Paper Players 202

Moving continues. The first half of today was spent unpacking and organizing. I had a nice lunchtime surprise visit from my friend Kim and the munchkins. Kim bought my favorite veggie tuna wrap from the local deli and I smothered it in hot sauce. A delicious lunch and a welcome break. After lunch, I headed back to the old place to get more stuff, brought it back to the new house and repeated the morning’s tasks. Andrew came by in the evening to help bring more stuff back over and I got a phone call from my friend Brian who I haven’t seen in 3 and a half years, so we met at Starbucks for a little bit. Another welcome break! LOL! I finished off the evening with more unpacking and organizing, with help it always goes faster! Not a very exciting day, but at least I was productive!

Luckily though, I found some time in the day to make a card! That card is for this week’s Paper Players Tic-Tac-Toe challenge from my friend Sandy…

Paper Players #202

I don’t know if you remember or not, but I’m a big fan of the Tic-Tac-Toe challenge, and there was a time that I did every box on the square. This time I opted for 7 of the 9. LOL! The base of my card is a simple piece of Whisper White Card Stock and the background is a piece of Soft Sky that I embossed with the Woodgrain Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. The main panel is another piece of Whisper White and I stamped the leaves from the Choose Happiness Stamp Set in Mossy Meadow and the greeting is stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black from the A Dozen Thoughts Stamp Set. I used my Stamp-a-ma-jig for perfect placement. I used the “Vintage” Itty Bitty Shapes Punch Pack to notch out the two half circles on either side of the panel and tied a piece of Linen Thread in the notched out parts. The flower is from the Beautiful Bunch Stamp Set, I stamped it once in Strawberry Slush and again in Daffodil Delight so I could cut out the center. I curled the petals and then used Stampin’ Dimensionals to adhere both pieces to each other and the card. To get in my seventh box, I strategically placed some Basic Jewels Rhinestones around the card. I’m a huge fan of the way the Woodgrain Embossing Folder looks with any kind of floral image. I think it gives it a rustic, natural look. So there you have my card for the Paper Players Tic-Tac-Toe challenge from Sandy. And let’s not forget, this is a special card because it is the first one to come out of my new creative space! I hope you enjoyed the card, that you had a good weekend and a fun week ahead. Thanks so much for stopping by! 🙂

  1. Good Morning Justin:

I don’t know how the heck you managed to get such a fab card done in the new space already. You must move like “the Flash” or something. When I read all you do in a single day my response is “I better go take a nap for Justin so he won’t get all worn out”! So, are you done moving or is there more to go?

I love having dimension in a card and stamping several “pieces” of an object like your flower in different colors and then assembling them onto the card in layers is definitely the way to go. Your flower just makes this card come alive! Also, I never think of the little things like the way you used the mini punch on the sides of the card stock so the twine would rest beautifully on the card. Great touch.

Wishing you a Magical Monday and some time to rest and rejuvenate yourself.

    1. Good morning Grace!
Ha ha! I wish I did move like the flash then everything would be finished already! I had to stop for a break and I was thinking about the card as I was organizing. I really appreciate your naps for me, that must be how I can get all of this done with the energy you send my way!
I too am a big fan of dimension on a card. It gives it so much more! I like the notches on the panel, they look neat and they make the twine easier to tie!
I hope that you have a wonderful day! Love our little chats! 🙂

  2. Hey! Love the first card from the new craft “room”…I do love the way you use the Itty Bitty punch to notch out the sides. You are so good to use 7 of the bingo spaces. I just went back to see the 2 you left out. Have a fun Monday! Nancy B

    1. Thank you very much Nancy! I was going to do all 9 but I thought I’ve done that once and that’s good! LOL! You have a great Monday too! 🙂

  3. Good Morning Justin! You must be quite settled in now; just arranging items in their ” best” places. Your stamping area looks great in yesterday’s post and already you are creating fabulous new cards!! The texture and elevation of layers of the leaves and flower make it jump right out. The Soft Sky embossed layer adds a rustic background. Will have to try the half circle cut outs to wind the twine around, great idea!
Have a wonderful Monday back at work (thought I would never have to say that!)!!

    1. Morning Beth!
I am getting there, I wish it was all finished but I need to remember that I am pretty far along and it will get done. I am still purging which feels good too! Thanks! I do like the new craft space and I’m so happy you like the card! I really do love that Woodgrain Folder with flowers, they just go so well together! I wish work was relaxing today but unfortunately it’s not! LOL! Enjoy your day! 🙂

  4. Great card for the first one in your new space! I wish I could make such a great one in my “old” space! Lol!

  5. What a great card! Your creative juices are flowing as usual. The card is just perfect and I really love the Beautiful Bunch and Choose Happiness stamp sets. You do them justice. So enjoy your blog and pictures. Amazing friends like yours are a treasure.

  6. Hi Justin, very nice card. I love all your seven points. Sounds like your move is almost finished. You can look forward to a nice, long, three day weekend coming up. 🙂

  7. Hi Justin! Happy Monday! I’m sure you are exhausted from your very busy weekend…back to work for some rest! 😉 Love your first card from your new stamping space! I love the way the petals of the flower curl up, ever-so-slightly. That little touch adds so much. Love the pop of bling you added also! Have a great rest of your day!

  8. Justin, this is a beautiful card. I especially like the leaves just outlined rather than colored in. It makes the flower stand out better. The linen thread is also a perfect touch.

  9. Hi Justin! I can’t believe you are still blogging daily and making challenge cards all while you are moving! That’s just craziness! But, thanks for showing a photo of your new craft space. Will it have a name??

  10. Peeked into your stamping room and it looks so nice and neat ! Aren`t you lucky there was a walk in closet ? Now…I must say I really like this Soft Sky wood look . I saw one done in pale pink and loved it too ! Your clever punch out is something I would like to try . Really pretty and I want that Just Because ….love the curly script look !
Glad you are on the road to completion !

  11. I have been following your blog from here in the UK for a couple of weeks and look forward to reading it every day. This card is beautiful and love the way you have used 7 of the boxes, I would not know where to start! I’m glad your move went well over the weekend and your craft space looks nice and neat, not like mine. Love the shelves with Stampin Up sets. Thanks for inspiring lots of us out here. Michellexx

    1. Thank you so much Michelle! I happy to have you along! I do like a challenge and have done all 9! I have to keep my craft space neat, I wish the rest of the house would follow suit! I’m honored that I get to inspire you! I have lots of family in the UK and have been there loads of times. London is one of my favorite places! Thanks for stopping by! 🙂

  12. Justin,
So glad Sunday was such a good day for you. Having pleasant interruptions is always helpful! And you need susatenance! Are you almost completely moved in?
I love this card! I looked it several times to figure out how you did the cut on the whisper white, this is before I bothered to read your details! I kept thinking did I miss a framelit somewhere? Then I finally noticed the linen thread! OH my gosh! I should probably put my glasses on! What a great idea to use the bitty punch pack like that! I will be caseing this idea from you!
I spent the day in the er yesterday, I have sciatica pain that is pretty awful. I can’t really stand too long, or sit to much. I really am only comfortable in my bed, I have a sleep number bed that has the adjustable head and feet mechanism. Thank God for that! I have to stay off of my feet as much as possible, which is very difficult for me to do. So I stamped some flowers and brought my Blendabilites and a tray into my bed and I have been coloring away! Hopefully this won’t last long. The last time I had it, I was in bed for almost three weeks!
Thanks for always taking the time to be creative and to share your life with us!
    Donna

    1. Donna,
I’m happy with the way things are progressing. Of course, it never does go fast enough for me. I still have a few things left in the old place, but Rome wasn’t built in a day right?! I really like the notches, you will definitely be sing more of them. They keep the twine in place nicely too! I’m sorry to hear that you were in the ER. My friend has sciatica and it’s definitely not fun at all. Anything that will give you relief is always great. My brother has one of those beds too and loves it. Crafting is always a good thing, it gets my mind off of everything. I wish you a speedy recovery!! Thank you for taking the time to come by and comment! You always make my days brighter! 🙂

  13. Soft AND dramatic. What a wonderful card! And I believe you will finish moving this week, get settled in, and get special design inspiration from your new digs! Go, Justin!

    1. Thank you Georgie! I hope to have it all done by the end of the week, but if I don’t that’s ok too! I am finding the new craft space to be quite nice, cozy but nice! 🙂

  14. Beautiful,, just gorgeous. Another CAS for me. Love your colors, and I love both stamp sets. Really like how you notched out the thread areas.

  15. My poor Justin… I hope this moving experience hasn’t caused your brain to snap (yet)! Do you stamp in your sleep? If so perhaps I should take a lesson from you because your sleepless cards are the best! Thanks so much for sharing your beautiful project and playing along with my Tic-Tac-Toe challenge this week at The Paper Players!

    1. Aww, thanks Sandy! My brain is a little mushy, I won’t lie! I wish I didm;t have to sleep, it’s cuts into my crafty time! Thank you, you are far too kind! I loved your Tic-Tac-Toe board! Enjoy the rest of your week! XO

  16. Justin, this is truly beautiful in its simple elegance. The serene colors, classic layout and soft details are like a breath of fresh air! So glad you joined us at The Paper Players!
