And there goes another weekend! I spent a good part of the day in Manhattan helping out a few friends. I was running around and I didn’t go anywhere new so I didn’t take any pictures. However, I did take a few pictures when I was in PA on Saturday. When I was little and would go there the town was a lot less crowded and there were less houses. There are so many new houses behind my Grandmother’s but when I was standing outside the funeral home and looked across the street I could see clear over to the mountains…
You can see that the houses in the picture are newer, they weren’t there when I was a kid. After we got back from the cemetery we went to this little restaurant for lunch. If you ever happen to be in the Ringtown are and want some food I would highly recommend it. The prices were great, service was excellent and the food was delicious!
And yes, there is a creek the runs along side the place! 🙂
Well if it’s Monday that means that it’s time for this week’s Paper Players challenge. For this one we have an unusual color combo from Nance…
I think that the inspiration picture is neat! My card starts off with a base of Basic Gray Card Stock. My background is stamped with the coral from the By the Sea Stamp Set in Hello Honey. The shells are stamped in Basic Gray on Calypso Coral and Blushing Bride and cut out with my Paper Snips. Stampin’ Dimensionals adhere them to the card. The love is a piece of Calypso Coral that I cut out with the “Vintage” Expressions Thinlits and adhered to the card with Multi-Purpose Glue. I stamped the You from the Work of Art Stamp Set in Blushing Bride and some gray iridescent sequins complete the background. I mounted it to a piece of Hello Honey before adhering it to the base. I love the way that the Love and the You look like they were made for each other. A simple but sweet card! I hope that you enjoyed my card for this week’s Paper Players color challenge. Thank you so much for coming buy and I wish you a happy easy Monday! 🙂

Tough color combo ….you can mix some of them easily ,but putting them all together is a challenge. You did good ! I must say that I hope you journal ….going back and reading what you are thinking and going through emotionally at certain times is enlightening and very warming to your spirit on life`s journey .
Always enjoy your pictures !
Thank you very much Sonny! Yes, I was a little perplexed when I saw the colors! I do journal, here every day with all of you! 🙂
Justin – this card is breathtaking! When I saw the colors for the color challenge I thought “oh boy, this should be good” (sarcasm)! But, when I saw the card it was one of those WOW moments. The By the Tide set is definitely in the top five of my favorite sets………..well, I DO live in Maine! LOL
I love Pennsylvania – well, not so much the bit cities but the area around Lancaster and Hershey. In fact, if we hadn’t moved to Maine we seriously considered PA. I bet your Grandmother loved it to.
You have yourself a magnificent Monday my friend.
Thank you so very much Grace! I love when I can give you one of those WOW moments!! LOL! I love the set too!!
Yes, Pennsylvania is beautiful and I will go back there. My grandmother lived there he whole life, and didn’t really go anywhere else. I hope that you had a nice day my sweet! 🙂
HI there Justin! Great card today! I agree with you, I think the font in the thinlet and the “you” look like they’re made for each other. I would have a hard time with this color combo but again, you’ve made it look like it’s meant to be! Enjoyed your pics of PA…never been there. Have a great rest of your day!
Hey Karen!
Thank you! I love the Thinlits that cut out the words, we need more of them! I was a little worried when i saw the colors, so happy that they worked! Glad you like the pics and I hope that you had a nice day! 🙂
Hi Justin,
Wow! Wow! Wow! What a great card! I love everything about this card! When I saw the color challenge for this, I thought, wow, that will be tough! But not for you! You put it all together perfectly. I love the “vintage” expressions thinlits, was sad to see them go, they look great with the Work of Art set! And the By the Tide set is a fave of mine! Great job!
I love the landscape of Pa, I don’t think I would tire of looking out at the mountains everyday. I understand progress and growth are good, but it does sadden me to see all the “new” construction in the older neighborhoods…it takes away the easiness and gentleness of these areas, but at least you can’t take away the mountain view!
I forgot to mention about your Grandmother’s collection of trinkets yesterday. When my grandmother passed, over 30 years ago, I was given some old bowls that she had. I still have them today and I treasure them. They are a constant reminder of my lovely grandma, as I am sure your trinkets will do for you.
I am trying to get into “unpacking” mode, not being very succesful with it! I love to pack for a trip, but really dislike unpacking when I get home! Hopefully tomorrow will be more productive!
Have a great Monday,
Donna
Hello Donna!
Yeah!! I’m so happy you like the card! The colors were definitely challenging! I love those Thinlits and I too was sad to see them go. Love the By the Tide set!!
I agree with you, the landscape is very pretty in PA. Even the drive there is so serene and peaceful. It makes me sad too to see all of the new house. There is still that little gap where you can see the mountains, thank god!
The trinkets were always in the same place in my Grandmother’s house and they do remind me of her. I will treasure them always!
I always force myself to unpack as soon as I get in otherwise it tends to stay there for a long time! I’m sure that you will be more productive tomorrow! I hope your Monday was good! 🙂
XOXO
Sorry to hear about your grandma. It is never easy to lose a love one.
I love tha card.
Thank you Germaine. 🙂
Lovely card, and so sorry to hear about your grandmother! (I will need to look & see how far you were from me in PA.) The images and sentiments are perfect together!
Thank you very much LeAnne. I think that Ringtown is about 1n hour and a half from you. I’ll be back in PA, love it there! 🙂
Oh, PA looks so pretty and I wish you were there for a happier occasion. I also enjoyed seeing your Gramma’s vintage trinkets yesterday that you played with as a child. So wonderful that you have them now and I am sure they make you smile when you look at them. And now, about your card, love it! You use the colors independently and perfectly layered and apart. A wonderful collage of images. Hugs 🙂 Miss you!
Thanks Sandy, me too. I am glad that I took the trinkets, they do make me smile when I see them. I’m so happy like the card! That was a tough color combo! I miss you too my friend! We need to do something about that! 🙂
I love the inspiration photo, speaks vintage to me. awesome card, great use of this stamp set
Thank you Linda! Yes, the inspiration photo is definitely shabby. 🙂

The shells and reef look lovely in the challenge colors. I really like how you did your sentiment with a die cut and a stamp. Very cool! So glad you shared your creation at The Paper Players.
Thanks so much, Andrea! I’m glad I still have those Expressions Thinlits! I hope you enjoy the rest of your week! 🙂
