Paper Players 213 & Pics!

Yup, there goes the weekend just flying by as always! I did have a very nice weekend though so I can’t complain. Yesterday I went into Manhattan and met my friend Kim for breakfast. We went to our usual spot, the diner but we had belgian waffles for a change. After breakfast we headed over to the West Side to go to a flea market on 77th and Broadway. While we were wandering around we saw Bernadette Peters in one of the jewelry stalls. It’s so funny when you see a celebrity in the city randomly. After we were done there we walked back to Kim’s apartment and I stopped by my friend Julia’s house before heading home. It was little crisp yesterday morning when I left around 7:45, I had to wear a sweat jacket. It’s too early for that!! I did mange to snap a few pictures in my travels which by the way was a nice 8 miles in total for the day! The first picture I took on our way through Central Park. It’s Belvedere Castle, I think that it’s a neat little castle and there is a visitors center inside along with all sorts of scientific instruments that collect weather data.

Next up is a picture of one of the exhibits located in the Rose Center for Earth and Space that is in the American Museum of Natural History. It’s called Scales of the Universe and has scale models of the planets amongst other things. I took the picture though because I thought it was really neat how the reflection of the buildings and the trees show up so clearly.

Finally I have a picture of the Great Lawn during the day. I did take one at night a few months ago. I love that you see the park and then the buildings rise up in the distance!

Now off we go to today’s post and it’s for this week’s Paper Players color challenge from Anne Marie…

Paper Players #213

I’m not ready to admit that fall is on it’s way just yet but I do love the colors. The base for today’s card is Baked Brown Sugar Card Stock and on top of that is a piece of Blackberry Bliss. My background is a piece of Very Vanilla and I stamped my greeting in Always Artichoke from the For All Things Stamp Set. The pumpkin and leaves are from the Fall Fest Photopolymer Stamp Set and are stamped in Blackberry Bliss, Baked Brown Sugar, Always Artichoke and Cajun Craze. I used the Fun Fall Framelits to cut them out. The pumpkin and base layer of leaves are adhered with SNAIL and some more of the leaves with Stampin’ Dimensionals. I love the leaves in all of the colors and the fact that there are Framelits for them is great! I hope that you enjoyed my card for this week’s Paper Players color challenge. Thank you very much for coming by to share in my day! Love having you stop by! Have a great Monday! 🙂

  1. Beautiful card. Love those colors. I agree it’s too early for the cold but I prefer a little bit of cool rather than the high humidity I must say.

Your photos are absolutely stunning! Wish I was there and could go visit those interesting places. (Instead I am off to an employment lawyer… wish me strength and luck). Have a good Monday. Cheers.

    1. Thanks so much Louise! I don’t know, I really am not a fan of the cold at all! I always have fun finding things to take pictures of for you guys! Wish you were here too! I hope that all went well at the lawyers! 🙂

  2. Justin, Beautiful card! Love the fall colors. It takes a lot of patience to die cut all those leaves but the end result is great!

Your photo of the “Scales of the Universe” is so cool. I’ve never seen that. Once again you’ve shown me I have to branch out more when I am in NYC.

    Thanks for sharing.

    1. Thanks very much Gerri! I love the colors too, much more me than brights! The leaves actually weren’t too bad, I got to cut three out at a time thanks to the dies.
I thought the picture was fun with the reflection. I walk past there all the time and have never looked in. I need to go in there!
      Have a good evening! 🙂

  3. Hi Justin:

I’m playing catch up yet again. LOL I think you should enter your picture of the museum in a photo contest. What an amazing shot! Manhattan has so much to offer that if someone spent an entire year there on vacation they wouldn’t run out of wonderful things to see and do. No wonder people love living there. Personally, I think one could live in Grand Central Station for weeks and have absolutely everything you need, especially all those fabulous baked goods! 🙂

Needless to say, you have made an amazing card with the color challenge today. The only way I can describe these colors is bright yet subtle. Since fall is my absolute favorite season I love all the colors, especially when the sun is shining on the bright reds and oranges of the trees. Here in Maine the old Route One becomes a wonderland, especially between Yarmouth and Bath. We will have to get you up here sometime.

Have yourself a Marvelous Monday. Hugs.

    1. Hello Grace!
I thought the picture was neat, a little different. I have to agree with you about Manhattan, I have been there hundreds of times and always find something new to see. I too love Grand Central, so much to explore and there is an Apple Store there too! LOL!
I’m glad that you enjoyed the card too! Believe it or not I had fun cutting out all of the leaves. And yes, the colors are fright yet subtle at the same time. The colors of fall are amazing. I would love to come up to Maine, I have never been!
I hope your day was good, mine wasn’t too bad for a Monday! Hugs to you to my friend! 🙂

  4. Hi Justin! Love your card! I love all the little leaves surrounding the pumpkin. I heard that the pumpkin crop is gonna be a good one here. Can’t wait to get mine! I guess I should wait at least another week. 😉 I love your pictures…thanks so much for giving us a glimpse inside of your world! I never get tired of seeing the NY skyline! Oh and your belgium waffle sounds really good to me! Have a great Monday!

    1. Hello Karen!
Thanks very much! The leaves in that set are great, and the colors for the challenge are fun! I appreciate you coming by to see the pictures. I do have fun finding things to take pictures of so that I can share them with you. Makes me take more notice of things in the city! The waffle was delicious!! I hope you had a fun Monday! 🙂

  5. Good Morning Justin:
The card is fabulous, love the way you used blackberry bliss in the fall colors. The leaves look as if they have fallen around the pumpkin. Great card.
Your pictures of New York are wonderful. I love that castle-having seen quite a few in Europe it’s wonderful to see an American one- right in NYC! Who knew! The planet photo is really fantastic- showing the reflections just makes it so artistic and interesting. Thanks for taking me in to the city again-at least virtually!

    1. Hello Marty!
Thank you! I do love that Blackberry Bliss and it makes a perfect addition to the rest of the fall favorites!
I think that it’s fun that we have a little castle right there in Central Park! I so enjoyed seeing some of the castles in England! I can’t wait to go back there! When I went to take the picture with the reflection I wasn’t quite sure that I would like it, but it’s quite fun and different. I’m happy that you enjoy your virtual tours of Manhattan with me! 🙂

  6. Like how you piled up all the leaves around the pumpkin. Such a natural look and the colors scream fall. Running and jumping in raked up leaves and searching for that perfect pumpkin. Don’t forget roasting marshmallows and smores over the bon fire! I can hear the crackling of the wood. These are things I think of looking at your card. Fabulous. Pics are very nice.

    1. Thank you Lisa! Who doesn’t love a good old pile of leaves! I love all of the images that conjured up in your description. I too can hear the wood crackling and smell the fire! Have a great evening! 🙂

  7. What gorgeous colors. I love fall because the crisp temps make me feel about 8 years old! Justin, I have had a brilliant idea: when any of us come to NYC you can be our personal tour guide as we visit all those favorite places you tell us about. Then we can go back to your place and stamp. Sounds fun, huh? Think about it.

    1. Thanks very much Georgie! I can see where fall conjures up memories of being a little one! Jumping in the piles of freshly raked leaves! I think that your idea is fantastic! I would love to show any of you around and then come back and stamp! Sounds like a great time! 🙂

  8. Gorgeous photos, I missed that castle when I was in NY, I guess I have to go back. Waffles are the best, I could have them for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

I love this card, especially those leaves. I want to jump in a leaf pile now, one of my favorite things to do in the fall.

I too had a great weekend. Went to a quilting class, did some sewing and made four.yes four cards. I am on a DT team and we have a blog hop this week so I had to get creative.

    1. Thanks Linda! You definitely have to come back and let me know when you do! The waffle was quite tasty! I haven’t had one in a while.
The leaves definitely make you think of all of the fun things that you can do in the fall!
I’m glad that you had a nice weekend too! You got a lot done! I will have to make sure that I look out for the blog hop!! 🙂

  9. Such great memories of growing up jumping in piles of leaves! Love that your card brings those happy times to mind! Great job with the colors! Love all your photos, too! I feel like I am taking a little trip when I visit your blog! Thanks for joining us at The Paper Players this week! XX

    1. LOL! Yes! I miss being a kid and doing that! I guess I could still do it, just need a bigger pile! I love that you feel like you are on a trip, I so enjoying sharing my days with all of you! I hope that you have a great weekend! 🙂

  10. I’m playing catch-up big time this week – love this card Justin, those leaves make we want to put my wellies on and run through them, kicking them into the air! Thanks for joining us over at The Paper Players this week!

    1. Ha! It happens to the best of us Joanne! Thank you! Believe it or not I had fun die cutting all of those leaves! Enjoy your weekend! 🙂

  11. What a fun fall card, Justin! Love the “pile o’ leaves” and the clean background. You are probably have more fall up here than we are right now. Lucky! Thank you for joining us this week at the Paper Players! 🙂
