I had a very nice weekend and hope that the same is true for you! I had a semi-productive day yesterday. Not quite as productive as the rest of the weekend but we all need a little down time right?! I did manage to get some cards made yesterday before I headed out with Heather to do some errands. We went to Bed, Bath & Beyond and the mall so that she could return some stuff. We stopped back at my house so that we could take the old wall unit over to her house. My dad has a truck and boy does that come in handy! After that I came home and puttered around a bit and then watch the end of A Good Day to Die Hard and the beginning of Divergent. Then I decided that It was time to get the rest of my stuff done before trying to get to bed early, ha! Back to work today, maybe I’ll move my office?! Maybe not! LOL!
Before we get to today’s post I wanted to take a minute to remind you that beginning tomorrow you can start ordering from the 2015 Occasions Catalog and also qualify for Sale-A-Bration rewards! Do you have your lists ready?! I’m sure that you do! ๐
After a little vacation the Paper Players are back with their first challenge of 2015 and it’s a theme from Anne Marie…
I went with a recycled and repurposed item on my project. My card base is Whisper White Card Stock and the entire front is covered in a piece of Kraft Card Stock. On top of that I adhered a piece the Gold Fancy Foil Designer Vellum to a piece of Very Vanilla and that is then adhered to the base. My recycled/repurposed item is the denim banner that I cut out with the Party Pennants Bigz L Die. Some Fast Fuse adheres it to the vellum. My greeting is form the Four You Stamp Set and is heat embossed in Gold Stampin’ Emboss Powder on Kraft and cut out with a die from the Circle Card Thinlits. I used the Butterfly Thinlits to cut out the butterfly and the Hello You Thinlits for the “you”, both from Kraft. The Butterfly is adhered with Glue Dots and the “you” is adhered with Crystal Effects. I fluffed up the butterfly wings and that completes the card. I do love the look of the denim with the gold and Kraft, it makes for a fun combination don’t you think?! I hope that you enjoyed my card for this week’s Paper Players Theme challenge! Thank you so much for you time today and I wish you all a Magnificent Monday! ๐

Good Monday Morning Justin:
Is that denim paper or real denim fabric? Kraft paper has never really gotten me excited but I must say that your use of it on today’s card really does play to the denim. Great job. I love the design of this card and your use of the gold striped vellum paper. All in all I think this is just a fabulous card and one I would love to give OR receive.
We are all waiting to see photos of your new wall unit! At least the previous one went to Heather and not to the transfer station. That would have been such a waste. You guys are always into something that sounds like lots of fun. For us to run errands we have to allow 3 or 4 hours as everything is so dang far away and, on top of that, we wait until we have a number of places we need to do. Sometimes I love that we are slightly off the grid and other times I so wish I could just “run down to” whatever and not lose half a day doing it.
Hope you get your office moved today. That would be one more necessity out of the way!
Have a Marvelous Monday and talk soon. Big Hugs! XO
Hello Grace!
It’s actual denim form an old pair of my jeans! I love the way it looks with the Kraft too! Thank you!
I am waiting until I hide the wires on the wall! And for some good light! LOL! It was good that Heather could use the old one! My friends and I do try to have a s much fun as possible! That’s what life is all about! Having fun! I’m glad that everything is close by. Where my Grandmother lived in PA you had to travel quite a ways to get to anything.
Office move tomorrow morning, it was ready last night when I left! I’ll be doing it first thing. My Monday was pretty good, hope that yours was too! Big hugs back to you! XOXO ๐
Hi Justin! I’m a SU Demo in southern California and I LOVE seeing your blog posts everyday because I’m in LOVE with NYC (and stamping, of course!). I enjoy your creativity & hearing about your life – it brightens my day! What I’m dying to see here is pics of your new place with all of your newest purchases – sorry to be so nosy! LOL I especially enjoyed the pics of your friend’s place a month or so ago after she had redone her living room – very shabby chic. Thanks for sharing yourself with us!
Hello Barbara!
I am so glad that you are enjoying my blog! I have fun sharing with all of you! You are not being nosy! I have to straighten up a bit more and then I’ll post some pictures of the apartment. Nicole did a great job with her re-decorating, glad that you liked it! Thank you for taking some time to come and visit! Have a great evening! ๐
Justin, I love this card and how you used the denim as your recycled item. I agree with Grace that the denim works well with kraft, but I would never have thought to use gold with those two. It works great and takes your card to a new level.
Thank you so much HJ! I love to used denim on cards, I don’t do it enough, I always forget! LOL! So glad that you like the colors too! ๐
Hey Justin, you are always amazing me with your creativity! This card is gorgeous, I love the colour and texture combination! Those dies can cut out almost anything – maybe some bread and smoked salmon to make designer hors d’oeuvres for your next party!?! I hope your first day back at work is ok, mine wasnt too bad. My daughter loves Divergent, and all the Hunger Games movies – I think my favourite movie of all time is The Wedding Singer. Adam Sandler is great, his movies seem to be either really good or really BAD, not much in between! Cheers Justin xxx ๐
Hello Kelly!
Why thank you so very much! The dies definitely can cut a lot! LOL! Now that would be funny for a party, and pretty messy if I’m not mistaken! LOL! My first day back was just what I expected, needed a few more days off! I enjoyed the weeding singer, I’m more of a sci-fi guy than comedies. Andrew enjoys comedies! I met Adam Sandler in a restaurant in Boston a few years ago, he was pretty nice, but I do agree, his movies are either great or bad! ๐
Wow, that’s cool that you met him! You lucky thing! Not too many famous people hang out in rural South Australia, Lol! Hey, your blog looks different than it did this morning, did you change it? Looks great ๐ xx
Yes, he was a lot better in person that I thought he would be! LOL! Thanks Kelly! Yes, I changed the layout again. I think it’s a bit sleeker and I like that I can change the picture in the background! ๐
Love it! The denim with Kraft and a touch of gold, awesome. LOL you may have had a slow day but you did get lots done, I on the other hand achieved nothing, except organizing my ribbon and my bling. Bjut I did go to theBlackhawks game, it was freezing in the outside wait line, biut the game was awesome.
Today is my last day off of work, Sob….sob. Made it to the health club, ran errands but bo crafting. Oh well such is life
Thank you Linda! I do try and get as much done in a day as I can, I always feel like I could do just a little more though! I need to organize the craft space, you did so you accomplished a lot! LOL! I’m glad that you enjoyed your Blackhawks game! Sorry that you have to go back to work tomorrow, I did it today and well, I would rather be off! LOL! ๐
LOL! I just read your response from yesterday, I can tell you are not a hockey fan, The Chicago Blackhawks are THE BEST!!! (OK I’m biased) hockey team ever, not football.
He he! No Linda, not much of a sports fan, sorry! LOL! I do like Tennis though, does that count! ๐
Hello Justin! Wow—great card today! You’ve outdone yourself! I can’t believe how creative you are and how you think to use different materials like you do. I need to move out of my comfort zone and try some of these new things, like you have. Just love the denim with the gold…so cool! So, did your office get moved today? You’re right about having a truck, or knowing someone with one…they always come in handy! So we are in the deep freeze here…my goodness wind chills tomorrow of 30+ below they are saying. Can it even get that cold? I feel a productive day in my stamp room tomorrow. Glad I don’t have to go anywhere! Hope your day was a good one and that you’re having a nice, relaxing evening!
Hello Karen!
Thanks so much! I like to try different things, helps expand our creativity! I will be moving tomorrow morning! Finally ready! I’m kind of over it though, it took too long! LOL! It’s freezing here tonight too! 22!! Way too cold for me! 30 below I wouldn’t even go outside! LOL! I think that staying in your stamp room tomorrow sounds like an excellent idea! I had a good day and nice night, hope that you did too! ๐
What, no picture of you hanging from the ceiling today? LOL! You are crazy, man! Love the denim combined with craft and gold, a great mix of textures. Awesome card. Hugs!
LOL! I have to find something else to hang from! Thank you Sandy! Great and fun challenge! Hugs to you too! ๐
Love, love, love this card Justin! The use of the denim is inspired and it looks so great with the kraft and gold – who would have thought it?! I’m off to rescue some jeans from my charity pile – Big Shot here I come! Thanks for joining us over at The Paper Players for our re-use and recycling challenge this week!
Thank you very much Joanne! I love to get to use denim but I always forget that I have it! LOL! I hope that you have a wonderful week! ๐
Justin, you have done it again! Magnificent card! Great use of old jeans…the denim really makes your butterfly POP! Your color combination is awesome…you have inspired me!! Thanks for joining us at the Paper Players this week! Hugs ๐
