Create with Connie and Mary 246

Ahh… Friday! Today is an especially good Friday because I am getting out of work at 12:00pm. I need to do my taxes but it beats work! LOL! We are to get some rain later on but it’s supposed to warm up over the weekend. I’m off to the NY Auto Show tomorrow morning with some friends, should be fun. I haven’t been in a few years. What are you all up to this weekend? Did you enjoy the blog hop yesterday?! There were some pretty good projects, huh?!

Before we get to today’s post Stampin’ Up! had some news for us today. First there will be FREE shipping on all regular (non-expedited) orders Saturday April 6th through Monday April 8th. They have also announced their color refresh! I’m so happy that they have kept four of the five 2011-2013 In-Colors! I’m a little sad to see that Lucky Limeade didn’t make the cut but we also got some former In-Colors back too! Bermuda Bay, Soft Sky, Crushed Curry, Pear Pizzaz and Blushing Bride along with a new color Smokey Shadow. They have also moved some colors to different families and of course they are retiring some colors. Say so long to Regal Rose, Pretty in Pink, Bashful Blue, Certainly Celery, Baja Breeze, Riding Hood Red, Bravo Burgundy, Not Quite Navy, More Mustard and River Rock. You can see where they all are now in the image below.

No for the card! Today I have my card for this week’s Create with Connie and Mary challenge. This week we have a color challenge…

CCMC 246

As soon as I saw this I thought of my favorite… Sent with Love, but I decided to do something a little different! The base of my card is Whisper White Card Stock and for the background a piece of Island Indigo. I used MDS and my E-Cutter with the Hexagon Punch to cut a piece of Sent with Love Designer Series Paper. After some careful adhering and a little trimming I had the pattern for the main panel. All of the pieces are adhered to a piece of Real Red and backed with a piece of Calypso Coral. The greeting is from the Sent with Love Stamp Set and is stamped in Island Indigo and cut out with my Paper Snips. The piece behind it is created with the Epic Day This and That Designer Washi Tape. I adhered it to a piece of Whisper White and trimmed a little off of the top and bottom. The greeting is then adhered to it with some Stampin’ Dimensional pieces. I really do love the Sent with Love bundle and it’s only available until April 30th. The colors are great and so are the images! There you have my card for this week’s Create with Connie and Mary color challenge. I hope that you enjoyed it and thanks for visiting! Have an amazing Friday!

  1. Another super cool card! I am so glad you mentioned your e-cutter for the hexagon punches, thanks for the tip. A big thank you for adding your card to our color challenge this week at Create with Connie and Mary. Smiles, Elizabeth

  2. What kind of E-Cutter do you have? Do you like it, etc? Is there a different one you would rather have? Do they make them that can cut – don’t know how to ask what I want to know since I don’t know anything about E-Cutters. Soooo, what can you tell me about them. or what do I google in order to find them?

    1. I have a Silhouette Portrait. I do like it. I didn’t need the one that cuts 12 x 12 and this one takes up a lot less space. I did upgrade the Design Studio Software, it makes cutting SVG files easier. The Portrait has a print and cut feature. You can print something from the design software and the cut it out, it knows exactly where to cut. Just google e-cutters! 🙂

  3. Super card! Love the hexies cut from dsp! And the arrangement of the patterns is really cool! Thanks for playing the challenge at Create with Connie and Mary!

  4. Love your creative use of the dsp and washi tape! I am loving the hexagon trend and have my fingers crossed for a hexagon punch – that would be awesome! Wonderful, creative card, Justin. Thanks for joining us this week at Create with Connie and Mary!

    1. Thank you Lisa! I really love hexagons too! They would be crazy if they didn’t have a hexagon punch, but framelits would be better! 🙂

  6. Justin, I think you and I both need to agree that we NEED a hexagon punch. I just completed a card where I hand-cut all of mine. Didn’t mind it but would prefer a punch. You’ve done a great job with the hexagon pattern you created. Thanks for playing with CCMC again this week!

  7. What a fun card! I love all your hexagons on there. Great ‘man’ card! Thanks for playing along this week in the Create with Connie and Mary Thursday Challenge!

  8. SOOO wish they would have a punch for those hexes! I love the look. Great way to use that DSP, too! Thanks for playing along with the color challenge this week on Create with Connie and Mary!
