Just Add Ink 178

Good morning! I had a lovely day in the city yesterday with my friend Kim. We went to the diner for some breakfast, I had pancakes and they were delicious. We then headed to the subway to make our way down to Soho and wandered around for a couple of hours. I picked up my belated birthday gift for my friend Danielle and we had some yogurt from the Chobani store. I choose figs and walnuts with honey and they give it to you in a glass Β bowl that you get to keep. We wandered around some more and I got a picture of the Freedom Tower that will be completed soon. After that we went to Washington Square Park. The park used to be really rundown and not a very nice place to go but they have cleaned it up nicely. I took a picture of the arch and if you look you can see the Empire State Building through the middle. For lunch we went to an organic hummus place called nanoosh. I had a hummus and falafel bowl that was quite tasty and Kim had one with chicken that was also good. Before I headed home we got my car and picked up Kim’s friend Maggie and went to the Target at Riverside Plaza. It’s nice to go there with the car because then they don’t have to lug all of the packages home on the bus or pay for a cab. All in all it was a very nice day! Below are the two pictures I mentioned…

For today’s card I wanted to try the Just Add Ink challenge, just add snowflakes, for this week. I also wanted a simple card with a little bit of a different color combination. The base of the card is Cherry Cobbler Card Stock. For the background I used the World Map Stamp and stamped it in Costal Cabana on Whisper White. The snowflake is from the Festive Flurry Stamp Set and is stamped in Smoky Slate and cut out with the Festive Flurry Framelits Dies. I choose the greeting from the Joy to the World Stamp Set, stamped in Cherry Cobbler, because I thought it went really well with the map stamp. A little fussy cutting with my Paper Snips and some 2-Way Glue and Stampin’ Dimensionals to hold the snowflake and the greeting to the card and it’s finished. If you like a little fussy cutting this would be a nice easy card to mass produce for your Holiday cards. Thanks you very much for stopping by to see my Just Add Ink card for the just add snowflakes challenge. I hope you enjoyed my Manhattan pictures and card. Have a wonderful Sunday! πŸ™‚

  1. Justin – I understand how Stampin’ Dimensionals work (go figure!), but you must have doubled them up here. The snowflake and sentiment seem to levitate over the card (as opposed to just popping). This card is a beauty! Now that you’ve used the “Joy to the world” sentiment from this stamp set, please mail it to me – that way, you won’t share it twice (just thinking of you).

    1. Actually they are only one layer Brian! I do like the levitate description, I think I will use that in the future! Unfortunately, I love the font for Joy to the World so you will be seeing it again, maybe after a few more I’ll pop it in the mail! Glad you like the card and I hope you have a nice day! πŸ™‚

  2. Can’t get any more closer or to the point than this card! Love the colors, and the map accent!
    Love it!!!

  3. Thank you for sharing your pictures. I love both prominent structures. It’s interesting how different in style and construction they are. Seeing the Empire State Building through the arch is really cool. A Chobani store – my husband would be in heaven!

Your card speaks to these photos. I love it. I’m in love with the font using in Joy too – it’s the main reason I bought that set! Now I must get the map stamp. Thanks for always being such an inspiration. Have a wonderful Sunday.

    1. You’re welcome Wendie! I love looking around Manhattan as it’s always changing. The Chobani store was great! The font is the main reason I got the set too! Thank you for stopping by and I hope you have a lovely day! πŸ™‚

I read the recipe for your card BEFORE I looked at it and I thought…Yuck….the world map stamp in coastal cabana (I call it cabana boy blue) and then Joy to the World….wonder what possessed him to do that?? THEN i looked at the card….OH MY>…it is gorgeous….you are a genious…..thanks so much for proving me wrong….beautiful card…just beautiful.

  7. Wow Justin your photos brought back memories of the last time my family and I flew across the pond and stayed in New York! We stayed just over the road from Washington Square Park and have a similar photo of the arch! So, not only thank you for another clever, gorgeous card but thanks for the memories!

  9. Thanks for the photos! I hardly ever get back to NYC but I have to plan something in the next couple of years! Your “fussy” cut of the sentiment looks a whole lot easier than really fussy cutting that sentiment. I love the map and sentiment together. Inspiring! Have a great week! Nancy B P.S. What is your daughter’s name?
