Paper Players 199 & Brooklyn

Yes, it’s Monday again but I had such a nice day yesterday I don’t even care! I headed into Manhattan around 7:45am and got there around 8:40, not a bad ride in at all! I met Kim at her apartment and we headed over to the Diner for some breakfast. I had some whole wheat pancakes and they were delicious! We then made our way to the subway to head downtown. The subway in the summer on the weekends is so nice, it took us 12 minutes to get from 86th Street to the Brooklyn Bridge stop on the 5 train. As soon as you come out of the subway the bridge is right there so off we went. It’s a pretty cool experience to walk across the Brooklyn Bridge, you are up above the cars and there are amazing views of the city. I have a bunch of pictures, so many that I will post some today and some tomorrow! We wandered around in DUMBO for a little while and then had some ice cream from the Brooklyn Ice Cream Factory, I had coffee and it was delicious! We decided that it was a nice day for a boat ride so we took the NY Waterway boat back to Manhattan. It goes up Brooklyn and then across to 34th Street. After we got off the boat we made our way over to the movie theater to see Maleficient. It was a great movie! Angelia Jolee is perfect as Maleficent. If you don’t know what it’s about it’s a retelling of Sleeping Beauty and it’s really done well. After the movies we headed back up to Kim’s neighborhood and had some Nick’s pizza for dinner and then I headed home. A pretty awesome day! And now for some pictures…

This is when you first start walking across to Brooklyn.

Here is me with Manhattan behind me. (In my Coastal Cabana shirt! LOL!)

Me again with the bridge behind me.

This is a pretty neat picture of the bridge with the skyline behind it. You can see the Freedom Tower too.

That’s the Manhattan Bridge.

And this is just a pretty neat picture of the skyline of lower Manhattan.

Tomorrow I’ll post some of the ones from the boat so be sure and come back! 🙂

I want to thank Ann Schach for choosing me as her pick for last week’s wedding challenge over at the Paper Players. You can see the winner’s post HERE and my original post HERE.

Now on to this week’s Paper Players challenge. Jaydee has a very patriotic one for us this week…

Paper Players #199

Red, White and Blue, I immediately thought of July 4th but also thought that a lot of other people would do that so I went a different route. My card starts off with a base of Real Red Card Stock. For the background I used the Darling Doily Thinlit to cut out a piece of Night of Navy and adhered it to the card and snipped off some of the left side. My tag is created with the Scalloped Tag Topper Punch and the bottom corners are rounded with the Project Life Corner Rounder. My greeting and “ice cream” are both from the Cupcake Party Stamp Set. The greeting is stamped in Night of Navy on the tag and the “ice cream” is heat embossed with White Stampin’ Emboss Powder on Real Red and punched out with the Cupcake Builder Punch. The cone is punched out with the Pennants Punch and embossed with the Tiny Triangles Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. Thanks to Linda for putting the idea into my head! A piece of Vintage White 1/4″ Stitched Grosgrain Ribbon is tied through the top of the tag to finish the card. The icing from the Cupcake Party Set makes neat ice cream too don’t you think?! I hope that you enjoyed my card for this week’s Paper Players color challenge. Thanks you very much for coming by to see my card and share in my Sunday! Love having you stop by! Enjoy your day! 🙂
