Mojo 377

We had our Holiday party at work yesterday and in the middle of it there was fire drill! Ha ha! They also did karaoke and some people were really good and others… well we won’t say anything else! It is supposed to rain here heavy until Christmas. At least we won’t have a white one. I’ll take the rain over snow any day. Last night was pretty uneventful. I got a few cards done and then made a list of what I have left to do. The Christmas cards didn’t get done. Sometimes we have to accept that there is just not enough time in the day to accomplish everything that we want to. That is something I’m going to work on in the New Year. Between work, crafting, blogging and friends sometimes I just can’t get to everything and that’s just the way it goes right?! I’m going to do my Christmas shopping tonight! Wish me luck! LOL!

It’s Tuesday so here are the Weekly Deals from Stampin’ Up!:

My card that I have for you today is for this week’s Mojo Monday sketch challenge…

Mojo377

Super simple so I wanted to keep my card the same. I saw a technique last year where Debbie Hughes used embossing paste with embossing powder to get this really cool molten look so I finally decided to give it a try! The base for today’s card is Whisper White Card Stock. I adhered a piece of Smoky Slate to the base and a strip ofย Silver Glimmer Paper goes across the middle. My snowflake is actually the negative of the Simon Says Stamp Kate Snowflake Die. I cut it out of a piece of 110lb card stock and used it as a stencil with some Wendy Vecchi Embossing Paste. Some Silver Stampin’ Emboss Powder is sprinkled on while it is still wet and the I heat embossed it and it bubbled! I used the Circles Collection Framelits to cut it out and backed it with some Brushed Silver Metallic Card Stock punched out with the 2″ Circle Punch. My greeting is from the Merry Everything Stamp Set and is also heat embossed in Silver Stampin’ Emboss Powder and backed with some more Brushed Silver Metallic. Stampin’ Dimensionals hold both the snowflake and the greeting to the card. Like I said very simple, just white and silver. I love the way the snowflake turned out, a very clever technique! I hope that you enjoyed my card for this week’s Mojo Monday sketch challenge. Thanks very much for coming by and I hope that you are all a lot further along in your Christmas shopping than I am! Have a wonderful Tuesday! ๐Ÿ™‚

  1. Hey Justin, cool embossing trick! I like the raised look of the snowflake, it’s a nice, modern Christmas card ๐Ÿ™‚ I have my Christmas shopping finished, yay! I still need to make melting moments biscuits and a jelly slice – jello in your language ๐Ÿ˜‰ You are so regular with your posting, always about 10:15pm when I am thinking about going to bed. So goodnight Justin, it’s Christmas Eve tomorrow ๐Ÿ˜€

    1. Hello Kelly!
Yes, I love that embossing technique! Thank you! It does create a great look! I almost finished my Christmas shopping too! Wee! Your biscuits sound delicious and I did know what you meant by jelly slice! I try to be as regular with my posts as I can be, at least during the week! I hope that you had a nice Christmas Eve and a lovely Christmas! ๐Ÿ™‚

  2. Hi there Justin! Love your card today…what a cool snowflake! It glistens. I love that you try new and different techniques and then share those with us. Thank you! Love the different silvers and white together too. We are going to have a green Christmas too. Your holiday party sounds like fun, I’ll bet you are pretty good at karaoke aren’t you? ๐Ÿ™‚ Have a great day!

    1. Hello Karen!
Thank you! The snowflake is really neat! I love that technique, we definitely need more stencils and maybe even some embossing paste! One can only hope! LOL! I am glad that we are going to have a green Christmas, I think it’s actually supposed to be in the 60’s! I am not that good at Karaoke, trust me! I leave the singing to Andrew! LOL! I hope that you enjoyed your day! ๐Ÿ™‚

  3. Justin, What a beautiful card! I love the embossed snowflake. I have to try embossing paste. The effect mixed with embossing powder is quite beautiful. Have a great day!

    1. Thanks very much Melanie! The snowflake is really cool! Yes, you should give it try! It was so fun to watch it bubble! ๐Ÿ™‚

  4. Good morning Justin and thank you for this gorgeous card. The silver snowflake is elegant and should be the “star” of the card! Love the silver and white theme for a holiday card.
The holiday party sounds like fun- love watching people I know do karaoke- so entertaining!
I know a lot of people who send cards out after Christmas- no worries!
    Have a great day.

    1. Hello Marty!
Thank you! The snowflake is definitely the star of the card! I should try it with one of the stars too! I like the simplicity of the card, a little on the serene side! The party was ok, it was fun to watch the Karaoke, especially the ones that can sing! LOL! I will be sending mine out after Christmas, thanks! I hope that you enjoyed your day! I did! ๐Ÿ™‚

  5. Don’t stress about not getting your Christmas cards done! Enjoy the moment, if you have time do them later, it gives everyone something to receive late! Love the silver and embossing effect. Have a Merry Christmas, from snowy Colorado!

    1. I will take your advice Jeffie, no stressing! I will do them later, it is a nice idea to get something after the holiday! I wish you a very Merry Christmas too! You can keep the snow by the way! LOL! ๐Ÿ™‚

  6. Hi Justin:

I absolutely love the elegance of this card. It screams class. Love the paste combined with the embossing powder. The star of the show is the dimensional snowflake you created with this technique. Another outstanding creation.

I woke up to snow this morning when I expected to wake up to rain. That was a nice surprise although I would prefer no snow while we are traveling. We will have to keep our eye to the sky as they say. Meanwhile, I hope Santa is good to you and that you have time to play with Daniel and what is sure to be a ton of new toys. LOL Merry Christmas.

    1. Hello Grace!
Thanks very much! It does have a little bit of elegance to it! The snowflake is my favorite part and was so much fun to do!
Sorry that you got more snow! I know that you like it but not me! I wish you a very safe journey! I hope that you enjoy your Christmas and that Santa is good to you too! I am looking forward to seeing Daniel and will be sure to take lots of pictures! Merry Christmas to you and your lovely family! XOXO ๐Ÿ™‚

  7. Well, well, well…very pretty card!!! I am finishing up my Christmas cards today! Of course, they won’t go in the mail until tomorrow.
Work sounds like it was finally an exciting place for you. I am still cooking but it’s the home stretch until tomorrow when the roast and potatoes and last minute stuff get done. Are you a list maker? I don’t know how I would function without my lists!
Stay dry and have a great day. Love, Nancy B

    1. Well thank you Nancy! I will be mailing my Christmas cards out on Friday! ๐Ÿ˜›
Work is never exciting, but I do like the people that I work with so that makes it bearable. I wish you luck with all of your preparations! I do make lists all the time and they definitely help me! The rain wasn’t too bad today, but it’s supposed to pour tomorrow. Oh well, better than snow! XOXO ๐Ÿ˜‰

    1. Thank you very much Julee! Thanks for always having such great sketches! Have a wonderful Holiday! ๐Ÿ™‚

  8. WOW! Just beautiful. I bet you have enough sample Christmas cards made for your loved ones. And I agree, there comes a tme when we just accept what we can do and move on. I came to that point last week. Christmas will come no matter what, and I’m blessed with family and friends so life is good.

Well…. I’m jealous, not that I like rain but I’m praying the fron shifts otherwise I could have up to 6 inches of snow tomorrow. NO!!!! NO!!! NO!!! And it was 50 today. I am so no ready for winter

    1. Thank you so much Linda! I definitely do have enough sample cards and those are the ones that will go out! I definitely need to stop thinking that I can do everything and just be happy with what I do get accomplished!I too am blessed with great family and friends! That’s all that really matters!
Oh no! I hope that you don’t get the snow! I would much rather the rain! We are supposed to be in the 60’s on Christmas day! I am never ready for Winter! ๐Ÿ™‚

  9. Hi Justin. Great card I will have to try that technique. Love the results, so classy.
Love the “fire drill” during you Christmas Party. One way to get people away from the spiked punch bowl. Read you blog every day, thanks for the inspiration.
Wishing you a Very Merry Christmas to you and your family, friends, etc.
Happy & Healthy New Year also.

    1. Hello MaryAnn!
Thank you! It’s a fun technique, I love the effect!
LOL! Yes, the fire drill did add a little excitement! I am so glad to have you along! I wish you and your family a very Merry Christmas and a super New Year! ๐Ÿ™‚
