Finally… it’s Friday! Yesterday was a real mess here weather wise. It started snowing at 12:30 Thursday morning and by the time I left to trek into the office we had about 8 inches. The flakes were so big that by the time you finished cleaning off the car you had to do it again! They did let us leave work at 11:45, I was the only one from my department that made it in, actually there were only about 15 people in the building yesterday. By the time I did leave work it was raining and continued to do that for most of the day. Below is a picture of what my ride to work looked like yesterday morning.
You can see how big the snowflakes are in the picture! We got another 3 inches last night, hopefully it’s done now!
Another great thing about this Friday is it’s time for Fab Friday! This week I’m happy to announce that my friend Brian King has joined the Design Team! Yeah! To start him off we have a sketch for you…
The doily was there so I had to use it but I tried to step outside the box for the rest of the card. My card base is Smoky Slate Card Stock. I created a frame from a piece of Soft Suede and Crushed Curry and adhered a piece of Pear Pizzaz Taffeta Ribbon around the bottom. Before I adhered the frame to the card I used a piece of the Afternoon Picnic Designer Series Paper and two pieces of Pear Pizzaz that I cut out with the Little Leaves Sizzlit. My flowers are from the Simple Stems Stamp Set and are stamped in Wisteria Wonder and cut out with the Secret Garden Framelits. The frame and flowers are adhered to the card base with Stampin’ Dimensionals and my greeting is from the Express Yourself Host(ess) Stamp Set and is stamped in Soft Suede. My Stamp-a-ma-jig assures precise placement! I really do like the mix of colors inspired by the Afternoon Picnic DSP. I needed a touch of spring after today! LOL! There you have my Design Team card for the Fab Friday challenge. Check out the blog and see what Brian and the other Design Team members have done with the sketch and show us what you have done by entering your card in the gallery. Thanks for checking and enjoy your Valentine’s Day! Oh, I almost forgot, if you scroll down to the bottom of the post there is a bonus card! A little love from me to you! 🙂

Happy Friday, Justin! Be thankful YOUR snow eventually turned over to rain! We had about 17 inches here in Massachusetts! I love your card today and what really intrigued me most was how you cut the Art Deco framelits into both the Soft Suede AND Crushed Curry cardstock. Plus, I love all the layering. Enjoy your weekend!
Happy Friday Crystal! Wow! That’s a lot of snow! I am happy that it turned to rain! I’m happy you like the card! It was fun to do something a little different! Have a great weekend! 🙂
Beautiful! Love the cut out frame and the purple/yellow is a great combo for this winter weather! TFS!
Thank you very much Amanda! Yes, we need some spring! 🙂
Uh…taking pictures while you are driving – in conditions like that! For shame! LOL Glad you were able to make it both ways safely.
I actually stopped the car to take the picture! There was no one around! LOL! Thanks Karin! 🙂
What an intriguing card Justin. I thought it was a pretty intricate design but you handled it very well. Happy Valentine’s Day to you and I hope you can at least get out and have a nice dinner at one of the amazing restaurants in Manhattan. There won’t be any getting out for us here in mid-coast Maine. Yesterday we received a bit over 16″ of snow at our place and it’s snowing pretty heavily right now. Also, winds are going to pick up to 30-40 mph. The challenge will be how to dig out since the belt on the snow blower broke at the end of the driveway this morning. I have a feeling the hubs will be a cranky Valentine for sure. LOL
Thank you Grace! Happy Valentine’s Day to you too! I will be around home tonight, but that will be fun. There are far too many people going out for dinner tonight! Now that’s a lot of snow!! Oh no! You need to get that snow blower fixed! LOL!
Oh – and Thank You for the lovely Valentine’s card addition to your card for the day. It is great and much appreciated. Nice of you to reward us with two cards in one post. Have a super day.
Your welcome Grace! 🙂
Happy Valentine’s Friday! Your cards today are fantastic. Thanks for all of the photos-even the snowy ones. You had it far worse than we did here in Wisconsin-only a couple of inches in a 2 hour stretch.
Happy Valentine’s Day Sandy! I’m happy you like the cards and photos! I think the snow is usually the other way around! LOL! 🙂
The deco punch out is a wonderful touch. It allows the flowers and leaves to appear as though they are they are springing up in a flower bed! And can’t we all wait for that!! I hope your storms settle soon. The driving looked awful, but looks like a lot of people must have stayed off the roads. Have a stress-free 3 day (?) weekend! Love the Valentine’s card!
Thank you Beth! I definitely can’t wait to see some flowers and greenery! I think we are supposed to get some more snow over the weekend. It was pretty bad driving yesterday, but a little empty too so that was good. No three day weekend for me but I will enjoy my two day one and hope that you do too! 🙂
Happy Valentines Day! Justin!
The thinking of you card is cute, but the Valentines Day card is super cute! I take it your car handles pretty good in the snow. I’m not sure if mine would. I don’t like driving with an inch or two, let alone driving in eight. Thankfully you got there safe and home again safe. Another short week! Woo-hoo! Do the Friday dance! Enjoy the rest of your day with whatever plans you may have. Take care! 🙂 Donna
Happy Valentine’s Day Donna!
Thank you! I do love the Valentine too, simple but fun! My car is a convertible and hates the snow! But it doesn’t do too bad. The work week can never be short enough! LOL! I did the Friday dance all day! Enjoy your evening! 🙂
Very pretty!! Love the color combo!! The flowers peeking through the window are something I’d love to see outside right now!! 🙁 The weather this year is horrible!!
Thanks Brenda! I’m with you on the flowers!! Yes, we have had a very bad winter but I’m hoping that means we will have a great Spring! 🙂
Terrific cards. Happy Valentine’s Day to you too and hope it stops snowing…. some day! LOL
Thank you Louise! Happy Valentine’s Day to you too! It has to stop eventually, right?! LOL!
Justin – I love your take on this sketch. It’s so like you to think outside the box, and you did that! These flowers really pop out of this Deco Label Framelit! Thanks for the shoutout – I’m so happy to be a part of this design team.
Thank you so much Brian! I’m so happy to have you on the design team!! 🙂
Great card Justin! Some new ideas I don’t think I would have come up with. You’re a wonderful “inspiration”, especially for those days when my brain won’t come up with anything exciting. Send my cograts to Brian for his write-up in this month’s “Stampin’ Success”!
Thank you Carol! I’m so happy that you find me and inspiration! I will let Brian know! He’s quite the celeb! 🙂
Definitely new ideas here Justin!! Hope you had a quiet and relaxing Vday. 🙂 I’m pretending to ignore the fact we are getting more snow tomorrow and looking ahead to the rain & warmer temps next week!! Looking forward to rain must mean I’m REALLY tired of winter LOL!!! Have a great 2 day weekend!!! We can do the Friday Dance all the way through!!! 😉
Thank you Laurie! I did have a nice V’day and hope that you did too! We are supposed to get some snow too. I can’t wait for the warmer weather and at this point I’ll take 40 degrees! LOL! I hope that you have a nice weekend too! I did the Friday happy dance all day yesterday! 🙂
I usually come to your blog to look at your lovely cards but also enjoy your weather reports considering I’m on the other side of the world in the south east corner of Australia. This post I really want to thank you for showing big flake snow. This time last year I was in japan and it was my first time experiencing big flake snow like that! I so love it! And I also love the card and have just picked myself up the first two stamp sets!
Thank you for visiting Louise! I’m glad that you enjoy my projects and my little musings! After all of the snow that we have had this year I don’t like snow at all! LOL! I hope that you enjoy your stamp sets and your week! 🙂
