The train ride back yesterday was just as nice as the one over there. We had some breakfast at a cafĂ© before heading to the station, Nutella Crepes and a delicious latte. Juliette picked us up from my uncle Bruce’s and we stopped at Watford Harlequin Shopping Center so Brian could pick up some things for the girls. There was a HobbyCraft there too so I had to stop in there. I was good, I didn’t get too much stuff, just things that I can’t get back at home! Today, Tracey and Jules have a little surprise for us so we are off to somewhere in a little bit! LOL!

Here are a few more pictures from Paris before we get to the card!

Now on to my card for today, just a simple card! The card base is Neenah Solar White 110lb Card Stock. I took a piece of Solar White 80lb and drew some diagonal lines across it with a pencil so that I would more easily be able to line up my stamping and die cutting. The stamps and die are from the Hero Arts Happy Stamp & Cut Set. First I die cut the negative happy from the panel. Some Hero Arts Pool and Wet Cement Ink is used to stamp the happy and the dots. So that color behind the negative happy would match I used a Ranger Mini Ink Blending Tool and some Pool Ink to color a piece of Solar White and that is adhered to the base with SNAIL while the panel is adhered with 3M Foam Tape. Like I said, very simple card but also very mailable! I hope that you enjoyed the Paris pictures and my card for today! Thanks so much for stopping by and enjoy your Friday! 🙂

SIP Challenge 11 – Tic-Tac-Toe

Only three more days of work to go! I can do this! LOL! You know when you have so much happening at one time you just want to slow everything down, that’s where I am right now. I’m looking forward to my trip but not looking forward to seeing my friend leave. The emotions of both are pulling in different directions! I would like to put this Summer on repeat for a while, do you know what I mean? But nothing in life is constant except for change, right? Anyway enough about that! Little Daniel was at my parent’s when I got home and we played with his trucks for a bit before dinner. After, I came home and made a few cards and then just pondered life for a bit. You need to do that every once in a while!

It’s Tuesday and that means that we are ready for another Stamp, Ink, Paper Challenge

SIP Any Tic Tac Toe 11

This Tic-Tac-Toe board is a collaboration of Michael and I. Eventually we will get him to participate in the actual challenge! I went across the middle, Twine, Die Cut and Sequins. I have been enjoying the neutrals with the nice pops of color lately so I went that route again! The card base for today is Neenah Solar White 110lb Card Stock. I stamped the Simon Says Stamp Diagonal Stripes Background Stamp in Simon Says Stamp Smoke Ink on some Solar White 80lb and adhered it to the card with SNAIL and Fun Foam. My frame and bubble for the sentiment are from the Mama Elephant Polaroid Fun Creative Cuts. The frame is cut from more Solar White 80lb and adhered to the card with Foam Tape, I tied some Hemptique Black Hemp Twine around the frame before adhering it. For the flower I used my Ranger Mini Ink Blending Tool and some Simon Says Stamp Hot Mama and Lucky Ink to color another piece of Solar White 80lb. The die is from Elizabeth Crafts and is called Lotus Flower. It cuts the backing and the open flower, they are adhered sparingly together with 2-Way Glue and then to the card with Foam Tape. My greeting is from the Stephanie Ackerman Tags & Words Set and is heat embossed in Hero Arts White Embossing Powder on Basic Black and also adhered to the card with Foam Tape. A few Pretty Pink Posh Lime Sorbet and Purple Michaels Sequins add some sparkle and complete the card! I hope that you enjoyed my Design Team card for this week’s Stamp, Ink, Paper Challenge! Now go on over to the SIP Challenge Blog and check out the rest of the Design Team’s cards! We can’t wait to see what you do with this week’s challenge so make sure and enter your card in the gallery! Thank you so much for coming by! Have a terrific Tuesday! 🙂

Blushing Surf Enjoy

Happy Sunday peeps! Michael’s baby book class at Scrap-A-Latte was fun yesterday! After we were finished there we stopped back at my house to pick up a few things and then made our way towards Manhattan. I dropped Michael off in Astoria so he could meet his friend Marcia for dinner. I then headed over the 59th Street Bridge to Kim’s apartment on 63rd and I was lucky enough to get a parking space pretty much right across the street! Score! I took the stuff up to the apartment and then went for a little walk. When I got back I put on the TV for a bit and then went and met Michael at the 59th Street Subway. On the way back to the apartment we stopped for some Pinkberry frozen yogurt. This morning was another lazy one and now we are at The Ink Pad. A pretty good weekend so far!

So, today’s card uses one of my favorite sets, it’s a “Vintage” one but I still love it! My card starts with a base of Neenah Solar White 110lb Card Stock. For the background I heat embossed the “Vintage” Woodgrain Background Stamp in White Hero Arts Embossing Powder on Blushing Bride and adhered it to the card with SNAIL and Fun Foam. The cake and wreath are from that favorite set, the Your Perfect Day Photopolymer Stamp Set. I used a piece of Solar White 80lb and some Simon Says Stamp Surf Blue Ink with the Ranger Mini Ink Blending Tool to give the paper that faded look. The image is then heat embossed in White Hero Arts Embossing Powder and cut out with my Paper Snips. The wreath is also heat embossed but on Vellum and cut out with a die from Dies By Dave. I adhered the wreath with Ranger Multi-Matte Medium and the cake with Foam Tape. I used some more of the inked paper to cut out the Simon Says Stamp Painted Enjoy. It’s cut out three more times from white and then adhered together with more Multi-Purpose Glue and then to the card. A scattering of Pretty Pink Posh Sparkling Clear Sequins completes today’s card. I really do still love the Your Perfect Day Set, especially that wreath! Thank you very much for stopping by to see me today! I hope that you have a super Sunday! 🙂

SIP Challenge 8 – Designer’s Choice!

I’m not even going to go into detail about my Monday. It was a typical Monday though, so you can imagine! LOL! When I got home last night I made a few cards and then headed over to Sandy’s house for Card Class. It’s been a while since we have done one of those and it was great to see everyone again! Michael and Sue joined in the fun too! After that I came home and finished up a few things before calling it a night. How was your Monday?

So, today is Tuesday and that means that it’s time for this week’s Stamp, Ink, Paper Challenge! We are giving you free reign again with another Designer’s Choice…

SIP Any Challenge 8

It so nice to just get to sit down and make a card without any rules isn’t it?! My card base is the usual Neenah Solar White 110lb Card Stock. I heat embossed the flower form the You’ve Got This Stamp Set in Hero Arts White Embossing Powder on a piece of Crumb Cake. The image is colored in with some Prismacolor Colored Pencils, just a few shades of yellow and green. I tied a piece of Papertrey Ink Rustic Jute Button Twine around the panel and then adhered it to the card with Fun Foam and SNAIL. The greeting is from the same set and is heat embossed again in Hero Arts White on a piece of Hello Honey and adhered to the card with Foam Tape. A few Pretty Pink Posh Summer Mix and Sparkling Clear Sequins are adhered around the flower and complete the card. I love the way colored pencils look on Crumb Cake, it really makes the image pop! I hope that you enjoyed my Design Team card for this week’s Stamp, Ink, Paper Designer’s Choice challenge! Freshly Made Sketches 197

Ahh, I do love a Thursday that doesn’t involve work! LOL! Yesterday was another hot one here, I snuck out of work a little early so I could head into Manhattan to meet up with Michael. It only took me a little over an hour to get in which was pretty good. I even found a parking space down the block from The Ink Pad again! I had to share the space because I still can’t believe that I got into it!

Manhattan Parking

Now that is a tight fit! LOL! While I was hanging out at the store with Michael and Barbara we had a visitor! Jenny from Craft Test Dummies stopped in! She is awesome! I watch her YouTube channel because she gives unbiased reviews of products. You can check out her blog HERE and her You Tube channel HERE! She also has a new series called Hands on Crafts for Kids that is really neat!

I love to meet people that I see on the internet and they are more awesome that you thought they would be!

Now lets move on to today’s card. It’s for this week’s Freshly Made Sketches challenge. First I want to thank Jen B. for choosing me as her Perfect Prince for last week’s sketch! You can see the winners post HERE and my original post HERE. Now on to this week’s sketch from Jen B….

Freshly Made Sketches 197

I wanted super simple and I just can’t get enough of that Lawn Fawn set! My card base is Neenah Solar White 110lb Card Stock. I stamped the greeting from the Lawn Fawn Best Fishes Photopolymer Stamp Set in Memento Tuxedo Black in the lower right corner. The banner is a piece of Neenah Solar White 80lb. I inked up the Simon Says Stamp Diagonal Stripes Background Stamp in Hero Arts Butter to Orange Ombre Ink and flagged the bottom before adhering it to the card with SNAIL. My fish and fish bowl are from the same Best Fishes Set and are also stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black. I used my Copics to color them in and then die cut them with the matching Lawn Fawn Best Fishes Lawn Cuts. The fish are adhered to the bowl with Multi-Purpose Glue and the bowl to the card with Foam Tape. I love coloring with my Copics but I definitely need a few more colors and I love the Ombre flag! I hope that you enjoyed my card for this week’s Freshly Made Sketches challenge! I’m off to Lancaster in a few with Michael and Sue to go to the CKC Show there! If you are going too make sure that you say hello! Thanks for sharing in my day and have a terrific Thursday! 🙂

Mojo Monday 406

A quiet Sunday, necessary I guess. I did run over to Scrap-A-Latte to drop off two of the cards for this week’s class. I had to pick out some different paper for the other two, I didn’t like the original ones that I choose. Other than that I just worked on projects, did laundry and watched a little TV. I really do find it hard to do nothing by myself, odd huh? This week at work should be loads of fun said no one ever! Hopefully it will be a quick one!

It’s Monday so that means that it’s time for this week’s Mojo Monday sketch challenge…

Mojo406

I got stuck on the greeting and that is how the rest of today’s card came into being! The card base is Neenah Solar White 110lb Card Stock. My background is a piece of Smoky Slate and Basic Gray that are adhered to a piece of White. I heat embossed the Hero Arts with Studio Calico Tiny Star Background Stamp with some White Hero Arts Embossing Powder. The patterned paper is from the Studio Calico Atlantic Collection Paper Pad and is backed with some Neenah Solar White 80lb. My greeting is from the Simon Says Stamp Hand Lettered Encouragement Photopolymer Stamp Set and is heat embossed in Ranger Silver Embossing Powder on Basic Black. I used a piece of Silver Glimmer Paper and the Simon Says Stamp Sketch Star Die for my embellishment. I love all of the stars and I didn’t realize that the patterned paper and the background stamp are coordinated until I typed this post! LOL! I hope that you enjoyed my card for this week’s Mojo Monday sketch challenge. It would be great to see your card in the gallery so stop by the blog and check out the rest of the Design Team’s cards! Thank you for checking in with me today! Have a marvelous Monday! 🙂

Pals Paper Arts 257

Yes! I got my “new to me” car yesterday and I love it! Three hours was spent at the DMV, but that’s the price you pay! I left work at 12:00 and headed over to the car place to get the paperwork and then off to DMV. My parents were there with me for a while and then Heather came up with some Starbucks and the line really moved once she got there! We went back to my house to drop off my old car and then headed up to the dealer to pick up the new one. We stopped back at my house and dropped off Heather’s car and went for a nice ride! It handles completely differently from the Chrysler, it’s nice and sporty. Later on Heather and I went to Monty’s for some pizza and then we met some peeps from my work at a bar to say good bye to Thomas and Keri who are leaving. When I got home Taylor called and asked if she could borrow my old car because her alternator went in hers, talk about perfect timing! So yes, I had a very nice Friday! Here is a picture of the new wheels!

Saab 9-3 Arc Convertible

Yeah I think I’m pretty flash in it! LOL!

Now on to today’s card which is for this week’s Pals Paper Arts sketch challenge…

PPA 257

I took some liberties with the sketch this time! My card base is Neenah Solar White 110lb Card Stock and the front is covered in a piece of Calypso Coral. I used the Project Life Corner Rounder on both the right corners of the card base and the background. The background is a piece of Mint Macaroon with a strip of paper from the Pretty Petals Designer Series Paper Stack down the left side. I adhered the panel to the card with Fun Foam and SNAIL. The greeting is from the A Whole Lot of Lovely Host Stamp Set and is stamped in Hero Arts Light to Dark Peach Ombre Ink. I used the Simon Says Stamp Stitched Circles Die to cut it out. Behind it a piece of Pacific Point with both ends flagged and under that is some Silver Thread. The flagged strip and the greeting are adhered to the card with Foam Tape. I’ll say it again, that Pretty Petals DSP Stack has some great colors and neat patterns in it don’t you think and I love that Ombre Ink! I really hope that you enjoyed my card for this week’s Pals Paper Arts sketch challenge! I always appreciate you stopping by and I hope that you have a fantastic weekend! 🙂
