So, everyone, how was your Valentine’s Day? Mine was pretty good. Andrew and I managed to eat an entire pizza pie and then we spoke to my friend Carolyn over in Australia through Google Hangouts. It’s kind of neat that you can sit face to face and talk with someone who is 15 hours ahead of you in time. She lives approximately 10,500 miles away from us. Isn’t that crazy to think about?!
The inspiration for today’s post comes from this week’s Freshly Made Sketches challenge. This week’s sketch comes from Jen B…
My card today is nice and simple. The base of the card is Daffodil Delight Card Stock and on top of that is a piece of Basic Black that I cut out with the Hexagon Hive Thinlits Die. I cut another piece of So Saffron out with the same die and used eight of the honeycombs to stamp bees from the Postage Collection Host(ess) Stamp Set in Basic Black. Three of the bees are adhered with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the other ones are placed within their cutouts. My greeting is from the Six Sided Sampler Stamp Set, stamped in Basic Black and punched out with the Hexagon Punch. A piece of Linen Thread tied in a bow at the top completes the card. Like I said, nice and simple but fun. As you know, the Hexagon Hive Die is one of my favorites, and I thought it worked really well for this sketch! I also like the subtle difference between the So Saffron and Daffodil Delight, I think it makes the bees stand out a little bit more. And there is my Freshly Made Sketches sketches card for this week’s challenge. I hope you enjoy your Saturday and thanks so much for stopping by!

What a neat card Justin!! The more I see you use the Hexagon Hive Die, the more I think I need it LOL!! 🙂 It is pretty amazing that we have the technology to see and talk to other people all over the world!!! I’ll be spending my weekend dreaming of Spring and trying to distract myself from the additional 2-5 inches of snow we are supposed to get!!! Enjoy your weekend and be safe!!!!
Thank you Laurie! I do love that Die! It’s great for a background and so much more! Yes, technology is quite amazing! I am always dreaming of spring, especially after all this snow! Have a great weekend! 🙂
Such a happy card, that’s what I see. Because I know that the bee’s will be buzzing around after we get old man winter out of the way. I also like subtleness between the two colors. Technology what’s next? Way cool talking to your friend Carolyn. New York pizza pie, yummy. My husband got home from a business trip yesterday so I made dinner for us. A nice quiet evening at home. Plus I got to look at my roses he brought home. Enjoy the weekend.
Thanks Lisa! Yes, a happy spring inducing card! Skype and FaceTime are just so cool! Who knows what they will come up with next?! The pizza was really good! Mine was a nice quiet evening at home too! Who doesn’t love some roses?! Have a great weekend! 🙂
Beeeautiful card, Justin! It’s a very creative submission for the challenge! Have a great snowy Saturday!!
LOL! Thank you Crystal! Enjoy your weekend! 🙂
Love it!!
Thanks Gerri! 🙂
Everything works so wonderful with your card! All the hexagons in the Hive die and stamp/punch set! Gives the card a lot of depth. The two different yellows look great off set with the black!! Love New York style thin crust Pizza!! Here in eastern Maine we are getting ready for another round of snow, 12 to 18 inches this time
Thanks Beth! I do love that Die! The color difference is so subtle but noticeable enough. The pizza was delicious, nice and crispy! I don’t envy you with your snow! We are to get a little more today too. Go away winter!
Love this card. Very neat and exact. Like the contrast too. 🙂
Thank you Nancy! Have a great day! 🙂
Absolutely, positively LOVE this card Justin. It’s cheerful, it’s evoking spring all over the place, it’s dimensional – it’s just plain old fabulous. Thank you for sharing this one.
Glad you had a nice Valentine’s Day and boy, I’d pay $50 for a good NY pizza. Here in Maine the pizza is definitely not what I am used to. In fact the hubs says we should throw the pizza out and eat the box. He also says that about Vermont pizza. I think it all depends on what you grow up with because the native Mainers and the native Vermonters all love their pizza. Guess we all have different tastes eh? Preparing for another storm tonight and then more snow on Tuesday. Will this winter ever end?
Yeah! Thank you Grace! I need the spring vibe!! Yes, V’day was very nice! There really is nothing like NY pizza! LOL! The pizza up there is that bad huh?! I think I have had pizza in Vermont and I didm;t think it was too bad! We definitely all have different tastes but that what makes it so much fun! I hope the winter ends sooner rather than later! 🙂
Beeeee…..autiful!
Thank you Linda! 🙂
Well, we had 7 more inches of snow here in my Ohio River enclave, high up on our mountain! It was so nice of the sun to shine in the 24 degrees. Melt! Melt! Nevertheless, I am looking at your card and thinking I may have to break down and buy that Hive Die or find a way to simulate it. I just love the juxtaposition of the two yellows! I have the stamp sets and other supplies, so I have no real excuse now. You inspire me but not my bank account! I’ll figure it out. There is nothing like real New York City pizza! Yes, I would pop $50 for a real one but the airfare would make it more expensive than buying the Hexagon Hive Die! Choices! I’m a Gemini & have a hard time choosing. Glad you had a nice Valentine’s Day. Today is my hubby’s birthday. I used the new Good as Gold kit and the See Ya Later birthday stamp inside. He really liked it. Have a great weekend! Sorry so long…Nancy B
Oh Nancy, that’s not good! We had 2 more inches here last night. I am thinking melt, melt too! I love that Hexagon Hive Die! It’s fun and easy to use! LOL! Just remember that my bank account suffers right along with yours! NY pizza is definitely like no other, it would be expensive for you to get one and I don’t think it would taste very good if I shipped one! LOL! I’m a Virgo and I just go for it! Happy belated birthday to your hubby! I love reading you comments, never too long! Enjoy the rest of your weekend! 🙂
Buzzing with delight at a super fun card!!
LOL! Thank you very much Theresa! 🙂
Great card Justin! I love how you’ve used the Hexagon Die! Those little bees are so sweet! Sounds like a great Valentine’s Day! Who doesn’t love pizza?! Thanks for joining us this week at Freshly Made Sketches!
Thank you Jennifer! Valentine’s Day was definitely fun! Yes, I do love Pizza! Have a great week! 🙂
